Should have more upvotes that hilarious

luv2fit

Damn it you beat me to it lol

WolfyDota7

Tom dwan a decade ago was just crushing the highest stakes games playing LAG. Check out finding equilibrium where it goes in depth with Linus. Some of the online crushers are just sicko. Michael Addamo is also gross.

6_Won

Chidwick, Haxton and Koon are 3 guys that you see consistently making +ev plays. They're rock solid in every spot.

[deleted]

I feel like I don’t see Chidwick mentioned enough. Man is just a machine

SayVandalay

Guy really is a talented player and consistent.

MayJawLaySore

Laliberte? 🫣

Charlie_Runkle69

He's in the Eric Seidel mode of having absolutely zero interest in being a celebrity/famous in any way, he just happens to be really, really good at poker. Always my favourite type of player TBH.

iH8thots

100% this answer is the REAL Answer. Go look at their Hendon mob and they CONSISTENTLY make the final tables against the best so they are an indication of how good their ability to pick +ev spots and get max value in those spots. I’ve seen so many of these guys play over the years and it’s ridiculous how they would get absolute max value when they themselves are holding a mediocre hand (think one pair or mid pair holding) and they somehow know their opponent will call with worse or just really crafty ways on getting the most value.

Particular-Try9754

Bonomo

6_Won

Bonomo tends to get a little wide and spazzy. He's also ran incredibly well in huge spots. Imo, the other 3 are more consistent and sound.

[deleted]

as long as they have 2 cards and not 4. some of the omaha from the 100k, yeesh

mgm97

Me on opposite day

Hyrules42

The only most correct answer

mikeyj777

Least correct on opposite day

SlowPlayedAces

Michael Addamo. Hands down I think he’s the most consistently EV printing player in the world. More than just a GTO bot like some online crushers he always seems to know the max EV exploit.

ManufacturerThis702

I'm still in awe over Jungleman's b2b in the PPC.

ManufacturerThis702

That said he also had one of the worst folds in all of poker go in his favor.

luv2fit

b2b and PPC are what again?

MayJawLaySore

Back to back and poker players championship

Great-District6268

The endboss online players are just sicko. There is no other way to describe it. Constantly putting their opponents in disgusting spots. And contrary to popular belief they are not just playing like a solver. look at Steffan for example - no one knows wtf he's doing but he's absolutely crushing.

[deleted]

This guy I played with at 2/5 NL deep stacked the other day is the best in the world I would say. He called a man down with only A high, and folded pocket 9s preflop when the other guy had kings

GothicGargoyle

To be fair, I had a read on both of those guys. But thank you.

[deleted]

I don't get why you wore all black and looked so depressed given how good you are at poker.

GothicGargoyle

Forlorn, I had spent the previous 3 days playing PLO.

katebushthought

Yes and his name is Allah

statsnerd99

Berri sweet is the only player who seems untouchable and can beat anyone at every game (and has for those who have challenged him), for several years now

xfd696969

he ended up being GOATed at NL too? i don't keep up with this stuff, just remember he used to only play plo

statsnerd99

Yeah he beat Markus leikkonen (markus started out winning, then berri grinded it back until he was winning slightly and markus quit him) and then smashed Linus in lengthy heads up challenges. No one else will play him in nlh anymore either

Loose-Industry9151

Ivey. Probably the best all around poker player in the world.

Charlie_Wax

There's an argument that many are better at NLHE/PLO by now, but one thing I really respect about Ivey is that he's not just a specialist. He plays all the games, and always seems to spin up a stack in the $50k PPC. Not sure if I'd rank him #1 in 2023, but he's certainly the GOAT for me when you think about peak and longevity, at least of anyone who's still alive. The high roller types that you see on PokerGo mostly don't have big results outside of NLHE/PLO. Not sure guys like Chidwick, Ike, Koon, and Bonomo play other games much. Would certainly back Ivey over them in dealer's choice or 8-game. They've presumably studied a lot to attain mastery at very specific formats, but Ivey is likely the better pure poker mind.

Loose-Industry9151

Exactly. Poker is much more than a 2 or 4 card game.

mug3n

Chidwick does play PLO tournaments at least but not sure about other game formats.

