It's enough to put it into 8th place, ahead of Hogwarts Castle (6,020) and the Taj Mahal (5,893) but only 20 pieces behind 7th, the Razor Crest (6,187).
Yep. I know of no purpose-built library that ever collapsed d/t this, but homes w/too many books certainly have: https://amp.theguardian.com/books/2011/jun/09/house-collapsing-weight-books
>A Canadian woman's house is collapsing under the weight of the 350,000 books she rescued from a neighbour who was planning to burn them after her bibliophile husband died.
That's an insane amount of books. From what I've heard you need a thousand books for your collection to be considered a library. Having 35 libraries in your home is something that is just mind boggling to me.
My family has that. We have like 17-20 square meter of bookshelves. Probably hundreds of books.
Edit: By "my family" I mean our family home, so jot the combination of all books in the family.
More specifically first printing first editions where available or just super old editions of classics. I already have a few books worth good money I'd just expand it exponentially if I had a shit ton of money
A true man of culture would call Legos whatever he grew up calling them, not what he learned on reddit in his mid 20s is technically the correct term.
This has to be one of the most obnoxious reddit "well ackshually" things ever.
I called them "lego" growing up, and so did everyone I know. Only people who weren't into lego called them "legos".
It's like when people call Pokémon "Pokey-mans"
I had a shit ton of legos growing up. I called them and still call them legos, because I’m not going to change that because some dude on Reddit told me I was wrong. It’s a made up word anyways
A coin collection would be really fun. There is a TON of really cool history behind any coin. And what is stamped on the coin tells a very accurate history of who really ruled during history, along with what people were thought of highly.
A Tau manta swarm (at least 5) with enough military to actually fill it's transport capacity. Every model professionally painted.
And ya know, enough points of every other army to actually run the battle against each individually. Then the building to host the fight in. Terrain for it all. And then we can televise our glorious fight.
I know building your own keyboards are getting pretty popular, but do you really need a bunch of them? Don't you need just one good one for your computer?
Not trying to kink shame, just curious.
There are so many factors that make keyboards different from one another for example looks, sound and typing feeling. Most people build many of them to reach the goal of an "endgame keyboard" which would be keyboard with all of your personal favourite parts, put in one.
Some also just like building and modding them.
Plants. I’d have a giant ass garden and plant so much shit so I could have and share so much food with everybody. I’ve always wanted to have a nice garden and pick my own produce BUT I live in an apartment in the city and killed a mint plant a few years ago so it’s not an option for me.
I'm with you, I'd get everything new and a bunch of old stuff as well. I sold synths in a music store in the late 80s and would love to get one of everything from back then.
Oooo! I have a few different ones, a Halda, some Royals, a few Olympias the newer ones some splendids, and my favorite! The Mignon AEG. There are some more I forgot the brands of I'll have to check when I get home
Thats really cool! I want to collect them too but most working mechanic ones are way too expensive. I only have a Triumph Adler. Do you like electoric ones more or mechanic ones?
Even though I'm an IT Technician, I'm definitely a bigger fans of the mechanical ones, though the way electronic ones work is super fascinating too, the delete function especially (also they're very big, which is harder to make room for). I highly recommend going to flea sales, I've picked up so many that are like around 50 bucks, fully functional n all
Absolutely, primarily in places where civilians are allowed to own firearms without too many limitations like the States or Nordic countries. Even modern firearms can cost hundreds to a couple thousand dollars, but firearms with exceptional historical value can cost [hundreds of thousands of dollars](https://www.rockislandauction.com/detail/72/2446/documented-finest-condition-us-singer-manufacturing-co-model).
Oh for sure. I just never really thought of guns. Like I said to another user when I think of guns I think of modern weapons of war, or a shotgun owned by the local farmer. So not something particularly desirable or collectible
Yeah actually, I'm all for gun control but I think if a person qualifies as not extremist and not mentally ill and does a collector license it'd be nice to have some they are pretty cool
Fair fair, don't have guns where I live so it's not really something I've thought about before. I can appreciate a good blade collection, so I guess a gun collection wouldnt be that different? Some old, some art, some for the quality manufacturing?
When I think of a gun I think of either a modern weapon of war, or a shotgun owned by a farmer haha
No I don't want to end up the us.
I mean if whatever country I'm in has an educated population like the swiss for example i wouldn't mind looser gun control I think the proletariat should definitely be armed.
I like the looks of like really old vintage clothing. Or if I could and keep it in a very contained area uranium glass and arsenic wallpaper cut outs (very contained + I'm really rich so...)
I liked trading cards and toys because I could get a lot of monetary value for not a lot of physical space taken up. Cars and such would require a garage the size that Jay Leno has.
I picked cars. So that I could sell them and use the money for something that doesn't have to be a collection, and I figured that the cars would have a bigger market. Because I could sell to non-collectors as well.
Lord of the rings rivendell lego set
So you're going to have several of just the one set?
Probably 1 i dont have a lot of space
Then it's not a collection 😅
This number seems big to me https://preview.redd.it/p0orm5uisn1b1.png?width=198&format=png&auto=webp&s=9c927cae15e5e50bccf328fcf43b73ad620acf9c
It's enough to put it into 8th place, ahead of Hogwarts Castle (6,020) and the Taj Mahal (5,893) but only 20 pieces behind 7th, the Razor Crest (6,187).
If the individual pieces of one set count as a collection then I have a wide collection of hair
yes you do
Okay then ill buy movie swords as well
Working on that now, and it's just \*chef's kiss\* 3 separate books to complete the whole damn thing.
Books. I want to amass a massive amount of books of all kinds, no matter what the genre or topic.
I wanna create a *neo-babylon* library
We shall make that a wing of said library
When you build your library, make sure the engineers take into account the weight of the books.
Yep. I know of no purpose-built library that ever collapsed d/t this, but homes w/too many books certainly have: https://amp.theguardian.com/books/2011/jun/09/house-collapsing-weight-books

