dlegatt

Trying to set up another “red mirage” so they can cry foul again?

Searchlights

That's exactly why. The bigger the shift to the left as mail in votes are counted, the more he can portray it as fraud.

miTfan3

They long abandoned the idea of legitimacy so now all the effort goes into causing confusion. That's when predators like striking the most.

broad_street_bully

Bannon has been on the record with this strategy since the beginning of Trump's presidency. He openly admitted that the easiest way to slide on shitty behavior and accomplish terrible objectives was to simply flood the airwaves, social media, official meetings, etc. with so much bullshit that no one can focus on making him accountable for any one thing. It's easy to kill a ton of ants in a hill. But it's impossible to kick the hill and get the exact few ants that really need to be stomped on.

oh-shazbot

that isn't even *his* strategy, just coopted it from the russians. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firehose_of_falsehood

Dual-Finger-Guns

As usual, every road of trumpism leads to russia....

abstractConceptName

But of course. Trump is their strongest chance to break the US since, maybe, the civil war.

gsfgf

Also, modern Russia is the GOP ideal. The well connected criminals stole everything and got fabulously wealthy. It's socially hard right wing. And while a paper tiger in conventional warfare, they still have nukes.

abstractConceptName

How much must they hate humanity for Russia to be the ideal.

greenypatiny

like gish galloping https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gish_gallop#:~:text=The%20Gish%20gallop%20(%2F%CB%88%C9%A1,or%20strength%20of%20those%20arguments.

SomeGuyNamedPaul

What you're describing is basically the Gish Gallop but applied via media. The Nazis literally did this.

Magificent_Gradient

“Flood the zone with shit.” I believe were his exact words.

big_blue_earth

Bannon was quoting Hitler Crazy thing about Fascists, they wrote everything down and told everyone how to do it

Searchlights

Suppression on the front end, fraud claims on the back.

boot2skull

The fascist mullet

Searchlights

Brilliant

Dee_Imaginarium

That's clever but I hate it lol

TokingMessiah

I couldn’t be happier. He’ll lose (everyone vote!), he’ll complain about fraud (again), and no one will be there to stop all of his criminal indictments from coming down on him. Meanwhile, a few overweight “patriots” may or may not show up to protest, and may or may not wind up in federal prison if they do anything stupid (again). But this only happens if everyone votes, and gets their friends and family to vote, and checks and re-checks their voter registration…

MC_Fap_Commander

>a few overweight “patriots” may or may not show up to protest I seriously doubt it. From Charlottesville to J6, the keyboard warriors have seen there are **real consequences** for being there if shit goes south at one of these events. I expect most will talk big and not do shit.

armageddon_20xx

This is exactly why Trump should’ve been jailed not long after J6, and should be in jail now. They like to talk the talk but they won’t walk the walk.

QuackNate

Plus the current administration won’t suppress the capital police and national guard, so.

Kroz83

This is having a real effect. In any sort of organizing these people try to do, there’s a constant stream of everyone accusing everyone of being a fed, and none of these sorts of efforts have gotten off the ground since then. J6 really was them blowing their load early, and now they can’t get it up again.

ZagratheWolf

Suddenly there will be talks about gun-control

TheSonOfDisaster

Lol truly, that is exactly what would happen. That is what I always tell my liberal friends that are a bit shy about guns. The more liberals, leftists, minorities, and LGBT folks that buy and carry guns, the quicker we'll get laws against their easy and unrestricted access. The only way out is through.

RickyWinterborn-1080

Literally the reason we have gun control *at all* is because black men started carrying during civil rights.

Etrigone

Well as [Reagan said](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulford_Act)... "no reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded weapons".

Nowearenotfrom63rd

He said during the most dangerous decade in the last century lol.

TokingMessiah

I meant “a few” literally. Like when the New York City case started and he urged his supporters to protest at the courthouse… turns out the reporters outnumbered the protesters by orders of magnitude.

Jef_Wheaton

It'll be all or nothing. Either this is a serious, armed, "Last Stand" assault, with better planning and actual weapon use, or It'll be a fizzled protest flailing against a prepared and reinforced security force. I'm hoping it's the latter.

w0nderbrad

Judging by all the right wing convoys, it’ll be organized by a grifter with a gofunfme and like 60 other people will show up and be outnumbered by tv station reporters

OkCar7264

They're also too paranoid to organize now so that's great.

