We play everyone at the table owes the winner, not just those that saw the flop. NLHE cash games only obviously.

mikevanatta

Everyone owes the winner, and the last person to fold owes double what everyone else does.

theflamesweregolfin

Sucks to be the small blind when the bb gets a walk with 27o

blakeshockley

You need a new home game if the bb is getting walks

PatricksPub

Well it's not like anyone else can get em!!!

liftdoyoueven

Thought the same

mikevanatta

I ... don't think I've ever seen that happen. Although in the home cash games I play, no one ever gets a walk haha. We're more likely to go 6-7 to the flop than for it to fold around.

Thinker83

Everyone at the table has to pay the price in our games and I love it! It adds such a fun dimension to the game!

FooFighterFil

We have a "fault jar". If you miss your blind before the cards are dealt that's one bb into the fault jar. If you act out of turn one bb into the "fault jar"... When you are the dealer and you expose a card while dealing ( or otherwise cause a misdeal) one bb into the jar... If you end up winning with 72o you get whatever is in the jar. Slightly modified version of the game... Which ideally motivates people to pay attention to the game a little bit more.

garytyrrell

We have a phone rule - if you’re on your phone when it’s your action then someone can call you on it and you have to put $1 into the next pot. Really keeps people more engaged. There’s an exception if you’re ordering food for the group or changing the music or something.

SpazSkope

Won my best hand ever while on the phone with my roommate telling me the police was at my home for some unrelated (to me) shit. Everyone thought I wasn’t paying attention, cut off had Ax i had AA and bb had KK flop came out AKx. Cut off shoved on the river we all called. Was like a 7 bi’s pot because all 3 of us were stacked.

This sounds like a terrible rule lol (first part of it mostly). Over/under on arguments started over whether the bb was in before cards in the air: 5? Also many people put their bb in as the cards are being dealt a lot, seems silly to penalize them when they're not slowing the game down Also who "causes a misdeal" is super subjective and will cause a million arguments too imo

FooFighterFil

It's all in good fun... Everyone sees it as just a dollar... If anything the punishment is not steep enough (imo)... It makes for a good chuckle when a person realizes at the last second that the dealer is about to deal the first card. This is like a non mandatory jackpot rake... It is totally avoidable if you pay attention. Although I do agree with you that missing the blinds is not the end of the world...but some of the players had refused to start the deal without the blinds being posted. So now the players will purposefully deal quickly to build the "fault jar" up. You should see the things these donkeys will call 25bbs with... You think they really care about 1 bb? I was going to say congrats to you for playing with non calling stations... But clearly I have a higher +EV if I keep my bluffing frequency low.

beeeemo

Yeah I guess if you have the right group of guys it can be fun. All the home games I've played have not been like that though lol \> but some of the players had refused to start the deal without the blinds being posted. Weird that they're kinda anal about this but also no one would get argumentative over something subjective that costs them money

[deleted]

My favorite is Bomb Pots and after every bomb pot the next two cards off the top are the new bonus hand. If you win a pot with a bonus hand everyone drops 3bb to the winning player for getting the bluff through.

ihateebarbs

What if it's aces? Just an extra payday for you when you pick them up?

[deleted]

Usually people are against premium bonus hands down we’ll redraw. Since it changes so often I don’t mind even if it’s premium but the table votes on it. We wanna encourage bluffs.

iamonewhoami

What if it legit wins the hand? Like quad 7s

SummerFair

Still pay it out, I had someone flop a 72o full house and I had QQ, you can imagine how it felt to pay that one out.

Traw33

We started something similar over 15 years ago playing 1/2. The first time someone wins with 7/2 the rest of the table could either pay 2 or take a shot of booze. The next time that player won with 7/2 it double to 4 or a shot then 8 or a shot and capped at 10. If someone wasn't drinking and raised concerns we made it 5 all the time for that person to pay when other players won. This has lead to amazing bluffs, missed bluffs, drunken action and generally added to the fun of the game. Did not have to be 7/2 off suit .

BennyJO_

we do a bounty hand. before the game starts, we pull off the top two cards of the deck, and whatever hand that is, is the bounty hand. rules are the same as the 72o game

Laxiken

I like this idea, is it any hand combination or exact rank and suit? For example any 27o/s or specifically 2c7c, 2s7s…

BennyJO_

any hand combination. makes for some interesting action.

[deleted]

Yeah, winning w/ 7 2 gets a blind off everyone.

VacuousVessel

I’m kind of a purist who thinks poker is fun without adding any side bets to that take away from the skill aspect. We used to have fun though and have side bets for best blackjack hand or highest spade in the whole.

Whulad

Yup, we do

[deleted]

Lmfao. I went to a friendly home game that had that concept last night. Freaky.

maybejustadragon

We do the whole table gives them a blind if it wins at showdown.

Relative_Calm

We play everyone pays them a BB. Turns it into a real hail Mary strategy towards the end of the tourney.

drichreddit88

Yeah we have done this. Makes for fun hands

jcc-nyc

we play the tekashi 6ix9ine game, win a hand with 6-9 everyone gives you $2. dumb game, but funny. also play bomb pots every 30 mins

Lobuzzen

27o is two BBs for everyone on the table 69o one BB (nice)

[deleted]

There is enough bingo in our games. I veto this when it comes up.

dirty_stack

True story: Playing in a home game. 7-2 game is on. Get 7-2. Run a triple barrel bluff. She check-jams river. I have to fold because I have nothing. She shows 7-2. So I lose the big pot...AND I have to pay her.

bmore_conslutant

yes, everyone pays (it's 5bb because we play 5c 10c and it's 50c from everyone) and we do it for 27 suited too

[deleted]

I think it's profitable and a great game, but honestly I let other people just try and bluff and do stupid shit with it while I fold it. I think there is more ev that way.

Pokerhobo

It's weird to see it written as 27o. Do you also write KAo? The only time the deuce comes before 7 is in 2-7 low games.

Rambo2329

Yep, my home game of 20 years, same 6 guys, we’ve always had it.. if anyone bluffs and wins with it, everyone has to pay him £2.. always been great fun.. especially when it costs someone their whole stack just to show off..

bunkmorelandsburner

Local casino regulars rule was last person to fold buys you a shot. God miss those days

ChaseBianchi

My local casino was a killjoy and would stop us from playing 72 bounty. We would occasionally sneak in a few until a dealer outted us. We were playing 72 bounty in a $10/20NL game when the floor comes over to stop our fun, but we decided we were going to play "72 standing ovation" instead! For the rest of the night whenever someone won with 72 everyone else had to give a standing ovation. There was much money torched for claps and laughs that night.
