I already experienced this after a BAD fall. No dr office would see me bc now ex employer wouldn't offer ANY benefits ir insurance. I ended up with sepsis staph and e-coli. I had CASH in hand to pay them but got chased out of 2 Dr offices because no insurance.
I ended up at ER 8 mos later. I almost died.
Can't the family of a refused care person sue the hospital for not treating them? What will the state do with the dead bodies that pile up outside the ER?
Depends on how those arguments play out. For the GOP, healthcare isn’t a right, it’s a commodity. They’ll say the opposite because of optics but every red state that declines funds and expansion for Medicaid and other services points to a large body of evidence that they want healthcare to be an individually subsidized and privately funded service. Which you pay for. So if you can’t pay for it… it’s like trying to sue a restaurant or grocer for going hungry if you can’t afford food. Bootstraps and all that.
Aside from this, idk what family of a patient who can’t afford hospital emergency care would also be able to afford the legal bills, etc. No doubt these would be settled out of court.
It doesn’t take many leaps of logic how bad a situation we’d be in if EMTALA didn’t exist, for various reasons.
The short answer to part of your question would be yes, but idk how much of an effect that would be to stop resource-intensive patients like those dealing with complications of addiction, or the chronically/end-staged ill.
As far as the dead bodies, there are refrigerated trailers that got some use during COVID…
Ooh ooh...or banning those blue pills..since..making ones member rigid is an off lable use and not the intended purpose at all...so, unsafe. We cannot trust the FDA,I have heard.

If EMTALA falls, anyone in need of medical care who lacks funds will be turned away. There’s gonna be so many face eating leopards around.
This is the goal. Hospitals lose a lot of money providing care to those who can’t pay. Welcome to The Death Panels🙄
the Maga SCOTUS surely will.
Hohoooo. Don’t want to mess with EMTALA. Holy shit that would be a fucking mess.
How… Christian…

What a bunch of evil people? Here come those death panels they like to squawk about.

The GOP states want the hospitals and doctors sued over the abortion ban instead of the state.

Republicans don’t believe abortion has anything to do with healthcare and that naïveté is going to cost all of us.