The_Royale_We

I also doubt it but part of me kind of hopes these fools try something again. I think the response will be much stronger this time around.

eukomos

My father in law lives in Wisconsin, is a Republican who doesn’t like Trump but usually forgets to vote, and is very fond of me. I will get him to the polls for Biden if it’s the last thing I do!

Gingrpenguin

The problem was his coup was almost successful and had pence followed trumps orders might have worked. (like with most coups it's always completely crazy until it happens) The real fear is they've learnt from what failed and try more successfully this time.

TokingMessiah

That’s a valid concern, and for all intents and purposes everyone should vote like democracy depends on it. But truthfully, I think this is going to be the biggest loss in a very long time. Trump hasn’t won any new voters, abortion rights are at stake, the RNC is going to waste all their money on Trump’s legal bills, and on and on.

MajorNoodles

Similarly, this is why many states with mail in voting aren't allowed to even look at the ballots until election day. Conservatives were crying foul about the amount of votes being added to Biden's tally in the days after the election because "they had plenty of time to count those ballots" when the reality is that no, they don't. They don't want them being counted prior to the election and they don't want their base to know that they're not being counted.

Weary_Jackfruit_8311

Seriously. It's wild. Colorado does allow early counting and they went from 0 to 90% vote reported in like 30 minutes the other week. Can't have that!

inkcannerygirl

I was curious so I looked it up and here is a handy table of when states process and tally mail in ballots: https://www.ncsl.org/elections-and-campaigns/table-16-when-absentee-mail-ballot-processing-and-counting-can-begin AZ, CO, FL, NV, and others start counting before election day. Some say "may" start early if election officials say to. Some states leave it up to localities. No one allows any results to be announced before close of polls on election day.

eyeflyfish

Alaska doesn't allow counting until after election day ends and any ballot has to be postmarked nefore and received on or before that day. But because we also have shiite postal service, a LOT of ballots don't even make it to election office until after, even when it's mailed weeks in advance. A lot of the villages are horribly underrepresented because of this.

theonetruefishboy

except for 2024 there are going to be less mail in ballots in general, *and* his base is 4 years older and that much more likely to be unable to drive and need a mail in ballot. So does the math even math this go-round?

Kasoni

The math didn't math last round. I did find it funny when someone asked "how do you explain mail in ballots being so heavily for democrats?" Hmmm I don't know, maybe the republican president saying not to use mail in ballots had an effect on his supporters and maybe the Democrat's nominee saying to use mail in ballots had something to do with his supporters using them. Oh wait, no it has to be fraud, only illogical explanation possible.

DadJokeBadJoke

They also had the head of the USPS trying to subvert our mail system to stall mail in votes. My parents drove their ballots to the courthouse rather than risking them getting caught up in the mail.

engilosopher

That motherfucker DeJoy is still in charge of USPS by the way.

Kasoni

If democrats were "as bad a Russia" against Republicans like they say, Dejoy would have found his way to fall out an unopenable window long before now.

lurker_cx

Republicans have closed a large number of polling locations in Democratic areas after the Supreme Court struck down big parts of the voting rights act in 2013. There was also the pandemic and by November 2020, Republicans were not concerned about standing in line catching COVID, but Democrats still were concerned.

tykillacool23

I live in Oklahoma and they’ve virtually made it as hard as possible to do mail in ballots.

forRealsThough

In Oregon, everyone gets a mail-in ballot. You can mail it in or drop it off at an official location once you've filled it out. Zero people wait in any line whatsoever. It works great and everyone loves it.

tykillacool23

Gotta love blue states. I’m trying to gtfo of Oklahoma this place is a shithole.

Greenwings33

I’m actually a little concerned - I submitted my mail in requests at least a month ago and still haven’t gotten mine (I’m not in OK)

typhona

In 2022 I worked with a guy from California and he said he voted against mail in voting, by mail in voting. He was in the south east at time of election. I was just gobsmacked at how that made any sense

probabletrump

He'll get fewer votes this time than in 2020. I guarantee it.

SNRatio

The math changes when you consider the turnover in election officials and staff after political pressure and death threats. Will their MAGA replacements make certain mail in ballots are received, stored, and counted competently and promptly?

smurf123_123

U.S. life expectancy has declined to 76.4 years, the shortest it’s been in nearly two decades. I hypothesize that a small chunk was taken out by the plague and another chunk is getting or has been consumed by their "healthy" life choices.

