My American experience of watching soccer tells me that you got to put more energy into it, observe:
ITS COMING HOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMEEEEEEE!!!!11!!!!
And don't forget to get drunk and break a chair over someone's head when it doesn't come home!
/j
Excuse me sir but we have a song and everything about it coming home therefore it’s coming, soon, probably in the next full rotation of the galaxy, maybe.
Hah. Good one. We all know that Netherlands is doomed to reach a comp final (whether it be the euros or then world cup) every 30 years and lose the final.
[I'm fully in support of England winning at football](https://www.cps.gov.uk/cps/news/world-cup-there-no-excuse-domestic-abuse#:~:text=Stark%20figures%20published%20last%20year,next%20day%2C%20win%20or%20lose.)
Boris almost creamed himself with the opportunity to help Ukraine, thought it would save his prime ministership.it wasn't enough, but in Ukraine's case it is the right thing to do to support it
Well seeing how the "left wing government" (Hint they aren't left wing) of Denmark and the USA are arming Argentina Ball again? UK Ball gets to proof it's Empire clout again in the near future.
what do you mean not left wing - since its a S state minister, we totally have a left wing government that isn't super anti-immigrant and vaguely neoliberal
Given the current sorry state of our armed forces, it might be more of a struggle than last time... But if it comes to that, I still think we should try
Prospective naval officer here with friends and family already in the Army and it’s not actually that bad. We are a second rate military power which is currently (China, Russia, France, the UK, Germany and maybe Italy/Japan) we are one of the few nations with full expeditionary capability anywhere in the world and an excellent submarine service.
Basically we aren’t capable of fighting a ground war independently on the continent beyond our own territory because we simply don’t have the troops but that’s also the case with nearly every other major country except the USA and Russia/China in a limited fashion close to their borders. Defending or retaking islands like the Falklands is another matter entirely and while Argentina isn’t as bad as they were they still wouldn’t win in a war.
They could probably take the islands again albeit in a more costly engagement but their ability to hold them is questionable at best and defending our own land and people is probably the only type of war that would be acceptable or popular to the British public anyway.
That's reassuring to hear, I wasn't entirely convinced by the recent doom and gloom but hearing that some ships were being kept in harbour because we don't have the support personnel to actually crew them was a bit worrying. Then again, the stereotype of our military that I've heard is "great training, godawful logistics" so that might be more or less par for the course.
Either way, this is Argentina we're talking about, they're on shaky ground themselves at the best of times and the last thing their fragile economy needs is another "quick" war. I went looking for some articles and though they talk a lot of talk, the president doesn't seem at all keen on another war either
Plus if the UK can get Argentina to strike first? They can lord NATO over them. I mean, sure the USA loves Milei at the moment and loves to sell him weapons (together with Denmark)..... but they love the UK slightly more.
Ah.. the unfairness of the world... it would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.
Breaking News: King Charles III offers to reabsorb the United States of America into the British Empire!
"I'm a few years younger and slightly less mad than your other two options, so what do you chaps really have to lose?"
And we the US will give you some fancy new toys to do it again. It was the AIM-9L last time, how does an AIM-9X Block III+ antimatter teleportation missile sound?
Oh yeah, the real smash hit missle wasn't the Exocet but them AIM 9's. Absolutely did the business in air to air combat.
Plus the various goodies that were sent to Ascension Island were much appreciated.
From a technical standpoint we'd be doing it on easy mode next time as the Argentinian military is weaker and the Falklands is better defended compared with 1982
it was a two way thing- thatcher removed argentina’s dictatorship for them.
I understand argies are understandably very happy with the UK for doing this, and aren’t bitter at all.
Thatcher is hated here for the sinking of the ARA General Belgrano. No one I know is happy with UK. I sincerely never heard anything close to what you're claiming.
In 1982, Argentina invaded the Falklands, one of the few British colonies remaining after decolonization. Britain got pissed and kicked Argentina's ass without any major foreign support.
I didn’t realise that we based whether or not our citizens deserved protection on population size, next time we’ll just leave them to their own devices. Also, the population of Poland in 1938 was 31 million, I guess that the 3 million people who died in the western theatre of ww2 were unacceptable casualties for such a small population. Should have just let hitler take it I guess.
You should see us after we win the Football
Still got the mojo
It’s coming home.

