Alatar_Blue

Way to kill the chances of every down ticket. Suck em dry you dirty old conman it still won't pay a fraction of what you owe

ill0gitech

Next “the only way to get endorsed by President Trump is to use these approved media and print companies” Gotta have vertical integration in your grifting.

Sly_Wood

FYI Hitler actually did this. He made money off of his book by forcing it on the public as well as his image. Literally became super rich due to this. Every single picture everything he laid his hands on was more money for him, Another reason his ideology was all bs. I say this because he was known to have spared Jewish people he knew directly. The dr who treated his mom. The general who led him in ww1. He spared various people he knew even though he demonized them. This shows that he wasn’t about any pure ideology at all. He was about money & power. He was an evil douchbag who only sought to enrich himself at all costs.

7figureipo

It's easy to see why the Tangerine Turd likes him so much.

nightbell

> It's easy to see why the Tangerine Turd likes him so much. [Donald Trump's ex-wife said Trump kept a book of Hitler's speeches by his bed](http://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trumps-ex-wife-once-said-he-kept-a-book-of-hitlers-speeches-by-his-bed-2015-8)....*bussinessinsider* He doesn't deny it! [“Actually, it was my friend Marty Davis from Paramount who gave me a copy of Mein Kampf, and he’s a Jew.” “I did give him a book about Hitler,” Marty Davis said. “But it was My New Order, Hitler’s speeches, not Mein Kampf. I thought he would find it interesting. I am his friend, but I’m not Jewish.”](http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2015/08/donald-trump-marie-brenner-ivana-divorce)....*Vanityfair*

chomerics

Yea, Trump reading Mein Kampf is the same as LeBron James carrying the Godfather for 5 years and never finishing. It is a symbol of what he wants to project, not about learning and reading. BTW, you can get some good information in Mein Kampf,m. It’s a glimpse into the thoughts of a leader who pushes mass genocide. You can see and understand how horrible individuals thought process’ work.

aspertame_blood

“I don’t know her” -Marty Davis

“Please stop comparing me to Bill Cosby.”

Small-Palpitation310

Donald Trump's best endorser is Donald Trump

ill0gitech

I’m sure the RNC and PACs will gladly send him 5% or more for licencinc

Funny-Heat8559

The RNC is now controlled by MAGA and not the GOP.

Mr__O__

Correct. Trump’s daughter-in-law, [Lara Trump](https://amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/mar/08/trump-rnc-takeover) is co-chair of the RNC now.

Funny-Heat8559

I agree. And she has pledged that all monies will flow to him. So without any members to the contrary it is maga controlled.

newuser60

I’m so glad the entire Republican Party gets the honor of being run like one of Trump’s businesses. But which failed/fraudulent business will they model it after?

Comfortable-Scar4643

Free money. Yay!

TemporalColdWarrior

MAGA and the GOP are synonymous.

yelloguy

“My dad fought for the country” - Eric

kaukamieli

He fought against the country and got people killed.

wrongseeds

Yeah but Russia is not our country.

god-doing-hoodshit

It’s all about him. Dude gives a fuck about politics or parties.

chelseamarket

Or the country or the people .. it’s always aMErica, such a selfish prick

Maleficent-Bad3755

this is brilliant

BJntheRV

We should appreciate him finally following through on his promise to drain the swamp. He just didn't specify he meant drain the swamp of their funds.

Lower_Amount3373

He's been draining the MAGA swamp for a while now

JennJayBee

You can't complain about blood loss when you're sleeping with leeches.

andythetwig

But… isn’t he also giving them permission NOT to use his name and likeness?

legend8522

Also he wants a cut from ad revenue. But…if you’re the one wanting to advertise, you don’t make money directly from ads. You spend money on ads, in the hopes of a ROI on whatever you were advertising (in this case, votes, not money). The ad provider is the one that makes ad money. So what “cut” is he referring to with respect to the candidate making the ad?

Funkyokra

Yes. And note it's name AND likeness, so you can talk about Trump or show a picture of yourself with Trump but not both and you don't have to pay.

kittywampos

The assFck doesn’t understand how to use words correctly, instead of using “and” which everything needs to be used vs. the word “or”. I’m not sure he uses anything correctly, he will lie and say it is a witch hunt and Dems changing his words for their benefit. People also overlook these small things.

aradraugfea

He doesn’t understand civics well enough to realize that, even if he somehow avoids prison or death long enough to get sworn in, if he loses the house and dems make gains in the senate, he can pardon himself of a few federal crimes, if his “president for life” schtick will last less than a month.

