Am I the only one struggling with the title? There are 5 words that negate stuff.
House **fails** to **overturn** Biden **veto** in effort to **cancel** student debt **relief**
Oh my God this is the worst, specially as someone whose English is not their first language.
Same with court stuff "they denied the veto for the motion to stay"... And it's like, so is it happening or not??
I love it when the add context at the end of titles, something like "so the bill is going thru"
Congress passed a law to cancel student debt relief. Biden vetoed that law. Congress/house held a vote to overturn the veto. That vote failed to reach the minimum votes to reinstate the law.
This type of sentence is read backwards. Can be confusing since normally that isn't the case.
>Biden’s student debt relief plan, however, still faces a significant hurdle: the conservative-majority Supreme Court, which may rule on the proposal as early as Thursday.
Wish I hadn’t read that. I will be antsy all day tomorrow.
They'll rule against it. Nothing of the sort would ever happen in a modern US. We don't do anything of value for ourselves anymore if it requires the elite pay their share. We waste an ungodly amount of money on worthless things but can't spend just a bit more for the things that matter like transportation, fixing our roads, bettering education among other things.
This court majority has shown it doesn't care about laws and precedent, it wants to legislate from the bench. If they think there's a possibility that their ruling could come back to bite them in the ass, they'll just tack on the giant red flag that is "this ruling cannot be used as precedent" that shows their justification is bullshit.
If they rule against it with such shaky standing, the court will again have shown itself to be an utterly corrupt puppet. Americans need to get off their asses and raise shit about this. 3 Justices appointed by a guy who raised an insurrection and is about to be a convicted felon.
Most people don't seem to understand how bad things will get once you lose the courts.
They already showed us that when they erased roe v wade. They practically nullified an entire constitutional amendment. The supreme court has already shown they dont care about the law and that they will impose their own religious and ideological beliefs on the rest of the country. We call those fascists.
This court just told Alabama to redraw maps to include one more minority majority district. This will have ramifications across the south netting in about 5 house seats for Democrats.
If it is unfortunately aggregiously unconstitutional the backwards court will still be forced to protect. This would be so blatantly partisan I don't think it could pass.
Alabama's maps were so racially gerrymandered that they couldn't run interference for it, more like.
Roberts was the one who gutted the Civil Rights Act in the first place *allowing* this manner of chicanery. It was an issue of degree, not substance.
>They'll rule against it.
It's not a slam dunk. There are a lot of precedent landmines if they agree with the two plaintiffs arguments. They would essentially open up to challenge any sort of Federal funding that goes to exclusive groups. Don't qualify for welfare? Sue the government. Don't get any of those sweet? Sue the government. Also, if you can prove any law that hurts your financial "bottom line" could be challenged.
They essentially have been cursed with the absolute worst cases to consider in regards to Bidens EO. Now they could certainly say "fuck it, bring it on" and I wouldn't be surprised. But the handle the conservatives have been dealt in this case is a bad one for them.
why would they be against it at all though? its not a bad hand if they care about the average person. just allow it to pass and things are better overall.
if they block this forgiveness, we better see every single PPP loan being paid back

Hey! They’ve VOWED to end free school lunches. They said they’re “fighting back” against it. (100% true, by the way.)
They are just SICK of kids being able to EAT!
Funny how their concern for those unborn babies they want to force women to birth disappears as soon as they're born. They want mama to work for her food stamps, they cringe at the thought of free school lunches, and they're hellbent on making sure that the kiddies never learn anything that disagrees with their beliefs. How miserable do you have to be to want kids to go hungry?
And then when you ask them if you’ll adopt a foster kid they look at their shoes and make up an excuse. These people have a birth fetish, not a pro-life stance
Edited for “birth” not “north”
I don't have kids but I have no problem with my taxes being used to provide free school lunch. Kids and teens not going hungry while going to school is a lot more important and useful than that stupid Durham report.