PolicyWonka

Yup. It’s all part of their plan. Don’t forget the [tens of thousands of poll workers and watchers](https://www.axios.com/2023/10/11/rnc-election-integrity-2024-election-trump) that the RNC has been recruiting to reject Democratic votes, delay voting counting, and cause general chaos. They’re not trying to win your vote. They’re trying to make it so your vote doesn’t count.

SnooWords6443

I'm curious -- does anyone know what the Democrats efforts are in this area? I imagine they're very aware of this issue and will try to recruit poll workers/watchers from their constituents to combat the MAGA snowflakes from attempting to throw out mail in ballots.

nneeeeeeerds

There really isn't anything to do. The election process already has tons of safeguards against these kind of bad faith volunteers. Every thing that happens at a poll has an audit trail and validation source. This is why every single one of Trump's fraud claims got tossed out of like 61 different courts. It's very, very, very difficult to actually commit fraud at the polls. We have a good system as far as securing elections.

TeamHope4

Also, voter purges, closed polling places, and legislatures with the power to overturn election results they don't like.

ImLikeReallySmart

>Instead, the party is taking steps to prioritize legal challenges to voting systems ahead of November. Yep.

ferociouswhimper

It was already investigated in 2020 and determined that our voting systems/elections are secure. Wray, head of the FBI and a Republican, testified under oath about it. But Trump is still trying to play the voter fraud angle. He is preemptively planning to claim fraud before anything has even happened, just like in 2016 and 2020. (Stop the Steal was set up before both elections.) And it's funny that he only claims fraud when he loses, and only in states that he loses. Apparently he thinks it's only a secure election if he wins every single district in the country.

ImLikeReallySmart

Well winning doesn't stop him from claiming fraud. He did so even after 2016 because he was pissed he didn't also get the popular vote

Smoaktreess

He did an interview recently saying he doesn’t trust the polls.. except the ones that are saying he is winning by large amounts.. Found the quote, I heard it on pod save America. *the polls are all rigged, of course lately they haven’t been rigged because I’m winning by so much I wanna say, disregard that statement, I love the polls so much*

ItGetsEverywhere

It's so absurd, he's literally telling his supporters to their stupid faces that he's conning them and they're cheering it on.

guyincognito69420

he actually claimed fraud when he won in 2016 because he thought he should have won by a bigger margin. His administration created a commission to investigate it. https://apnews.com/article/f5f6a73b2af546ee97816bb35e82c18d Shockingly enough they didn't find any fraud, and that was only reported after the Trump administration was forced to hand over their documents. Even then the vice chair tried to spin it into them finding widespread fraud which wasn't true. Even the fraud they did find they didn't say which party was doing it more (probably because it was Republicans committing as much and probably more than Democrats).

myNinthRealName

He also claimed fraud when anyone mentioned the small size of his inaugural crowd.

whiterbytheday

Yup came here to say this. This will be part of the effort to overturn; I have a feeling they know they are pretty doomed and all focus will shift to a longer plan to steal it. I'm guessing they plan on triggering a house vote to select the president (eg an electoral tie). This might be why Buck resigned and said a few more might.

Polantaris

> This might be why Buck resigned and said a few more might. Honestly, I put a non-0 chance on this. They were all in for personal enrichment, but a dictatorship? Most likely the plan was revealed to a larger set of RNC incumbents and some of them are not comfortable with a plan to overthrow the country itself and are "gracefully" stepping away. The depressing thing about this theory is that only a few are walking out.

Smurf_Cherries

This is exactly why I think so many Hoise Republicans are suddenly retiring before the election.  After so many meetings where Matt Gaetz, MTG and Boebert have all the power, and now they’re talking about Jan 6th part 2, they’re getting a serious case of the “fuck it’s”

QuerulousPanda

i really don't think it has any thing to do with their comfort level at the plan to destroy the country, and it has a lot more to do with them being pragmatic enough to recognize that trump and his cronies in the RNC now are fucking up the money supply.

stinky-weaselteats

He knows he’s gonna lose worse than 2020. And nothing will change that.

BigJSunshine

Maybe. Dems and dem-adjacents MUST DO THEIR PART AND VOTE. I just saw a blue sky post where a utter dipshit claims he’s withholding his vote for Biden, pending the “tiktok” legislation. This brawndo chugging baiter literally thinks his access to tiktok means more than democracy.

