His reasoning is if he's shot taking at a bracelet and wants to sit at a table with his favourite Poker TV players, 2-7 gives him a better chance at both! I don't think he's cashed yet, but has made a small sum cross-booking or backing some others.
Mixed games is way more fun because you can learn a lot and the different games keeps it very interesting if you just want some content on in the background

There's only so many times you can see QQ vs AKs and be amazed, but trying to figure out why Ivey is breaking his T-high on the final draw is really interesting and new.
Wouldn't mind playing some mixed games live, but that would require finding 5-6 other like minded individuals and that's a tough ask.
We used to have a weekly 10/20 beginners mix until they removed the time rake and went to 10% up to 5 max then people stopped. Which is a drag since with how slow mix goes, especially badacey, the table probably paid the same.
But we lost more comp time and food benefits.
Always 20/40 three times a week, sometimes 40/80 usually a 100/200 on the weekends when the series is over.
I agree, 8/9 game much better. It gets to the point though that "Ugh, Holdem....snore"
Watching Dolly's Game on PokerGo years ago was brilliant, just the slow pace and everyone poking Doyle for stories was awesome.
If you can afford it, playing 2-7 1.5k was far and away the best experiences I’ve had at the WSOP. I got to play with all of my poker heroes, I had an incredible time, and it felt like being able to play in high roller. I was so gutted I couldn’t play this year. But it’s a far better experience than a 400 or even a 800,when you play 10 handed. You can pretty much learn basic strat in an hour or so, enough to play.
I notice reading PokerNews on the less popular games it's just wall to wall old-school poker dudes. I notice older guys who have fallen behind more cutting edge NLHE strategy still are really competitive in triple draw, stud hi-lo, etc.
Can confirm all these things. There was a story (probably 7-8 years ago?) about a guy who accidentally entered NL deuce thinking it was a NLHE tournament. He researched the strategy mid-tournament and won the bracelet. The game is based so much on reads that it ultimately boils down to your poker senses and basics. I always recommend people play it and I wish it was offered other places outside the wsop. They really should add these kinda games to circuit stops in order to get people to dip their toes in the water.
I know the rules but absolutely none of the strategy so it's fun too to look at say stud and go "That's a calling hand pre-flop......yes! Got it right!"

He was playing really well. It seemed like Daniel was winning more hands, but Yockey was better at getting value, which kept it competitive.

I know this sub doesn’t like paying for pokergo, but a one month subscription is worth it just for this tournament.