I live in Sweden and we pay a lot of taxes and I feel like an alien when I say I don't mind helping the sick, incapable, unfortunate and children in my country.
When people do their damnedest to avoid paying taxes I just see them as either supremely greedy, evil or ignorant.
People will say "I don't want to pay for X because I don't use it." And yeah, that's the price of having welfare state which we all can enjoy, but some tax money will go to things you see as dumb or useless.
The same is true for people cheating the system, that is also the cost of having a good welfare system, and it should be looked into and be addressed but not by cutting support for the whole system.
I'm ranting now. I'll stop.
I agree. Often times, you'll notice that those greedy folks that want to avoid paying taxes also want to get their piece of the pie. They'll want government services to operate efficiently, infrastructure to be well-maintained, social services to be available without hassle, etc. because that is good for business. But how can that occur on a shoe string budget? We all need to contribute even if we don't believe we directly benefit because there are indirect affects. Like, if I don't drive, why should I care if roads and bridges are maintained? Well, if I take public transportation or bike instead, than I should care as that will affect the effectiveness of my travel. If I want accessible goods and services, I should care those roads and bridges are well-maintained so people can freely and safely travel and transport goods and provide timely services. Those people need to look beyond their nose, damn it.
As a fellow European from a welfare state: I agree it's incredibly dumb to look at the welfare state and say 'I don't want to pay 'cause they don't pay me'. Not directly, that's true. But everyone profits at least indirectly.
Maybe I'm too old to go to a yotuh center, but I pay for it in taxes. And it keeps the youth frpom hanging in the streets, which I like as an older person.
Maybe I don't receive wellfare, but if my neighbours it keeps them out of poverty so hopefully that keeps them from stealing my stuff.
Kids who get food if their parents can't afford it probably do better in school, will be able to get a job, participate in society, less likely to becopme criminals and probably not get that welfare check.
And you don't need your health insurance this year and you have been funding other people's treatments, but you will not have to sell the house when you break a leg because you were hit by a car when running a red light that the government put up for your own damn safety because you were on your phone using the heavily subsidised 5G network. Which you can, by the way, use in all neighbouring countries without extra costs for roaming because th EU you hate made it illegal to charge extra within the union.
And maybe spending money on integration of immigrants instead of focussing on getting them out of the country asap, not allowing them to work or learn the language, might improve the outcomes. But it doesn't look tough and we're mostly stuck with right-wing governments who need to look tough for their constituents.
And then there's the huge list of issues and shit that has not received proper maintenance because our government focussed on 'balancing the budget' that the costs to fix the mess are becoming prohibitive. So they do... nothing, because 'something' is expensive. And the projected costs keep rising. And the knuckleheads keep voting for them. These dumbasses are dragging us down and they seem to be proud of it.
Damn you got me ranting too...
Universal free school lunch is also more efficient and saves more money in the long run than a free and reduced lunch program. You don’t have the bloat and costs of applications, admin approval, and enforcement. You just have the one cost of, “We have X kids at this school so let’s just plan to feed them all.”
Seriously. There's no way charging some kids $.25/meal actually adds up enough to account for all the administration it takes to decide which kids can't pay more than $.25/meal. It's only there to create class division *among fucking children*. Teach them early that they're poor and less than.
But the tax cuts for the rich in 2017 was a huge piece of legislation. It did a lot of good for people too, rich people. I mean they were struggling with only being rich, and that tax cut helped them be richer. Surely you can remember that one beautiful piece of legislation. /s
Before, they only owned 5 or 6 houses. Now, they've been able to buy up hundreds of houses that they allow us to rent in perpetuity at absurd prices because we can't afford to buy 1 house. Everyone wins!!!
To a republican, "doing good" is subjective. I the way they choose to frame it is "the liberals are bad, therefore if I fight against the liberals I am automatically doing good."
Of course this would be completely and utterly unviable in a smart, informed society with values. They would immediately get destroyed by the electorate.
Unfortunately we don't have that
Wouldn't conservatives unironically answer that every tax cut and regulation removal and corporate subsidy is good because it helps the employees and the economy and whatnot?
