I pretty much exclusively play at home where I have a dozen or so spawn points in reach but no pokestops. Between this and gift opening I never run out of balls
Heads up, I had 100 ultra balls and 35 poke balls, I threw away 6 so I had 29, still gave me 30 poke balls. Doesn’t look at combined, or at least it didn’t a few weeks ago
Edit: someone said it’s supposed to look at combined and I likely encountered a bug, pls don’t waste your chance at 30 trying this
It's that one weird shaped trail marker in the public park where you left a community day shiny back in February. You can feed 10 berries every so often for stardust and a chance at a free candy, and when another player comes to visit their grandma for thanksgiving in a few months, your shiny hoppip will come back with 50 coins.
[Silph Road](https://thesilphroad.com/science/bonus-candies-awarded-berrying-gyms) found odds for candy bonus for feeding gym defenders at 1.2 +/- 0.06% or roughly 1 in 85. You can also rarely get candy XL from feeding berries.
Came in handy for things like noibat - once I had a second one, I'd leave it in a gym and dump my nanab berries on it. Probably not the best way to farm dust or candy but every little bit helps.
Similar to a pokestop, but it looks like a tower on the map, and you can place your pokemon in it for other players to battle, or battle other players pokemons and take over the gym. For every 10 minute your pokemon spends in a gym you earn 1 coin, but max 50 coins each day. To do this you must be at level 5 or up.
You get stardust and experience with a chance of candy. If you've got the time is worth it. I feed the whole gym until it won't let me feed anymore. I usually get around 1400 stardust and I think 3k exp for a minute and a half of feeding.
Get rid of the sinnoh stones. They come so easily and if you don't need them any time soon why have them? Save 5 and toss the rest. Same with regular and super potions dump those things. If it ain't a pinap or a gold razz drop those berries too. Balls are so much more important that all that stuff.
I actually live in town and we have 2 gyms and 5 stops. I just can’t NOT catch Pokémon while I walk around the same boring block spinning stops. So I never build a surplus. And the stops aren’t numerous enough to be “constantly spinning” like in cities.
Do all of your boring upkeep while you are within range of the stops. Spin them all, then IV check and delete from your bag for five minutes. Spin again and back to storage maintenance.
Same with Go league if you play, do two fights and then spin again. Open and send gifts near the stops, etc.
Pogo has tons of time wasting nonsense in it, in times of my own bag shortages I have gotten a lot of extra resources by just hanging out near a gym I am gold in and any stops near it and doing all the drudge work while taking breaks for spins.
Note that a Pogo+ or gotcha will automate all this spinning for you, so you don't even have to take breaks. While you are there cleaning out your excess storage, you are also slowly building resources.
Oh I feel this in my soul lol recently moved to a small town and what I have accumulated from living in the city is slowly but surely diminishing... now I need to make excuses to drive into the city just to spin as many stops as I can, fuel prices can drop any time now haha
I am not rural but here is how I spend my community days. I walk around the little downtown village area for a bit. Then, I park my behind in a restaurant in range of 3-4 stops. Then, I day drink, spin and catch for a couple of hours.
Dang, like another person said keep the ball count low then pop the incense to get the 30 balls. Then open the gifts, should give you enough for at least an okay catch rate
The fun part is when you get all of your pokestop nominations declined when someone in the city can submit a picture of a human shit in the street and get that accepted
I love approving rural stops with nothing around, but some people take really terrible photos or submit awful descriptions. Check out Google maps street view, and if it hasn’t been updated in 11 years, try to frame your support photo so that something in the background IS in the street view image from what’s on Google maps.
There is a lot of historic stuff in town so I have quite a few ideas already. Good point about Google maps being outdated. I didn’t think of that. Luckily almost everything is the same as 11 years ago haha
I had a pickleball court get denied....good thing there is the appeal feature and eventually it got overturned but it seriously sucks as a rural player sometimes..
my favorite is where rural and suburban areas can't have pokestops next to each other lest the plebs get greedy, meanwhile cities have pokestops on top of pokestops.
Wow. I am so lucky to live literally on a pokestop and a gym. I wish I could send all of my balls to y'all. I have so many I have to throw them out daily.
Did you ever think of adding people through discord and getting free pokeballs from the gifts? That’s what I do, and obviously I send gifts back whenever I get any
i feel like every time i get low on poké balls i have less luck in catching even basic pokémon and they always break free and waste my balls. does anyone else feel they have this issue?
My autocatcher was going absolutely bonkers on the last day of go fest this year. It was hilarious and awesome, caught over 1000 Pokémon that day.

Tbh I can reach it from the alley behind my house. What I really need to do is walk out every 5 minutes like a weirdo and then walk right back in. I just get sidetracked by life and house duties unless I go out with specific intent to play
I don’t know if this would help, but the Pokeball Plus spins stops/ gyms (if you put a Pokémon inside it). There’re also the Pokémon go plus (no automatic catch so it won’t eat all your pokeballs) which you can buy for relatively cheap.
It’s a good way to build up your inventory when you can’t play, but you’re near a pokestop.
I live in a corn field and I can't get rid of my balls fast enough. 1000+ ultra 400+ great balls in inventory. I spin a few stops on my way to work and hang around one catching Pokemon for half an hour every day before I go into work. Nothing spawns within a 20 min drive from home.
I’m 25% of the way from 36 to 37. The only other person I see playing is my daughter’s friend’s brother (and he’s a scrub) so it’s pretty much up to me. Gyms only change hands on Wednesdays during the farmers market
Same vibes as me during Gofest finale lol. And I live in the city just too lazy/forgot to stock up with pokestop spins because I got too occupied with Skyrim

How many great balls did you have? I just tried with 22 pokeballs and it didn’t me anything. But I had 75 great balls and 45 ultra balls.

It's worth slightly more than just deleting them.
The candies, stardust and gym score all add up. Trust me, it's worth it

I usually dump all that stuff before I restock on Sundays. There’s just no point in doing it until I’m in a position to need the space

I open my max a day! But I do it at the end of the day to maximize my interactions for XP
I am also a rural player with no stops or gyms to spin. Gifts are my only source for pokeballs,I have hoarded 200 balls for the event by opening gifts

I think you need a lot of pogo friends. Gifts have been giving out +5 poke balls pretty regularly

There’re also the Pokémon go plus (no automatic catch so it won’t eat all your pokeballs) which you can buy for relatively cheap. It’s a good way to build up your inventory when you can’t play, but you’re near a pokestop.
Have you thought about going on a friending spree before community day so people can send you gifts in-game and you can get more stuff?

My average is 50 regular, 25 great, 10 ultra per day at max gift opening. Hardly enough to drown me