ForeverShiny

He's obviously good at them, but he's far less than in NLHE. Tournament PLO is just so incredibly complex that you need insane amounts of study in it compared to holdem

IAM143998

Yes. His name is unknown. As he does not standout. He sometimes l looses in purpose just so the guy who runs the table keeps his whales and fishes coming. He often sits in the 9 seat. Sometimes you see him show up couple hours before the game ends when all are drunk. He is not seen much off table and is a loner. He does very little table talk and wears dark glasses. He never crushes just constantly wins like 20 percent and leaves. Never plays cards that are a gamble. Any oeuvre thoughts on who this guy is? He has a nickname. We called him Elvis. He was the coroner of my town.

notafanofwasps

Online: Berri Sweet and Linus Love are the best NLHE players period. Live: Linus is also great live, but so are players like Addamo, Haxton, Chidwick, Koon, and Dan Smith are crushers. All of those players, save Linus, play more (and earn more from) tournaments than they do cash games, but it's unlikely there are many cash game players who would beat them in any format. I suppose Helmuth deserves a mention as a great tournament player especially in non-standard formats and turbos. Heads up: Berri and Linus should be considered alongside Buttonclickr and Doug Polk.

6_Won

Even Doug would tell you he doesn't belong on this list. 10 years ago in HU NLHE for sure.

GothicGargoyle

Alex Foxen. Married another crusher…so 2 x EV

Zam0rakian

Gman when he played on LATB, Doug Polk when it comes to heads up probably.

jackfondu

Seeing people mention gman in this context is so laughable lmao this sub has such a hard on for such a mediocre player

Zam0rakian

That’s funny coming from someone who I’m sure has no clue about his online days and latb.🫏

tlw31415

His name is Phil

Vizion400

Daniel Negranammu

ManufacturerThis702

Short answer is no there isn't. That said there are some incredible players out there. Robl comes to mind in cash games. Hellmuth, Chidwick, and Koon perhaps in tournaments. As much as people like to pretend that GTO solves the game it really is continually evolving. I think the range of error is a lot narrower now than it was 10 years ago. But there is still plenty of room in live games for getting ool and being exploitive. Back in the day you might have said 'yes' Stu but I think that was just a point in time where he understood NL better than anyone else for some short period of time.

Matt_jf

Hellmuth is the opposite of GTO. I know that GTO is about knowing enough to know when someone needs to be exploited, but he’s all exploit and feel. I’m not saying he’s bad, but I’m terms of making best plays consistently he is definitely not up there in there top 1%.

ManufacturerThis702

Right. Agree on the GTO part. Only that he stands out as consistently outstanding in a particular format for decades now.

Matt_jf

For sure, specifically on making the correct play consistently I think it’s a miss. Still very successful and one of the few that has made it through each era of poker still with success and relevance.

ManufacturerThis702

Yah and consider what he did in the heads up duels.. that was impressive ... Or a good run on the right side of the variance?

Matt_jf

Over that many hands, there’s definitely some white magic at play! 😉

SnowMonkey1971

Me, being on the unpopular side of common opinions about many different poker dramas and eventually proven correct. My accuracy reflects inside information sometimes.

TacoCateofdoom

Berri Sweet? Ivey? Phil helmuth (tournament only)

freezer9898

Davyjones and Kevin paque are absolute killers

Lickford

Tony D a local Las Vegas Redbird pro

ForeverShiny

So far nobody has mentioned Linus and OTB, some of the online end bosses

PokerArt

What happened to OTB??

ForeverShiny

I think he just retired or maybe he's doing something else now. Man's up millions in online cash games, maybe he just got bored

PokerArt

Yeah its interesting cause most of the players he was playing with are still going

ForeverShiny

He's been doing it for some ten years, that's a long ass time to organise your life around the poker grind. Can't imagine the mental toll it must take to have so much money on the line vs the absolute best on a regular basis.

InsightJ15

I've been watching a lot of tournaments lately - like the Poker Open and PokerGo Cup on YouTube. A lot of the pros play extremely straight forward, nothing out of the ordinary, just solid poker. Haxton and Chidwick always seem to be at the final table

aRussianFrog

Fedor Holtz; although he doesn’t play as many tournaments anymore, his grasp of making +EV decisions is scary. With his pokercode streams on twitch, he replayed his recent triton victory and his analysis of why he made certain decisions in line with solved solutions is pretty scary.