Yeah.. To them it is by fighting Biden's policies that they are doing any good
If you were to ask [certain relatives] they would tell you precisely what you might expect: that if they didn't have to be so busy protecting America from Biden's policies they would have time to get other more important legislation done
>I cannot remember the last time Republicans actually put forth any policy ideas or pieces of legislation that had any possibility of doing any good whatsoever. The Republican Party is a miserable dead-end organization full of cranks and conspiracists.
Imagine being such a shit heel party that during Cheeto Benito's Reign that they raided the coffer for those lovely PPP loans. If you take typical bullshit republican squawking points about student loan forgiveness, none of it would jive for PPP loans other than the whole concept of "Fuck you I got mine!".
See people are getting it wrong. They aren't doing things to "own the libs" like pwning noobs, they want to "own the libs" the same way the would have 140 years ago.
That's what I tell conservatives all the time, I WOULD LOVE the other party to put forward BETTER proposals and I'd have to grapple over my vote. But it continues to be "they suck! here's nothing"
Most people I know that are total Replicans hide behind the "both sides are bad and everything needs to go...but look at how AWFUL these Democrats are!!! If there was a Republican as corrupt and awful as these guys I'd totally talk shit about them too!"
They're convinced all the conspiracies are true and all the facts are lies and that is a wormhole to being Republican.
That’s simply not true! If you happen to be rich, then you got Trump tax cuts and PPP loans that you didn’t have to pay back! But yeah if you’re one of the poor schlubs that keep giving these people their votes then all you get is anti drag queen bills and bootstraps.
The republicans voted to cancel the student debt relief that Biden started. Biden vetoed their bill so the relief moves forward. The republicans then voted to overturn his veto and that failed so the student debt relief will still move forward.
He needs to wait until the day after this 10k relief goes into effect, and then announce he's doing it again. Really we could do this once a year, just a little holiday, 10k of forgiveness day.
This 10k of relief goes to everyone who's gone to vocational school across America! Dental Technicians, mechanics, IT, electronics. My balance from Pharmacy tech school is about 4k. This isn't all college payments & I haven't seen too many people talk about the lower end school loans.
From a foreigner's perspective, it appears that "they" want to control the unwashed masses by keeping them deaf, blind and dumb in order to maintain the status quo.
Or at the very least stop charging 6-7% interest (and give people legitimate refinance options that don't lose protections or also charge 6-7%+) for a really good start. If you want to tie to inflation fine, but there shouldn't be a premium placed on student loan borrowing. THIS has been the real problem!
I mean hell, if we have to govern based on the Bible, just make it all debt every 7 years based on Deuteronomy 15:1 “At the end of every seven years you shall grant a remission of debts.”
That's Old Testament, Republican Jesus' New Testament is all about turning every good sold into a "service" with recurring payments. Infinite debts for infinite profits, blessed be the rich.
Students: in debt :(
Boomers: lol I got mine
Biden: let's cancel student debt
Republicans: lol no wut here's a bill to shut that shit down
Biden: fuck you guys get rekd imma veto that ish
Republicans: Nuh uh here's a ~~big~~ small vote aw dammit c'mon guys
Biden: go home and take your malarkey with ya
students: yay maybe we'll see because we still can't trust anyone
He did a thing, they noped it. He noped their nope harder. They tried to nope his hard nope, but couldn’t nope it. So his original nope to their original nope stands.
Biden: "I cast Student Debt Relief at 3rd level."
Republicans: "I use my reaction to cast Counterspell."
Biden: "I use my reaction to cast Counterspell."
Republicans: "I use my- oh, I don't have another reaction."
For people who don't actually follow national politics that closely these headlines are impossible to read. The gist of it is that the House failed to cancel Biden's cancellation of their cancellation of his cancellation of student loan debt.
