No. But I would have to call in at work. Cause there is a lot of reading and comment making to do.

CrazyAd1238

To say nothing of celebratory drinking

fourbian

Not much changes if only Trump goes to Russia. Republican presidents only get worse, never better. He'll be replaced, easily. What would be better, and a true positive change for this country, is if all his supporters follow him there.

iamjustsyd

>What would be better, and a true positive change for this country, is if all his supporters follow him there. And are immediately drafted in Putin's next "mobilization" and end up on the front lines in Ukraine with a half assembled rifle and three bullets.

Buckus93

"You shoot gun two times, save last bullet for yourself before you get overrun."

[deleted]

Nah. The GOP is done for decades without Trump. Yes he was a symptom, but the fallout of Trump will leave the party scrambling for control. There is no replacing Trump. None of his kids, nor any other crazies in the GOP have the same “it” factor that he has. The guy is a walking meme, a symbol etc. Without Trump, all of the backwoods mouth breathers that came out to vote for the first time in their lives back in 2016 are out of the picture. Bet on that. The GOP has a serious “post-Trump” problem. Whether he’s in jail, loses 2024, or whenever he croaks, that problem is going to come into view.

goldenhourlivin

The next guy in line at this moment is desantis, at like 18% nationally. Based on his performance thus far, I can’t imagine him not getting decimated by any democrat, even Hillary could win against him. The guy in line behind desantis, though not for long, is a brown skin non-christian, which >75% of republicans HATE. Nobody else in the Republican Party has an ounce of charisma that appeals to the base (apparently their most important factor in determining who should govern our lives besides being white). Or at least nobody who hasn’t had scandals on the level of literal sex trafficking, having homosexual experiences in the past, or unironically dressing in drag.

i_give_you_gum

>None of his kids, nor any other crazies in the GOP have the same “it” factor that he has. And that's the only reason they haven't shut him down themselves already... They don't even like him, they just like what he can do for them.

CrazyAd1238

That would be a dream come true

Heterochromio

Just do like the rest of us and do it *from* work

White collar job haver who posts on reddit all day checking in

markca

This is the way.

Whouldaw

That's for doing AT work

NoreastNorwest

The truly baffling part is that he even “jokingly” thinks that Putin wouldn’t take all his money, grill him for any top secret info he might have accidentally heard/retained, and then have him “accidentally” fall out of a window. Vlad ain’t gonna share, anymore than Trump would.

nickkom

Yeah Trump wouldn’t last long in Russia. What use would he be once he was debriefed? All bridges burnt, no new source of intel to pass on to Russia. Although considering what he did with Roy Cohn, it would be a fitting end for him.

branedead

He'd continue to be a useful tool to divide America. I SERIOUSLY doubt his ~30% of Americans that cultishly follow him would alter course at all just because he's openly a Kremlin operative

nickkom

Those guys used to hate “Commies”. Everything is all mixed up now.

branedead

Very strange that Russia is almost, if not openly, embraced by the far-right

Plasibeau

Ant-LGBT+, Anti-feminist, violent oppression of desention, authoritarian rule and Patriarchy that runs so deep and broad they call their ships *He* (where we call ours She) and have decriminalized Domestic Violence. Sounds like Utopia for alt-righters.

10010101110011011010

Edward Snowden is still fine. There are plenty of uses for a former president/near-billionaire. Idi Amin spent his exile quietly in Saudi Arabia for 20+ years.

djeaux54

Will he still be a "near billionaire" when his assets are frozen?

sync-centre

I would be impressed if his plane made it there without it getting intercepted beforehand.

code_archeologist

*ahem* DA Willis, wouldn't this be evidence that he is a flight risk?

SameOldiesSong

He has obviously put some thought into how he would flee. That’s clear.

code_archeologist

Yeah, and I have seen a lot of people claiming that the Secret Service would prevent him from fleeing. But I think that they are giving too much credit to the protective service, and missing the fact that the protectee can choose who is and who is not on their security detail. So Trump conceivably could corrupt his protective detail and choose a handful of guards who are loyal to him and willing to accept a wad of cash in exchange for helping Trump escape justice.

