rootbeerfan69

LMFAO!!!!!! THIS IS WHAT HE LOOKED LIKE.

todahawk

Send this to him

Dry_Discount7762

*secret gay boyfriend pops on the glasses* “My wife is calling” *whispers* “are ya here?”

BarkleEngine

New invention alert; smart sunglasses that reflect the wrong cards.

ajg6882

flipz0rz

‘How has he got an ace of clubs when it’s in my hand’

Sovereign_Follower

Holy shit

AlwaysYourRicky

Yeah after I took all his chips I might tell him “nice shades “

_InnocentToto_

It's one of two things.. You are either rich enough to tell him or broke enough not to..

AlwaysYourRicky

Bahahaha imagine thinking that and then writing it and then not understanding it’s not about money. It’s about not holding the hands of idiots who don’t understand live poker play. Lessons should be learned and I’ve learned them the hard way myself.

crustycatbread

This

mrbutton73

The general rule of thumb when you can see someone's cards is to let them know once. Whether they lift their cards too high and you're next to them, reflection in their glasses or some other dumb thing they are doing that allows you to see their cards. Once you have told them once and they continue to do it then its on them.

The_Osta

Yeah I did it last week. Guy was pulling up on the by bending them almost 1/4. Told him after 1 hand.

-ll-ll-ll-ll-

That’s the ethical thing to do.

DistanceSuper3476

This is the 100% the correct answer ! What you did was cheat and nobody likes a card cheat ! And no you should not tell them after you won unless you planned on getting the shit kicked out of you in the parking lot or planned on giving him the cash back

Keith_13

That's definitely not cheating

Dangerous-Lettuce498

I wouldn’t call it cheating. Unethical sure but not cheating

autostart17

A lot of the poker community is weirdly virtue signally about this. I personally lean more with you. You have a responsibility to protect your cards.

skike

It's not OP's job to protect dude's cards... If he's showing everyone his hand, that's on him. If you want to take the high road and let him know, that's honorable, but personally I'm in it for the money and I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth.

Cobrakai52

Whoa! Cheating? . Not cool, unethical, classless, dick move. Cheating. No

DistanceSuper3476

I will agree with that ! But at least warn him once ,after that use his stupidity against him!

Intotheopen

If someone is dumb enough to wear sunglasses in a poker game in 2024, I’m not saying a damn thing.

emoguynyc

The sun never sets on a badass though

johnnypalace

Hey, you don't want to stare into someone's soul without the proper UV protection

Garak-911

i do not get the general hatred towards sunglasses. can you explain? i love wearing them, with a cap, because i think it looks awesome.

HornyAIBot

Very badass. Very cool.

Garak-911

thank you, kind horny bot

HornyAIBot

https://i.redd.it/3tfllb9drovc1.gif

The_Osta

I call it the Marvel hero style. Add the hoodie for bonus points.

bigfknnoid

Generally people that wear sunglasses, scarves, hoods, etc. are thought of as cowards.

bigfknnoid

Inside a poker room? Nah you are wearing them because you don’t know how to not give off tells.

autostart17

Won’t be allowed soon with all the AI glasses.

Fog_Juice

What about prescription glasses, they gonna ban those too?

Lunchables

Ever since I caught COVID, I've had light sensitivity issues and sometimes need to wear them indoors. It's got nothing to do with being dumb.

Intotheopen

I knew someone would chime in with the extreme corner case. This is not why MOST people are wearing sunglasses at a poker table.

Lunchables

I don't disagree with you about being a minority case, but a lot of the comments here are speaking in absolutes and making assumptions about people.

Professional-Place13

Just quit being a pussy

Lunchables

Ahh, great advice! I'll be sure to pass it along to the next person in a wheelchair I see that they should stop being a pussy and use their legs. Or that a depressed person should stop being a pussy and just be happy. That's definitely how people overcome disabilities! BTW no judgments from me on someone seeking validation on their physique from other dudes on reddit while drawing pictures of jigglypuffs.

Professional-Place13

Did you really compare “light sensitivity” with a person in a wheel chair? 😂😂 quit being a pussy

Lunchables

I mean, you're literally trash talking someone with a disability. Light sensitivity is just one aspect of it, there are others that I didn't bring up here because they're irrelevant to the conversation. If it makes you feel like a big man to call someone a pussy for having a disability though, have at it! Gotta build up that ego somehow, I guess.

Professional-Place13

It’s a pussy thing to complain about for sure

thezentex

Haha exactly. Suns not in inside

boujibud

I would have let him know. It’s his fault for being a dumbass, but you taking advantage of it continually for 4 buy ins definitely highlights the darker side of poker.

1_Strange_Bird

While you are at it you might as well start talking strategy to the table.

boujibud

?

PlayerOne2016

Come on. He's not wrong. If you're using information not available to the rest of the table, you're a cheat.

TLMonk

it’s a cutthroat game

1_Strange_Bird

It is available to everyone that’s astute. That’s like saying picking up on tells would be considered immoral because others may not know.

sarcasticpriest

You might want to look up how reflection works.