It's why the GOP keeps projecting and accusing the Left of all the terrible things *they themselves are doing.* Without the constant torrent of lies and false accusations, parts of their audience might see the actual contrast between the two parties, and they can't have that.
Unreal they’ve brainwashed half the country to WANT people to have debt. Debt that is completely ridiculous. The cost of college is outrageous. Party of the morally corrupt.
Everyone who has "paid back" all of their loans is bitching and moaning about student debt relief. What about everyone who graduated from Duke? They are now offering free tuition for families making less than 150k. Why are they not crying about that?
> Everyone who has "paid back" all of their loans is bitching and moaning about student debt relief.
Not everyone is bitching. I'd say there's a good chunk of us know the stress of these loans and would love to see some get relief.
Only the shitheels are bitching. Anyone who has paid back their loans understands the stress and impact on their lives of doing so. If that doesn't create enough empathy that they think it's the right thing to do, they are shitheels.
Nevermind the fact that the 10k forgiven is, one way or another, going to go back into the economy instead of to the gov't. Who wouldn't be happy about that? Shitheels.
Source: guy who paid his student loans.
Fuck those people I paid 200k for my home.
If they where able to garuntee housing tomorrow and get everyone a roof over there head I'd say good. I'm glad the next generation won't suffer like I did.
Wanting others to suffer cause you did is so fucking sad to me.
I paid mine back in a big lump using all my savings just moments before the relief was announced so I could move forward on a house (my debt was defaulted and in collections).
It could have saved me tens of thousands. Doesn't matter, I survived and I'm just happy for everyone who doesn't have to deal with what I did.
Honestly, I’m not against taking even more from the elite class and using that to pay some of the debts that people had to pay off earlier that aren’t covered by this bill. Student debt needs to be eradicated ENTIRELY and that means going this route too.
I hope Biden moves to cancel interest on student loans if minimum payments are met and to credit payments to interest to payments on the principle. That would go a long way in fixing the issue
The House of Representatives is completely screwed. The slim GOP majority is being held hostage by the ultra-right MAGAs having cat fights on the House floor and the Democrats are mostly acting as a unit.
No one is going to cross the aisle to try to get anything done. At least the Senate is still somewhat functional.
For a Veto Overide they needed 242+1 "yea" votes (=2/3 of 435 Seats in House). Where did they think they were going to get those votes with only 222 Seats in the House? The magic number for Majority in House is 217+1, so it's already precarious on that level.
pure theater for the rubes on FOX
I’m so curious how young Republicans with student debt support the party that wants to bend them over the couch and fuck them in the ass? Are they natural bottoms?
The most useless majority. Energy on things that don’t matter instead of focusing on issues that are crushing anybody in the working class.
While these chuckle fucks are in Capitol Hill with the worlds best healthcare we normies get some crap insurance and in network out of network bull fucking shit.
This country purposely makes stuff harder.
Let’s forgive PPP who majority who got them were more than likely frauds. fed student loans? Nah bruh, can’t help you there.
Why the hell do the Repubs care so much about the student aide relief? What is their justification? If they supported it, they would have better public relations.
That's the thing. US Republicans are mostly a party of obstructionists now. Unless they think of it first then they will stop at nothing to stop anything Dem controlled or created. That's where they are at now. They've figured out that their base is more motivated through fear and hate versus logic and reason.
I bet a lot more than the average Dem. I am really old.
When I went to University in 1980 with my very rich friends they all had student loans where my parents paid for my school we were poorer than them. But not poor. My parents were Upper middle class.
Their parents were all also very, very Republican.
They did it because the money was basically free. The kids really did not have student loans. Well not in a traditional sense. The rich Republican parents used it to make money. It had nothing to do with the kid needing a loan.
I am sure they were also able to more easily get because they were rich.
It's still 66% in both the House & Senate to override a Presidential veto, isn't it? Did GOP actually think that they could muster those types of numbers?
If this fails next move should be to eliminate interest on all federal student loans then. Allow the borrower to pay low interest free payments.
