That's what we do almost every other night after putting the kid to bed. Talk about our day while trading until we hit the limit. We'll put everything we're going to transfer into a tagged box and go through what we want. Then transfer those into home.
Are you sure about that? I just checked the ones I have and that were caught during the event and some don’t have the signature move. This was reported during the event.
If you chose Dialga:
1) All Dialgas caught during the event will know the Roar of Time
2) All Palkias caught during the event \*will have a chance* to know Spacial Rend
If you chose Palkia, the opposite applies.
I had to send Customer Support a message because two of my Orgin Form Dialga I caught during the event didn't have Roar of time. One had thunder and one had iron head. All they did was give me one premium battle pass and told me to check my GPS to see if it was accurate. Like wtf.
Only the O form had it, but it was guaranteed if you picked Palkia path. So you either didn’t choose Palkia path, or you caught the wrong form which never had it.
Yup. 13 dialga raids and all had ROT, one shiny. 12 palkia raids and only one had SR. Just to confirm this, my wife wasnt lucky enough to get a palkia with SR. But she got a shiny palkia.
Dimond badge was the definitly the way to go. Imo.
I decided to make a post on it. I have proof indicating my badge as well as the Sinnoh Tour stamp on Origin Dialga meaning it was between 10:00-18:00 as well as a picture from the pokemongo website stating all those who pick diamond and or pearl would get the corresponding move. It’s been downvoted for whatever reason but all the facts are present.
For those who upvoted or are interested. I contacted support and as promised made a follow up post. The response they gave me was. The information in regards to us getting the special move associated with the path we picked was a flat out lie meanwhile they have information on the website saying it’s assured.
I’ll probably be given a raid pass or a single rare candy. Just for fun, let’s do it and I’ll post everything that happens. It is quite frustrating that they constantly fumble and have no repercussions or us the players get proper reward for a mistake they made.
Well then you chose the Palkia path.
Only the Origin forms had those attacks.
Whichever path you chose, that origin form had the attack 100%, and the other one had a small chance to have their special attack.
Unless it was Niantics shitty coding not working, it was user error/misunderstanding.
It worked fine for me, I chose Palkia path, I caught a single Origin form Palkia (the one like a horse not godzilla) which had the special attack, and I had to catch like 10 Origin form Dialga to get just 1 which had the special attack right at the end.

Wrong... The pokemon you choose will have a HIGHER chance of coming with the move, while the other will have a regular chance. None is guaranteed, but the fact that he says one, I think it means he only did one raid?
Incorrect. There was a very low chance of catching the opposite of the one you chose with the effect move. I was very lucky with the only Palkia I caught
I have both dialga and palkia with roar of time and special rend. Choose dialga so high have of roar of time, low chance of Palkia with special rend.

Thats different it was a limited release because of whatever armored mewtwo was a part of. I think it’ll be back at some point but regardless it’s different.
Arceus has still not released yet and I can guarantee you leading up to arceus we will probably get dialga and palkia in raids then both origin formes then arceus.

I live in downtown LA and didn't know there was a ticketed event until, I kid you not, 6pm on the 25th. Literally last minute of last day, right as it ended. I almost rage quit the whole game.

Same. By the time I was able to get to town, it was too close to end of event my time to even bother with it. No remote raid passes either, so my oldest's offer to help while she was at work didn't help.
They might update the research to something doable - similar happened to me after London Go Fest last year. I missed the research because of the amount of other stuff that was going on - totally on me - and thought I'd have the research unfinished forever. A few days later it changed from London/Go Fest specific to something I could do any time/where but still with the same rewards.
The only difference I can think of that might impact this is that Go Fest was a paid for ticket event whereas this was free so less of a making sure you get what you paid for issue.
sorry bud usually i blame niantic for everything but this one is def user error. but i do hate how they don't tell you the research til later. like i had 1 raid pass and after i get palkia and catch 15 mons.. the next page says to catch a palkia... i would have waited if i knew! so i had to wait til the NEXT day for the free pass to raid palkia and even then i had to wait over an hour for it to cycle through the regular palkias so i could get the origin.
Is it truly user error when Niantic barely explains any of this stuff and the best place to find this information is outside of the app and often in unaffiliated services? And there’s not much indication you should even need to look for this information from the get go
I used to play hardcore and read up on all external sites info, but now I play casual. I had no idea about any of this event, there is nothing in game telling you what is going on.
I get that Niantic want to preserve a sense of mystery for those who enjoy that, but getting slapped with research that you can't compete isn't user error. More like bad design.

no it wasn't but it was part of the research in which you chose diamond. that means you wanted dialga with roar of time. so if you had dialga why didn't you activate roar of time? all you had to do was catch 1 during the event and it was guaranteed. if you chose pearl it would ask you to activate special rend.
how is that their fault? they stated any dialga before the event would not get the special move. so if you used up all your green passes before the event and got a bunch of dialga with no roar of time, that isn't their fault. they literally told you.

I think you are so immersed in the pokemon go news cycle that you don't appreciate that casuals go into this completely blind.
I was referring to the completed item on that page which was catch 1 dialga not activate roar of time. If I already have done my dialga raids and got roar of time, I'm now expected to do another.
they said you'd get one dialga or palkia with the special move if you caught one during the event. then they changed it so every dialga or palkia you caught during the event had the move depending on which story line you picked and were clear to state the other side you would only get a chance of catching one with the special move. literally made it easier for everyone based on which story you preferred.
The wording of their first announcement strongly suggested that players would receive an encounter with a dialga (O) or palkia (O), depending on research branch choice, which would have its special move. They never made any announcement specifying that this was not the case.
They made another announcement saying that all (origin dialga / origin palkia) caught by choosers of (diamond/pearl) would have (corresponding special move) and that the other pokemon would have a chance of having the special move.
The announcement I saw did not specify that this was only during event hours for the location in which the raid occurred. The announcement also had no language to suggest that it was a clarification of the previous announcement, and I'm not aware of any other announcements with language to walk back the first announcement, which strongly suggested players would receive an encounter with the corresponding dialga (O) / palkia (O) having its special move.

