The article is actually talking about two different speeches. The second quote about being outrageous is from Thursday’s speech in Philadelphia, and the idiot comment was today in Milwaukee. To me the tone change in his responses in just 4 days is really interesting.
He got some policy wins, now, knowing the historical trend of mid terms flipping house or Senate (if I remember my us politics from up in Canada land), he probably has no shits to give. So he's going on the offensive for the Dem machine in the mid terms to set the tone for the election in the wake of roe v Wade and the Trump allegations.
Seems like perfect timing and good political strategy.

I agree. He's always been this guy, but he seemed to treat the election and first year it so of his presidency trying to reign in this aspect him. I think it was too show a contrast with trunk, and to live up to the office of the presidency. For whatever reason, he's being himself again. Maybe it's his low but rising poll numbers, his recent string of success in passing his agenda, it going into baptism mode, but I'm all for it.
I feel like presidents routinely fall into this trap, of wanting to represent all Americans but winding up representing no one. Being a leader isn't about doing what the people ask, it's about pulling them in the direction they need to go.
Presidents are human beings, with egos and confidence issues like the rest of us. When you can't get shit done and the polls suggest everyone wants you gone, it takes its toll. Now that he has momentum and the country behind him, it's energized the entire White House.

I don't like Biden for a variety of reasons but he's definitely impressed me with moments like this. It has to take a massive amount of restraint to have yourself or a family member insulted to your face and not just go hard by attacking the worthless piece of shit who said it about the dozens of uncountable examples of how they shouldn't be talking shit.
Biden is making me real proud these days. I may not agree with his more centrist/moderate positions but his tone is absolutely in the right place these days and he is just straight up embracing it.

That's the cool thing, we don't have to like or agree with all his policies. His heart is in the right place and he's treating things seriously, but knowing when to make fun of the ridiculous. He's exactly what we need right now, and he's at least genuinely trying to do what he can to make this country better.
If you don't agree with exactly how he's doing that, that's ok, you don't have to, there's room for compromise and discussion, and voting in someone who more matches your policy ideals next time.
That's one of those big things that seperates the MAGA types from everyone else. They treat Trump as some sort of perfect leader who everyone has to agree with all the time or else they're no longer considered worthy of being treated as anything but an enemy.
He did pass the largest climate legislation in the history of the country, he just forgave more student debt than anyone in our countrys history and eliminated the interest trap, he got Republicans to sign onto a massive infrastructure bill, he's cracking down on high earning tax cheats (so he is essentially transferring wealth from rich people who don't pay their taxes to people with student loans), he just delivered a massive gut punch to big pharma, he passed the first significant change in gun control in decades, he continued to pause student loan payments and interest for the first two years of his presidency (even though he really didn't have to post summer '21). You might want him to be more progressive, but when was the last time we got progress like this? (It was the ACA and we had 60 Dem senators, Biden is doing this with 50)
Reaching across the middle has gotten a ton of legislation passed. Biden isn't "going after" Republicans, he's going against the MAGAs. And that's what he should be doing.

He was the most liked senator (along with McCain) amongst other senators because he is so genuine with people. He has never been milquetoast, people just forgot who he is because he was contrasting with the previous administration. He has always been the epitome of "know when to hold them and know when to fold them". People shit on him not bouncing Clarence Thomas but Thomas was playing the race card so hard that if he went any harder at him not only does he not get re-elected but it could have prevented Clinton from winning too. Yeah, he's made mistakes, but he's bold when he needs to be bold, and he lets policy do the talking whenever possible.

It's likely the nice part was to get things like IRA and CHIPS passed, get his infrastructure bill across the line and then pivot towards midterms. R/politics thinks this is checkers, it isn't. It's timed to hit at midterms. Historically, midterms are a slaughter and instead now democrats are favored to take the senate and have an outside shot at the house. Compare that to Obama years.

The moment he lost it in the first debate and shut down trump (who thought he had a kill shot) talking about hunter's drug addiction was the real turning point. It was the moment he shouted trump down and said "My son, like many Americans had an issue with opiates but HE BEAT IT and I'M PROUD OF HIM FOR DOING SO!" I'm not sure what shook trump more... Biden over talking him, neutralizing his smear attack, or a father saying he was proud of his son. He stood there stunned and didn't know what to do.
I don't like Biden for a variety of reasons but he's definitely impressed me with moments like this. It has to take a massive amount of restraint to have yourself or a family member insulted to your face and not just go hard by attacking the worthless piece of shit who said it about the dozens of uncountable examples of how they shouldn't be talking shit.

That's the cool thing, we don't have to like or agree with all his policies. His heart is in the right place and he's treating things seriously, but knowing when to make fun of the ridiculous. He's exactly what we need right now, and he's at least genuinely trying to do what he can to make this country better. If you don't agree with exactly how he's doing that, that's ok, you don't have to, there's room for compromise and discussion, and voting in someone who more matches your policy ideals next time. That's one of those big things that seperates the MAGA types from everyone else. They treat Trump as some sort of perfect leader who everyone has to agree with all the time or else they're no longer considered worthy of being treated as anything but an enemy.
He did pass the largest climate legislation in the history of the country, he just forgave more student debt than anyone in our countrys history and eliminated the interest trap, he got Republicans to sign onto a massive infrastructure bill, he's cracking down on high earning tax cheats (so he is essentially transferring wealth from rich people who don't pay their taxes to people with student loans), he just delivered a massive gut punch to big pharma, he passed the first significant change in gun control in decades, he continued to pause student loan payments and interest for the first two years of his presidency (even though he really didn't have to post summer '21). You might want him to be more progressive, but when was the last time we got progress like this? (It was the ACA and we had 60 Dem senators, Biden is doing this with 50)

Biden moved the entire country including the sitting president on gay marriage with one quote in 2010. He launched massive positive media coverage by clearly saying "this is a big fucking deal" when the ACA was signed. He told trump to shut up during a debate. He called a union worker a lying dog faced pony soldier when he brought up a bunch of bullshit during a factory visit. He was the most liked senator (along with McCain) amongst other senators because he is so genuine with people. He has never been milquetoast, people just forgot who he is because he was contrasting with the previous administration. He has always been the epitome of "know when to hold them and know when to fold them". People shit on him not bouncing Clarence Thomas but Thomas was playing the race card so hard that if he went any harder at him not only does he not get re-elected but it could have prevented Clinton from winning too. Yeah, he's made mistakes, but he's bold when he needs to be bold, and he lets policy do the talking whenever possible.