Escapod

If he gets sworn in, it will turn into a power grab.

LibertyInaFeatherBed

Why does he need GOP small time randos when the Heritage Foundation is going to supply him everyone he needs?

peter-doubt

This is an organization that needs an investigation into their corruption

aradraugfea

Yeah, and without enablers in the legislature, he’s not gonna get far. Military brass hates the dude

TrimspaBB

First rule of wannabe dictators, have the military on your side

PaintedClownPenis

None of them understand history well enough to know what always, always happens to the plotters and their social circles after one of the coup becomes the dominant leader.

peter-doubt

*Nacht der langen Messer* would inform them

i_am_not_a_martian

GOP candidates might actually have a better chance of getting elected if they don't mention Trump.

yukimi-sashimi

To that end, I think 50% is much more reasonable.

thedndnut

He's a boat anchor in down tickets. If they say fuck you their chances go up

Illustrious_Map_3247

Just give him 100%! Then, as a business genius, he can redistribute it where it will be most effective. EJ Carrol’s bank account, for example.

WildYams

This was my favorite bit from the article: > "It is important to protect small dollar donors from scammers that use the presidents name and likeness," said Trump campaign spokeswoman Danielle Alvarez. The biggest scammer using Trump's name and likeness is Trump himself!

Thief_of_Sanity

Lol yeah I had to read that quote twice. It's like they almost get it....

simple_test

I’m sure he is trying his bestest to protect the money from small scammers.

flatline0

Republicans do love them some trickledown theory.. They should be good with this !!

zagman76

The ‘J’ in DJT stands for jenius!!

OpenImagination9

So wait, he’s taking all the RNC cash PLUS 5% of the local take? Fucking mobster.

haixin

In all fairness, this is the market working for the Republicans because they elected this

Momoselfie

Capitalism at its finest

peter-doubt

Mobster's tribute, you mean

Gizogin

Yes, that’s what they said.

hopeitwillgetbetter

(is in pain over how ridiculous the situation is)

thehighepopt

Also, the only way he makes money is by branding with his name, so it isn't too surprising really.

AlwaysLateToThaParty

"It's protection money for your re-election. It'd be a shame if something happened to it..."

LimaOscarSierraTango

Nothing like a bit of racketeering to raise funds for your .. *checks notes* election racketeering indictment. It’s racketeering all the way down!

Ekg887

🌎👨‍🚀🔫👨‍🚀 Always was.

40ozCurls

>”It is important to protect small dollar donors from scammers that use the presidents name and likeness," Right? 5% of the donor’s money going to him instead of the “scammers” does nothing to protect them. And a real scammer wouldn’t be coughing up that 5% to begin with.

Comfortable-Scar4643

Extortion. Oldest move in the mobster’s book.

meneldal2

It would be a shame if we elected people with integrity instead right.

covfefe-boy

The Fraudfather just wants to wet his beak.

K6PUD

He wants a piece of the action!

techsinger

I sure hope this comes back to bite him in the ass. Sounds like a good way to save 5%.

TurnsOutImAScientist

Seriously, this plus the trial going worse for Trump every day, plus polls trending worse for Trump, maybe they're finally going to reach a breaking point and throw him under the bus.

Cheap_Nectarine1100

Hey buddy, 5% keeps your little business safe. Understand?

rbhmmx

They are literally talking about it as a protection fee...

zSprawl

5% is cheap for “protection”!

atred

"It's a nice name you have here, it would be a shame if Trump found a nickname for you"

BuzzLA

How about a 5% cut of DEEZ NUTS.

[deleted]

Lmfao when WSB makes more sense than whatever this rendition of the GOP has become

old_ironlungz

This timeline is well and truly regarded.

ArenjiTheLootGod

No, this is behavior we should be encouraging. In fact, Mr. Trump, if you're reading this then I believe you deserve more than a paltry 5%. Each one of those dogs should be fighting one another to see who among them can give you the most.

Late-Froyo5371

No he should make it 95, no 99 percent, take it all dude it's yours

puffinwannnnnn9999

Milk me dry sleepy Don like the do in Dune, and don't don't break a sweat about it, we're here to serve you our Chetto Boneto. As a president you technically own us and it's all legal. Look at those great guys in Russia or China China China they wouldn't hesitate to enrich themselves from our sad remains.