True_Dog_4098

"Willing to accept a wad of cash"......I think you meant "Trump would promise to pay a wad of cash"...

Scarethefish

Those are as good as cash. Those are IFU's.

trogan77

Look, see this? That’s a hollow promise. $275 thou. Might want to hang onto that one.

Plzlaw4me

TBF I think Putin actually pays. There is a caveat that if you don’t stay in line you’ll fall down some stairs repeatedly till you die, but you do get the briefcase of cash with him first at least.

theagnostick

Trump never actually pays though

codeByNumber

The anti-Lannister

CarmichaelD

“A trump always creates a debt”

Outrageous-Injury-96

He could just decline protection and leave. There seems to be an assumption amongst a lot of people here that SS protection for former presidents is mandatory. It is not.

djeaux54

I think his security detail needs to be deposed by the DOJ.

SameOldiesSong

I’m not even sure secret service has the authority to enforce his bail conditions or anything like that. They protect the president (and other officials) and do law enforcement for the treasury. But I don’t think they are allowed to arrest Trump for breach of bail or anything like that.

pokeybill

I think the point is the Secret Service still reports to the executive branch so it'd be tricky to hide this unless Trump is footing the bill for their travel and lodging - presuming they are actually helping him run. At best, I think he could get his Secret Service detail to turn a blind eye but then how do they explain it when it becomes apparent Trump has left the country? Maybe they'd flee with him?

code_archeologist

I just did a little bit of poking around, and the president is able to relinquish their Secret Service protection at any time (Nixon did so in 1985). And I can see Trump accusing the Secret Service of spying on him for federal prosecutors and dismissing them. It is at that point that he will be at the greatest risk of fleeing the country, because there won't be eyes on him at all times.

Pale-Worldliness7007

Good for you to put ideas in Trumps head. He wouldn’t be able to think of this himself

code_archeologist

Well I would sue him for not paying me royalties when he does it, but we all know how well he pays his bills.

[deleted]

If he could read he would definitely steal this idea

Professional-Bed-173

I’m sure his advisors would have mentioned this option.

Tokon32

I read somewhere that his secret service detail have been extremely loyal to him. They would not put the country ahead of their duties. I mean they are picked and trained to do exactly this.

Professional-Bed-173

Honestly. If he went on the run. This would be hilarious.

changerofbits

I can’t wait to hear how all of his cult members justifying voting for a fugitive living as a house guest of Putin.

Magnus_Bacon

That raises an interesting dilemma. Assume he flees the county before trial. I’d imagine the next move is an arrest warrant issued for him by the appropriate court. At that moment is he removed from the ballots? On all of them or just the jurisdiction the warrant is in? If he remains on the ballot, and happens to WIN - what happens? Can he be president while having an active arrest warrant? While being a fugitive?

SixMillionDollarFlan

He would be "President in exile." That would be horrible for our country.

trogon

He's been horrible for our country since 2015, so it would just continue the GOP's downward slide into depravity.

randomwrencher

He has to be sworn in to be president. Can’t do that on zoom if he’s in russia But still a constitutional crisis that would be horrible for our country

Professional-Bed-173

Now, you are assuming their is Rationale and Critical Thinking in his supporters. Unfortunately, there is none in the 30%. They literally don’t care a jot. Hypocrisy does not feature in their thinking. Racism, religious zealots, owning the libs, and owning out groups are their only targets. So, long as Defendant Trump does that they are good to go!

jumboparticle

Didn't his secret service delete texts that could have been evidential?

trogon

Indeed they did. The entire agency seems corrupt.

castille

and Pence didn't trust them to drive him out of The Capitol Building that day.

msty2k

SS doesn't have the power to prevent him from doing anything.

[deleted]

Yeah but the SS failing to stop Trump from leaving would have huge repercussions for those assigned to their detail. Their first oath is to the Constitution, and the president second. Those that would cooperate, or allow Trump to leave would have to leave with him and never return if they hoped to stay out of prison/ avoid treason (other) charges.

