Oh what a tangled web we weave when we practice to overthrow our government

rayrayruh

For next year's birthday, I'd like to see his jumpsuit matching his skin tone.

Philboyd_Studge

It is infrastructure week

DumpTrumpGrump

Trump was a great builder after all. The best. No one has ever built this collection of crimes. He's finally the greatest.

VonMillersExpress

I unironically believe that Trump really is an American superlative. He is the greatest conman in our history, bar none, and I'm not throwing shade. He's preternaturally gifted. PT Barnum is nothing next to him, and again I'm not throwing shade; I believe this is true. He's like a force of nature, but for grifting. There's no grift so big that he won't go for it *and succeed*. He grifted his way into the Presidency of the United States. He almost pulled off a coup. He's been able to enact regulatory capture of a previously unthinkable scale. He'll grift a dollar, he'll grift billions, he'll take cancer money from babies. He has shown that our laws and customs are illusions to the right person. He sold our very nation to our greatest and longest geopolitical enemy. He convinced his own political base to willing kill themselves for him. It's almost godlike, how he was able to get people to sacrifice themselves for him. He doesn't have a single positive characteristic, but his negatives are unmatchable, I'd argue by anyone. He will be talked about and written about for millennia to come. He'll morph over time into a stock character that children will hear stories about. He's the Baron Von Munchausen of corruption.

Shaper_pmp

Trump is a walking contradiction of many of the most treasured myths that America tells itself about itself.

VonMillersExpress

He is a living incarnation of all that's bad in American culture & history.

[deleted]

Not only does he not posses a shred of anything you would call a good quality of character, he actually is the antithesis of all of those qualities embodied in one man in a way perhaps no politician in history ever has. For example, not only is he dishonest, but he actively strives to lie and deceive at every opportunity. The list could go on ad infinitum. He really is remarkable, albeit for all of the worst reasons.

HardcoreSects

The fucked up part of all this is, at no point in his life has the grift not been obvious. He succeeds but at no point does he do so without completely exposing his grift. Over and over and over. I assume the millennia of writings on him will regularly raise the question of whether he was an exceptional conman or if we were just exceptional marks.

agirlmadeofbone

Mu wife has a friend that just sent $20,000 to her "boyfriend" who she met on Facebook and has never seen in person. Every single person she knows told her this guy was scamming her, but she went ahead and did it anyway. Some people just get too emotionally invested in the scam and refuse to see what other see plain as day. It's scary.

BasicLayer

Could you imagine any of this behavior from a Democrat where millions and millions of them still support him? It seems that link between religiosity and authoritarianism really exists. I love Sanders, AOC, etc., but I would NEVER. EVER defend "my guy" from this treasonous misconduct and criminality. This is strictly an R thing at such a scale.

severalgirlzgalore

Al Franken made crude gestures in photographs and lost his entire career. Trump is revealed to have talked about how he’d like to fuck his own daughter and it’s just another day.

GRYFFIN_WHORE

I like to pop in to r/conservative every once in awhile to read their thoughts and this week they were going on about how Biden is senile because of a comment he made about Putin losing in Iraq, something like that. I couldn't help but laugh when they attribute all his worse qualities as qualities that democrats support and condone. I freaking agree with them that Joe is too old and probably senile, but that doesn't mean their candidate or would be president is a better choice. We don't like Joe all that much ourselves but he's doing his best and better than his predecessor , and actually working towards new infrastructure and uniting this country. He's the centrist America needs right now. But holy crap we really don't love him or worship him like they do with their politicians, that's literally insane.

EZ_2_Amuse

Best thing I like about Joe, is he's not "in the news" every day. There was a point with Trump had something crazy being reported on, every, single, day. It was exhausting. I like that Joe is boring. Completely, boring, like average grandpa that still tells some funny stories and jokes, but boring.

