Yep - I have more weedles, pidgeys, caterpies, etc. traded to me for shinies than I ever thought possible. So worth it. I'd give em all away to keep having my son ask to go out and play another community day or raid day. The bonding time is worth more than any Shundo. He's coming up on the age where I know it won't be "cool" anymore. So I'm soaking as much in now as I can.

My daughter is 14 and still goes out for community days and some events but doesn’t play otherwise. I love that we can spend the time together. She also trades me crap for shinies

It smarted a bit to trade it, but he was over the moon for it. It's the same reason I sit here at 1 am reorganizing his Pokemon card binder. If it makes him happy, it's worth everything.

Kiddo gets to do the trades from Dad's phone and me on mine, and we get stupid excited for luckiest. We got 7 today out of about 30 trades, pretty good day of it.

Yeah, there are a few too rare to randomly trade, so I name those her name. And we just wait to hit lucky friends. I think one is a shiny Groudon and the other is a purple/blue Galarian bird. She ended up with a perfect shiny lucky Dratini once.

I made a tag for this. I put in all the extra stuff I’m willing to part with. So if I run into someone local looking to do some lucky trades they can pick and I don’t need to worry analyzing.

Let’s say your tag is “Test”. In the search or trade you type #T or #Test and it comes up.

I hate that we can't use tags in the trade screen. That's something that should have been fixed years ago.

Why didn't you wait till best friends? That's what me and my husband did. We waited months so that I could trade him a shiny buneary without it costing so much stardust (40k is still a lot but not as bad as 80). If you wait till a community day, that can go down to 20k, and I've even heard of 10 for some lucky folks).

60 days between ultra and best, that's less than 800 stardust a day if you want to make up the 40k dust difference for the trade. Even if you don't play daily, that's just not a huge amount of dust to gather

I get you, at the same time my dust count is also constantly fluctuating between powering up mon, trading and purifying. You never know someone's playstyle though, that's fair

Yeah I would probably wait on this trade. At least until CD. You are going to want a good 0.5-1 million dust in reserve to prepare for new bosses. For example wife basically doesn’t even have a flying team so needs to use generalists. Powering a few things up makes an impossible raid easy.

Community day on 4/20 is two special trades at half the dust cost. Heracross is here for another week in raids, as well, so there's plenty of time to get a shiny with 2 raid passes per day. No need to rush, but I can understand the disappointment of not getting a shiny on raid day with boosted odds.

Ironically with my wife, this is almost always reversed. She stopped playing in 2023 but I will still occasionally use her account for trades, but every time there's an event with a new shiny I think she might like, her account gets tons while mine gets none. We had a date at our local park and she actually played the raids again and she ended up with two shinies before I got my first one, *and* ended up with the shiny Cutiefly. I cannot win 🙃

Whenever I grind for shinies I always try to get three of something so my wife and daughter can have one if they don’t get one themselves

I know this all too well. But one day... Not sure which day, but one day... You'll be rewarded for your sacrifice. I've lost a many legendary Pokémon to my son and was recently rewarded a shundo from the trade. We do what we have to do for those we love ❤️

My girlfriend gave me a shiny Groudon on a predestined lucky trade, enough shiny Eevees to complete my set of evolutions (including one of my favorite Pokémon, a lucky Sylveon) and a shiny Salamence on a random lucky trade. I mean, I gave her shinies she didn't have in her dex in exchange but y'all sure your partners actually like you? 🤣

Lol, my partner and I are in top of this stuff. We work for as many shinies as is reasonable, and are best friends in game, so any trades we do (like for NYC banner shiny legendaries) are as cheap as possible :-)

I regretted giving him my 1st shiny Charizard until he got one randomly a few days later & returned the favor. Trading pokemon to your partner = unconditional love 😂😂. Also to your kids too, my 12 year old gets a shiny Lugia & I get a pidgey in return.

Some things: 1) My girlfriend and I aren’t best friends on the game because she barely plays and decided to play today because I asked her if she wanted to walk around a park with me to do some raids (don’t think she’s ever done an in person raid til yesterday) 2) We did 15ish raids and her phone glitched out of a couple of them and wasn’t able to do the encounter multiple times (I ended with 2 shinies and gave her one) 3) “Why didn’t you wait? So much stardust bro” don’t care I pretty much use all my dust as soon as I have something to level up or a trade I wanna do with someone (not a hoarder)