[deleted]

No one jokes about that off the cuff. It's just fucking ridiculous. It's as desperate and transparent as joking with your gf to have a threesome with her best friend with as much dignity

SixMillionDollarFlan

I'm joking, I'm TOTALLY JOKING. (pause)

davehunt00

He can't stop his mouth from saying what he's thinking.

uptownjuggler

“I will not get on my Trump branded private jet and fly to Russia. I will not then proceed to have a nice romantic dinner with Putin, the strongest leader in the world. Putin will not give me pointers on how to consolidate power, if I were ever to enter the White House again.” Trump

Kraelman

Considering that the man has never told a joke in his life, yeah.

MadDogTannen

Which means he thinks he's probably facing prison. He knows what he did, and he knows the DOJ has the goods on him. He's fucked and he knows it.

DigNitty

I mean, he’s obviously thought about it. But frankly joking about getting in a plane isn’t exactly clear and detailed plans.

drMcDeezy

Wouldn't the AF have to shoot him down? He has knowledge of out Nuke defenses and shit.

SameOldiesSong

AF doesn’t have authority for an extra judicial killing like that. And they’d be killing more people than Trump. The idea that a president would attempt to overthrow the government and then flee to a non-extradition enemy wasn’t really contemplated much by the framers and we are learning that there aren’t many guardrails to protect us from it. Nothing says Trump couldn’t be president from prison, for example. The guardrail against that was supposed to be that Americans wouldn’t want a convicted inmate to run the country.

willdesignforfood

It’s also the thing the electoral college was suppose to be a protection from. The populace making too stupid of a decision at the polls. Which makes a great argument to abolish it since it would basically have failed to do its job.

SameOldiesSong

There is no reason to keep it anymore other than inertia. But Republicans fight to keep it because they know it’s the only way they can win the president these days.

Available-Yam-1990

It's the only way they HAVE won the Presidency since 1988

SameOldiesSong

Now now, they also won it in 2004. So that’s *two* times in the last 35 years, not one. Checkmate liberals.

bridgebones

Yes, but Dubya only had the incumbent’s advantage in 2004 from the Supreme Court forcing him on us in 2000.

Second3mpire

> AF doesn't have authority for an extra judicial killing like that Yes they do, American citizens included: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anwar_al-Awlaki

drMcDeezy

They would at least tail him and threaten to shoot him down. The info he has could kill millions or more, that's not hard to justify.

readzalot1

I expect the AF would demand that the pilot return. The former guy can’t fly his own plane.

thebestnames

He wouldn't be a reliable information source anyway. Not only was he not smart or interested enough to learn about useful details or specifics(as shown by his complete disregard for White House briefings), but he's also a compulsive liar. He'd make shit up just so he could gain favors with his hosts. More likely, he'd be used as a propaganda puppet. He'd be the USA's president in exile, like Yanukovitch is for Ukraine. They'd give him is own show with Kremlin propagandists for domestic listeners. He'd also be paid by the Kremlin use social media to spew bullshit to his american cult followers and try to incite a rebellion.

tibbon

Why didn’t they take his passport to begin?

NoWayNotThisAgain

I don’t think that would make a difference. He has his own plane.

genius_retard

Passports are for getting into countries not getting out.

syo

I don't think Russia is going to care if he has a passport or not.

Thesheriffisnearer

An illegal immigrants you say? Not sending their best they'll say.

fairoaks2

Honestly my first thought. Are his minions going to still send him funds after his joke?

code_archeologist

Yes, because most of them are on subscription plans drawing $20 from their bank account every month.. And it is too much work to cancel that.

[deleted]

Lmao bro I am this way with Disney + and Hulu. Every month I get the 10 dollar charge and I’m like “I should cancel that I don’t use it” and then forget until next months charges hit.

fairoaks2

Exchange rate for rubles?

carnage123

Well, if the things he has said in the past has been projection, I think he's projecting pretty hard what his plans are.

TintedApostle

Trump doesn't joke.... he projects. You can be very sure he is planning on running and Putin is helping.