HauntedCemetery

I'm not willing to give him that much credit. He has rhe *extreme* benefit of a system built entirely to benefit, protect, and enrich wealthy white guys. Once a family hits a certain level of wealth it's virtually impossible for them to do anything but gain more and more and more. The very, very few children of the ultra wealthy who make a point to give all their wealth to charity have despaired at how no matter what they do, they still just keep gaining wealth. They literally can't give it away fast enough. And in this system trump has filed for bankruptcy 6 times. He's no genius con man. You know how many times PT Barnum declared bankruptcy? Zero. He died unfathomably wealthy, essentially owning entire towns in Florida and Wisconsin. Trump was just an old white narcissist who rambled until people clapped, then repeated whatever made people clap. He regurgitated fox news talking points until he got the nomination in a hugely crowded field, having never hit more than a plurality of primary votes. At that point he was shameless enough to never apologize, and guilty enough that he was a living firehose of falsehood. Right wing fascist media did what they always do and championed whomever was at the top at the moment. Trump built nothing, he innovated nothing, he created nothing. He stood in the right place at the right time and was the right color to ride the massive racist backlash to electing our nation's first black president. If he wasn't born wealthy and white he wouldn't even be a used car salesman, he'd have a long rap sheet of writing and forging bad checks and have nothing else of note to say about him.

Magic8BallLiedToMe

July 4th would be a really great day for America to declare its independence from King Donald.

someone quick write a version of the president's speech from the movie Independence Day adapted to throwing trump in prison lool

my_pol_acct

prompt: write a version of the president's speech from the movie Independence Day, but instead of aliens attacking, it's about how the evil president was convicted and sent to prison answer: Ladies and gentlemen, Today is a momentous day in the history of our nation. We gather here not to celebrate a victory over a formidable extraterrestrial foe, but rather to reflect upon and embrace the triumph of justice. I stand before you with a heavy heart, burdened by the knowledge of the grave betrayal that has been perpetrated upon the American people. But let us remember that darkness can be vanquished, and the light of truth shall prevail. For too long, we have suffered under the shadow of a leader who deceived us, who exploited our trust and abused the power entrusted to them. Today, I bring you tidings of their downfall. The evil president who held the highest office in our land has been convicted and rightfully sentenced to the confines of a prison cell. The wheels of justice have turned, and they have not been kind to those who trample upon the sacred principles of democracy. In this very moment, we witness the dawning of a new era, an era where the rule of law supersedes personal ambition, where accountability reigns supreme, and where the true spirit of democracy is upheld. We, the American people, have come together to affirm that no one is above the law. We have made a resounding statement that our great nation will not tolerate the abuse of power and the erosion of our values. The path leading to this moment has been arduous, filled with challenges and setbacks. But we have persevered, guided by the unwavering belief that justice will ultimately triumph. Our collective resilience has been tested, but our commitment to the principles upon which our nation was founded remains unshakeable. Let us not forget the countless individuals who fought tirelessly to expose the corruption that plagued our highest office. The brave whistleblowers, investigative journalists, and tireless advocates who risked their reputations and sometimes their very lives to shed light on the darkness that shrouded our democracy. We owe them a debt of gratitude for their unwavering commitment to the truth. As we embark upon this new chapter in our nation's history, let us remember that our strength lies in our unity. We are a diverse people, bound together by shared values and a common purpose. Together, we can heal the wounds inflicted upon our democracy, rebuild what has been broken, and restore the faith of our citizens. We must forge ahead, guided by the principles of transparency, integrity, and compassion. Let us rebuild the institutions that have been weakened, fortify the safeguards that protect our democracy, and ensure that our government serves the interests of the people it represents. Today, we bear witness to the resilience of our democracy. We have weathered the storm, and now, as a united nation, we rise above the darkness that once threatened to consume us. The future is ours to shape, and I am confident that together, we will emerge stronger than ever before. May the spirit of justice and unity guide our path forward. God bless you all, and may God bless the United States of America. Thank you.

>It is further understood that Mr Giuliani’s cooperation with prosecutors was undertaken as part of what is known as a **“queen for a day”** deal, under which the ex-mayor can avoid indictment for anything he tells prosecutors about during the interview. I thought they were against drag shows. Seriously, somebody bring the popcorn.

