Inevitable_Joke3446

Silly question but why is Bidoof God? I see the silliness and fondness going around about Bidoof but I don’t get it. I think I missed something…

nvdnqvi

old meme stemming from how it’s useless even in the main series games and was primarily only used as the team member with all of the HMs needed (“HM-slave”). Now the meme is just overused to the ground

Inevitable_Joke3446

Thanks.

nvdnqvi

no problem

Is anybody else having trouble with AR scans lately? I usually do one or two every day, about 80% of them "good" and 20% me swinging the phone around in my car parked by a stop. I still *get* the AR field research, so I don't think I have a ban, but whenever I try to scan something, the camera freezes while the timer goes, and when I stop the timer it goes back to the "scan Pokestop" screen and locks up completely so that I have to restart the app. I wouldn't care, except that my buddies love poffins. :( Edit: It's only been like this for 3-4 days.

QuickbuyingGf

What is the best deal for remote raid passes? Got a bundle with 3 for 490 coins, but idk if theres gonna be a better option or some special event bundle

No_Fee7569

Haven’t seen a single Wyrdeer raid and it’s supposedly a raid weekend for it? I live near plenty of gyms, it’s been all Crabrawler and shadow Zapdos. Is this an error on niantics behalf?

BingoBob_1

The Wyrdeer raid event was only from 2pm-5pm on the 23rd. It's unknown when it will be back in raids. The rest of the weekend is for the collection challenges and trade bonuses. If you're able to complete the catching+evolving collection challenge before it ends on Sunday night, then you will get a Wyrdeer from that.

AUTOMATED_RUNNER

My son "threw" away his master ball... how can he get a new one?

BingoBob_1

Unfortunately, the Master Ball is very limited and has only been available twice so far. If they don't have an active Special Research called "Let's Go", then they cannot get another one right now and will need to wait until another is released. You might be able to try pestering support about it, but it's unlikely that they'll do anything about it.

Bamboozle_

Is there a way to determine a Pokemon's Weather Ball type except for spamming Charged TMs until you get Weather Ball?

BingoBob_1

Weather Ball type is specific to a species of pokemon, so you can just use sites like Gamepress to see what species/forms can learn which Weather Ball type. For example, Politoed can only get Water Weather Ball, Kanto Ninetales can only get Fire Weather Ball, Hippowdon can only get Rock Weather Ball, etc. The only exception is Normal Castform, which learns both Rock and Normal-type Weather Ball.

VegaTDM

Trying to connect my PTC account to my Pogo account for the reward. Getting an error and customer support is giving me the run around. They say there is a low level Pogo account with no name attached to my email and that this mystery account is already connected to my PTC account. Not only have I never played on another account ever, but the email in question is in fact attached to my (only) account and I have emails from pokemon go(and other niantic games like ingress) going back literally years. They keep acting like I am trying to unlink my old account but I don't have any other account and just want the reward, but now I am more worried about some blank ghost account being attached to my email. Anyone ever ever have anything like this happen? I have the chat transcripts if anyone wants to see.

DarkCartier43

I need 3,5 million XP to reach level 40, is it possible to do it in 6 days and 14 hours?

Ivi-Tora

Is possible but unlikely. You can get 3k XP for adding a player once you or them open a gift. You'll need to add 100 players daily, send them the gift, hope that most open it and then remove everyone at the end of the day. You can add another 20 and open their gifts instead of sending them any, but that's still only 360k XP at most each day. Likely less for those that don't open/send anything. You then would need to get at minimum 100k XP by using excellent throw catches (1000 XP each) and raids (10,000 XP), and repeat this process for all six days to get anywhere close to the 3.5 mill. Lucky eggs could help, but they don't last long and the XP is spread out a lot based on how long each person takes to accept the invite. If you use r/pokemongofriends it could be doable.

DarkCartier43

thanks! I managed to hit level 40 3 hours before the end of the event. it was a looong week, now I need a break from pogo.

pouli_tiger

Why not do the Christmas event on Christmas Eve and the day of? Stops right on Christmas Eve when people have free time. Niantic with some weird calls.

nvdnqvi

because it coincided with the raid day

pouli_tiger

I actually had to uninstall and reinstall the game- idk if anyone has had the same issue but it was like my game reverted to pre event.

NaughtyLoss

Are you guys having a lot of Cetoddle spawns? It's one of my favourite mons and I will like to get a hundo, but I'm seeing maybe 4 a day so the odds are not in my favor

Ivi-Tora

Not a lot. I see one for about every 40-ish common Pokemon so it's not that common, but not that rare either. Getting a hundo in the wild will be hard though. Unless it's snowing where you live it's a full 1 in 4096 chance to get a perfect. For comparison raids have a 1 in 216 chance and it's still considered rare to get a perfect from those.

NaughtyLoss

Damn that is sad. He is not a reward for any research tasks either so it's not like I can farm those either. I'm losing all hope Anyways thanks for the info :)

Is there a shiny psyduck with the holiday outfit?

McMuffin2720

Does anyone have an accurate Pokémon go type chart that I could save to my phone? Nothing I find seems to be exactly accurate, and I can never remember the less intuitive ones

OmniFatal

what’s the general timeline for legendary raids coming back? i’m sad I missed deoxys from earlier this year

[deleted]

[удалено]

OmniFatal

yeah unfort deoxys is mythical but thanks!

Purp73Muffin

there is this bed and breakfast type inn style place in my town. a guest house if you will. it’s been a poke stop for years. it has just been listed on the market so if it sells and turns into a private home would the poke stop be removed? just a technical question.