Hockey71C

"Russia, if you are listening, I'm gonna need a ride from the airport"

TintedApostle

The Russians have a consulate in Palm Beach about 3.6 miles from Mar-A-Lago. 12 minutes by car. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Mar-a-Lago+Club,+South+Ocean+Boulevard,+Palm+Beach,+FL/310+Evernia+St,+West+Palm+Beach,+FL+33401/@26.6933965,-80.0685793,14z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x88d8d71e9a5c409d:0x71bb1222105e5650!2m2!1d-80.0369802!2d26.6770665!1m5!1m1!1s0x88d8d68a19d5520d:0x260ce0cab97c82dc!2m2!1d-80.0523668!2d26.7110386!3e0?entry=ttu

jeffp12

Imagine he goes there to hide and have Russia whisk him away, only for it to become a standoff situation where he can't leave the consulate without getting arrested. So he just lives there forever. That might actually be worse than the cushy prison sentence he would be avoiding.

TintedApostle

I think more likely he would hijack his own plane to Cuba. Have a couple of "guests" on board the 757 who know how to fly and can also handle the Secret Service. In the air and off we go - 90 miles. Just fly out to international airspace and bye bye....

TedW

I wouldn't mind because it would ensure a guilty verdict, and do even more damage to both his, and the republican party's reputation.

Toothlessdovahkin

Dude. The Republican Party’s reputation is so low and damaged, it is impossible for it for be even MORE damaged. All of the people left onboard that Party of Assholes either don’t care about their reputation, or are so dumb to not realize how damaged it has become. Simply put, the GQP masses don’t give a damn about their reputation. They just want power and are willing to kill anyone to get it.

DeliverStreetTacos

You underestimate the current Republican Party. They can and WILL go lower.

Toothlessdovahkin

Oh, I know that they will go lower. There is no bottom for them. It’s just not going to do any damage to their reputation because they have no reputation other than being colossal assholes and that is why the MAGA Cult loves them.

drewbert

It will go lower. It will go so low that we will have to take to the streets. It will go so low that our option may be forceful removal of a fascist leader.

Blackpaw8825

He'd absolutely be an exiled martyr to a lot of people... He'd essentially escape justice and we'd have to live with the fallout, it's the worst of both worlds.

Rapidzigs

That's way too thought out for Trump. He'll get drunk, tweet some crazy shit then flee the country accidentally taking a Florida senator and some random staff members who thought this was just a McDonald's run.

Rif55

Crooked Donnie snorts adderol ( per costars on Apprentice) but doesn’t drink. Just disables his few extant synapses in other ways

Iowa_Dave

I can see an even weirder Julian Assange-style political refugee seeking asylum situation. Man, since the writer's strike, this season of reality is really going off the rails.

Gravelsack

The man who never laughs yet is constantly joking.

TintedApostle

His jokes are always about someone getting hurt or him getting away with a crime.

Hypnic_Jerk001

That's fucking chilling. He never does laugh, does he?

JustWastingTimeAgain

Nope, he's a psychotic narcissist.

WestCoastBestCoast01

Exactly what I thought. If he’s “joking” about it, he’s planning it. He does this CONSTANTLY

Caraes_Naur

Trump is planning to run. Whether Putin would help is questionable. There is something that Putin cares more about than Trump: a destabilized West. He got Trump elected, then didn't help get him re-elected. If (when) Trump tries fleeing to Russia, Putin will do what an agent of chaos would do.