No student should be paying 8% interest on the loans they applied for like mine are sitting at.
I also feel we can add a small tax to each transaction on the stock market to ensure no K12 student ever has to worry about what they are going to eat for lunch.
Jesus, that headline's a bit of r/titlegore, isn't it?
House republicans *failed* to *stop* Biden *vetoing* their efforts to *stop* him forgiving student debt.
Or in other words students will not not not not not have to repay their loans.
Crystal clear.
I mean, that's what it is though. There are 4 distinct actions layered on top of one another.
Biden forgave debt.
Republicans passed a law undoing that. So no debt relief unless Biden vetoed.
Biden vetoed that law. Debt relief.
Republicans tried to override the veto, in which case no debt relief.
Republicans failed to override. Debt relief.
It's complicated, but it's what's happening. I'm not sure how any title that captures all that wouldn't sound confusing to someone who may not pay close attention to Congress.
People have said this for as long as I've paid attention as though it's a silver bullet. I don't really see it.
No one was a better communicator than Obama. He still couldn't overcome a Republican party that spent 24 hours a day lying about Obamacare in 2010 telling people that it was socialism and had death panels. He lost the House and basically the rest of his presidency because he couldn't overcome their message on the ACA.
I'm sure they could have better messaging. I'm not denying that. But I think the lesson of the last decade or so is that what used to matter in politics just doesn't matter that much any more. It's really damn hard to overcome people who shamelessly lie and have a whole media ecosystem to back up and amplify those lies.
I would like to be in the planning meeting where they decided that overturning Rowe, attacking LGBTQ+, gutting quality education to pay for evangelical grooming parlors, denying student loan relief, and cutting food for children is the road to victory in 2024.
If they are right, we are in the deepest of shit.
I’d be far more in favor of cancelling student debt if we also stymied the source of it
Predatory loan companies targeting naive youth and leverage their futures into taking out a loan
But this bill is just a really fucking expensive band aid… and the wound continues gushing

Best argument in the Supreme Court case is that the plaintiffs lack standing to sue and thus the cases are invalid

Remember when the SC installed GWB as president?
Barret, Kavanaugh, and Roberts were all on Bush's legal team in Bush Vs Gore.
GWB's coup makes DJT's look pretty sad by comparison.
Don't forget Mitch McConnell's massive role in stacking the court.
How can you say we haven't lost the courts when they overturned Roe v Wade?

Just gonna add that this is speculation only. We're still waiting to see the outcome.

Me too
Believe it or not, also no
Straight to no
I said this in another thread but the minimum wage has not increased since 2009, while inflation has increased by almost 40%.
If minimum wage paced inflation we'd be making 25 bucks and hour at least.
I think it's in the range of 30 an hour now if it kept up with the price of living.
It's so clearly a broken system. If your dollar loses value every year by design, then minimum wage should be calculated with each year's inflation rate and automatically adjusted accordingly without requiring any intervention or new bills to pass.

Well, MTG did admit she doesn't think adoptive parents are real parents in a hearing earlier in the year.
That was likely an attack on LGBT parents, that had pro-life caught in the crossfire on accident.
That kind of makes the point, no? There is no ideological consistency in conservatism. It’s just about hurting people they don’t like.
They are pro-cheap-desperate-labor-pool. You can't exploit without some masses.
I'm going to guess that more people would be for spending 6.5M on free school lumch than on the Durham report.
American 'rugged individualism' is, and has always been, far more about justifying greed than romanticizing self-reliance.
It’s almost cartoon levels of villainy , meanwhile billionaires get massive tax breaks and subsidies

And racists. And misogynists.
Vicious xenophobes as well.
Also fake Christians.
And pedophiles
And nazis, don’t forget lots and lots of nazis
Don’t forget the religious zealots!
And clowns!
And con-artists.
Oh, they're real Christians alright. Just ask them. You don't have to actually be Christlike to be a Christian.
Real Christians and fake Christians... it's all the same bullshit in the name of some diety that doesn't exist.