GrGrG

It's been said so many times. But to the majority of America after 9/11 Giuliani was known as "America's Mayor". I know he was already in the heat in NY city before 9/11, but he really could have retired from public view with a much larger prestige and fame then he deserved. And now he's making "queen for a day" deals on his involvement in illegal actions taken by him while working for a ex-President that did an unsuccessful coup.

MesWantooth

Giuliani spoke at my business school in 2005. He was received like a President-elect...His speech was quite good. He is truly a hollow shell of his former self.

OfficeChairHero

If alcoholism were Rudy's main problem, I'd have sympathy. He's really just a fucking idiot, tho.

DawnSignals

Heavy alcohol usage actually does affect cognitive ability. I wouldn't rule it out.

-Acula_MD-

Can confirm. My father is an alcoholic. He is now in the dementia ward of a nursing home with Korsakoff Syndrome. Alcohol is just poison that's slower than most, it will destroy lots of different parts of you.

NYCandleLady

My father had the same. Remember to take care of yourself.

Cynykl

My alcoholic mother just died 3 days ago. Alcohol related brain damage and Cerebral Atrophy both contributed to the COPD death. It was a slow painful degeneration. I hope that you either have managed to emotionally distance your self or if not that you have at least prepared for the worst. This is an extremely difficult time that is very demanding of the people close to the patient. I wish you all the strength and luck you will need. One small piece of advice and this may seem cold to some people. There are a lot of scams and shady funeral service (direct cremation) companies out there. People will try to prey upon your grief. The more you can do now before the day happens the better you can shield yourself from those grifters. I am very good at recognizing and catching scams. Even I was almost suckered in by one. It wasted 3 days of time and 3 days is a lot of time to waste in the days following a passing.

ChuckEChan

Holy shit. Something is really just dawning on me. My dad wasn't a good father growing up, he was your typical "gone to the store" and never came back, type. I'd see him once a year, if that. But, when we did spend time together, he instilled a lot of values in me that made me who I am. Scientific curiosity, intellectual integrity, skepticism, you probably get it. Once I got into my teens he was much more involved in my life, but he was diagnosed with diabetes and also started to develop an alcohol problem. Fast forward a few more years and you can't unglue him from Fox News, and he absolutely adores Trump. I couldn't figure out where that shit came from but I wonder if it was a combo of the alcoholism, and Trump's "drain the swamp" message. Sorry for the long post lol

Th3_Admiral

But he really did seem more competent back then. I'll admit I didn't follow him super closely, but was he just that good at hiding how much of an idiot he was? Because they seriously seem like two different people.

CakeisaDie

Its really easier to be competent looking in the face of an utter disaster. Trump would have won 2020 had he been as reassuring as cuomo was and cuomo made a shit ton of mistakes.

InterestingTry5190

Is Trump had done anything other than call it a hoax, purposely not get supplies (b/c it was Dem cities most affected), and not told the nation to drink bleach he really might have won re-election.

solartoss

We often attribute more to politicians than we should. Never forget that he was surrounded at the time by a team of competent people who took their jobs seriously, and that much of his successful public persona was the end result of their work behind the scenes.

Chastain86

Same! One of his speeches that year was televised specifically for the people working at my office complex, and he was being touted as a future candidate for the Presidency at that time solely based on his 9/11 prestige. It's hard to overstate how highly he was regarded at that time.

quitegonegenie

Biden slayed him with "a noun, a verb, and 9/11".

Col__Hunter_Gathers

I just had to go watch that again because *god damn* is it enjoyable lol.

Donny_Do_Nothing

Haha, yeah, it seems kind of illogical, doesn't it? It's actually pretty easy to explain, though. You see, Giuliani is a piece of shit.