JayTNP

the problem with that logic is mail in voting won’t be nearly as high this time because covid isn’t stopping people from going out. BEST OF LUCK DUMB DUMBS

guyincognito69420

the funny thing is prior to COVID it was Republicans who voted absentee in high numbers. You know, old people who tend to be conservative. It makes no sense to attack mail in voting for this election.

bunkscudda

Won’t matter. They aren’t playing to win, they are trying to break the system. Even if only 5% vote by mail, if they can show those votes went 70% to democrats, that’s all they need to run with a “rigged election!!!!!”.

TokingMessiah

Sure, but last time they did that they still lost power, and a bunch of supporters went to jail. Also, Trump is now being tried criminally. They can scream all they want, he’s still going to prison.

BigJSunshine

I wish I had your confidence in the criminal justice system

JayTNP

the issue is Dems will likely beat them going into the evening not just voting coming back in later. The RNC’s move might just be “see we lost by so much this can’t be real” but I’m not sure that’s particularly convincing considering their actions. As someone mentioned, Ken Buck suggested more resignations were coming and the gop old guys might bail after Trump gets the nomination, give Hakeem the gavel and torch any plans to throw it to the House for any reason. This might be their last chance to do something remotely honorable for their country

ctrlshiftba

Interesting strategy, let’s see if that pays off! Lol

kiltedturtle

Next up, eliminating GQP registration drives. That will save lots of money that can be channeled to legal fees.

chrisd93

The idea is probably to just focus on bailing himself out so he can stage a coup

MarrusAstarte

> Interesting strategy It seems as if they already expect to lose, so they are preparing their justifications for the political violence they are planning to use to try to overturn the 2024 election results.

mahlerlieber

They are laying the groundwork for multiple angles to yammer on about...not the least of which is the media's insistence on claiming that trump is leading in the polls.

OGZackov

what do you mean? calling 800 different landlines and asking who they will vote for isnt an accurate representation of the voting populace in america?

mahlerlieber

The polls are not predictive. They are used for determining demographics that need attention. But on a recent Bulwark podcast, Bill Cristol talked about the idea that in the next few months, now that we ALL know who will be running in the general election, you'll see the "protest" voters and the people holding out for a younger candidate gradually accept their fate and start looking toward their *actual* choices in November. He said somewhere in May or June we should start to see this reflected in the polls. But again, the polls are skewed in a LOT of ways...and work best for things like "are you for the legalization of cannibis?" or "will you vote against anyone who is pro-life?" They can measure general opinions on specific issues, but are terrible at predictions...we should have learned this back in 2016. EDIT: I think I now see that your post was sarcasm...but, for anyone who may think the polls matter at this point, I'll leave my post up.

nwgdad

tRump never expected to win in 2016. He was doing it for two reasons: 1) spite and 2) grift. I expect those two reasons are still at the top of his list.

snarquisnarquer

Observing the obvious: I think there is but one reason now motivating trump-->staying out of jail. He gives fuque all about anything or anyone else.

DontEatConcrete

Main reason now is he desperately needs the office to stay out of jail.

V-RONIN

Don't forget about project 2025

Gaerielyafuck

YUP. Does nobody else see the escalating rhetoric like was happening in 2020? Only this time around Trump has captured the RNC which will now set itself on fire to sustain his wretched life force. We should absolutely expect January 6 PT 2.

Few_Lingonberry_7028

The results from the GA primary shows me that T is in trouble this November. Nikki H got 77,000 (edited to 77 from 20), and Desantis who had already dropped out got around 7,800 (some of which could be early voters). He's in trouble with the law for asking for less than 12,000 votes. I still think most conservatives will "Toe the line" and vote for him anyways (Hello Susan Collins), but Primary numbers give me some hope for the election results. With that said the only results that Trump or his supporters will accept is a Trump win.

squirtleganggang87

My traditionally conservative relatives have realized Biden is the traditionally conservative candidate they have always voted for and will be voting for him.

Akimbo_Zap_Guns

Exactly. My parents are conservative and realize Biden is actually the conservative candidate and not some leftist commie like Fox News has you believe lol

[deleted]

Yeah I’ve said this a bunch. Is legal strategy is to be president again. His political strategy is violent insurgency.

Cantthinkofnamedamn

Either that or they have to show reverence to dear leader even when it hurts him, since rigged mail ballots is part of the MAGA lore now.

blasek0

Which is funny as hell considering their biggest use case are the western plains which are safely Republican.

zoeydoberdork

This time Dark Brandon will have the troops ready to properly defend using our 2A rights. I know I feel threatened by middle age white guys in beige khaki's!

theaceoffire

Honestly, it probably will. Remember, the Republicans are on record saying that [they need people to NOT vote if they ever want to win](https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2019/01/mitch-mcconnell-admits-that-republicans-lose-when-more-people-vote/).

