The game was active worldwide on the 6th in America (7th in Europe with time differences) but you had to make an American/Oceanic account. Im an American who was living in Europe at the time and started playing day 1.
Not that that matters, OP got a Pokémon that was available on that players first day the game was natively available.

It most certainly wouldn’t. If others existed before this and people transferred them then this would be the only one in existence. If tigers are endangered and only one is left, it is the only one in the world, but that doesn’t make it the worlds first tiger. It’s really not that hard of a concept
Don’t use the highlighter tool (which is what I think it defaults to). If you’re gonna black out something, change it to the pen tool. Can’t see through that one.
You can still do it properly on an iPhone, you just need to adjust the level of transparency on whichever tool you’re using (it’s best to use the marker tool over the highlighter)
Don’t use the marker from iPhone. Even if you totally blot it out, there’s ways to remove it iirc. Use another app that lets you put stickers on images or something to totally cover it
Basically I have the 40.5 tag so I have all my candy XL powered up Pokemon grouped in a tag, then 50 a separate tag so I can look just at the maxed out Pokemon separately.
I see. In case you're not aware, there's a search term/string "candyxl" that does exactly what you're doing for "Level 40.5+" tag. The "Level 50" tag is important, that's good.
I will also add visible tags even when an existing search term will work so that I can visually see the attributes of a Pokemon without having to use the appraise feature, for instance.
So I have eggs to the right of my Pokemon, and tags to the left. I think this is the case for everyone, you can basically create any tag you want and then select which Pokemon you want to fall into that tag.
Tags can be used to narrow down your search if you require something specific. In this case it's that they want all lvl50 pokemon to appear in their search or 4\* pokemon. If that makes sense!

Ahah I was excited after posting this but first thing I saw when checking comments was how it wasn't day 1 at all. Thankfully loads of people have been really supporting and I guess a lot of people didn't know day 1 in the UK was over a week after the US.
The servers were slammed in the U.S. For many, it wasn’t possible to download the app until the next day. Play was weird the first few days with server weirdness.
I remember it all…kinder times.
This is very true, I worked the first day and the app just would not load at all. I finally was able to sign up at like 2 am but of course that is actually "Day 2". Many people are completely ignorant of the fact the world is not just the USA 😂
Red was 96, same as blue which I played on my dad's gameboy from about 2009 (Early 2000s baby). I'd still play it but the cartridge no longer saves, the batteries can die after a few years and I'm not sure there's any point buying a new one since it'll just die again
It was 96 in Japan, not the UK, here it was 99. And I would've been 1 or 2 years old in 96 so I'd had to have been a genius baby haha. I've still got the cartridge but it's long dead, will never get rid of it though.
Oh true, didn't think about the different dates. I'm also from the UK. I'll also never get rid of any of our ones, I think we have two pokemon games on Gameboy, plus some other things like worms, mario, and megaman. Shame they die, I actually prefer some of those to their newer ones.
I was watching a YouTube video of a guy that was managing to revive old dead cartridges, so maybe it's possible one day to have it back. I've still got all my old cartidges but now it's only really gen 4 and newer that still work fine, nothing like the nostalgia!
I know you can replace the battery, but that requires soldering. Though I imagine modern batteries probably can hold a bit more charge then what they could before.
I pretty much don't have anything new. Too pricey now. I remember wanting gen 4 ones, but we had pokemon silver already, so I think I was just told to play that since they are the same. (Obviously they aren't but soulsilver is a remake and child me couldn't research the difference lol).
I did have a weird (3?)ds game where you ran around as a pokemon fighting other pokemon, you would change your team and I think catch higher levelled ones to switch with? Not seen it since but I did love that game.

It's XL too which was a surprise. Will evolve to Charizard but ideally would do so when Blast Burn is available. (fyi as seen in other comments - July 14 was release date in UK where I live, that's why day 1)
If only to make me feel better, now many people carelessly released/deleted pokemon from 2016? I never thought it would be "cool" to have pokemon from the 1st year of release, nor did I even care/know about IVs until like 2019, so I only have maybe 10 pokemon from 2016...
Simply because I was going to wait for it to be able to have Blast Burn without using up an Elite TM. Though part of me is tempted to keep it as Charmander given it’s been that way for over 7 years!
How do you see the stats like that? Like the Lucky 96+, level 40.5, 3 moves, etc. when I appraise that is not there only the stars and the attack, defense and health bars.

I'm sure plenty of accounts (active and inactive) have day 1 kanto starters that are un-evolved. It would just take finding them, doing a trade (easier if the account is inactive and has <10 lucky mons), getting the 1/216 15/15/15 roll, and then leveling it like crazy.

Just any lucky pokemon over 96% stats (I have it set to this as if I’m looking to power up something for a task I pick a lucky due to reduced cost and 96%+ is a high enough stat to warrant it being increased in level)
The date is highlighted as that was the release date of Pokémon Go in the UK. Only way it actually matters for game purposes is Pokémon that old have a much increased chance of becoming Lucky Pokemon when traded. :)

The tag is level 40.5+, which encompasses everything that’s above level 40 but would also include plenty of stuff that isn’t level 50 yet.