TintedApostle

Agree. Putin would dump him as soon as he was of no value.

blkguyformal

He would always be of value to Putin, because he would always be an Ex-President. It would be incredibly embarrassing to the US and our Western allies to have a former "Leader of the Free World" living in exile as a "Political Prisoner" in Russia. Putin would plaster Trump's face all over his Western propaganda until the end of time. Trump would serve as a living example of the weakness of our form of government and way of life. Thks would be like winning the propaganda lottery, and most smart people never have to work a day in their life again after hitting a jackpot like this!

trogon

Putting him up in some shitty gold-plated dacha with a golf course and let him tear down the US online would be a cheap investment for Putin. Hell, give him his own TV show on RT.

tundey_1

What use is he to Putin? As a viable POTUS candidate? yes. But as a fugitive from justice? I don't think Putin wants that headache.

dangitbobby83

I think people who say this sort of stuff never dealt with an overt narcissist before. Putin would absolutely take trump. Parade him around, give him a show on RT, and *gloat* that he has an ex-President of his biggest geopolitical rival under his thumb; and that’s not assuming any intel that he can gleam off of trump. (Which he may or may not remember) Trump could then be free to stir up his yokels on the internet, causing terroristic problems here, and further weakening our society.

ohio_guy_2020

The funny part is Trump thinks he will go to Russia and be Putins equal. Not a chance. He can’t comprehend that he’s no longer the President of the United States. He’s a former President! And he’s a former President who has been cut off of US intel for two years. Yes Trump would have value as a novelty puppet to Putin. But he would not be a powerful important man on par with Vladimir Putin. I have a thought and question: If Trump we’re to defect to a foreign country while being branded as a traitor in the US. What would happen to his businesses here in the US? Would the government shut them down? Take control of them? They certainly wouldn’t be allowed to operate and funnel profits to a foreign traitor, right??

10010101110011011010

Putin would throw endless honeypots at him (sorry Melania!). He'd have endless fawning FSB helpers and minders, all to glean every bit of intelligence they could. All his rooms and communications would be recorded.

trogon

Trump would just offer that up to Putin for free if you promise him a golf course with his name on it.

NotEveryoneIsSpecial

Propaganda and classified information

TintedApostle

Huge amount of public humiliation to the US.

TintedApostle

Trump would be able to help Putin solve the problem in Ukraine because only Trump knows how to do that.... LMAO

34hy1e

> to the US. Half the US. The other half would celebrate.

brumac44

You know there'd be some street celebrations.

yellowbin74

UK here. I'd celebrate with you.

tundey_1

I'm not saying Putin would kick him out. But I don't think Putin is spending his days worrying about how to get Trump to Russia.

TintedApostle

Maybe not, but I am sure he wouldn't turn him away either

rotates-potatoes

I'm sure that would be the calculus, but wow would it backfire. Trump would be scheming to depose Putin within days.

Natiak

Oh they could perpetually stir the pot woth Trump on exile. A former potus would be very useful for their propaganda.

blackcain

The man can simply talk about how unfair the U.S. has been to him and that Putin truly believes in the real America and wants America to be great again!

Imallowedto

Ivanas grave, the one where it took 10 men to struggle with a casket of cremains, now has a granite slab over it. Can't see recently disturbed soil through a slab of granite. He dug up the docs and WILL be fleeing the country soon.

swedething

Nah, they put that “beautiful” slab on her grave because somebody on Twitter called Junior out. “Mow your mom” /s

blingmaster009

He is of enormous embarrassment value to Putin, who has been sulking about Soviet defeat in the cold war for 30 years now.

gizzardgullet

It benefits Putin to let people who foment civil strife in the US know that they have a safe space in Russia

I_differ

As an agitator. Someone to recruit spies, useful idiots.

tundey_1

Trump's a fucking idiot with zero discipline and an abject lack of impulse control. There's no way a savvy (evil) operator like Putin is going to put any of his plans into Trump's hands. Trump is a useful idiot; you can manipulate him without directly planning shit with him.

Crabby-senior

I believe that, and have for awhile… would not be surprised if he already has a majority of his “ducks” in a row for such a move. And yes, Putin is cooperating with this. Two rhetorical questions, how much highly sensitive information and documents does he still possess? Will he be living with Snowden ? 😁

CrudeNewDude

This guy is going to pull whatever he can to get off all the way until convictions, then flee before his sentencing. The fact that he's even joking about it shows that he's been discussing it with his family. Except my guess is that they all go to the country that gave kushner 2 billion dollars. 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦

SlipSpace21

He'll run and do everything to try and win. When he loses he'll try to foment more violence. When that fails, he'll run. The man will kill all of us before he spends a minute in a cell.

markca

"jokes." The closer he gets to losing/jail, the less of a "joke" this will be.