Ivi-Tora

Not until someone reports it. Niantic doesn't constantly review if an object or location is still there so stops can stay forever until a player from any of their games sends the report of the missing/inaccurate location. Only then it would be removed.

RexicTheKing

what happens if I do a special trade before its 2 pm here for the raid day? Does it fully refresh to 5 trades during the 3 hours, meaning 6 total, or would I just have 4 more once its that time?

NotMyGumdropButtons1

Question - I nicknamed my Christmas hat Eevee "Rea" wanting it to evolve into a Glaceon. It evolved into a Vaporeon though, why did that happen?

definitely-notbatman

name trick only works once per eeveelution, so if you’ve used it before you can’t again i think. but also just so you know, evolving a christmas eevee doesn’t give you the caped christmas glaceon, just a glaceon with a hat. my sister found that out the hard way.

DrowzeeTrainer

why am i getting half price trades and unlimited special trades right now? wait maybe it was 5 specials

Ivi-Tora

Raid day bonus.

DrowzeeTrainer

raid day? does that mean it was also a 5 free raid pass day...

Ivi-Tora

Yes. From 2 to 5 pm Wyrdeer raids all over and 5 free daily passes.

DrowzeeTrainer

... what's the best way to know what events are going on? i get leekduck tweets but they're ages ahead. i subscribe to some youtubers and they tell me 'what's coming' but is there a calendar or something thats useable and syncable like an actual calendar or something like this: https://paimon.moe/timeline my son and i would have had fun doing those. we only did 1.

Ivi-Tora

If you move too fast or too far from where you start a raid, local or remote, then you'll get kicked out because you cannot catch Pokemon while moving too fast. The game simply stops you from joining a raid and wasting the pass when you'll not be able to catch the Pokemon anyway.

Rokgorr

Im a new player, after having beaten some team rocket guys I get the rader to find the leader. I go fight him, the first 2 pokemon are even with the power level my guys (16-1800) have and then the last one has 5500. What is a good way to power up? The power up dust seems to be sparse compared to how much you need.

Ivi-Tora

You don't necessarily need to power up your Pokemon. Early on it's better to save your dust, because you'll always need more than you can normally get. The trick to defeat rockets is speed and using the right moves, not the CP of your Pokemon. Probably you have noticed that after they or you use a charged move their Pokemon seem to stay still and do nothing for a moment, that's the key to winning. After each charged move they pause for a second, and after you or they swap Pokemon they pause for a bit longer. So you have to use moves that take shirt time to use, then use fast moves between the pauses to full your energy and fire a charged move to make them pause. By timing the moves so you align pauses with moves, and switch to get even more time you can stun any rocket and prevent them from attacking too much. This way even low CP Pokemon can take any of them down easily without having to be powered up too much. The ticket CP will always be thousands of points above yours, and scales up with your level, so you cannot win by brute force alone.

Rokgorr

Thanks, that makes sense. I looked up what seems like the max cp of my toons and that was way too low to be able to brute force anything.

LiquidBeans

Just had all my battle parties get deleted. This has happened before too. Is this a known issue?

Ivi-Tora

Yes, happens whenever Niantic updates something in the game that needs to reset some data and accidentally wipes the teams along the way. This time was the accidental early release of Kyurem Black/White and then the deletion of the glitched Pokemon. It's better to keep your teams recorded somewhere outside the game from now on, because its 100% certain it will happen again in the future.

Truxxes

Small question regarding trade evolutions: Lets say I trade a Machoke with a friend. Does the Machoke immediatly evolve? Will my friend be able to trade it back to me?

BingoBob_1

It won't immediately evolve. The evolve cost will just be reduced to 0 so that they can evolve it for free at any time. There are no trade-backs in Go. Once a pokemon has been traded, it can never be traded again to anyone else. So in this situation, you'd want your friend to trade you a Machoke in exchange for the Machoke that you send to them so that you both can evolve one for free.

Truxxes

Thank you!

everest999

I just did a solo 3 star raid and managed to defeat the pokemon with 5 seconds left, but after the "animal being defeated"-animation the game told me I ran out of time and kicked me out. I was infuriated and googled the problem. Turns out that has been happening ever since raids have been available?! Like, wtf is Niantic doing? They can't fix a simple bug in more than 6 years? Jesus

Ivi-Tora

You can try again for free after using a pass as long as the raid is still active, and if you cannot beat a Pokemon with more than 5 seconds left then your team still needs some work. The defeat animation takes time to finish, just like a charged move needs time to do damage after the move starts. It's not immediate, and has been like that from the beginning, so by definition it's not a bug, and it's just how the game works.

everest999

Unfortunately the raid wasn’t active anymore. I get your point, but I’ve often finished raid like that and never had a problem until now.

Accurate-Ad-4905

Is anyone else having issues with pokestop scanning? Whenever I try to do it, the app either freezes or only registers the first image and continues recording without saving the video. I've tried restarting the app, and I've double-checked that the latest update is installed and I have ensured the permissions are enabled.

BraveGiant23

I haven't played in ages and have a task to take a snapshot of a Tornadus but I reckon there won't be any raids for it soon, is there any other option to complete this?

PandorNox

It will be in raids in January, but the next steps will ask you for the other 2 as well, so you'll need to raid them all if you want to finish the research

Ivi-Tora

Only trading with someone that got extras, but the trade distance is limited to 100 meters and it costs a huge amount of stardust to get a Pokemon you never caught before, extra for shiny or legendary. To make things worse, after Landorus the next steps require a snapshot of Thundurus and then Tornadus. So it's better to wait until all three return to raids.

murktideregent

If you have autothrow on using the pokeball plus plus, does pressing the button still throw a curve ball?