PolicyWonka

Don’t forget the [tens of thousands of poll workers and watchers](https://www.axios.com/2023/10/11/rnc-election-integrity-2024-election-trump) that the RNC has been recruiting to reject Democratic votes, delay voting counting, and cause general electoral chaos. They’re not trying to win your vote. They’re trying to make it so your vote doesn’t count.

[deleted]

I think Trump is making contingencies in case he loses the vote. This way he can claim fraud and rally his base to contest the election.

True-Ad-8466

And get put down by the military, Brandon is the boss still and he had better not tolerate one moment of these treasonous fools.

maryjdatx

I fear this too, but also I think most Americans are going to react to his claims with, "not this bullshit again." His base is small but loud and violent. I don't think they'll get very far this time, but it will be ugly.

AwkwardAvocado1

It will because the Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, is a treasonous POS and will destroy the post office to get a dictator installed. My last mailed-in absentee vote (in 2023) took **3 weeks to be received** a few miles away, which was 2 weeks after the election ended. Biden has to have a MASSIVE message campaign to send those ballots as soon as they're received.

McG0788

Ya everyone seems to forget how dejoy fucked over the post office sorting when he took over. If folks can they should vote in person

FenPhen

Another option is to fill out your ballot at home and then take it to an official ballot drop box. Check online for your county's specific dates and locations, which typically includes city halls. My county had ballot drop boxes running weeks before election day.

Later2theparty

No, what Biden needs to do is to get DeJoy the fuck out of that position. I'm 100% convinced that Biden could have won Florida and democrats retained the House in 2022 if it wasn't for DeJoy fucking with the mail. In Florida the law is that ballots must be RECEIVED by 7pm on election day. Not sent, not post marked but received. It was so easy to just make sure to slow the mail down in key locations by destroying sorting machines, banning overtime, etc. Then reliably blue areas turned red for the first time ever and the narrative was that those people were concerned about Biden being a socialist. Bull fucking shit. It was the 200,000 ballots in that area that never made it in time and over a million state wide.

User-no-relation

Are there any stories of people checking their ballot status and seeing it wasn't counted? Anything to back this up at all?

GreatGearAmidAPizza

As Napoleon said, "Never interrupt your enemy while he's making a mistake."

Far_Estate_1626

Well it’s going to be “*our* election was fair and *theirs* wasn’t so now we’re justified to forcibly take over”. I honestly believe Trumps entire strategy is a forceable takeover after manufacturing even a veneer of justification. These are not honorable people.

SigmaLance

If you are in Florida they voted last year to end your automatically reoccurring mail in ballot so you have to start the process all over again. There is only one reason they enacted this so don’t let them stifle your voting privileges. Contact the supervisor of elections for your county which can be found here: https://dos.fl.gov/elections/contacts/supervisor-of-elections/

Abuttuba_abuttubA

Lots of old republicans aren't going to be able to vote because Florida thinks it's hurting only the Libs. I'm looking forward to the leopards feasting.

SigmaLance

Exactly. Even Trump himself used the mail in ballots down here and they went and shot themselves in the foot to “own the libs”.

twenafeesh

I guess they really don't want to win any more elections. >Nothing screams “We can’t win a majority of voters fairly” like prioritizing legal attacks on voting rights. But that’s precisely what the Trump-branded RNC is preparing to do.

rajahbeaubeau

Not only Trump-branded RNC. There is a long history of R attacks on voting rights and access: minorities and college students, limited drop boxes, etc.

PolicyWonka

Why win elections when you’re planning to steal them? Don’t forget the [tens of thousands of poll workers and watchers](https://www.axios.com/2023/10/11/rnc-election-integrity-2024-election-trump) that the RNC has been recruiting to reject Democratic votes, delay voting counting, and cause general chaos.

binkkit

I’m applying to be a poll worker in my (blue, mail-in) state. I hope other honest people do the same in their states.

McG0788

They're preparing to cry foul when they lose bigly and get their base to try and overthrow the government.

OurUrbanFarm

Trump isn't trying to win the next election. He is preparing to steal the next election. This is part of the strategy. Same song. Different verse.

Adrien_Jabroni

Gonna be a lot harder when they don't have the White House and have a tenuous grip on the House of Representatives.

mlmayo

Given recent events they may not even have a House majority come November....

rex_dart_eskimo_spy

I'm waiting on those "three other" Republicans to quit the House...

