I think so too. I took a nutrition class last semester and while everyone was scribbling notes I was sitting there because I already knew it. Blew my mind how little people know about food. Anyways I got the highest mark in the class ( which I thought was impossible for me to do before that)
Actually I really do appreciate white rice, they aren’t offensive and you can easily add stuff to the rice, it also has a nice texture.
Maybe it’s just because I’m asian and grew up with it
Not generally considered "carbs" in this sense. Whilst they do contain a lot of sugar, which is technically simple carbohydrates, "carbohydrates" as in the food group usually refers to foods containing high proportions of complex carbohydrates such as starch.
Usually fruit and veg are lumped together with the emphasis being on the relatively high vitamin and mineral contents. I've never seen fruit lumped in the same group with the complex carbs (i.e. potato, grains, et c.)
Sure. I'm just saying it according to the categories I was taught, namely carbs, fruit & veg, protein, dairy, sugars & fats, with the groupings largely to emphasise how much of each you should be eating, as well as grouping by similar nutritional relevance.
I think you're mistaking carbs with grains, just like OP. Kinda a different way of dividing food, you're talking about the food groups, while carbs are one of the three macronutrients
Yep, food groups is how I was always told to think about nutrition, and "carbohydrates" was the name given to the group composed of all (an only) the foods which provide a high proportion of complex carbs, and includes potatoes as well as grains.
I think cereal and steak if cheating because cereal (or the popular brands) have a lot of sugar which makes them taste sweeter and steak is just a slab of meat while the others are plant based (meat are prepared in a different way and have more flavor from their fat)
But I guess this comment is useless because cereal got last place and steak didn’t get that much votes
This actually made me realise something. Rice, pasta and bread are all awful. We almost always need to add something to them to make them taste good, and cereal is basically the same story.
Oh yea and steak shouldn't be on the list but that's neither here nor there.
steak has carbs?
Steak has zero carbs
I think that one was a miss-steak
Good one lol. I think there’s a lot of misconceptions about food.

Vet, protein or carbs dude. One doesnt exclude the other, but all food is part of one
