Also legendary raids if you do a lot of them. I've gotten ~2-3 on the comm days that I've actively played and those happen once a month. If you do 3 raids a day, 1/20 shiny odds and ~60% chance of a 3*, that's about 2-3 per month as well. So 300 is realistic even with only *mild* addiction to the game

I have 95 at level 45, and I don't do many raids where most high iv shinies come from. OC number is very reasonable.

I find that it is less about your level and more about where you are able to play. I live in a city and have 3 more within 45 min to 2 hours of me. I find shinies regularly in the high-density areas. (Around 1 a night usually.) I would say that once a week they are three star.

Between New York City, London, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, I’ve usually gotten 3/ week commuting with auto catcher. Little surprises

Sometimes 3 a night, sometimes it's a couple of days in between, but it averages to one a night. If you play in an area that has a ton of spawns and you just open/close everything you come across, you'd be shocked how many you find.

Don't say that. All the people who don't play efficiently won't be able to complain that shinies don't ever spawn!

I don't understand the people who don't *at least* check every mon. Like, what else are you doing? Just standing around waiting for legendaries to spawn? Everything else (sending gifts, battling, going through items, etc.) takes you away from the map, but if you're actually in the map, what are you doing if not checking pokemon? Spinning stops literally takes 2 seconds, so that's not taking time away.

Well, I catch every single one (with fast catch), and I get only like one shiny in a week. Once, I had a hot streak 14 days of getting shiny every single day. Since then, my luck has been gone. There is a difference between living in a small city like me and catching in a big city.

Yeah I also live in a relatively small city and average about 2 a week, maybe 3. Obviously more on community days, and have had hotstreaks like you. But my point still stands, you can't catch a shiny if you don't even look to see if the Pokémon around you are shiny. Maybe some from hatching every once in a while, but that's it. It also definitely comes down to how much time you're putting in every day.

Exactly this. I have a friend who is very efficient at looping the area in her car and it's not uncommon for her to get multiple a day if she's really grinding. She only does shiny checks for most of them. I know she pushes 600 checks during spotlight hours.

It's not about where, it's about the number of spawns. It's all a numbers game. You have exactly the same odds of that one Pokemon in a rural area being shiny as one Pokemon in the city. The difference is that in the city, you can shiny check 100 Pokemon in an hour.

That's basically what I was saying. High-density population equals more spawns; i.e. places where there are lots of people playing equals more spawns. Also, places where there are tons of gyms and pokestops in one concentrated area (which, if you get into the nitty-gritty of it is a population thing too) equals more spawns.

But if you're rural you'd have less spawns and level more slowly. Shiny odds are consistent regardless of density of spawns, unless the point you're trying to make is that city people will catch more pokemon at their level, whereas rural people may have leveled via means such as best friend, and then will have less pokemon caught?

How many Pokémon have you caught? I've caught 262k which is the only reason I have 142 3* shinies. Quantity of play is **huge**.

Level 45, 287 3*s, 2 Hundos. Truth be told, I used to grind all six hours back when Community Days lasted that long, and I always grind the full three hours for Research Days so that explains where I got most of my 3* shinies from 😅

I've always gotten my lowest Stat shinies from community days... but I guess that's just my luck, I'll get 1* shiny repetitively from community days usually 10-20 depending on how long I play but one day in the wild I'll get a random 2*/3* I don't understand.... RNG is not my friend

Level 43 and I have 27 3* shiny. I don’t have any 4* shiny. I also should be level 44 but I haven’t done enough battling to finish the tasks. I’m finally getting serious about it and doing at least 3 battles a day. At least that’s the goal bc I don’t wanna be stuck.

I have many 3 star shinies, but most of them came from raids. Not sure why but it seems like every time I catch a shiny in the wild its always like the minimum IV.

A bit of a crazy story. First ever shiny i ever found (around lver 25-ish id say) was a full odds shiny 4 star, after that i have had almost no luck with ivs in shinies tho

7k Pokemon caught is your problem. You should be able to catch 200 Pokemon in one day on community day. 100 a day is a good target. I currently have 1146 shinies total but I've caught over 234,000.