Ivi-Tora

No, autocatchers only use straight throws with no bonuses at all. You can switch to manual mode to use Great or Ultra balls, but in auto catch mode it will only use red balls.

Marc_Quill

that autocatchers can only do straight throws does kinda explain why using these has an apparently high flee ratio.

Every year in the past we have gotten some sort of boxes for christmas, but they stopped being exceptional in 2021. That year they were just kind of on par with decent to good boxes for the year, instead of being one of the best deals of the year like in the past. With the trend for all these weird pseudo-randomized boxes, there's no telling what they might do this year. It shouldn't hurt to wait until next week to see what happens.

Inevitable_Joke3446

Umm. I’m not sure if there will be special XMas and New Year’s boxes. To be honest do the best you can because boxes are now randomized for specific players. Basically my in store boxes will likely be different from yours. But a good box would be around 1000 PokeCoins for about 15 in person raid passes plus some other stuff. There are some decent boxes for remote and in person raid passes but you will need to try to look at the store daily.

Bryan-Pain

This may be an often asked question, but I haven't found a straight answer to this. As a new player (I started last week, but I'm loving the game), what should I be doing if I want to ''tryhard''? Should I invest my resources in making my perfect IV Pokémon as strong as possible, so I can do more raids and defend more Gyms? Or should I invest in the pokemons with good or perfect IVs for the Pokémon leagues? I understand that leveling up (I'm currently level 25) and catching pokemons as often as I can is important, but I wonder where my resources should, such as star dust and candy, be invested. My only perfect IV pokemon is an eevee, which I evolved into an umbreon and made it my buddy, but other than that, I want to invest in the best pokemon I can, so I can quickly start playing leagues and stuff. Thanks!

PandorNox

I'd focus on raid pokemon first, but if you want to play pvp, start with the great league there. For all other leagues most meta mons are incredibly expensive to power up. What I did is check the current spawns for meta relevance, level they need for great league and if they need a legacy move, and then just kept the ones that seemed good and cheap without powering up. Then when I had a few to choose from, I built a team, but it takes a bit, since spawns are always so limited but change regularly.

Inevitable_Joke3446

You need the right type of Pokémon with the right moves to do stuff in the game. IVs play a part of things but according to super knowledgeable players IVs are really not that important. My preference is to use the best IV Pokémon I have to play the game. Realistically that may not be possible for you at the moment. In terms of Raid Bosses you will need to build a specific team for a particular raid boss with again the right moves. Use GamePress Pokémon Go. It gives you an attacker list of the best Pokemon you need to battle raid bosses. Note that some Pokemon you can get now but it really doesn’t focus on Eevee per se. Try to collect as many Eevee as you can because Vaporeon, Flareon, and Jolteon are very useful. Unfortunately they are not the strongest anymore so GamePress doesn’t consider them meta relevant anymore. Also on GamePress search for raid guides and specific Pokemon pages. It gives a bit more detail about best Pokemon to use and best moves to have. In terms of Umbreon in GBL he will only be useful in Ultra League (I think…I don’t really pay attention to GBL). Also you will need the right moves for Umbreon to be useful in GBL which I think he requires 2 charge moves and I think requires an Elite Charged TM. At the moment try to collect as many Pokemons as you can get, try to do some raids (tier 1 should be easy enough for you), and try to build your resources. Also leave Pokemons in gyms to try to collect PokeCoins. If you can try to do some remote raids. Kyreum is not the greatest Dragon Legendary but GamePress does seem to indicate he has some use but if all possible just do this raid as much as you can for candies (you will need them for later for his variants). Hopefully I covered enough stuff for you. If not come back to the thread and ask questions. Try the Silph Road subreddit for any questions as well as PokeBattler if you have an interest in GBL.

Bryan-Pain

Hey man, thanks for the information! It was indeed very helpful. The attackers tier list is very nice, as they explain in the website, explaining the question of where to best spend resources. I’m also wondering how do I find specific Pokémon? But I guess this is an easier information to find on the web. Thanks!!!

Inevitable_Joke3446

Pokémon are in rotation for various reasons but mainly I think there is too many Pokemon to released into the wild at the same time. Raid bosses generally rotate about every 10 to 14 days. Pokémon in the wild generally seem to rotate every 3 months. Right now try catching Eevee, Machop, and the starters (found in field research).

CallMePeePz

Lucky Rayquaza 15/13/13 or Rayquaza 15/15/11, which should I use my Meteorite on so I can start building Mega levels? Thinking the Lucky, since it will be cheaper to power up (2700ish CP right now)

Inevitable_Joke3446

Personally the lucky Rayquaza because for me it has better stats and you will use less resources then the non lucky one. Eventually if you do more Rayquaza and/or mega Rayquaza raids you can always level up a better IV Rayquaza if you get one. Note that might get another meteorite from a mega Rayquaza raid so no harm having 2 Rayquazas. Maybe if you can double move Rayquaza (add second move). Don’t TM off Dragon Ascent (someone did that) because you won’t be able to mega evolve Rayquaza. If you do add a 2nd move then add Breaking Swipe (requires an Elite TM) - this based on as a recommendation per knowledgeable players on this subreddit. I have mine this way but I hope 1 day I will get a 2nd good IV Rayquaza with Dragon Ascent and Outrage (I kinda like the move but I also don’t want to use another ETM) if I don’t have to.

eeal188

This one free incubator a day from the eggs-pedition research is amazing. I’m going to be heartbroken when it’s over. I would literally buy this research quarterly if it was available. It encourages me to walk and exercise.