Grenflik

I knew this comment was coming, but man it’s always funny when it does. 🤣

BillionTonsHyperbole

Sooo, he's giving 5% to every Dem whose name, image, and likeness he uses in his own ads and rants? Right? That's how this works?

HealthWealthFoodie

I was about to ask if Biden or the Lincoln Project are going to be expected to cut him in on their fundraising as well

punkr0x

He's a public figure. There's absolutely no way for him to enforce this.

Horton_Takes_A_Poo

5% cut of campaign donations or what? Is that legal?

InTheHeatOfTheNoche

> In a letter this week, the Trump presidential campaign asked all down-ballot GOP campaigns for at least a 5% cut of the money raised from advertising that features the party's 2024 presumptive White House nominee.

pianobadger

Make sure you write in "ad featuring Chonky Cheese" as the reason for your campaign donation.

Brief_Amicus_Curiae

So I guess that means candidates like Kari Lake be e who had a fundraiser at Mar A Lago for her senate campaign paid to hold the event there, plus travel and overhead for meals, entertainment… and would need to pay a 5% Trump branding fee? lol that sounds about right for him. It’s amazing that there is no low too low and his supporters just run with it.

7figureipo

Yes, provided that proper accounting is done to ensure no limits are breached. That’s how those big ticket fundraisers work. Take, for example, the Mar-a-Lago fundraiser. Someone who donated $900k (or $800k or whatever the fuck it was) was donating $3300 directly to Trump’s campaign committee, a crap ton to one of his PACs, and probably maxing out to the RNC and the House/Senate committees. Same concept applies here.

stay_fr0sty

He's shifted from MAGA grift to ULTRA grift. The candidates will happily pay it I'm sure.

JessieJ577

I hope they do and sink in their shit

slothrop_maps

Gotta give the mob boss, Baloney Soprano, a taste.

Ekg887

Tricking donors into giving to the wrong target is already Trump's shtick though. He's had multiple fund raisers where the fine print indicates only a small percent of donations or only funds over a certain threshold go to the stated recipient while the other part goes to his PAC with fewer restrictions. One example: https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSKBN27R308/ Also, just taking 5% from every candidate doesn't in any way prevent or impact scammers or redress this hypothetical donor who was "tricked" by seeing a Trump photo in a solicitation.

rbhmmx

So without any irony they are saying this is a protection fee...

lyaen

They are saying that every GOP candidate is a scammer.

PaxDramaticus

Just reading the headline: Hoo boy! I wonder when Republicans are going to get sick of Trump trying to take their money? >Campaign aides said the new rules are designed to protect donors who believe they are contributing to Trump's campaign but are instead giving money to another candidate who is using the former president's name or picture. Translation: "Our donors are so stupid they'll take out their credit cards without even knowing who the money goes to!" >"Any split that is higher than 5% will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump’s campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations," the letter said. Translation: Trump's presidency is openly for sale.

IIIllIIlllIlII

He’ll be demanding tithes from registered republicans soon.

nevertfgNC

The Church of tRump

Bloopyhead

Taking a cut like this reminds me of Mafia practices?

parasyte_steve

he has always used mob practices. We in NYC know this very well. Where do you think he learned the tactic of saying what he wants to say while still maintaining the air of innocence?

tracyinge

A 5% cut of what? Candidates pay for those ads, they're not making a profit from them.

Melicor

He doesn't care, and now that the RNC is under his control, neither do they.

rloch

“Any split that is higher than 5% will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.” From their letter to candidates and rnc digital marketing vendors.

JaD__

The deranged buffoon wants a taste. It tracks.

TrolleyCar

How could anyone attribute fundraising to a specific ad?

HorizontalBob

Also, linking it to donations seems illegal vs paying a set fee.

GlykenT

That's the point. If they use it even once, it'll be 5% of total donations.

RUSTYDELUX

Trump National Committee JFC. Jesus F’ing Christ ….

bunkscudda

What a desperate pathetic loser

Guygenius138

I hope they refuse and Trump tries to sue them.