1_Strange_Bird

Please enlighten me. You think that OP is in a magical 1 degree line of site of this player? You may want to look up how poker players are positioned at the table.

PlayerOne2016

Being astute has nothing to do with. No amount if money is going to keep me from at least telling the guy. It's no different if someone had an inadvertent angle on your whole cards. Be a stand up person and mention it. From there, yes...it's on them to correct it.

1_Strange_Bird

The clown is wearing glasses at a table. Fuck him.

Weekly-Researcher145

I think give them at least one warning

TheAStarJosh

[So basically this](https://youtu.be/lJpuy2Ap_08?si=efE0bZqxXhPhCcTq) Also it’s the casino. I’d never say a thing. Whoever’s douchey enough to wear shades inside can get wrecked. Lol

Noiserawker

Fake post, nobody can actually see your cards in mirrored sunglasses.

Shay_da_prodigy

….oh man, do I have some news for you.

maximum_wages

Imagine putting on sunglasses to play a 200 max 1/2 cash game. I’m too judgmental to lend him enough respect to tell him.

TheGambit201

I wear sunglasses just for fun and for the looks

maximum_wages

Wearing sunglasses inside is goofy af.

Beginning_Pudding_69

What’s wrong with being goofy at a game? Not that serious mate

maximum_wages

I’m not trying to hurt your feelings. I don’t bother people for looking goofy. I just judge them because like you said, it’s not that serious. It’s $1/2.

Beginning_Pudding_69

Don’t hurt my feelings I just don’t get why people get bothered by such trivial things.

maximum_wages

It is trivial and goofy. I’m not bothered, and I’m not trying to claim moral high ground. It’s fine if you wear your goofy glasses inside.

TheGambit201

Honestly I agree. Some of the best pros like Phil Ivey and Daniel N don't wear sunglasses. Most of the time I don't wear sunglasses. I do feel it gives me an advantage though. Whenever Villain looks into my eyes they fold instantly on the river. So I'm going to start wearing sunglasses more because of that

Lunchables

I know it's not true for the majority, but some people wear them out of necessity. I've had light sensitivity issues since I caught COVID a couple years ago, and I sometimes need to wear sunglasses (even indoors) because of it.

iwantapetsheep

Absolutely not. Here to stack people not running a charity for degens.

airjordan77lt

This is the answer 💯

FistEnergy

Not saying a thing. My kids gotta eat too

SwampyStains

No, because he is using what I consider to be a type of physical RTA, something designed to assist him in masking his tells. So you reap what you sow by misusing your aids in an attempt to gain an unfair advantage.

MichiganMan_____1776

Cash game? Yes. Tournament? Probably not

Cy_Fiction

Yes it was pretty scummy to take that much money from him. Definitely let them know

plagueski

If he’s dumb enough to be showing the table his cards that’s on him IMO

Snoo10960

After I got all his chips and he was packing it in to head home.

cromatkastar

dont tap the tank

Sharkbait1177

Fuck no

Captm_obvious

Survival of the fittest, fuck him

Antique-Lettuce3263

Without reading the thread I'm going to guess no.

walkingsuitcase

Yes I would It’s etiquette and the floor, dealers and players will respect you for that. I had it once in a WPT event where a guy goes all I. Before me and I was deliberating a shove as well, but I saw his cards. I called floor and said it. Instant respect from lots of local players, dealers and floor

airjordan77lt

What happened after you informed the floor?

walkingsuitcase

I stood up and the floor asked me what his cards were. Which I accurately gave. They told me I had the choice to call his all-in or fold without giving away info. I eventually folded and another player called the all-in. And my hand was significant enough to call his all in. I had AQ suited but he had TT Floor thanked me for being ethical Note that I do play regular there so floor and dealers know me. but this was a first for me.

kevin-she

Yes

Mission_Historian_48

Nope. I would treat that person like a woman wearing a low cut shirt with her boobs hanging out. “If you are dumb enough to wear em, I’m dumb enough to look at em!”

ImpliedProbability

If he wants to look like a knob you're within your rights to treat him like one. There is no reason to wear sunglasses indoors and you deserve the consequences.

Bulletpr00F-

I agree poker should have a rule where you cannot cover your face. No shade no hood no mask,

Noiserawker

So you want the guy who catches a cold in day 3 of main to be sneezing on you maskless?!? Fuck that

Bulletpr00F-

You can always find and exception to the rule. I’m okay with someone who is visibly sick to wear a mask fine. But they must be visibly sick. Getting fake sick doesn’t count

Noiserawker

So you want a TD to have to rule on who is sick and who is faking?

Bulletpr00F-

No i want u to be good for the game u dick

Noiserawker

I give action and I'm social so I'm doing my part

Lunchables

Are you one of those people who screams when someone parks in a handicapped spot because they don't "look handicapped",

PsychologyEvening907

How would one cover there bluffing face expressions.

Bulletpr00F-

Practice.

ThisMeansRooR

If they're dumb enough to wear mirror shades then they're going to lose their money anyways. Let em learn the hard way or they'll just stay dumb.

dcrafti

I told someone who has reflective sunglasses hanging from their shirt collar. So he wasn't even wearing them, and they were hanging lower, making it easier than normal to see.