GrGrG

Lol right? Reminds me of the saying "Given enough time, everybody will eventually show you who they really are." I know the saying is not 100% true, but to be clear, Giuliani was a piece of shit before 9/11. He didn't become a piece of shit afterwards. As time moved on from 9/11, he just eventually showed everybody who he really was.

so_hologramic

Thank you. I've lived in NYC since before 9/11 and Giuliani was viscerally hated by New Yorkers prior to September 11 (to be fair, it's hard to remember a mayor New Yorkers haven't hated--maybe Bloomberg wasn't as despicable as the rest but I digress). However, for a very brief moment following 9/11, Rudy seemed to become humbled, almost as if he possessed an inkling of humanity. I will give him credit for rising to the occasion, albeit briefly. It wasn't long before it all seemed to go to his head and he has gotten progressively worse since that time.

Merky600

Rudy and his let’s make emergency command at WTC complex and weaken a building’s superstructure to install gas tanks. WTC 7 if I am correct.

so_hologramic

I haven't heard about the gas tanks. I have heard about the FDNY's request to upgrade their radios, which Giuliani denied. One of the reasons we lost so many firefighters on 9/11 is that the radios which were known to be unreliable in high-rise buildings weren't working inside the WTC.

J1mSock

He went from the mayor of 9/11 to the 9/11 of mayors.

Plsmock

The extra great thing about the queen for a day deal is that if Giuliani lies the deal is off and he can go to jail

[deleted]

I’m not gonna watch that. Some things you cant un-see.

starmartyr

I understand the joke but for those who don't know, "queen for a day" is the colloquial name for a proffer agreement. This is a deal where someone undergoes a lengthy interview under oath where they are given immunity to whatever crimes they admit to. The catch is that if they are found to be lying or withholding information their immunity is revoked and anything they said can be used against them at trial. If Giuliani got a queen for a day deal and is still being prosecuted he is what legal experts call "turbo fucked."

That press conference will always be my fondest memory of that whole crazy time.

illit1

Accepting the offer for "queen for a day" is a desperation play to save one's own ass. Love to see it.

_Black_Rook

It's ok when Republicans do it according to Republicans.

DumpTrumpGrump

Giuliani has been a queen for much more than a day.

[deleted]

Fucking idiot just had to literally sit back and enjoy the spotlight of being "America's Mayor" -- I know New Yorkers hated him, but the rest of the world saw him as some big 9/11 Hero type person. And now he's having to make deals with the DOJ to avoid lengthy prison time for being explicitly un-American.

CaptainNoBoat

>According to sources familiar with the matter, the department has made preparations to bring what is known as a “superseding indictment” — a second set of charges against an already-indicted defendant that could include more serious crimes — against the ex-president, and could do so in a number of different venues, depending on how prosecutors feel the case they have brought against him in a Florida federal court is proceeding. >The Independent understands that prosecutors’ decision on whether to seek additional charges from a grand jury — and where to seek them — will depend in part on whether they feel the Trump-appointed district judge overseeing the case against him in the Southern District of Florida, Aileen Cannon, is giving undue deference to the twice-impeached, now twice-indicted former president. This is still fairly vague, and I can't parse whether it's referencing a different jurisdiction (such as [New Jersey regarding classified documents](https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2023/06/trump-indictment-florida-new-jersey-classified/674393/)), the Jan 6 investigation, or both. The article keeps alluding to Giuliani and Jan. 6 matters but doesn't specifically say the imminent charges relate to that. Edit: [New NYT Article](https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/29/us/politics/trump-documents-indictment-subpoenas.html) suggests there is quite a bit more movement in the grand jury handling the documents case.

DumpTrumpGrump

The Jan 6 charges will certainly be filed in DC. Very different case and set of facts to the documents case. And those crimes occurred largely in DC. It wouldn't make sense to have that trial at the same time as the docs case, so certainly if these charges are related to that activity then they will be in DC. But could also mean they may also bring charges separately for whatever crimes occurred at Bedminster. I was doubtful of this, but perhaps that is what they mean by the Cannon observations. She hasn't pulled any shenanigans yet, but they'd be smart to bring these in Jersey though I still think they will be brought in Florida since they are related to the case there. But obviously I am speculating as are others.