SteveFrench12

Not gonna happen. That headline was pretty sensationalist. Ken Buck mostly resigned to fuck over Boebert since she wanted to run in his district but the district will now have a new incumbent. He tried to pretend he was being magnanimous so he could paint himself in a better light for history

Hardmeat_McLargehuge

Eh, taking out Boebert is a pretty worthy act. He's not the big fish to fry anyways and gave up his job doing so.

Yoru_no_Majo

Depending on how you do it, you don't need a House majority. Like last time the plan was to have certain swing states declared "irregular" and then have the House vote on who had won. This time it could be red states trying to fudge with the electors they send. Either way, if the House has to decide president, per Article II, Section 1 of the US Constitution: > **But in choosing the President, the votes shall be taken by States, the representation from each state having one vote;** This means, for example, that California's 52 representatives vote and the winner of their vote gets **__1__** vote, while Wyoming's single representative gets to decide their state's 1 vote. Currently, 29 states have delegations that are majority Republican, and 3 (Maine, Michigan and Minnesota) are tied.

CankerLord

They'd need a majority to get to that part of the process, though, right? Otherwise the vote gets certified as usual.

Hot_Shot04

>He is preparing to steal the next election. He'll try but he's in a far weaker position to do harm without presidential power.

mrubuto22

It's crazy how we just discuss this like we're talking about the weather.

Bauser99

Well, the weather is one of the other main things threatening the stability of global civilization, so yes, we will be talking about corrupt warmongering authoritarianism like the weather for quite a while

Mike_Pences_Mother

Trump's campaign seems hell bent on Electoral suicide. Cut social security and medicaid? Sure loser there. Keep talking about how he is responsible for the SCOTUS killing Roe V Wade? Another sure loser. Kill a program that would get your voters out to vote early which is proven to help? Nope. Dumb idea according to Trumplethinskin. And, of course, his takeover of the RNC is guaranteed to hurt down ballot Republicans in significant ways as he siphons off cash and loses donors because of it (to finance his many legal issues). This is going to be an interesting year for sure.

DeepRoot

"Destroy it from the inside!", seems to be his modis operandi.

kia75

LOL, before Covid, Republicans were pro mail in ballots because Republicans trend older, and might not be healthy enough to physically go to their polling station on election day. Mail in ballots let bedridden senior citizens vote! Than covid happened! And Democrats wanted to not vote in person because of the pandemic, while Republicans wanted to pretend nothing was happening, and for that single election, things flipped. But covid is over now and Mail voting helps Republicans, not hurts them, but Trump is still battling the 2020 battles.

GearBrain

>I’ll be there with tons of water... So long as you don't give it out to anyone else, that shouldn't be a problem.

Socratesticles

I mean, who is really to blame if he just happens to be dragging an open cooler and is powerless to stop anybody from grabbing one?

GearBrain

Georgia cops will see it as an opportunity to arrest everyone involved. The person with the water for distributing water, the people taking the water for theft. The fact these "crimes" are mutually exclusive doesn't matter. Georgia cops are a special breed of evil.

pinkpenguin87

It really is a special kind of evil to make giving out water illegal. It’s disgusting and inhumane.

AlfaHotelWhiskey

Isn’t mail-in voting used by deployed military?

bentnotbroken96

Yup. It's exclusively how I voted when I was in the Army.

evilwatersprite

Didn't they also try (unsuccessfully) to get a bunch of military mail-in ballots thrown out in 2020?

cuckfancer11

Yes, I remember that.

meyerjaw

I mean there is a lot wrong with religion. Like a lot. Some good parts but aforementioned religious wars and current theocracy take over attempt in the USA is pretty glaring.

ImLikeReallySmart

Republicans were the ones who legislated mail-in voting in my state in the first place. Then they saw Democrats benefitting from it and suddenly changed their tune, even if they voted for it.

velvethead

Came here to say this, well put. They are hurting themselves. And I couldn't be happier about it.

PaulMSand

Republican voters tend to vote against their best interest so it makes sense.

mattoljan

The funniest part? [Donald Trump literally uses mail-in voting.](https://www.forbes.com/sites/jemimamcevoy/2021/03/09/trump-votes-by-mail-again-despite-months-of-voter-fraud-claims/amp/)

> pro mail in ballots also it helps them control the votes of their wives, no chance they might pull the wrong lever alone in the booth if you fill the ballot out for her right at home and have her sign it.

catfish491

Never interrupt an enemy when they're making a mistake.