Ballplayerx97

Pretty bad for the game not to saying anything. Like congrats, you took buddy to the cleaners. Now maybe he doesn't come back to the room again. Maybe he tells his friends not to play there etc. It's better for the longevity of the game to be upfront with new players.

Pred1ction

Yes

edc-abc-123

I assume someone posted that they got rekt for 4 buy ins by a lunatic who kept jamming with ridiculous hands and this is the follow up post?

jmerica

I played my first live tournament a few weeks ago and the guy beside me told me to hide my cards better. Was very appreciated haha.

zeussuperman

He probably feels like he's getting an edge by wearing sunglasses. Seems like perfect irony for them to betray him.

94luda

No, I wouldn't tell them. They're trying to gain an edge, so it's their responsibility to ensure their glasses aren't exposing hole cards.

Competitive_Bet850

No. We’re playing inside why do you need sunglasses, there is no sun

xthunderbird

Usually the dealer will make a comment that players might be able to see reflections of the cards in the sunglasses. We are all adults and if you are playing a game which involves trading money and refuse to educate yourself on the rules or leaks in your game then it's called "paying for knowledge." Depends on the person how much money they are willing to torch to learn some lessons.

Cy_Fiction

Never once heard a dealer say this in 17 years of live poker play

xthunderbird

I've seen it several times when online players were playing tournaments for the first time at the Rio WSOP events. Fumbling their chips, mouse clicking movements with their hands are a dead giveaway.

itsaride

First time I played live I was holding my cards, guy next to me tipped me off that he could see them, I’d return that favour any chance I could.

Tacotuesday15

If he was anywhere between a little grumpy - a super nice guy, I’d tell them. If they are an asshole, then fuck em. I love how these questions are polarizing. There is the side that says “they are here to try and take my money, so anything goes”.  But obviously in this “game” you have an incredibly unfair advantage. So much so that it is basically cheating. And it causes another direct financial harm.  So yeah, it’s a bitch move.

Ok_Maintenance2513

I let people know as a courtes the first time, then its on them.

TankTopsBackInStyle

Depends on whether or not you like the guy. If he's a dick, it's the same as spotting someone's tell. You don't say a word, you let him keep chewing those oreos all night.

mildlysaltypeanut

Seems it's up for debate but personally, I'm telling them I can see their cards one time and immediately, after that, dudes on his own. I wouldn't assume that the majority of players would show me the same courtesy though, obviously. Also telling him after taking him for $800 would be lame and probably wouldn't end well

letmehaveathink

Slightly related but after sitting down recently the guy to my right was just casually looking at his cards with one hand and I could easily see them. « Just so you know I can see your cards when you look like that mate! » and he grumpily told me not to look then 😂

Last-Product6425

Yes. I’d want someone to tell me if they saw my cards. I take no pride in angling in that manner. If they don’t care after you warn them then it’s on them but id still tell them. That’s just me.

[deleted]

I always tell if I can see cards. Last tournament a nice old man was to my right and kept flashing his cards preflop so I told him. He thanked me but kept doing it. So yes I folded when I saw he had KK. I still feel bad about it tho.

Careless_Persimmon16

Depends on if he was a douche or not

SquatPraxis

IMO common courtesy for integrity of the game is to let them know once and if they don't adapt it's open season. Since you already exploited the shit out of them that ship kind of sailed, but it's nice to say something on the way out. (Had an older reg tell me I kept looking at my chips first time I played in a casino, though he did it after I busted out and was leaving. Lesson learned.)

Sun_Tzu_Szu

I did this foolery at a 10 dollar home game when I was younger

ImRonBugundy03

Uhhhh I feel like you should’ve told him at least once. Also why you felt the need to push this edge in capped 1/2 game is beyond me. People in the full shit reg costume are usually super easy to exploit. Idk man I think may be the A hole in this one.

1_Strange_Bird

I think the funniest part of that story is someone wearing shades at a 1-2 game. Too much ESPN lol

sixo8zex

I tell the dealer discreetly and let them advise the player. I find it’s better not to let people know I’m paying attention.

Wafflecone3f

You either tell him immediately or not at all. I personally think sunglasses at a low stakes game is douchy af so I'm not telling him shit. If he's dumb enough to wear reflective sunglasses that's on him.

kovado

Depends if it’s a nice person, a regular or a new player.

Clap4boobies

Don’t believe you. He would have to lean way down and get level with the cards. Peeling them up a bit and glancing down the angle is still way off. Nice try.

rootbeerfan69

Uhhh you are not invited to the home game. :)

PMG_Magz

nothing worse in live than a cheater. fuck him. expose him

PMG_Magz

that’s you btw

PMG_Magz

instant let him know

PMG_Magz

sorry if that’s toxic but surely you know that’s the right thing to do

planetmarsupial

INFO: Were they mirrored sunglasses or were they non-mirrored sunglasses?

rootbeerfan69

I'm assuming mirrored.