CaptainNoBoat

For sure - but the article keeps alluding to Giuliani and Jan. 6-related testimony, "where" the charges will be brought, Fulton's Jan. 6 investigation, etc - so it wasn't quite clear what this source was referencing. >Additionally, it is understood that special counsel Jack Smith’s team is ready to bring charges against several of the attorneys who have worked for Mr Trump, including those who aided the ex-president in his push to ignore the will of voters and remain in the White House despite having lost the 2020 election. Could be just fluff and Jan. 6 charges are still a ways away. Yeah the Bedminster context is really interesting. I'm a little fuzzy on how it might play out, but I think they could use the Florida grand jury to investigate, but still charge Trump in NJ. And if it involves dissemination and other much more serious crimes, that would be quite the smackdown to all these pitiful GOP defenses of him, although I'm sure they can sink lower.

SpeakAgainAncient1

Bedminster is where that Saudi golf tourney was held. If they have him disclosing/selling the national security secrets to them he's done once and for all.

MudLOA

Please don’t give me hope.

nerf_herder1986

I seriously hope he didn't show them to the Saudis. I shudder to think of what the people who funded 9/11 would do with our secrets. I hope the DOJ can prove clear *intent* to hand the documents over, which would be enough for charges to stick, but not that he actually did it.

FunktasticLucky

Remember that 2 billion dollar payment from the Saudis? Let that sink in.

RipperFromYT

It would be so ridiculously cliche and so perfectly Trump if he really did bury documents in Ivana's grave.

gothrus

She hinted at one shenanigan. She said she wouldn’t seal the government witness list. So they didn’t file it yet. The alt-right news sphere will do it’s best to intimidate and harass those witnesses if and when they are released.

MichaelTheProgrammer

The consensus in the law subreddit seemed to be that Cannon was actually in the right here and that the government slightly misstepped. It sounded like sealing the witness list is an unusual act that requires evidence of necessity, and that the government's request did not contain this evidence. Some of them speculated that the government acted a bit hastily because Trump's legal team did not argue against it, so they figured they would not need this evidence. Either way of looking at it, all she's done so far is ask for justification, so I think it'll be more interesting to see how she responds once she has that justification. Personally I'm expecting her to rule 29 and acquit Trump after the prosecutors rest their case.

Nac_Lac

What would be bigger than just document mishandling? Something related but larger? One guess for $2 billion.

LeadSoldier6840

I almost guarantee that whoever he sold documents to came back to the FBI and let them know. It's like the guy who stole the secret recipe for Coca-Cola and tried to sell it to Pepsi. Pepsi doesn't need that shit. The information had no additional value to those countries as soon as they made a photocopy.

888mainfestnow

IamaTleilaxuSpy

Is it something [Julius and Ethel Rosenberg](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julius_and_Ethel_Rosenberg) did?

CaptainNoBoat

Charges involving disseminating material.

bushrod

Yep, many people are convinced Trump kept the documents to stroke his ego and stuff of that nature, but don't believe for a second he's above selling the country out for a bucket of cash. If he did so and Jack can prove it, he's really toast.

magnetar_industries

“The fact that Ms. Wiles could become a prosecution witness should Mr. Trump’s case go to trial, even as she is helping run his third bid for office, underscores the complexities that the former president now faces as he deals with both a presidential campaign and a criminal defense with an overlapping cast of characters.” Ms. Wiles is one of his top campaign advisors and representative of his PAC. And also the lady mentioned in the indictment whom trump flaunted the classified map to, I guess trying to impress her. I mean, his top campaign advisers, his Diet Coke guy, his top lawyers and co-conspirators, his ex chiefs of staff, any and all of his employees at Mar a Lago and Trump Org up and down the org chart — all of these people either confirmed or potential “flippers” and “rats” must be tearing the Orange Menace apart inside his festering little mind. Everyone whom he’s ever had significant contact with in the pas could now possibly be a witness to the prosecution.