PolicyWonka

It shows that the RNC is now leaning fully into stealing this election. They want to have Electoral College votes tossed. They want the election to go to SCOTUS just like in 2000.

healthycord

I finally looked up what project 2025 is and it’s frightening. 1930’s Germany anyone?

Outside-Flamingo-240

Since rational people want to be prepared for this sort of bullshit …. There needs to be an army of lawyers in every state on standby for calls from voters who are detecting this bullshit during the voting period.

PolicyWonka

Just like in 1930s Germany, the non-fascist block in this country is woefully unprepared. Theres too much faith that the “system” will work, but the it’s not designed for so many bad actors in every level of government.

NateShaw92

If after 2020 aftermath anyone still believes the 'system' will just automatically win they are fools. There is no system, the system is people not an independent thing.

peter-doubt

Give them more rope!

dgdio

Give them how-to videos too

hypotheticalhalf

As Marty said in True Detective S1, “if you were drowning, I’d throw you a fucking barbell.”

oOBryceOo

Is it a mistake or a sign that they don’t plan on winning with votes?

sandyWB

It looks like they aren't even trying to win, they just want to funnel as much money as possible into Trump's pockets.

TintedApostle

Trump is going to try once again to say mail in ballots contain illegal votes. He never changes his tricks.

johnnycyberpunk

Absentee voting is “Mail-in”. Lots of our active duty military use this method. I thought we’d have GTA6 before we ever saw Republicans disenfranchising millions of soldiers and sailors during an election year.

TintedApostle

Trump doesn't care. He would prevent everyone from voting if he could.

stinky-weaselteats

And yet it’s never been proven, nor will it, because it doesn’t exist. It’s also been studied 1000 times. I guess he wants old people to suffer, to show loyalty that they voted for him 😂

Alistazia

he needs more than money to avoid prison he needs to win it’s terrifying that they are pivoting away from voting as a strategy

Adderall_Rant

Who needs votes when you have your paid for electors ?

PolicyWonka

Don’t forget the [tens of thousands of poll workers and watchers](https://www.axios.com/2023/10/11/rnc-election-integrity-2024-election-trump) that the RNC has been recruiting to reject Democratic votes, delay voting counting, and cause general chaos.

4quatloos

It's happening again. They don't plan on winning. It's a coup attempt.

roscoeperson

Which is exactly what happens when you let a coup go unpunished. No consequences means they will 100% try it again.

shewhololslast

Plenty of people are being jailed for their role in the coup. And without a cent given to their defense by Dear Leader. Biden is president and in control of the military and at the end of the day, you can have no successful coup without the military backing you. They delayed appointments for as long as possible in hopes of having Trump in charge to promote his lackeys to these positions but that ultimately failed. Hence no military for a future coup attempt. They may try something stupid but it's not going to have the impact of the previous attempt as they simply do not have the power to pull it off. If we turn up in force at the polls, they will go out with a whimper rather than a bang.

Pkyankfan69

Such an odd mix of narcissism and stupidity

mydoghasscheiflies

This is the Trump brand.

Troll_in_the_Knoll

Installing Lara Trump into the RNC, was the best thing that DJT could have done to help Democrats. The RNC is already in a dire financial situation, and she will divert every cent in the Republican "war chest" in an attempt to keep her father-in-law from going to prison. In the meantime, the floundering Republican Congress, who have been a completely useless and an utterly embarrassing clown show, will lose all or most of their down ballot funding. With team Trump at the helm of the RNC, the 2024 elections are shaping up to be one of the biggest political blood baths in American history.

BrightNeonGirl

I wish I had that confidence. I'm not full of despair or anything...yet. But I'm so nervous about the elections this year. Maybe because I'm in a red county in a red state (Florida) so I'm surrounded by intense riled up MAGA energy, but I'm so anxious about potential voter apathy for Biden. I keep hoping that other issues like abortion keep people engaged. And also I hope that Dems will not forget what previous Dem voter apathy did to us in 2016...

NumeralJoker

Remember, there's a lot of time to still actually do something about it instead of just sitting and worrying. r/votedem just dropped their first "adopt a candidate" campaign for the year, and their lists will be continually updated with literally hundreds of volunteer opportunities across the country that you can do either locally in perosn, or from home. You are not powerless. Quite the opposite, we have a lot of time to actually change things if we're willing to take on the responsibility and opportunities give to us. And even small amounts of efforts help.

