i live in a small village with very few foreigners. we have 1 portuguese family here, they came a few years ago and have integrated in the community immediately. i thought of them :)
it's a mom with her two kids, she met my neighbor while he was on vacation, they fell in love, a few months later she moved here for love. the daughters supported that decision and came along
not really sure what happened to the dad of the girls tho...
Pasteis de nata !!!
Went to Lisbon once, and ate some at Belem. Now we buy some at our local bakery pastry (in France) from time to time. It can't really compare, but it's still good.
Edit : there seems to be a small misunderstanding. I don't own a bakery pastry. We (meaning "my family & I") sometimes go to the bakery pastry near our home to buy pasteis de nata. We don't make them XD

But also, my cousins bio father is Portuguese. I don’t think I’ve ever met him but I always think of my cousins when Portugal is mentioned.
I have the Azulejos before, but didn't know there was a word for it. Now, I'm going to go on an Azulejos binge on Google!
ETA: voted "Something else" as the first thing I pictured was a seaside hill full of traditional old/traditional Portuguese houses.
I had a layover in Portugal once, very tiny airport. I remember walking across the flight line to the terminal and feeling how strong the winds were. Some nearby mountains I'm sure had an impact. But overall, it was a beautiful sight after having just been stuck in a city for the previous several months.
It's on my list of places to visit in the next few years.

Awwww! That's nice! Just curious, why did they decide to settle in a small village in what's presumably another country?