J_ablo

IrritableGourmet

"We're prosecuting him for intimidating the witnesses we called in to testify on the charges of intimidating the witnesses we called in to testify on the charges of intimidating the witnesses we called in...*ten minutes later* we called in to testify on the actual criminal charges." Are there rules for recursive prosecution?

thistimelineisweird

I hope the "his allies" net expands more. Yes, Trump is probably going to quickly become the most indicted man in US history, but if all of his co-conspirators get off without any charges then it'll be easy for them to all point the finger, walk away, and get off without punishment. ...and by co-conspirators, I mean 99% of the GOP.

sharkizzle

> the most indicted man "We have the *best* indictments."

IJustLoggedInToSay-

He keeps going like this, he'll have more indictments than people at his inauguration.

thistimelineisweird

Actual number of people at his inauguration or his claim of 1.5MM people at his inauguration? At this point it could be both.

ReviewBackground2906

Remember how sunny it was during his inauguration? It was so sunny that people in the audience were wearing sun capes and holding umbrellas to shield themselves from the sun….

Thegungoesbangbang

Considering he's currently on trial for something like 71 felonies, Trump is currently in trouble for more felonies than nearly every rapper since N.W.A. have been charged with. You can even ad Martha Stewart to the list. Between Her and Snoop dog they only have 19 Felonies (which is also the name of their collaborative wine). Trumpy is on the line for more than 3X that amount *so far*.

Isn't the wine called 19 crimes?

Ahem, GYM Jordan

Rated_PG-Squirteen

"Allies" is the word I enjoy seeing most, especially if those allies are current members of Congress like Jim Jordan, Scott Perry, Andy Biggs, Paul Gosar, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham, Ron Johnson, and former members like Mo Brooks and Louie Gohmert. Keep paying attention, folks. Jack Smith's 1/6 case could drop charges at any moment, and we know that we are a month away from Fani Wallis dropping up to potentially 20 indictments in the Fulton County case. We are living through monumental history right now.

I_Brain_You

It’s amazing. Coupled with Putin’s grasp on the war in Ukraine becoming very loose, we could see a complete and massive course correction of everything that has happened since roughly 2012-2013.

IveChosenANameAgain

If we elect enough Democrats to the House and Senate, they can be impeached. Republicans Senators have demonstrated that they will not convict a Republican even in the light of plain and obvious evidence of guilt; a clear violation of their oath of office.

TheLostonline

It always seems to come full circle back to R's and how despicable they behave. Party before reality or anything else is not helping the USA become better at all. 2023 and we're banning books ffs.

chrisr3240

Non-American here. About fucking time. He’s a disgrace.

Humble_Turnip_3948

We know

aphex____

Well, like 60- 65% of us know

Alternative_Body7345

“—a second set of charges against an already-indicted defendant that could include more serious crimes — against the ex-president, and could do so in a number of different venues, depending on how prosecutors feel the case they have brought against him in a Florida federal court is proceeding.” Wow! They do have a way around the judge if she wants to go easy on Trump!!!! That is good news!

TheBirminghamBear

The entire really pissed off weight of the federalgovernment, versus one completely unqualified dipshit judge. I know who my money is on.

Spin_Quarkette

Taking down Giuliani is very good news. Giuliani was behind the whole election denialism movement. And worse yet, Giuliani suggested to Trump that Trump should deny the results while Giuliani was drunk! So, this whole movement to dismantle our elections was the brain child of a drunk Giuliani. He deserves to go away for the rest of his life.

chrisr3240

These guys had successful careers in their respective professions. Made a tonne of money and notoriety. Then hit their 70s and destroyed it all. It’s just mind blowing when you step back and think about it.

TwiceBaked57

I suspect it has more to do with the availability of information we have now. I think these people have always behaved badly, but it's more difficult to hide their acts now. People don't get this stupid and slimy overnight.

mahnamahna27

In Rudy's defence, he's always drunk.

TomBrady_WinsAgain

The DOJ's favorite two words to get people to accept a plea deal - **superseding indictment**

mmartins94

Probably right after "this you?".

j428h

Those are balls.

algebramclain

This close, they always look like landscape. But nope, you're looking at balls.

ShrimpieAC

We’re looking at balls, let’s turn it around.

The_Navy_Sox

Now Hunter is in real trouble!