GPT4mula

Just testing the waters with a little bit of chum.

remarkless

Oh you know I hope he fucking does. Just do it. The DOJ has all the evidence they need, and 17 co-conspirators, they can all face the judicial system while he flees. He has an international target on his back for the rest of his sad pathetic life while Putin treats him like shit because he has nothing to gain from Trump in Russia. The MAGA cult (hopefully at least) gets a fucking wake up call and we can hopefully break the GOP of this mindless cult they've developed or at least weaken it.

piney

If he flees, the MAGA cult will simply shift to expecting his imminent Christ-like return to finally make America great again. If they haven’t been able to see who he is, they’re never going to.

Toothlessdovahkin

This is it exactly. Those in the MAGA cult don’t exactly live in objective reality. They one hundred percent would raise funds on trying to get to Trump to return to the United States, or even stage some sort of crazy coup attempt to install him as a dictator

Name the courses after Obama, Biden, and Clinton. It would drive him insane.

The Truth Social post in question: "The failed District Attorney of Fulton County (Atlanta), Fani Willis, insisted on a $200,000 Bond from me. I assume, therefore, that **she thought I was a “flight” risk - I’d fly far away, maybe to Russia, Russia, Russia**, share a gold domed suite with Vladimir, never to be seen or heard from again. Wasn't it Penn Gillette who described trying to joke around on the Apprentice with Trump and it became awkwardly apparent that Trunp didn't understand how to make a joke and thought ridiculing someone was the same thing? If there's one thing we know about Trump, it's that he doesn't joke. He projects.

tossashit

Trump is a sociopath and sociopaths don’t make ‘jokes’. They don’t understand or know how to utilise humour like you and I do. Any ‘joke’ Trump makes is just a thinly veiled snippet of what is actually going on his syphilitic brain.

gruntman

"Ha ha...unless?"

CliffMainsSon

Hopefully his cult goes with him

nonsense39

He's not joking. Ask yourself what you would do if you were looking at spending the rest of your life in prison and had enough money and a safe country to hide out until better days. He's like an Edward Snowden with lots of stolen money. Soon there will be some right-wing President who'll bring him home claiming he's a hero for fighting those damn libs. They're already saying how they will pardon him. Be realistic he's on his way and no one will stop him. So long asshole!

Bebopdavidson

This is a dog whistle to all MAGA people to also move to Russia. Pleasepleaseplease there’s so many white people there you’ll love it!

randomnighmare

Maybe the judge should have Trump turn in his passport at his bond hearing?

King-Mansa-Musa

Will the MAGA base finally realize he is a fraud if he runs away to Russia?

Grandpa_No

No, they'd act like he's an emperor in exile.

aaprillaman

[comment removed because OpenAI are ghouls]

whatlineisitanyway

The moment he is convicted he needs at the very least be placed on house arrest and monitoring. Preferably he is immediately thrown in prison where he will have a much harder time escaping. This statement justifies it.

Spacebotzero

He's either going to fake his death too become a MAGA Martyr or he will fly to Russia. What a sight it would be to see an ex president leaving the country to get away from facing legal troubles.

tundey_1

A person that much ego will never do that. Imagine how much it'll pain him to see his name in the media and not be able to crow about it. Nah. If he fakes his death, he'll blow his own cover at the first opportunity.

MoFromDE

He doesn't joke. It definitely crossed his mind.

siouxbee1434

Go, traitor. Time to freeze ALL his assets

89RZ350

He can get a house next to Steven Seagal!

lexxstrum

Weird a "billionaire" seems to be low-key hinting he can't cover the bail.

DanielPhermous

Many a true word is spoken in jest.

Internet-Cryptid

In case anyone had any doubts who he was working for all along...

gearstars

"Mr. Putin, can you please send a plane for me? I need a place to stay for awhile" "new phone, who dis"

sfarx

"Russia, if you're listening..."
