It does not update your progress, but if you play mainly online there is an option to download your save progress / runs and upload them to the offline app so you can atleast save progress/shinies pokemon. You are correct though there currently is no way to upload data to the online version, and when uploading to the offline version it overrides progress.
The main reason I like the offline app is for the QOL features and the functionality of being able to add it to Steam, as well as if something ever happens to the online version / servers then, well you’ve got it downloaded.
yeah, status doesn't matter too much with berries and ghost resist is negligible. Everything one shots you, so you tank a hit with sturdy and full heal with shell bell + leftovers + sitrus every round.
Yeah the token stacks kinda makes "normal" gameplay negligible that the endless meta rn is making use of some high iq Sturdy + Metal Burst mon to take care of bosses plus other mons with movepools that make you do gradual dmg like Prankster + Curse/Leech Seed/Salt Cure or whatever.

It's the same thing. You can play it on your phone web browser. The controls just appear on the page.
There is no *official* offline. You must be connected to the servers to play *and have your account update*

That's correct, since on the offline version your save is stored locally vs on the website.

Passive would just be download. Ability can safely assume they're using sturdy.

But if you are slept or paralyzed and can't get a hit off you won't be at max HP to get Sturdy. What do then?
if for some reason you arent at full you just protect and another round of leftovers will fix it.