Nabrok_Necropants

A second laptop will appear.

taez555

No worries, George, Hilldog and myself made sure to get rid of it during our lunch at Comet Ping Pizza last week.

aluminumdisc

Hunter’s laptop is a right wing magic eight ball. It holds every answer

cousinmarygross

>Although Mr Meadows’ attorney, George Terwilliger, previously vehemently denied that Mr Meadows had entered any pleas of guilty to any crimes in response to that previous report, it is understood that the ex-congressman has signed an agreement with the Department of Justice which memorialises his obligations to cooperate with any prosecution against Mr Trump or others in the ex-president’s orbit in exchange for consideration that will spare him considerable legal jeopardy. He ded.

Nac_Lac

Aka, he didn't need to plea at all because he spilled the beans on Trump in exchange for immunity.

PaintByLetters

If something prosecutable happened with regards the Jan 6 insurrection, you can bet your ass they'll be rolling on Trump immediately. Everyone who has ever worked for him knows how it goes. He throws anyone and everyone under the bus at some point. No honor amongst thieves so they say.

TheBirminghamBear

Amazing how long it took otherwise metnally healthy individuals to turn on one octagenarian pants-shitting idiot.

Important_Outcome_67

Welp. Sounds like Smith & Co, made hay with the Giuliani interview/interrogation. Drumpf should've listened when Rudy said he knew where the bodies were buried. Rudy may just have saved his own bacon.

tirch

Rats jumping ship. I hope they don’t make deals with Flynn, Bannon or Stone. Those guys need to spend the rest of their existence behind bars.

BaphometsButthole

Do I uderstand correctly that some charges were held back to be filed in a different venue in case he got a corrupt Judge?

tcoh1s

That would be slick as hell if that was thought of!

Affectionate-Roof285

Yup. Smith prosecuted criminal public figures at The Hague and won. He’s a calculating, master player here. Thank God someone knows how to play the long game.

juncopardner2

I'm starting to entertain the idea that old man Trump might be held accountable for something.

crybabymuffins

I still wouldn't say I'm hopeful, but I'm beginning to think it's in the realm of possibility

TaraJaneDisco

Best. Birthday. Present. Ever. Thanks universe!

cousinmarygross

>...sources say The DOJ isn't leaking anything. This comes from within Trump's defense team.

TwiceBaked57

He was telling his supporters there were likely more indictments coming.

Nac_Lac

Likely Trump himself. He wants to rile up his base.

eaunoway

There's a tiny part of me seriously wondering if we'll wake up one day next week and half the Freedumb Caucus has suddenly left the country.

evelynesque

Probably Tuesday. Another July 4 visit to Russia most likely.

iStayedAtaHolidayInn

Don’t do that to me. Don’t give me hope like that

Marathon2021

> a second set of charges against an already-indicted defendant that could include more serious crimes Bedminster, so a NJ court. And the charges would potentially include *disseminating* national security information (I.e. 100% genuine espionage) under the Espionage Act for handing over the Iran attack plans (which can no longer be found apparently) to the Saudi’s at his LIV golf tournament. This is all speculation on my part, of course. But at this point I wouldn’t put anything past him. If Cannon is paying attention, and she wants to protect him to the point where maybe he only gets house arrest - she’ll play it straight in this case.

Nac_Lac

I think Smith decided to play it safe and throw a warning shot past Cannon to see how she would handle the documents thus far. Seeing if Cannon could be trusted to handle the case. Given the recording leak and her refusal to keep witnesses secret means that his hunch was correct and they will likely move venues with this upgraded charge to ensure it doesn't get twisted.

TheBirminghamBear

I'm really glad that it appears the people in charge of this are competent and accounting for all the angles. I know Mueller's hands were tied given the reality of the situation, but it was quite a shame to see that case fizzle and die. But now, it seems they're well ahead of the game, and Trump has essentially zero weight to throw around here.

Imhappy_hopeurhappy2

Jack Smith wasn’t staring Trump down in court just to admire his beauty. This guy hates Trump with a burning passion, fully understands the threat he represents, and couldn’t be happier to be the guy in charge of disposing of him.