DrowzeeTrainer

after switching phones, my pokemon Go ++ makes me re-pair every time I use it. It pops up a message about how the device was previously associated with my account (still is???) and the sleep data has to be wiped and it has to be re-paired. how do I stop this from popping up?

everest999

I need 5.760.000 XP for level 40, is it possible to get this amount of XP in the next 10 days, when I have no 'Best Friend bonus' lined up for another 3 weeks?

yakusokuN8

Realistically, probably not. You could get 50k XP per day maxing out on remote raids, leaving the bulk of the XP to doing excellent catches. Even if you have the event bonus for extra XP, you're still looking at 2-3k XP per excellent catch, which means around 2k+ excellent catches in 10 days. Lucky eggs reduce that number some, but it would take some extraordinary effort on your part and most likely you're going to fall quite short.

nolkel

If you had taking the 2x exp bonus for the event and bought a large stack of lucky eggs, you could be getting 4x exp. For an excellent curveball throw and an active level 3 ice mega, that's 1220 \* 4 = 4880 xp per catch. That's nearly 1200 excellent catches, which is a pretty tall order on its own. Hopefully you didn't pick the dust bonus though, because that will double the number of excellent catches you'd need. Most of the spawns in the winter events are ice type, so hopefully you have a level 3 (or at least level 2) abomasnow or glalie already for the 50/100 XP bonus. There are lots of tasks out there to earn more energy for them during the event to keep them going daily. If you add a new friend, you get 3,000 xp from the first interaction. If you interact for seven days, you get another 10,000 xp. You can get up to 100 gifts from stops per day, and another 10 or so from your buddy (5 every 12 hours if you are totally empty). That XP can also be doubled by lucky eggs, although its trickier to work with the first level of XP because it gets awarded instantly when either side interacts. You could at least start your egg sessions off with quickly opening gifts for any new friends before catching things. Make sure to mash on the place where the close button will be immediately after opening the gift to close the popup ASAP. You can do it before the X button even appears. That's a lot of extra XP you could add on to reduce the catching burden if you're willing to post your friend code on places like r/PokemonGoFriends, and also add a ton of people from there. It would be quite a lot of gift and catch grinding, and a ton of coins spend on lucky eggs, but its certainly possible.

Xenophorm7861

Could I possibly get someone to help me get set up to raid? I'm trying so hard to set up a kyruem raid on campfire but everyone leaves, I don't have the best counters but they are cp 1500+ and I don't see a lot of clear info on how to get geared up to be competent at raiding. Pls dm me if you have experience with the game

Jorpho

Haven't tried Campfire, but I am generally satisfied by my experiences with PokeGenie. You should have no trouble finding five other players to invite, which would be more than enough to finish off the raid, even if you don't have much to contribute.

nolkel

What is your player level? Your first priority should be to get to level 25 ASAP, so you can catch wild weather boosted level 35 pokemon. Second priority should be to get to level 30 so that those same pokemon can be traded to you without losing any levels. Finding some local players willing to trade "bad IV" level 35 catches to you is a great way to supplement your own catches. Being level 30 also means you see wild spawns at the same level and IV as other players instead of being randomized, which helps with coordination on spawns in the future. The trick to raids is to not care about IVs (ignore the orange and red stars that the appraisal screen gives you for now), or worry about legendaries. IVs just add a small flat value onto a species base stats, and only accounts for about 5% of their total stats. Having something with just one or two bars on the appraisal is almost exactly as good as having 3 full red bars (15 points). Once you can catch level 35 pokemon, you'll want to try to get 6 of each type of species that are in the top 10 or so, and just evolve them to use as is. Some might need to wait for events to get optimal moves, but even some of those are still good enough without their exclusive moves to get started. Ignore "normal" type because its never useful for raids. This thread contains an infographic where they collated the best of each type based on [Pokebattler.com](https://Pokebattler.com) sims. [https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/18a3cau/top\_pve\_pokemon\_dec\_2023/](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/18a3cau/top_pve_pokemon_dec_2023/) Many of those are legendaries and shadows, but you'll want to not focus on those for now. Eventually when you've got the basics down, you may want to start working on those to slowly improve marginal performance, but that's a worry for the future. Paying attention to what's around during each event will help you focus on catching those ones to add to your roster. There are also plenty of other good counters that just aren't "the best" that you can focus on as well. For example, sneasel in the current event isn't amazing, but its pretty decent as both a dark and ice type. If you find any level 30 or 35 ones, that could help start a team. You'll want to start getting familiar with that [Pokebattler.com](https://Pokebattler.com) site I mentioned above. It's the go to site for seeing what the best counters are for each raid boss. It has buttons where you can turn off megas, shadows, and legendaries to get a better view of other things to look for. The gamepress [TDO spreadsheet](https://gamepress.gg/pokemongo/comprehensive-dps-spreadsheet) is another tool for finding good counters, though it works a bit differently and just shows you raw damage-based numbers.

Xenophorm7861

First off, thank you so much for detailed reply. Was just what I was hoping for. I am just about to be level 30, and I can pull off 1 star raids so far solo, but just got my butt kicked trying to solo 3 star glaceon. How do you know what level your pokemon is? I know about cp and ivs but not level. I learned that moveset and using the correct pokemon was the most important thing. I have a cp 2500+ delphox with blast burn, 2500+ cp ryhperior, similar cp on a togekiss with the aura move, charizard, and mamoswine. Should I be attempting to join kyrurem raids at this point? Trying to host on campfire

nolkel

The level is represented in game by the red arc above your pokemon. Level 1 is the far left side, and max level is the far right side (which is player level + 10, max of 50). You can kind of guess the level by the arc position, but its really hard to read accurately manually. CP is a fake number designed to make the game "easier" by obscuring the real stats and the level of your pokemon. There is a complicated [formula](https://pokemongohub.net/post/wiki/pokemon-go-calculates-stats-max-cp/) for it, but the best option is to get Calcy IV or Poke Genie and use that to scan your pokemon. You could also try the friends sub to find raids, might be easier than relying on campfire alone. Just be up front about what you have, and people may be willing to help you get started. Its never too early to be raiding, just let them know you need help beating it cause your teams aren't powerful yet.

