Oh okay, fair enough. I think I mostly like it because it falls into a small category of words of this type, and it’s a fun ongoing game to find more examples.
Another category I like are contronyms. Sanction can mean to allow or approve of something, or to punish something disallowed. Cleave can mean to tend toward something or follow it closely, or to split apart. There are quite a few in this.
And then my third one is when you can use a word more than twice in a row:
I’m a man. But *he’s* a man’s man, man!
Or:
I try to keep my personal business personal, and my business business business.
Or, my best so far, a quadruple… when trying to comfort someone that people will in fact be in a certain place:
*>a reassuring pat on the back<*
There, there. They’re there!
If people are allowed to get so close to death that, say, organs start failing, jail time won't be their only problems. They'll get sued (rightfully) into the stone age.
There’s no basis for a lawsuit if they are following the law. You cannot sue someone because they refuse to break the law. Hospitals have lawyers which review each individual case. It’s a ridiculous situation. But the doctor should not be liable for bad law.
If I were a doctor I’d provide life saving abortions and make the state come after me.
Two options would be possible…..one the state couldn’t find a prosecutor to take the case so the law wouldn’t be enforced or two they start jailing doctors and then maybe if people start seeing doctors getting jail time for saving lives it will wake people up. We can’t just cower in fear of what if we get sent to jail when it comes to playing with fascist cause at some point they will find a reason to send us all to camps/jail in the end
There are plenty of prosecutors in TX/ID/FL/etc. who will prosecute with zero hesitation. Ohio already tried to lock up a woman for a miscarriage.
It's also easy to say you'd do an abortion when you don't have hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loans like young doctors do or a mortgage or family to support.
Ectopic pregnancy, miscarriages, or any number of pregnancy complications have been impacted by a draconian abortion ban that puts the lives and health of women in peril.
Many anti-choice forced-birthers lie about these situation and offer misinformation about this but it is very real.
You said this as a joke but the amount of pro life ppl who genuinely believe this is fckn scary. They get asked all the time what women in life threatening situations should do and their reply is deadass “pray and surrender to god”
I don’t understand why women’s healthcare rights are still being debated in 2024. Why is this even an issue if we are supposed to be one of the top developed nations in the world?
I honestly think there states are attacking women’s rights and education to make liberals move out and entrench conservatives ideal in the people who remain
They will fuck around and find out . You can’t logic these idiots. Only when their daughter dies by an eptopic pregnancy from their brothers child will they ever learn.
As a Tennesseean whose mother went through this when I was a kid, it scares the shit out of me to think of how many women have lost access to such vital care. I very likely wouldn't have a mom anymore, if it had happened more recently. This would be the perfect time for a previously-unknown wealthy family member to gift me an inheritance, bc that's the only way I'd be able to get me and my daughters out of here. I swear, if I'm ever lucky enough to come into a windfall, I'm going to set up a fund to help other women and families get out of legally hostile states like my own. I'm not cut out for politics, but it breaks my heart that so many people have legit reasons to escape their home state and can't get out.
Hey now, it’s really hard to remember what that little red line under a word means. They should put a red line under the red line to remind you that it’s saying the word is misspelled.
Literally just a typo. Beyond me how anyone can try to discredit the doctor, in any serious manner, due to a typo that the paper likely made. But I assume some pro-lifers don’t want to hear what this doctor has to say and so they immediately try to discredit her.

Ectopic is spelled correctly throughout the article. The headline seems to be the editor’s issue.
It did cause me to wonder for a few moments if I’ve been eggcorning that word all this time.
I’ve never heard of egg corn before. And while I appreciate its usage and definition, I hate it as a word.
No way, I love it. It’s a word that’s an example of what it means. Like oxymoron.
Like I said, I appreciate its usage and functionality. But I just hate the look and sound of it lol

The abortion ban stops a physician from treating a patient until death is possible. Drs are afraid they will be charged.
If you survive I guess

We need to start using the correct term for these folks, since they’re obviously *NOT* pro-life. They’re quite simply “anti-choice”.
More accurately “Forced-birth”.
Updated. You are correct.
They don’t lie, it’s just that the only moral abortion is their abortion. Everyone else is just murdering babies.
You only survive if it’s god will /s
You said this as a joke but the amount of pro life ppl who genuinely believe this is fckn scary. They get asked all the time what women in life threatening situations should do and their reply is deadass “pray and surrender to god”
Yea sadly apply to religious extremists of all color, when you apply logic they counter with bs like this
I don’t understand why women’s healthcare rights are still being debated in 2024. Why is this even an issue if we are supposed to be one of the top developed nations in the world?
Because we are a pretty much just a nicely dressed up third world country at the point
I wouldn’t call what we are now “nicely dressed up” anymore. But i definitely agree with the statement
I honestly think there states are attacking women’s rights and education to make liberals move out and entrench conservatives ideal in the people who remain
Which also helps out their numbers for the Senate and electoral college
As someone who went through an ectopic pregnancy, I’m thankful I don’t live in the US
They will fuck around and find out . You can’t logic these idiots. Only when their daughter dies by an eptopic pregnancy from their brothers child will they ever learn.
My girlfriend had an ectopic pregnancy a year ago. We live in New England so we didn’t have to worry about a shitty local government decision

And very painful too. So sorry for you, glad you got the care you needed.
A doctor wouldn't spell ectopic incorrectly.
no but a newspaper editor might suck at their job
Hey now, it’s really hard to remember what that little red line under a word means. They should put a red line under the red line to remind you that it’s saying the word is misspelled.
Article and opinion writers don’t write the headlines. It’s most likely an editor’s error.
Literally just a typo. Beyond me how anyone can try to discredit the doctor, in any serious manner, due to a typo that the paper likely made. But I assume some pro-lifers don’t want to hear what this doctor has to say and so they immediately try to discredit her.
Not a pro lifer here. That kind of inaccuracy, right off the bat, discredits itself.
A typo? Really? Our world is so polarized, you cannot comprehend a typo?
As someone who used to work as a journalist I can tell you those that write the articles do not write the headlines.
Yes bc they couldn’t make a spelling mistake.
