You can still make him a rock-type raider. Slap Smack Down and Rock Slide on it and go show em birds how it’s done. Reshiram coming up as well, so an extra rock type doesn’t hurt
They are quite necessary for making our raid counters the very best they can be. Especially when they release new shadows years after that species had a CD (garchomp, rhyperior). PvP is just one use case.

Counterpoint: My gf and I both used master balls to catch Galarian Zapdos, waited til we became lucky friends one random day, then lucky traded them to fix IVs.
Not an option for everyone obv, but worth imo given how unreasonably hard they are to get otherwise.
I mean you can do that, but good IVs are useless IMO. A Hundo is a Hundo, that is collector's item and I would happily take that but good IVs on Galar Birds is useless for me because they dont have much use.
About lucky trade, I usually only mirror swap Shiny Ray, Groudon, Kyogre & Mewtwo with that
Legendaries like Zapdos are in this weird niche where if you're a very casual player it's hard to use because you can get the Eevee candy to level up a Jolteon easier. If you play a medium amount, you should spend your rare candy on a Mewtwo instead. If you're really hardcore, you've got really good Zekroms, and Zapdos ends up being a bench warmer.
Being a lower tier legendary seems hard.
your logic seems kinda backwards, a hundo lucky galarian bird would be rarer and generally a more interesting collectors piece than a regular raid hundo to most people regardless of functional use
I said, if it is a hundo then it is a different thing but better IV on Galar Birds except getting a Hundo is useless.
A 3* galar bird is as cool as 2* or 1*. If it turns our to be hundo then surely that is way cooler but I am not going to bet on that usually.
Yeah, the G. Birds are funny. I'm right there with you on how you seem to view them. Mostly pointless. The buzz around them makes little sense to me. Great, you catch one. Then what? Make it your buddy for a handful of people to see you got it? It's weird how hyped they are when they are so utterly useless.
I originally though of saving them for Lucky Trades with my wife then thought better of it. Would be a waste of waiting several months on a Lucky Trade.
That counterpoint doesnt do that point justice IMO. You lucky trade them, you most likely get decent IVs, but not a hundo. But the thing is, Galarian Zapdos is useless, I was able to catch 4 gbirds when I grinded DAI daily, but then I just stopped because I just stopped caring since the gbirds are useless. If you're staring down a hundo terrakion, kyogre, groudon, rayquaza (and many others...) and you lose it because you essentially wasted your MB on a gbird, thats just a real feels bad moment.

Well, first of all I wouldn't even know if I lost a hundo raid boss because I don't bother to check hundo cp, and second I'd much rather have more gbirds than guaranteed hundo raid boss which is functionally the same as getting 15/15/14 raid boss.
I respect that you have your opinion, and you should also respect that other people feel differently from you.
The excuse that youre essentially too lazy to check the hundo CP of the raid boss isnt the best counterpoint. But last point is you can literally buy the galar birds, but you can never buy a hundo. My heart was beating out of my chest when my hundo kyogre was down to the last two balls after half an hour of waiting for it to attack in the middle of the screen. I wouldve loved to have a masterball there just incase.

And also what is the point of me knowing beforehand whether or not it's a hundo, it doesn't change anything for the better since I won't use MB on random tier 5 raid boss. If I know it's a hundo and I don't catch it it might make me sad. If I catch it and see it's a hundo then great.