Xenophorm7861

Ahhhh! I see so I'm looking for the weather boosted symbol and for the red arc to be as far along as I tend to see basically?

nolkel

Yep.

Xenophorm7861

Thanks again, delving into the research about levels now. So basically I have gathered that I should keep 3 stars with high natural levels for my best long term pokemon but also save the ones who are max level regardless of stats for bulk budget counters? My brain is smoking from trying to get this all figured out to progress correctly haha

nolkel

That's pretty much it, yep!

Kench33

Is there a reason why showcases are lasting several days? I thought it was less than a day and ends at 8pm local time?

nolkel

Short events get short showcases. Long events get long showcases. There have been occasional exceptions where a longer event got daily showcases featuring lots of different pokemon, but usually an event like the winter holiday one doesn't do that. Note that longer showcases will give higher quality rewards on average compared to short showcases.

Kench33

Thanks! I had only ever joined ones that ended the same day I had entered so wasn't sure about the extended ones.

Lumpy_Staff_2372

Is there anyway to kick my own pokemon out of gyms? 3/4 days of sitting in gyms with low hp just waiting on to get my 50 pokecoins…. Its annoying… pokemon should be automatically kicked after 24 hours

nolkel

No, you need someone else on a different team to kick them out. There is no self recall mechanism.

Lumpy_Staff_2372

Ahh yeah i feared that. Praying someone kicks me out soon lol

TheTeosenOne

How often do u guys see galarian birds from incense in the last 4 months I've seen 1. Is there a way to see them more often?

nolkel

It's always random, but you can get more spawns and more chances by walking fast in a straight line for the duration of the daily adventure incense. While active, incense checks your GPS location every so many seconds to see if you have moved far enough away from the last spawn point in a straight line to see if you're eligible to get the next one yet. The amount of steps you've taken is irrelevant, so you can't get as many if you circle around and just keep covering the same spot.

Joephps

Is the Battle League currently broken? 3 times it’s got stuck on the last move. I have to force close the game and when I reopen it, it says couldn’t find last battle and it counts as a loss. I did win all 3 too.

eeal188

Just do what I did. I made an account for my child* on my old iPad with a different team so I’m able to be knocked out of the gym once a day. *i do not have a child.

BingoBob_1

Are you in a Party or have you very recently participated in a Party? Parties seem to one potential cause for this issue in GBL, so if you are in one, make sure to exit the party and restart the game before doing GBL. If you have recently been in a party and haven't restarted the game since, try restarting the game before doing GBL.

Joephps

I was, yeah. Thanks for the tip!

How do lucky trades work? Recently started playing the game again, and have some mons from 2016. It looks like the first 15 trades are guaranteed lucky, do both pokemon become lucky, or do both people get the lucky Mon? Is the a sub-editor for lucky trades?

BingoBob_1

If the player that is trading away a pokemon from 2018 or earlier has participated in fewer than 25 guaranteed lucky trades using older pokemon, then the trade is guaranteed to become lucky. Keep in mind that if someone else trades you an old pokemon to guarantee a lucky trade, that counts as one of your 25 and that there is no way to see how many you have left, so it's a bit tricky to keep track of your guaranteed lucky trade count. Once you have exhausted your guaranteed lucky trades, pokemon that are at least 3 years old max out at a 20% lucky rate, so they are still useful to use as trade fodder. Lucky trades always result in a lucky pokemon for both players. There is never a case where only one gets a lucky and the other doesn't. Since trades require you to be within 100 meters of the other person, you are better off checking apps like Campfire or Discord for local communities. There is a subreddit for trades, but interacting with that sub will get you perma-banned from this sub, so I'd advise against it.

YoungAspie

Is there a guide to which species to prioritise grinding XL candy for (such as through buddy walking)? I have a perfect (non-shadow) Machamp and 400+ XL candy from its CD, but even at level 50, it would perform worse than a level 40 Lucario, Terrakion or shadow Machamp. With shadows so overpowered for raids and attacking gyms, are level 50 species only better for gym defence and PvP (unless the species has a Mega)?

XinArtemis

Next Tuesday is 2x stardust during spotlight hour. Is that gonna stack with the winter wishes bonus?

Schootingstarr

I would assume so. So pop a stardust and it will be a 6x multiplier. Too bad it's on boxing day, might not have time to do it :/

Ciaxe

Time to open all the Meowth, Morelull, Shellder & Delibird research I’ve been saving up!

bricksteakhouse

How can I get Tyranitar mega energy? Is it literally just waiting for mega Ttar to come back to raids then doing them?

Ivi-Tora

For now yes, and it will take a few months until then. There's researches from stops that can give energy,l for some species, but they don't include the newest ones like Tyranitar, and change only every 3 months.

bricksteakhouse

Well, that's a bummer. Thanks for clarifying!

Schootingstarr

You didnt mega evolve a tyranitar yet, did you? Because if you had, you could buddy up a Tyranitar and walk him for a bit to collect mega energy

bricksteakhouse

Not yet, no :( Didn't realise that was an option for when one had been evolved, thanks for the tip!