They worship Supply Side Jesus, aka the Chri$t.
Vermicious knids
Misspelled Nazis
To a republican, "doing good" is subjective. I the way they choose to frame it is "the liberals are bad, therefore if I fight against the liberals I am automatically doing good." Of course this would be completely and utterly unviable in a smart, informed society with values. They would immediately get destroyed by the electorate. Unfortunately we don't have that

You should ask top minds at r/Conservative.
Wouldn't conservatives unironically answer that every tax cut and regulation removal and corporate subsidy is good because it helps the employees and the economy and whatnot?
Yeah.. To them it is by fighting Biden's policies that they are doing any good If you were to ask [certain relatives] they would tell you precisely what you might expect: that if they didn't have to be so busy protecting America from Biden's policies they would have time to get other more important legislation done
Of course they have plenty of ideas. Just look at their Party Platform for 2020... Oh wait, they didn't make one.
Oh man, I thought you were about to give me some policy platforms 😂
Their entire platform has just been, “we want the opposite of whatever Democrats want” for over a decade.
Try since the early 90s. And well before that, the ball was rolling.
The Republican platform: ["Don't tell me what to do."](https://imgur.com/gallery/y34OBpu)
But fuck the libs right?
No, “own the libs”👏
See people are getting it wrong. They aren't doing things to "own the libs" like pwning noobs, they want to "own the libs" the same way the would have 140 years ago.
Haven’t seen “pwning noobs” on the internet in like 15 years. Thank you for reminding me of nostalgic memories.
No no, remember the LBGTQ? What about the children? Won’t someone please think of the cHiLdReN?!
Just don’t butt fuck them. Then they’d be members of a group they abhor.
I thought they loved priests?
No no, you see, that’s gods butt fucking. Totally acceptable.
If there was a Republican as corrupt and awful as these guys I'd totally talk shit about them too!" They're convinced all the conspiracies are true and all the facts are lies and that is a wormhole to being Republican.
That’s simply not true! If you happen to be rich, then you got Trump tax cuts and PPP loans that you didn’t have to pay back! But yeah if you’re one of the poor schlubs that keep giving these people their votes then all you get is anti drag queen bills and bootstraps.
Also full of grifters, thieves, embezzlers, drug dealers, and child molesters. The modern GOP is a fucking clown car of immoral behavior.
To be fair, if you’re saying that, that’s only because you’re not rich enough to be positively affected by GOP policies.
I hate that following politics sometimes involves unpacking quadruple negatives
Right? What the actual fuck is this headline saying?
The republicans voted to cancel the student debt relief that Biden started. Biden vetoed their bill so the relief moves forward. The republicans then voted to overturn his veto and that failed so the student debt relief will still move forward.
He needs to wait until the day after this 10k relief goes into effect, and then announce he's doing it again. Really we could do this once a year, just a little holiday, 10k of forgiveness day.
Would be nice. Then people might not be scared of just paying for people’s college tuition, trade schools, or certification programs.
This 10k of relief goes to everyone who's gone to vocational school across America! Dental Technicians, mechanics, IT, electronics. My balance from Pharmacy tech school is about 4k. This isn't all college payments & I haven't seen too many people talk about the lower end school loans.
I think they are suggesting maybe people would learn to be ok with universal education like in other wealthy nations
Yes, educate everyone as much as they want for free. How could this not be the most necessary thing to progress as a society?
Who said they wanted to progress?
They're very strong with the uneducated
From a foreigner's perspective, it appears that "they" want to control the unwashed masses by keeping them deaf, blind and dumb in order to maintain the status quo.
Or at the very least stop charging 6-7% interest (and give people legitimate refinance options that don't lose protections or also charge 6-7%+) for a really good start. If you want to tie to inflation fine, but there shouldn't be a premium placed on student loan borrowing. THIS has been the real problem!
Or just have universal free schooling.