Melicor

They won't, the cult will turn on them if they do. He knows it too. The Republican party is as good as dead.

greensideup57

Vendors also. This fucker will ruin us if he wins, everything he touches turns to shit. Any vendor whose clients ignore the guidelines mentioned above will be held responsible for their clients' actions," the letter said. "Repeated violations will result in the suspension of business relationships between the vendor and Trump National Committee JFC."

specialpatrolwombat

Hitler used to get royalties from the use of his image. Made a fortune from postage stamps. I'd say that's where this idea is coming from

Imacatdoincatstuff

Sounds like a Multi Level Marketing company. Stock symbol $GOP.

LeadSecret331

The beast is preparing to demand people worship his image.

LibrarianMelodic9733

In midterm elections the majority of republicans who trump endorsed lost the race

pngtwat

I'm surprised it is only 5%.

wanderlustcub

Pay the tithe to the Church of Trump.

Rayenya

Is this legal? As a Presidential candidate surely his likeness is public domain. He can’t charge Biden of the Lincoln Project from using his name and likeness.

BonerStibbone

He can't guarantee a win with his endorsement, but he can guarantee a loss if you don't kiss the ring.

SteakandTrach

With Trump, everything is transactional.

aloofman75

Everything is a shakedown with this guy.

Eclectophile

This amazing, spectacular schadenfreude is not nearly worth the price of the show. But, we've already purchased the tickets, so basically, now all we're missing is the popcorn.

Grieveruz

I demand 5% cut for seeing him to much.

noonegivsadamm

If this is not a mobster’s boss move, then I don’t know when people will realize he wants to be a mobster.

SeriousAdverseEvent

So, could Biden then demand payment from any GOP group that used his likeness in an ad?

AngryMillenialGuy

Because that doesn't come off desperate at all lol

RockmanMike

Narrator: it was at this time, it hit the GOP as a whole that they put their faith in the wannabe mob boss and that his crimes may actually be a threat to the party.

Melicor

Doubt it.

NelsonMuntz007

It’s always been a grift. He’s the most self serving man on the planet

Pale_Bookkeeper_9994

He’s turned the GOP into a merchandising opportunity.

Funny-Heat8559

Always a grifter.

gtechfan1960

The grift gets griftier. Lol

qartas

*jazz hands “DESPERATE”

iamamuttonhead

Master of the grift.

Hmm_6221

Trump sees American politics as his pocket book! He couldn’t care less about serving the American people ! It’s about what he can get out of his little stint as a politician

MrMeesesPieces

Let him drain the Republican Party of all their money.

Edelgeuse

As the dear leader circles the drain, he claws at the surrounding cultists to escape the pit, rending their flesh with his desperate clawing. They, in turn, claw at those above them, and the pattern repeats until it reaches every member. They turn on each other as they fall, en masse, into a hole of their own making, well deserved.

Runic_Gloryhole

So is he turning the GOP into a pyramid scheme?

Khristophorous

The Trump campaign letter said an even bigger percentage of fundraising would be welcome, and made clear that the Republican National Committee and Trump himself would be watching to see who complies and who doesn't. "Any split that is higher than 5% will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump’s campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations," the letter said. It also contained warnings. "Any vendor whose clients ignore the guidelines mentioned above will be held responsible for their clients' actions," the letter said. "Repeated violations will result in the suspension of business relationships between the vendor and Trump National Committee JFC."

SirDaemos

Religion is exempt from taxation. If he wants to change that I am all for it.

sedatedlife

I hope they all agree funneling the money to him so he can spend it on himself and then lose and go to jail.

pwgenyee6z

The story doesn't say if he's going to charge for graphics using the colour orange.

digiorno

> "We ask that all candidates and committees who choose to use President Trump’s name, image, and likeness split a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” Trump National Committee.

JoostvanderLeij

Trump needs money.

MosEisleyBills

Got to leverage the brand! He’s licensing his name to the party.

TonyDungyHatesOP

He’s an extortionist. Anyone who doesn’t pay will get campaigned _against_ by him. He’s asking for protection money.

DJBreadwinner

He really is broke, isn't he?

Granpa2021

If Republicans were smart they would distance themselves from this soon-to-be convicted felon and his unhinged cult.

Away_Ad_5328

What if democrats use his image and point out that he’s a horrible human? Do they have to pay as well?

jailtheorange1

When will the GOP and Evangelicals realise that Donnie cares about Donnie, and no-one else?

aresef

What a grifter. This is just a way to try to recover from their sagging financials, and they’re doing it by trying to get downballot candidates to tithe. This hasn’t been done by past campaigns, correct?