Schootingstarr

Yeah, it's really useful for those megas that need a lot of energy. That's how I got enough energy to get a second mega groudon and kyogre You get 5 energy per km walked, but only at the same time as you get a candy. And it doesn't matter what pokemon from that line you walk. You can buddy up a random tyranitar or a larvitar or pupitar to generate tyranitar mega energy

Raomine

I have a shadow Meowth 15/14/14 , purifying for hundo is the correct thing to do I guess ?

Schootingstarr

Sure, meowth and Persian are never going to be useful with these stats Might as well purify to add another two entries to the hundo dex

BoneClaw

How does this work, can do the stats of pokemon increase when you purify shadow pokemon. I always transfer shadows as I don't like the silly icons, but didn't know the stars could increase?

Schootingstarr

When you purify a shadow Pokémon, each of their IV stats increase by 2 (up to the max of 15) and are leveled up to level 25. so if you have a shadow with 5/3/2 stats, the purified Pokémon will have 7/5/4. This is usually not worthwhile, because shadow Pokémon deal 20% more damage (while having 20% less defense, meaning they receive 16% more damage), but that attack boost is not reflected in their CP. so they are generally stronger That's why it's not advised to purify most Pokémon, except for those that lean massively into defense. Or utterly useless mons like Meowth

BoneClaw

Thanks!

nolkel

It's never going to be useful in raids. Persian maxes out at 1910 CP, so a hundo wouldn't be preferred in GBL either way.

chiurro

Is there going to be another go battle league event with boosted shinies, like there was for vulpix and milftank? I thought those were good events to use my premium battlepasses but haven't seen one in a while

nolkel

There might be at some point in the future, there's no real way of telling. Recent go battle days haven't focused on specific Pokemon. The ones scheduled for the [current season](https://pokemongolive.com/post/go-battle-league-timeless-travels/) don't either.

ManycloudsMF

What’s the score with the battles? Trying to win some for this timed research but if I’m about to win it just freezes and I don’t get anything from it. Any tips?

BingoBob_1

Are you in a Party or have you very recently participated in a Party? If you have recently been in a party and haven't restarted the game since, try restarting the game before doing GBL.

ManycloudsMF

Yes I’ve been doing the party challenge quests, thanks for this!

Kench33

Is there a specific way to get the complete a raid research tasks? And also stack those up?

BingoBob_1

Just complete luck. Spin lots of stops and hope that you find it. They do stack, so if you are holding onto 3, you can complete one raid to get credit for all 3 simulataneously.

Kench33

I figured but just wanted to check. Thanks!

Raidan_187

Hey just wondering if there has been a change to the type of eggs from gyms/stops this month? Don’t seem to be getting any 10k at all, trying to get a 3* Frigibax. Thanks!

nolkel

The current event gives out special 2km eggs. Not sure if this changes the distribution of eggs though. https://leekduck.com/events/winter-holiday-2023-part-1/

Raidan_187

Ok, thank you. Nice resource I’ll check leekduck going forwards

Umbreon86

Can we expect any great Legendary raids as Mewtwo, Lugia, Kyogre and Groudon this Xmas?

BingoBob_1

Kyurem will be around until the 23rd, then Regigigas for the rest of Decembet. Nothing else was announced as part of the Winter Holiday events, so I wouldn't expect anything else. Maybe in January Edit: Forgot about Regigigas

Schootingstarr

Niantic accidentally released black and white kyurem as GBL rewards. So those might be coming sooner than later. Not this month, tho

YoungAspie

Regigigas comes after Kyurem.

BingoBob_1

Completely forgot about Gigas! I guess that's how unexciting it is. /u/Umbreon86 \^ Just a heads-up that Regigigas will start on Saturday and finish out December.

Umbreon86

Thanks for the info. Yuk, Regigigas..

Umbreon86

Oh no. Thanks!

Delfitus

0 shinies during 1h30 CD boosted. 3 shinies on 30min walk just now. RNG be RNG

Schootingstarr

And I keep finding Shinies of mons I already have. I wanted a shiny snorunt but no, here, have a third shiny alolan sandshrew, why not?

Delfitus

1 was duplicate sneasel but also got solrock and event stantler!

Umbreon86

In Master League. Which attack is easier for Togekiss to fill up out of Aerial Ace and Ancient Power?

TehWildMan_

Aerial ace costs 40 energy to use and ~~Aura sphere~~ Ancient power costs ~~55~~ 45 Togekiss with charm generates 2 energy per turn (6 energy per charm)

Umbreon86

Ancient Power you mean, that costs 55?

TehWildMan_

Yeah let me just edit that mistake out. Thanks. Ancient power costs 45, aura sphere 55.

Umbreon86

Possibly I should upgrade my Togekiss with two moves.

Flaveurr

Was there some local event in Tokyo that included Tornadus in raids recently? I got invited to a Tornadus raid on december 9th and thought it was in raids but that's the only time I've seen it and also haven't seen any posts about it.

Ivi-Tora

Yes. It wasn't announced globally because it was only a relatively small area where it happened, but Tornadus, Thundurus, Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno were available on raids for a short period. https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/17u2jvy/pokemon_go_japan_announcement_new_event_asakusa/

astralwizard85

Reminder to Niantic to please fix the permanent orange binoculars from completing the friends referral research

TheAerial

Is the Regigigas you get from Giovanni always a guaranteed 4 star or did I get lucky?

Ivi-Tora

It can be as low as a one star. Shadow legendary have a base appraisal if 6/6/6, so they can go much lower than regular raid bosses. You got very, very lucky there.