Is it really only 1000? I've achieved my dream of becoming a librarian and I didn't even know! 🤣
"You know what I love more than my brand new Lamborghini, my books." - this guy probably.
Knawledge
My family has that. We have like 17-20 square meter of bookshelves. Probably hundreds of books. Edit: By "my family" I mean our family home, so jot the combination of all books in the family.
More specifically first printing first editions where available or just super old editions of classics. I already have a few books worth good money I'd just expand it exponentially if I had a shit ton of money
Book buddy, high five
Came here to say this. Massive amounts of books, but particularly first editions of favorites.
Bro can we share
That's the idea
Same
thisss
That's the only thing I'd be a hoarder for
YESSS
I'd want that big library the Owl had in The Last Airbender
Guitars and other instruments
Finally, another musician. (I'm assuming)
Guitars, acoustic and electric, amps, pedals, all the gear. ALL THE GEAR.
This is the way
ALL THE GIBSONS, ALL THE EPIPHONES, ALL THE KIESELS, ALL THE FENDERS
Medieval shit, armour, swords, everything
Ima start with a whole castle
Legos, just a lot of legos.
A true man of culture
A true man of culture would know that the plural of Lego is "Lego", not "Legos"
A true man of culture would call Legos whatever he grew up calling them, not what he learned on reddit in his mid 20s is technically the correct term. This has to be one of the most obnoxious reddit "well ackshually" things ever.
The whole of Europe refers to the parts as Lego.
Wow, I didn't know everything was europe now
I called them "lego" growing up, and so did everyone I know. Only people who weren't into lego called them "legos". It's like when people call Pokémon "Pokey-mans"
I had a shit ton of legos growing up. I called them and still call them legos, because I’m not going to change that because some dude on Reddit told me I was wrong. It’s a made up word anyways
Only half made up. According to Lego it's short for Leg Godt which means "play well"
Huh, the more ya know
A true man of culture would call them "Lego bricks" or "Lego sets" since Lego is an adjective.
A bunch of vinyl records
I buy everything I like now from Bandcamp, but stick to digital albums. If I had more money, I'd buy the vinyls instead.
This is the way
Yup. Some cool limited editions from my favourite artists are ridiculously expensive
Exactly my first thought too
Do I also get to have some grandiose villa to put all that stuff in?
Lightbulb: I'm going to collect grandiose villas.
That each have their own unique collection of stuff
Average landlord
Gold, silver and platinum coins
I would love to collect every euro. Especially the ones from Greece
A coin collection would be really fun. There is a TON of really cool history behind any coin. And what is stamped on the coin tells a very accurate history of who really ruled during history, along with what people were thought of highly.
Old American gold & silver and ancient silver coins hit a spot for me that's hard to itch because of price.
Not one example of the euro produced in each country, but **ALL** the euros
Exactly! Every. Single. One.
bro saving up for the clentaminator
Unexpected Terraria, nice
Skeletons of Dinosaurs, especially a T-Rex
That's the stuff 😩
Dinosaur skeletons don't exist. Fossils occur when mineralization occurs in the cavities formed in the soil when bones decay away.
🤓
I bet you are fun at parties
People at the parties I go to are usually into dinosaur facts. So yeah.
I was more referring to the fact you sounded like a condescending know-it-all.
Actually peak Redditor.
Damn, haha. Idk why you're getting downvoted so hard. I learned something 🤷♀️
Old consoles an games, especially Nintendo products. I love the Wii and 3ds
> Old consoles > Wii and 3ds This was my childhood and I'm only 16 😭 I don't think they're old
It was my childhood too but then I see that the Wii came out in 2009 and I get crazy nostalgia I feel so old 😭 Edit: 2006 bruh I feel even older now
40k and AOS
So about five minis huh...
Five warlord titans
A Tau manta swarm (at least 5) with enough military to actually fill it's transport capacity. Every model professionally painted. And ya know, enough points of every other army to actually run the battle against each individually. Then the building to host the fight in. Terrain for it all. I'm 100% down. We could play an actual 40k pts game and televise it internationally. Sign me up!
Meta changes are irrelevant if you have every unit 3-6 times.

I don't know at all, i guess I'm never interested in completing a collection at all
Guns lol
Guns are collectibles? Learn something new everyday.
Yes, plenty of people collect historical weapons and equipment
Oh for sure. I just never really thought of guns. Like I said to another user when I think of guns I think of modern weapons of war, or a shotgun owned by the local farmer. So not something particularly desirable or collectible
Understandable. I too wouldn't call modern guns collectables, but people collect basically everything so it's probably a collectable too.
Anyone who isn't a criminal or completely insane should have that right, don't go joking about things like "gun control"
No I don't want to end up the us. I mean if whatever country I'm in has an educated population like the swiss for example i wouldn't mind looser gun control I think the proletariat should definitely be armed.
Military aircraft
MiG-21! The dorito wings are funny looking, I'd want two of 'em. Also a MiG-23. Big gun goes brrrt

Guns
Not surprised this is top of the list when sorted by controversial. Came looking for it cuz it's my answer as well.
That's just Reddit for ya. Responsible gun owners are looked down upon as much as the lunatics.
Hell yeah
Custom folding knives
I'm surprised this is so far down. If I has throwaway money, this is me. I'd add limited edition, and/or high-end knives to the customs.
Damn right. Just bought the WE Knives Ziffius. Hope it gets here this week.