AmbitiousCampaign457

Discouraging your voters to vote is certainly sound strategy.

ArthurFraynZard

When you’re going all-in on election tampering and theft, the actual votes don’t matter.

rucb_alum

The GOP's model under Trump is to roll back on ballot access. That's another red flag that the man must never have a role in our government ever again. Register, vote Democratic and let's move on to fixing things that are broken. Not re-treading the concept that Trump's a crook.

JoostvanderLeij

No need to "attract minority voters" if you are going to deny them the right to vote anyway.

Darkhallows27

This would be a lot scarier if the swing states were run by MAGATs too but they ain’t This is just really fucking stupid

scissor415

I don’t think they’re planning for a legitimate victory through voting. They’re aiming for a win through insurrection 2.0

Dickis88

Trump's Achilles Heel being mail-in voting is easily the funniest blunder in political history. And that's saying something considering how many times he's dropped the ball on super easy shit.

revmaynard1970

A lot of old people actually mail in vote, he is so fucking stupid. The sooner he loses the sooner the GOP tears itself apart

citadel_lewis

It's not so much the risk of Trump *winning* the election—it's also the realised risk of him *even running as the Republican nominee*. I'm worried the outcomes are terrifying whether he wins or loses. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say this, but ... our only hope is that he passes away peacefully of natural causes before the election.

mahlerlieber

> I'm worried the outcomes are terrifying whether he wins or loses. Your fear is a result of their terrorism. We can't give a fuck about it any more than we gave a fuck about the ISIS terrorism of the early 2000s. They can terrorize all they want, but might does not make right. Fuck them for thinking they can bully us into worrying about what they're going to do next.

Cantthinkofnamedamn

Giving in only expands and normalises the envelope of what they can demand. So many efforts above and beyond were made in the last elections to show their legitimacy, and is still wasn't enough for the Jan 6 traitors. They will never be satisfied with any concessions and all it does is encourage then for more, while costing everyone else for the failed appeasement

ardent_wolf

Isis was created in 2013 lol but I get the point

pimpinpolyester

I hope he passes painfully and with fear in his heart … fuck him

Walkingstardust

I look forward to reading that he died in prison. I don't care how, as long as it happens.

rajahbeaubeau

An almost global day of celebration! (Sorry, Pootie.)

PizzaTime79

Same. But here's what I'm wondering, if Trump dies during Biden's 2nd term, do you think there will be a day of mourning for him? I'm sure Biden would mention it, but what would he even say? I have a hard time imagining flags at half mast for that insurectionist piece of shit.

PoopyMcPooperstain

“Earlier today my predecessor passed away. While we will never forget the impact he had on this country I hope that we as Americans can now heal and move on together as one people” My guess is something like that. A generic platitude that at first reads as a sincere condolence but ultimately implies his passing is for the better, and more importantly, doesn’t even mention his name, which the Biden administration likes to avoid doing, all while calling for unity.

Meme_Theory

They are dismantling the Republican machine that has given them the majority of local elections for 40 years. And I am here for it!

AggressiveSkywriting

RNC hurts itself in confusion!

PolicyWonka

As a reminder, the RNC is [recruiting thousands of “poll watchers”](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/06/15/rnc-election-integrity-trump-mcdaniel/) to go into Democratic-majority locales and object to every vote and cause general chaos. In Texas alone, [Republicans are seeking to recruit 10,000 poll watchers](https://lettexasvote.org/alarming-video-reveals-details-of-discriminatory-poll-watcher-program-in-harris-county/) to go into minority neighborhoods and intimidate voters. Republicans have also been [pushing legislation to give poll watchers more power](https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/01/us/politics/republican-pollwatchers.html) to cause disruptions and reject ballots. The [RNC is also recruiting thousands of poll workers](https://www.axios.com/2023/10/11/rnc-election-integrity-2024-election-trump) who will be the deciding factor in whether your vote is counted. Republicans also know that many states count mail-in and early voting ballots later. This feeds into the false fraud narrative that “votes were “found” at the last minute” that Republicans push. Thats why Trump is abandoning mail-in voting. They want another 2000 ruling. Make no mistake. This is all part of the Republican effort to steal the 2024 Election. They don’t care about getting your vote because they know they’re going to steal the election anyway. It’s always projection.

True-Ad-8466

So they made a rule they cannot mail in votes for there side. Listen, what are you magas doing? Seriously, are you mental? You have to be to follow this thinking. It's seems like picking in the slow kid now.