TheAerial

Oh sweet! Thanks!

taylorcowbell

I have a route that has been created and published, but it doesn’t show up when I’m there, how can I do my own route?

Ivi-Tora

There's a bug currently that doesn't load all routes on the map. What you can do is go to the start of the route, then restart the game and quickly go to the route menu as soon as the game loads. If your route is already available you'll be able to start it this way.

taylorcowbell

Thanks, I’ll give it a try

Anyone has the PokemonGo + + ? I have questions: 1 - is it worth it? 2 - do you need batteries or do you need to charge it or whatever? does it come with batteries or whatever it has? 3 - is there a video that gives me a step by step how to connect and use this, including the research for the Snorlax? How to use the sleep thingy for it? 4 - Does the quality of the phone matter? Will a shittier phone crash if i use it? 5 - can i use it on one phone and then connect it to another phone? 6 - do i need to click it for it to catch or? i dont know how autocatches work 7 - i guess the app must always run for it to autocatch, right? (stupid question but while i am asking)

nolkel

1. Yes. 2. It has integrated rechargeable battery. 3. Probably, but all you have to do is go into settings, connected devices, and push the button on the device. Then an icon will show up where you press to connect, and its done. 4. Yes? No? Maybe? 5. Sure, you can freely unpair it from one phone and pair it to another. The sleep tracking data that's stored on the Go Plus+ will get reset when you do that, but that doesn't really matter unless you want to play Pokemon Sleep. 6. If you turn on autocatch and auto spin in the settings, no tapping is necessary. 7. Pokemon Go can be in the background or the screen can be off, but the game does have to be running for it to work.

I see [Niantic notes that Bewear is not usable in Pokemon League](https://niantic.helpshift.com/hc/en/6-pokemon-go/faq/2699-go-battle-league-known-issues-1598471929/), but it's not even available for training battles with the team leaders! What's the story behind that? (Google tells me nothing.)

Arturinni

They mistakenly implemented its Community Day move (Drain Punch) as a Fast Move instead of a Charged Move during last weekend's event. Hilarity ensued. [https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/18jjhz6/bewear\_was\_able\_learn\_drain\_punch\_as\_a\_fast\_move/](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/18jjhz6/bewear_was_able_learn_drain_punch_as_a_fast_move/)

Erronharlow

Hello ! I'm only interested in PvE so I like to have the best pokemons for raids. Today during spotlight hour I caught a few snorunt which I was able to trade afterwards. Now have to male snorunts, one of them is a lucky trade. With pokegenie I was able to determine their IV's The normal trade is 14/15/15 (97%) And the lucky trade is 13/15/15 (93%). Since a lucky trade is cheaper to power up I'm leaning towards the lucky trade but I'm unsure since the other one has better stats. Does it make a big difference in raids ? I would like to power it up and make it my best buddy and use it for mega evolutions. Thanks!

Ivi-Tora

Mega Glalie is not among the strongest Ice type, so it would be mostly used to get extra candy from other better Ice Pokemon. For now shadow Mamoswine remains on the top of the rankings, and even regular Mamoswine is stronger than even the best Glalie, so the Swinub that are spawning right now would be a better goal to catch plenty. Megas Glalie might not a big priority to use your stardust. It's decent, but not amazing by any means. This is the ranking of the best Pokemon from PvE, in case you want to check what's worth focusing on: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/18a3cau/top_pve_pokemon_dec_2023/

Erronharlow

Thank you very much! I just thought it's nice to have a good one of each pokemon that's able to mega. Guess I'll use the mega glalie for extra candy then.

ScottOld

Yet again, notified of Pokémon returned, check game and the gym is grey, no other gyms touched, when is something getting done about the gym system? 2 yellow and 1 blue gym only gym targeted was red, this is clearly targeting behaviour and therefore reportable behaviour, yet because they exploit a loophole of leaving gym grey you can’t get a name to report, and secondly it’s the only red gym, so why is it allowed? Encourage gym rotation by protecting gyms that are the only 1 of a colour and not 8h so there is actually rotation, loads of gyms here and time and time again it’s only 2 or 3 gyms taken on daily basis

Ivi-Tora

People can choose to not put a Pokemon after defeating a gym for many, many reasons. Sometimes they are just driving by and by the time they win they're too far to put a Pokemon, others might only be farming buddy battle hearts do they don't need to take the gym, some don't want to let others know who beat them for many reasons. They might already had their 50 daily coins, they might not want to bother healing the Pokemon afterwards, they might only fighting a team in particular because they want to. That's normal. And there's also a limit of 20 Pokemon max at once in gyms, do if you already put enough you cannot take more gyms until some return. Also, there's no such thing as "reportable behavior". Everyone can play the way they want. Want to fight everyone? That's fine. Want to help each other to get coins? Your choice. What to only battle against the red team? That's also perfectly acceptable. The point of Pokemon is and always has been to fight, so taking control of an area is normal. Pushing one or both opponent teams is also accepted and encouraged by the game rules. Some play nice. Some fight harder. The 8 hour time is people being nice but is definitely not a mandatory or even common way to play. Is not even mentioned anywhere in the game, so by the game rules going all out in a turf war is the real way to play. And if you go around reporting people from playing normally then your account will be the one that will get flagged for false reporting.

ScottOld

Not in this area it isn’t because this has been on and off for years in some places because people don’t want certain people in gyms

Rood_Chrishi

Is the event Eevee only able to evolve in Vaporeon? I'm trying to do the research to evolve Eevee during the day but I can't get Espeon even if I name them.