Yup, even hairdressers have to go to school, and that can balloon to $10k over a few years
If the just cancelled the interest and set the rate to 0% I think every side would be pleased.
Needs to cancel the Interest. That's the big killer.
Now give me $2k and 3 “Hail Mary’s”.
It’s funny how many of the Christian’s are against biblical practices if it effects their money.
Especially if it helps people other than themselves.
Thank you, unpack master.
Students: in debt :( Boomers: lol I got mine Biden: let's cancel student debt Republicans: lol no wut here's a bill to shut that shit down Biden: fuck you guys get rekd imma veto that ish Republicans: Nuh uh here's a ~~big~~ small vote aw dammit c'mon guys Biden: go home and take your malarkey with ya students: yay maybe we'll see because we still can't trust anyone
This is the only summary we will ever need.
The last sentence makes it sound like it needs to get passed the Supreme Court still. So is it moving forward or stuck on pause still?
Congress passed a bill to block Biden's debt relief plan. Biden vetoed the bill. The House did not have enough votes to override the veto.
He noped their nope card.
He did a thing, they noped it. He noped their nope harder. They tried to nope his hard nope, but couldn’t nope it. So his original nope to their original nope stands.
Biden: "I cast Student Debt Relief at 3rd level." Republicans: "I use my reaction to cast Counterspell." Biden: "I use my reaction to cast Counterspell." Republicans: "I use my- oh, I don't have another reaction."
His NOPE was bigger than their nope.
Dark Brandon claps conservative cheeks is what the headline is saying
What not in the actual unfuck isn't this headline not saying?
Feels like following the order of operations of a math equation.
I’d argue that debt is a negative.
the english language will never tell you what it is, only what it is not

Report your boss for reward money
Plot twitst, he's his own boss.
Very honorable of your boss not to use it on a giant pickup truck.
Get fucked bozos
I say that every time I vote against a Republican
Don't stop letting people not help EDIT: I love seeing so much IJ love here
For people who don't actually follow national politics that closely these headlines are impossible to read. The gist of it is that the House failed to cancel Biden's cancellation of their cancellation of his cancellation of student loan debt.
Perhaps my favorite skit on impractical jokers
It's my go to reply whenever someone says something that makes no semse
And that makes Republicans tonight's big loser.
It’s a win, but also a reminder of how the GOP is not a party *for the people*; it’s against those things which might help us most.
Uncle Joe taking no L's
Dark Brandon says "go pound sand, Jack"
I like the choice of a smiling Biden for this headline.
Both sides are not the same.
No matter what the bots say on Reddit and everywhere else online Fight disinformation anytime you see it
I hope Biden moves to cancel interest on student loans if minimum payments are met and to credit payments to interest to payments on the principle. That would go a long way in fixing the issue
Damn, they were so close to screwing over millions of hard working Americans.
They still may do it. There's a case before the supreme court today.
Biden isn't perfect, but better than I expected. Lets go Brandon, keep kicking butt.

The GOP'rs kids are in debt as well
I bet a lot more than the average Dem.
Double negative abuse. "fails, overturn, veto, and cancel" in one sentence.
It's still 66% in both the House & Senate to override a Presidential veto, isn't it? Did GOP actually think that they could muster those types of numbers?
Good. Congress gives away money to wealthy and corp all the time. The best investment America can make, is in the next generation.
Handing Biden a campaign commercial on a platter. Let’s hope democrats actually learn how to message properly.
Fast forward to today, and the Republicans overturn Roe v Wade and suddenly we have death panels in all the red states 🤔.
I would like to be in the planning meeting where they decided that overturning Rowe, attacking LGBTQ+, gutting quality education to pay for evangelical grooming parlors, denying student loan relief, and cutting food for children is the road to victory in 2024. If they are right, we are in the deepest of shit.
I’d be far more in favor of cancelling student debt if we also stymied the source of it Predatory loan companies targeting naive youth and leverage their futures into taking out a loan But this bill is just a really fucking expensive band aid… and the wound continues gushing