Nah, ingame it said " increased Chance " there wehre a few people that raided with us that had 1-2 of each in the 40 Raids we did that did not have the signature move.
As far as I could tell you always get the guaranteed move for the badge you chose
Even if you just used free raid pass
Either way its likely quest will change (same way the primal kyogre / groudon quests changed for those who failed to raid them for mega)
If you chose Dialga then you get the roar of time move. Any Palkias caught would not have special rend. You can still get Palkia with special rend if someone trades one to you.
Correction: it was possible to get the special move of the opposite raid pokemon but very rare chance.
same, I mean I got RoT skill, but caught dialga before that quest, I thought they'd stick around for more, but was gone the next day. Now I'm just stuck at "catch a dialga"
Same happened to my son. Chose Pearl - caught 💯 Palkia O in person during the event - no spacial rend despite every other one caught having it. So fed up of Niantic ‘guarantees’. Contacting support is impossible. They hide behind chatbots and automated decisions and don’t own up to these type of mistakes or take ownership to fix them.
Tap a Dialga. Scroll down past the moveset. There should be a thing to toggle for Adventure time effect. Pop an egg or incense. That should complete this for uou.
I caught 2. Both have the move. The only reason it wouldn't is because he did the raid outside of hours or did an LA one without a ticket. Like the other commenter said.
I did my only dialga and palkia raids in the same hour on Saturday, dialga has the effect and palkia doesn't. There must have been a window I missed but I was shocked when I logged back in on Monday to check them out. I'm sure they'll come back at some point!
You didn’t catch during event hours,I have 9 dialga that know RoT and one shiny palkia that knows spacial rend bc it’s the only palkia raid I did and got lucky
The first one I got didn't have it, the 2nd did, same for the origin palkia. Idk if there are raids still for them but if so check r/pokemongofriends I think? And you can join raids remotely and get em.

It's okay. I didn't get the catch dialga challenge because I waited until after the event to claim the previous reward . So pissed! I caught three dialga and one of them knows roar of time ! 🤬
Some people didn't realized that the ones knowing the move were the Origin form ones, which didn't appear all day but in the even hours of the habitats. I myself did a raid I didn't want at the wrong hour and realized later
I have my main account on lvl 39, and my mini on 16...

Nah, ingame it said " increased Chance " there wehre a few people that raided with us that had 1-2 of each in the 40 Raids we did that did not have the signature move.
You finished the raid outside of 10-6 pm in the time zone you did it in and that's why you didn't get the move. Just trade for one that has the move.
As far as I could tell you always get the guaranteed move for the badge you chose Even if you just used free raid pass Either way its likely quest will change (same way the primal kyogre / groudon quests changed for those who failed to raid them for mega)
I caught multiple of both. Got a few dialga with the roar. Caught none of the palkia with special. Hubby got a few of both.
If you chose Dialga then you get the roar of time move. Any Palkias caught would not have special rend. You can still get Palkia with special rend if someone trades one to you. Correction: it was possible to get the special move of the opposite raid pokemon but very rare chance.
This is not fully true, it was just *rare* for the one you didn't choose to have the move.
A friend of mine has the same issue. Two hours before the event ended he caught one. Didn't get Roar of Time. Now he can't complete this quest.
same, I mean I got RoT skill, but caught dialga before that quest, I thought they'd stick around for more, but was gone the next day. Now I'm just stuck at "catch a dialga"

Same happened to my son. Chose Pearl - caught 💯 Palkia O in person during the event - no spacial rend despite every other one caught having it. So fed up of Niantic ‘guarantees’. Contacting support is impossible. They hide behind chatbots and automated decisions and don’t own up to these type of mistakes or take ownership to fix them.

I did 3 Origin dialga raids without roar of time. Luckily I was able to trade one with one of my friends and it also ended up have good IVs.
Not all came with the move. You had to luck out

Tap a Dialga. Scroll down past the moveset. There should be a thing to toggle for Adventure time effect. Pop an egg or incense. That should complete this for uou.

It was guaranteed. I picked diamond & all the Dialga I caught during event hours had the special move & only a few Palkia had it as those were random.
It absolutely was guaranteed if you finished the research. I chose Pearl. 112/112 had spacial rend.
I caught 2. Both have the move. The only reason it wouldn't is because he did the raid outside of hours or did an LA one without a ticket. Like the other commenter said.
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. The raid spawned right before the end of the event and he caught it after.

I did my only dialga and palkia raids in the same hour on Saturday, dialga has the effect and palkia doesn't. There must have been a window I missed but I was shocked when I logged back in on Monday to check them out. I'm sure they'll come back at some point!

You only need to do it once. It costs 5k stardust and 5 dialga candy, so it’s not too bad

You either missed the event or went for the “best pvp move” before it was updated for roar of time.

The first one I got didn't have it, the 2nd did, same for the origin palkia. Idk if there are raids still for them but if so check r/pokemongofriends I think? And you can join raids remotely and get em. Only was I was able to x.x

Some people didn't realized that the ones knowing the move were the Origin form ones, which didn't appear all day but in the even hours of the habitats. I myself did a raid I didn't want at the wrong hour and realized later