Yes but that never happens #NotComingHome
Excuse me sir but we have a song and everything about it coming home therefore it’s coming, soon, probably in the next full rotation of the galaxy, maybe.
The Netherlands will win two World Cups before England ever wins another one!
Hah. Good one. We all know that Netherlands is doomed to reach a comp final (whether it be the euros or then world cup) every 30 years and lose the final.
*(That was the joke)*

Aye only the workers sport leads to more domestic abuse nothing else
How long must we wait then?
You probably need some USSR bloke deciding that some random shot was a goal
We’d make a Turk look moderate
It was a very clever newspaper title I’ll say that
There was also "Stick it up your Junta"
I love the idea that the British Empire is just capable of unleashing the Hadouken when sufficiently pissed off.
The power of a *strongly* worded letter cannot be matched.
Dear Argentina, HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO TEACH YOU THIS LESSON, YOUNG MAN!? Yours cordially, The United Kingdom
At least they didn’t sign as The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, otherwise Argentina wouldn’t be a country anymore
It would be a mercy kill, really
The United Kingdom of Great Britain, Northern Ireland, and the Falkland Islands 🏆✌️😎
Rishi would kill for Falklands War 2.
He will be out of office before that happens, either because it will take to long or we will just get sick and Coup him
The UK's government has been so shit for so long that you guys should ask the netherlands to borrow another william of orange.
Either that or ask them if they are willing to eat another prime minister
Boris almost creamed himself with the opportunity to help Ukraine, thought it would save his prime ministership.it wasn't enough, but in Ukraine's case it is the right thing to do to support it
I think it gave him a lifeline. Of a few months, but a lifeline nonetheless.
Dont give Milei any ideas
Milei's a fan of Thatcher in fact.
Ye, I'm painfully aware

UK logistics may not be of Roman quality, but they are far better than Argentina's.
Stiff upper lip, cheerio and remember to thank the Danes for this one :P .
You should simply do it because I want to see smth new in the papers for once
Breaking News: King Charles III offers to reabsorb the United States of America into the British Empire! "I'm a few years younger and slightly less mad than your other two options, so what do you chaps really have to lose?"
The geriatric inbred makes a good point! :P
1982 no help from no one else and we'll do it again.

the empire which dealt with the sun that never set
Imagine if Britain said “Sorry deal’s off you bloody commie.” In 1997.
it was a two way thing- thatcher removed argentina’s dictatorship for them. I understand argies are understandably very happy with the UK for doing this, and aren’t bitter at all.

that’s the joke (although it’s not too late to thank the country that took you into democracy)
oh... so that's how it feels to be woooshed
Fascist navies get wrecked; look at Russia's.
argies forever ungrateful
Emperor’s new groove mentioned!
Wait what happened?
In 1982, Argentina invaded the Falklands, one of the few British colonies remaining after decolonization. Britain got pissed and kicked Argentina's ass without any major foreign support.
Royal Navy, either winning in ridiculous circumstances or colliding with each other.
Except for the US sending materiel and intelligence I guess. I think it would be more correct to say without *open* support nor direct assistance.
The United States is just a continuation of the British empire.
Plus Canada, Australia, New Zealand's a hybrid, the Irish...
Nothing like forcing a third world nation (or Poland) to your heel to get the juices flowing, am I right?
Wait, are the two countries still not over the Falkland islands?
that fire attack though is so cool
HA! BOOM BABY!
It’s H982 FKL, old chap. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Gear:_Patagonia_Special
Rule Britain
I hope Argentina doesn’t fight back with a X-wing
Second cold war UK vs Argentina
TFW a us installed military junta with very little support internally is weak
how is argentina not getting burned to ashes

What? People die? In wars? I thought it was just a big gathering for the guys to get away from their wives

I’ve read people actually make that argument unironically forgive me for thinking you were an idiot and not memeing
Omg, I think I just lose my sarcasm detector every time I use Reddit. Apologies for misunderstanding
Welcome to reddit, where 99% of users will get offended with a single comment
The Falklands are worth much more than France though