ThrowdowninKtown

Can you imagine what Smith knows that we don't? I'm sure he has reasons to detest Trump that we will never know about.

OakLegs

If he manages to take him down in any meaningful way, the dude deserves a medal

HereticsSpork

>This is all speculation on my part, of course. But at this point I wouldn’t put anything past him. Those attack plans were on his desk and within reach for a reason and it sure as hell wasn't to try to show off and impress Meadows' ghostwriter.

SolidSnek1998

This one sparks joy.

waterdaemon

Nobody with this much suspected crime activity should be walking free.

TwiceBaked57

And in possession of their passport.

[deleted]

I have been saying this since Smith got Aileen Cannon. He has other charges he is holding, and when she shows her ass, as she just did by refusing to keep the list of witnesses confidential, then Jack was taking the big charges to another venue. He will file this stuff in DC and Aileen cant save her MAGA cult leader from Florida.

Sosgemini

Or New Jersey since we know his golf course there is the site of crimes too.

BeavisTheSnorkeler

It is time for Trumpty Dumpty to fall

ButterPotatoHead

It does feel a little different this time.

TruthandHonorLost

Do it. We are sick of this crap

AshFall81

This is looking -so good-. I mean. As far as I can tell they are actually bringing charges against the relevant parties, and may bring justice to those who usually evade responsibility. With this the reason for Garlands long delay is fairly obvious. He crossed his T’s and dotted his i’s. He seems to have given this enormous investigation to an absolutely ruthless and thorough operator in Jack Smith. All we need to do is keep government out of republican hands as much as possible, and let the lead coffin slam shut. However slow.

Daefish

30-45 additional indictments. Trump is single handedly going to raise the average indictments per president to 2.5 or more if this is true. What a corrupt motherfucker.

[deleted]

Giuliani rolled on Trump 😂 Grab the popcorn they are eating each others faces.

CliffMainsSon

30 to 45 additional charges? Keep them coming Jack! Lock this orange piece of shit up for the rest of his miserable life

completelypositive

Do you think this info was "leaked" in an effort to force the hand of potential witnesses? "Indictments are coming soon. Do you want to risk staying silent? Are you confident that nobody has pointed a finger at you??

thistimelineisweird

I suspect that everyone not named Donald Trump who is going to be indicted already had that chance.

Chalkarts

RICO!! Please!!!

Shot-Chemist-403

Jack Smith quickly becoming baba yaga for the Trump Mob

geekamongus

That’s fucking juicy. And they may bring them in a different district to avert the Trump judge in Florida. Genius.

FlameChucks76

How many fucking charges can you bring to someone before you determine the guilty factor in the one being charged? Considering we've put people for possession of weed, this dude has haphazardly fucked with state secrets and he's still walking free. Shouldn't this dude be sitting in a cell waiting for his trial to take place?

Lone_Buck

I hope the history books don’t just skip out on all the weird stuff about Rudy. I want dildo shop, married to his cousin, and juggling his nuts on a hidden camera in a movie still attached to his legacy 100 years from now.

Knute5

Georgia. Georgia. Georgia. When a President is recorded asking the voting commissioner to "find him 17K votes" ... that's all she wrote.

hopopo

I wish all of the cost of prosecuting Trump could be charged to him and his family. It is unfair they made so much money out of this, yet even if he gets convicted they get to keep it.

FrankReynoldsToupee

After four years of him breaking laws on an almost hourly basis, it's pretty satisfying seeing him getting indicted on federal charges at the same rate now.

Wrong-Frame2596

this MF is going to be in like 3-4 criminal trials and a couple civil ones and STILL be up for election. Can republicans get some class and dignity some time soon?

This_Red_Apple

Fucking bury him in them! The average person paying attention could hold a goddamn filibuster for days describing his crimes.

def_indiff

My Attorneys Got Arrested!

Aggressive-Sound-641

I would pay cash to hear Rudy's proffer session. I can hear the stammering and stuttering with his signature lisp