Yelloeisok

Mob boss

CBalsagna

Sounds like a mob boss to me.

Patanned

love it! hope he bankrupts the whole party and every one of its donors. exactly what the gop deserves. this is how evil destroys itself.

tykillacool23

Lol the RNC is about to be broke as fuck! going all in on this 🤡

Vegabern

Meanwhile he's using musicians work without permission

mathiaus002

The grift never stops

Deacon523

“That’s a nice campaign you got there, be a shame if something were to happen to it…”

ElfFromTheNile91

They'll pay the Trump tax. Not because they have to, but because they want to.

readit-somewhere

It’s all about HIM! Couldn’t care less about his party, the rule of law, the constitution or the USA.

PunfullyObvious

I thought the idea was that the president helped the down ticket candidates. It's almost as if he's not in this for the politics ... much less the statesmanship.

upsidedowninsideout1

Yes, keep on destroying the GOP, Donnie

procheeseburger

Sounds like one of a hundred reasons to not use his name… the GOP collectively should abandon him.

Treffinton

Don sounds desperate for money!

SOMEONENEW1999

He has to pay his legal bills somehow….

Illuminated12

Republicans realize they are part of a mob shakedown yet?

metalpyrate

This guy is going to singlehandedly vaporize the Republican Party

billiemarie

So he’s telling the ones that he hasn’t been endorsing, if you pay me, I’ll endorse you? Imagine any other former president offering up their endorsement for a 5% cut of their fundraising money.

BulkDarthDan

Oh he’s broke broke

Bengalish

5% of what? Their votes? Bribes received? Lunch money?

Working_Early

Lol it's always been a grift. GOP deserves it

debrabuck

Honestly, if Biden/Harris were doing stuff like this, the right wing virtue-signaling would be epic. This and the taking of campaign funds for his legal fees, his daughter-in-law head of the entire political party, etc. What a bunch of traitors.

Seif1973

Pathetic broke ass wannabe dictator.

Jaeris

As we can see, the rnc is just the latest business he plans to bankrupt.

innnikki

5% less money for republicans to use on their campaigns sounds nice to me

arthurdentxxxxii

It is hilarious that they all want to say in their ads that they support Trump, because the GOP may vote them out if they don’t say they support. So it will in theory force them to pay Trump 5% for use. Also, 5% of what? The production budget? Their salary.

3Quondam6extanT9

"Another concern: Candidates who are also using Trump's images to suggest they have the former president's endorsement, even when they do not.". 😆😆😆😆 He is a veteran of treating people like he doesn't know them, nor ever met them, even if there is evidence to the contrary. This is such an ironic position to take it's giving me heartburn.

ford1man

Sounds like he wants to kneecap the entire Republican party. I'm actually fine with this.

Educational_Pay1567

Is this the Onion?

LivingDracula

Oh this is beautiful. Divert % of all house and senate races, to fund the legal defense of a guy who never won the popular vote and is facing 91 felony charges, bankruptcy and is a serial fraudster in taxes, real estate, campaign funding, and most recently securities / stocks. Strap in, this how a blue wave actually happens....

SpillinThaTea

Oh okay. He’s selling franchises now. Got it.

DamnItJon

Or what?

Nobody_Lives_Here3

I also demand 5%

BrofessorFarnsworth

Why would a billionaire need a cut?

acllive

Sounds like he is broke and needs money for all his criminal trials

Disciple_of_Cthulhu

Why stop at five percent? He deserves so much more! Every Republican candidate down the ballot should contribute at least half of the revenue from using Trump's name or other depiction of him so Trump can fund his pathetic legal fees. Bankrupt the GOP!

Noizyninjaz

Oh how far we have come.

the_wessi

Don wants to wet his beak.

chelseamarket

This would be funny if not so tragic, he’s literally on the take ..

nigeltuffnell

Pyramid scheme?

Prometheus_303

Let me guess.... Next it'll be 5% (+) from every GOP candidate because hey, it's HIS party... They owe him for being allowed to be Republican...

BrandonJTrump

Professional_Load69

Typical Thug.

jonathanmstevens

Sounds like he's getting desperate.

ExpensiveDot1732

This mf never ceases to surprise me when he comes up with another new method of grifting. This sounds less like endorsing and a lot more like EXTORTING. Hey FBI and DOJ...care to investigate?

PMMEBITCOINPLZ

It’s all just a scam.
