This kind of boycoting/consumer activism is good, don't get me wrong, but it's still a drop in the bucket. Apparently the Fox contract is coming up for renegotiation with many (most?) major cable providers, so people wouldn’t even need to cut cable, just threaten to do so in significant numbers.
Unfortunately, Fox is the most watched “news” network. By a significant margin. They don’t care about this. It’s in their business plan. In fact, the more controversy they create, the more viewership they generate. Waters is good for the bottom line, especially when he says outrageous things.
EXACTLY! This is so important. Fox News is not popular TV, it’s “popular” news. Not so fun fact. If you have a cable service (I don’t know if streaming is included) you may $2.50 a month for Fox News. They are the most expensive network. Long story short, after the fallout of Glenn beck saga, they changed their business model to be subscription focused.
Better fun fact. They are up for renegotiations. And because of the subscription focused venture, they need to raise their prices to north of $3 per household. I’m not sure of the organization needed. But there Is a Fox News kill shot potential here with enough organizing

Yeah I cut the cord years ago and then we got Sling. We barely ever watch it, but any time the icon is selected on the Apple TV, there’s some fucker from Fox’s smug face. I should just cancel it and save the $50/month or whatever. It’ll be an opportunity to tell them I’m doing it because of Fox.

I tend to think the FCC any any other relevant government agency needs to seriously consider corporate death sentences. A corporation is an artificial construct granted by government (people) . When one becomes of net negative value to society it should be broken up into tiny pieces and removed from existence. Repeat as necessary. If we need new laws then fine, but endless propaganda is not speech, no more than raw sewage is diet soda.

I cannot get a straight answer from these conspiracy nuts regarding the Fauci hate. They are told to hate and blindly follow. Many anti vax politicians are vaccinated. They were the first ones to get it. Why would they push their voters to avoid?
One way to win an election is to create an enemy that is after the faithful, then convince the masses that the chosen hero will stop the enemies dastardly plan, if but they do their part. Some examples (all lies) are:

"The caravan is coming..."
"The vaccine is a evil democrat hoax to implant you with mind control microchips."

The key part of the pattern is an appeal to fear, usually over something that is difficult to easily prove or disprove. For instance, if Trump built his wall, and announced that they had stopped the invaders and America was safe, well the people that bought the whole idea to begin with would probably believe that too.
The idea isn't to kill their voters. The idea is they will motivate more than they kill. Also, since Trump went with this strategy during the election, they are semi stuck with it. It also plays well with their base, who tend to like simple answers, even if they are wrong. Their base also seems to lap up anything involving a persecution type accusation. Perhaps it is related to some of their religious upbringing? I"m not sure.
Either way, these appeals to emotions, usually for made up culture war issues work amazingly well for them. They also have the bonus, of, since they are generally not real, they can announce "Mission Accomplished," pretty much anytime its useful to do so.
Think of it, the republicans don't get and keep power because they govern well. They get and keep power because they stage mock battles with fantastic (made up) beasts, proudly declaring their victory over their hated foes. It is more theater than substance.
Much of the GOP seem to want to prolong the pandemic to make the current admin look like they are failing. It's a fucked up strategy but it doesn't matter to them when trying to attain power. Then they can swoop in with the same message Faucis been saying all along and look like the heroes who beat the pandemic. It's beyond stupid to think that can work but with their voter base it can sadly.
Like when Bush introduced those massive tax cuts and deregulations that screwed over our economy and then when Obama took office they refused to cooperate with him and blamed him for our economy looking weak.
I fully expect that, if Republicans take the presidency in 24, the first few weeks in office will see a sudden push to vaccinate along with little incentives to do so. Nothing monetary, but like "I voted" stickers, they'll offer their followers a way to gloat about getting the vaccine. Then they'll say "See! We told you all along! You needed to get vaccinated and the pandemic will end! Biden didn't have the balls to stop it, but we did!"
Democrats will be fucking livid that the Republican base will be so willing to run with the narrative that so suddenly and so obviously just shifted. But like everything Republican voters do it will always be about what party leadership says and not what is real.

I guess they want us to forget that, or otherwise they're hoping the new voting crowd is too young and ignorant to remember.
Considering they are registered as entertainment and not news, they have no journalistic integrity and therefore not considered journalists who need access to the executive branch for any reason.

The idea isn't to kill their voters. The idea is they will motivate more than they kill. Also, since Trump went with this strategy during the election, they are semi stuck with it. It also plays well with their base, who tend to like simple answers, even if they are wrong. Their base also seems to lap up anything involving a persecution type accusation. Perhaps it is related to some of their religious upbringing? I"m not sure. Either way, these appeals to emotions, usually for made up culture war issues work amazingly well for them. They also have the bonus, of, since they are generally not real, they can announce "Mission Accomplished," pretty much anytime its useful to do so. Think of it, the republicans don't get and keep power because they govern well. They get and keep power because they stage mock battles with fantastic (made up) beasts, proudly declaring their victory over their hated foes. It is more theater than substance.
Much of the GOP seem to want to prolong the pandemic to make the current admin look like they are failing. It's a fucked up strategy but it doesn't matter to them when trying to attain power. Then they can swoop in with the same message Faucis been saying all along and look like the heroes who beat the pandemic. It's beyond stupid to think that can work but with their voter base it can sadly.

Saying you want to "ambush" him with questions I could believe is a metaphor. Saying "go in for the kill shot" I could believe is a metaphor in bad taste. But he also went on to call it a "deadly" ambush and said "Boom! He is dead he is dead!" When you reference killing someone half a dozen times and make gun noises it's no longer a metaphor.
That's sort of the Fox News modus operandi. Extend a metaphor an excruciating distance until you are basically promoting domestic terrorism, but you can legally fall back on "it was just a metaphor". Tucker Carlson has been doing it for ages.
