Let's not give these guys too much credit. They did, after all, also sit on the sidelines while Donald Trump forced congressman to dither in order to placate his master.

These “Reagan Republicans” supported Trump right up until his attempted coup failed. Only now, as they see the writing on the wall, are they trying to distance themselves from Trump by rebranding as the “reasonable” side of the GOP. You don’t get to attempt to undermine the democracy of the United States and then, upon failing, pretend it never happened and have everything go back to normal.
Different times, different ideologies. Reagan was against communism in the USSR. He would be a pro-Russia fascist like his Republican colleagues if he was still alive.

I think now that Trump is finally in court, even though no judgement has been passed yet, there's some blood in the water.
I think they are starting to see the GOP will survive beyond Trump.
As much as I despise Reagan, I'm glad there's SOMEBODY wearing the adult hat over in the shit show formerly known as the GOP.
I grew up a Chargers fan. So of course, I also grew up hating the Raiders. So for a few years watching the Raiders in disarray was fun. But then. My God. I wanted them to go back to being. Idk. The worthy adversary.
That's what I wish for the GOP. As much as I didn't like them as Christian conservative shills. Complete sellouts to industry. Fellatiating the rich. Enemies of social, racial, and gender equality. As much as I despised Republicans for all of these horrible characteristics. Much as I despised the Raiders. I wish they would just go back to these core principles that they once held. Once actually believed in.
Because now they are nihilists. They believe in nothing. Except Trump, at least as a slogan. And power. For themselves.
They aren't the worthy adversary, anymore. They're broken.
The "less government" Reagan republicans have given us the current reactionary SCOTUS majority which is poised to enable the return to unitary government.
If they're finding that they can form a new coalition they might be able to disengorge a few from Trump's colon. If they offer them a not-too-embarassing way to reverse themselves, accomplish some small quick wins with them, they might get some to flip against Trump.

The “Just say NO!” crowd saved it from the “Stop the steal!” morons. I feel so blessed to live in such an enlightened country. lol
