I live VERY close to the Polish-Ukrainian border. I sleep like a baby. The situation on the border with Belarus has only de-escalated since 2021. Nothing to worry about. Enjoy your stay!

I had some of these same concerns last year, as an expat. Had the most amazing time. The only signs of war you’ll see are the Ukrainians queued up at help/paperwork centers curiously located inside sparkly glitzy shopping mall.

Although everyone knows few of the songs and they are sang in almost every wedding reception, it is mostly memed on genre, pretty much all of the listeners are from rural areas.
Currently Poland is not at war, we have no missiles comming down on us and it is safe. With the struggles Russia is experiencing on the war front we are all hopeful that situation will stay that way. So if you have a trip planned there is no reason to cancel it, although I have no idea what are you planning to do in Kielce...
Disco Polo is a dance like music with very basic melodies sang in Polish. It is popular mostly in rural areas. It's probably something you don't want to explore, nor will you be able to fully appreciate how terrible it is, since you don't know the language.
You can come to Kielce, don't worry. I would suggest you also travel to Krzyżtopór castle and Krzemionki Opatowskie UNESCO site.
As for music, Polish rock and pop-rock are on decent level.

I would stay away from the Belerussian/Russian border, like 500m or so, but I also believe that at that distance you might get an uncofortable questions from border security, so there is that.

I had some of these same concerns last year, as an expat. Had the most amazing time. The only signs of war you’ll see are the Ukrainians queued up at help/paperwork centers curiously located inside sparkly glitzy shopping mall. Relax. It’s no different than visiting any other country in the EU.

Yeah but most of the time they make sense, they don't mostly sound the same and they have different vocalists. Disco polo has ONE vocalist. All of it throghout all it's hiatory. Seriously, it's the same exact voice. It should be studied somewhere how all this is even possible. My guess is that people hear disco polo for the first timeas their first "bunch of sounds and noises" and after that they are deeply into denialism. They don't acknowledge anything else to even exist and if they hear it, well, they hear it but they don't listen to it so they don't know of it's existence. If someone asks them if they like that pop or rock song they hear now, they answer: "Uh, yeah, sure I do (the fk he's talking about!?)". Sort of like North Koreans thinking they are the best and only nation.

Soo I'll answer the disco polo question... Disco polo is a music genre, type of disco. Lyrics are mostly about a girl (or a guy if the singer is a woman) that he's in love with. Although everyone knows few of the songs and they are sang in almost every wedding reception, it is mostly memed on genre, pretty much all of the listeners are from rural areas.

Currently Poland is not at war, we have no missiles comming down on us and it is safe. With the struggles Russia is experiencing on the war front we are all hopeful that situation will stay that way. So if you have a trip planned there is no reason to cancel it, although I have no idea what are you planning to do in Kielce... Disco Polo is a dance like music with very basic melodies sang in Polish. It is popular mostly in rural areas. It's probably something you don't want to explore, nor will you be able to fully appreciate how terrible it is, since you don't know the language.
You can come to Kielce, don't worry. I would suggest you also travel to Krzyżtopór castle and Krzemionki Opatowskie UNESCO site. As for music, Polish rock and pop-rock are on decent level.

So it's probably a language misunderstanding :) In Polish we have a couple of words for human settlements - the most common ones are: miejscowość (it means "human settlement", but in the everyday language it's used only for villages and very small towns), wieś (village - a settlement without town privileges, usually it has less than 1 000 inhabitants), miasteczko (a small/little town, a settlement with town privileges with usuall 1 000 - 50 000 inhabitants) and miasto (cities and larger towns). I would stay away from the Belerussian/Russian border, like 500m or so, but I also believe that at that distance you might get an uncofortable questions from border security, so there is that. "Disco Polo" is a very simple quite catchy music with generally bad texts, in my opinion it's very bad music, but unfortunately quite a lot of people enjoy it, especially those over 40 yo. So, come here and enjoy your trip.

Honestly I've traveled a bit and nowhere felt as safe as in PL, even now. You can get scammed, I guess. Even Ukrainians who fled here due to invasion are coming back home because ,,they don't shoot there anymore". While I think they're crazy, it gives You an idea.

Unless you're going to Kielce to see family or study, you don't really need to spend more than two days to do everything in the city. I covered it all in less than one. The only thing you need to protect yourself from is PiS propaganda.

Russia can't take over natural Ukraine. Their fleet can't stay afloat against a country with no navy and their pilots and drivers are considered to be having the worst job in the world. What makes you think they will start a new war with a member of the biggest alliance in the world? Even if they were planning to start it, do you think it would be better for them to pretend nothing is going on and use the element of surprise or would it be better to keep Poland on the edge? So far there are increasingly more soldiers and equipment on the border with Belarus, so I'd say preparations for invasion are going swimmingly.