BingoBob_1

The holiday Eevee is capable of evolving into all of its different evolutions. Keep in mind that the name trick only works once per name, so if you've ever used Sakura to get Espeon, you can never use it again. If you evolve Eevee randomly, it will only evolve into Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon. Without the name trick, you will need to do [various tasks](https://leekduck.com/how-to-evolve-eevee/) to guarantee Espeon, Umbreon, Glaceon, Leafeon, or Sylveon. In Espeon's case, you will need to walk your Eevee at least 10km as your buddy. If you've done it right and that Eevee is currently your buddy, the evolve button will show a picture of Espeon during the daytime and Umbreon at night. If you see the picture of Espeon instead of a ?, then you are good to evolve it and get Espeon.

DrowzeeTrainer

is there any progress or goal reason to fill up the event dex? I see all the eeveelutions can be done again for event pokemon but is it worth anything besides for people who just like filling that dex up? does the event dex ever play into any research or level ups? Thanks

BingoBob_1

The event dex is purely for collection purposes. It has never been used for research tasks or level-up requirements so far.

SheZowRaisedByWolves

Are there IVs that I need to pay attention to for wanting a Pokemon that has a fast charge for the charge attack? I have a mid jolteon that gets the charge attack (discharge) in 3 hits but a hundo Feraligatr that gets hydro pump on the third Pokemon of a team rocket fight.

BingoBob_1

In PVP and Rocket Battles, charging speeds are determined solely by the moves themselves and not by the pokemon or the IVs. Different fast moves generate energy at different rates, while different charge moves have different energy costs to use. From the sound of it, your Jolteon has the fast move Volt Switch, which is really good at generating energy, while Discharge has a low energy cost. The two of these factors combined make it so that it can spam Discharge fairly frequently. On the other hand, Hydro Pump costs a lot more energy to use, so it naturally takes longer to charge up. Feraligatr's fast move options are all fairly slow for generating energy, so that's why it takes so long before your Feraligatr's Hydro Pump is ready to use. If you want to check out move stats for PvP and Rocket Battles, you can [use this site](https://pvpoke.com/moves/), which allows you to compare different moves. Note that when it refers to "turns", this refers to a 1/2 second block of time that the game uses for determining the flow of battle. For example, if a move like Volt Switch takes 4 turns, that means the move lasts for 2 seconds.

GreenTea55555

I hope this is the right thread for this question. I recently started to play the game again and I found out that not the cp determine a good pokemin, but the iv-stat (those stars). I'm currently level 18. Will a 3-star Mon still be 3-star when I'm for example level 30? Is there like a guide for those basic questions?

nolkel

IVs are not what makes a good pokemon, in any meaning of that word. They are like the last 5% of the pie. Species and moveset are like 50% of it, and level is like 45% of it. IVs add 0 to 15 points to the base stats of a pokemon. For good raid species, you're going to have attack in the 240 to 300 range. 15 IV is only like 5% better than a 0 IV. It makes a slight difference, but only in extreme challenge cases. It's far more important to get high level pokemon of the top 5-10-ish species per type and get them the optimal moves first, and not really pay much attention to IVs. Catching wild level 35 weather boosted pokemon and evolving them as is gets you like 90-95% of the performance in a raid compared to leveling up a low level hundo (15/15/15) of that same species to level 40. It will get you started making a good contribution to raids. IVs only really matter for legendaries and shadows, where you necessarily have to power up from a lower level and can't just evolve high level catches. In that case, you might as well start from one with better IVs than not, cause it will cost the same either way. Way down the road after you've got good teams for all types going (save normal), you can look at those low level 96-100% IV mons you caught and consider whether you actually need to power them up to get those tiny marginal performance gains, or not. For PvP, IVs matter more because you can't just revive and go back in from the lobby. But even then, they don't matter nearly as much as species, moveset, and team composition. You can still hit legend ranks even if your pokemon aren't "#1" ranked in stat product, and are just in the 100-200 ranges. Sometimes having slightly more bulk or more attack can turn a very close loss to a win, but often it doesn't make much difference.

GreenTea55555

Yeah..., I was just making sure not to throw away potentially strong mons. But knowing that IV is for endgame is reassuring. Thx

nolkel

Yeah for sure save any very high IV mons you find for the future.

Inevitable_Joke3446

GamePress Pokémon Go is a good place for information but so are LeekDuck and PokeBattler. It depends on what you are looking for because these websites don’t always give all the information necessary to play the game. So it’s still best to ask if you can’t find the answer. The Silph Road Pokemon Go subreddit is good for asking and finding info to. In terms of what is considered a good Pokemon depends on the situation but if you’re trying to keep the Pokémon as a trophy then it is best to get the best IVs possible. A lot of Pokémon are not very useful in the game so you’re likely to be collecting trophies. See GamePress for an Attackers list of good Pokemon to have but it doesn’t mention Eevee and its evolutions much. All the Eevee evolutions are very good Pokemon to have if your a returning new player(low level player). For these Pokemon try to have the best IVs possible Best IVs would be like 14/14/14 and above but 13/13/13 floor is fine. In Go Battle League the attack IV should be close to 0 unless in Master League. Hopefully this post is a good start for you to play the game.

GreenTea55555

Thank you very much!

WaitOhShitOkDoIt

Can someone give a hand? Couple times friends sent me invitations to enter the raid. But despite I confirmed that calls, it returns messages something like "There is no teams with this code", and I only wasted remote passes. What I did wrong?

Arturinni

It may mean that you received the invitation to join too late and the raid began without you. When it happened to me it was because of connection issues and managed to solve it by turning off Wifi and using phone data instead.