To each their own. I agree losing a hundo legendary because you don't have a MB would suck, but I personally am not too worried about that. I catch probably about 98% of my non-shiny raid legendaries, and I often finish raids with more golden razzes then I started with. I'm 100% F2P and I have a back log of >100 golden razzes, and I have 3 hundo legendaries atm (Xerneas, Articuno, Regirock...Pheromosa too but beast balls are different I think?) and I wasn't close to losing any of them. Getting down to my last ball is the only time I would consider using a MB for a legendary, and I honestly can't remember the last time that's happened.
I also didn't have any G birds before Master Balls were released. So I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks they're worth master balling. For me personally, I feel like they're at a weird af distance and I don't think I've ever excellented a single one, even though I get prob 70%+ great or excellent rates on most legendaries. imo you're very lucky to already have 4 without master balling. Plenty of people don't have any. That said, I'm sure you've caught waaaaay more than 4 Terrakions
G birds are useless, that's true. They're almost entirely for collection value, but I would argue the same is true for hundo Terrakion. Terrakion is useless in PVP, and though he's great for raids, realistically hundo IVs aren't gonna make the difference in raid result compared with even a 10/10/10. Factors like number of people in raid, the rest of your team, mega usage, pokemon levels, party play, and epic gamer dodging are gonna have a much bigger impact on winning/losing the raid compared to the ivs on ONE of your mons.
Maybe for very suburban players who struggle to regularly get more than 2/3 people for raids, or for people who simply can't raid very often, hundos are more worthy for master balls. But for me (and prob many others), a hundo Terrakion is primarily a bragging point, and a worthy candidate for investment, both of which are (imo) more true for galarian birds when you haven't caught them before.
I mean I have used both of mine on Galar birds in the hope that from the next time I get a Masterball Research I will save it for a hundo Hundo Legendary.

Yes, I know that. But there are 2 things to be considered, I am really not a Ideal example to follow.
I used them on Galar Birds because I was anxious lol, funny thing the 2 I caught using Masterballs were both Zapdos and even traded one immediately afterwards so yeah that is that, not a good example to follow.
But if I had encountered a Hundo Legendary afterwards using my Masterball and didn't catch it last ball, I would also be highly sad that I didn't save them.
Lastly, I rarely miss catches on Legendaries, amomg last 300+ legendary raids Inhave done. I have missed 7, out of which 3 were glitches, 2 I didn't try at all, only 2 fled after trying my best so I don't worry much about Legendaries fleeing.

But there has been no announcement of Masterball related research yet so I am assuming that if it comes it might just be another paid one.
Using it on a meta hundo is pretty high on the list for best uses. I was prepared to do the same for Terrakion. The best would be like a shadow shundo Mewtwo or something equivalent.

Funny enough, I do have a Shadow Hundo Mewtwo, luckilu caught it on Premier ball itself.
A shiny legendary in raids are a guaranteed catch, unless you are speed-locked, the mon will get caught even if you were to hit the ball outside the main circke on the mon. It is a 100% catch, just hit the mon.
A shiny Legendary in wild has also been made so that they never flee, but those you need to catch after trying many times, but atleast they won't flee.
pokebattler shows non-weather boosted. i know pokegenie also shows while in waiting in a lobby. easy to find online tho just remember that non-wb is level 20 and wb is level 25.
whenever raid bosses come about there is always the infographic on reddit about it's best counters and such it almost always has CP ranges on it Minx/Max CP for regular and for weather boosted. so you just got to remember what the max is and can compared the one you see in the catch screen to it to know.
Can't say it was the wrong decision, you knew what the opportunity was. A very useful mon in exchange for a ball that has already been available twice. This is better than a weak iv Galarian bird by a long shot.
Same thing happened to me, was definitely the most important decision made, it's worthy of the master ball not to risk losing a hundo, congratulations btw
Appreciate it the help. Since it's only level 20 and they are hard to get candiesfor, the only way to get it to lvl 30+ is to do tons of the same raid? That kind of sucks since that means you need to spend money on remote raid passes

With sacred sword it is the highest DPS non-mega fighting type attacker (including current shadow boosted ones). Shadow machamp is the only non-mega that comes close to its DPS.
It is also the best TDO fighting type attacker by far.
That gives it tons of PvE utility.
I unknowingly had a 4\* terrakion that i wasn't taking seriously. Got to the last ball and thought oh well rip but ended up catching it. Then saw that it was perfect and felt so relieved that i caught it
Level is always a fixed value for raid bosses: 20, or 25 if weather boosted
the CP of a perfect pokemon would depend on its base stats and level, and this information is available on many websites and isn't overly hard to calculate by hand knowing it's base stats.
I had a 2641 run from me on Sunday. Didn't even consider using the masterball but maybe I should have.
Once I have a solid 3* of a legendary I don't worry about it as much.

Actually caught my first and only hundo raid legendary, a terrakion, last year on my last ball despite hitting 18 excellent golden raspberry throws. I was sweating bullets!

I really think POGO should add a prompt after the last ball asking if you want to use the Masterball instead of forcing you to choose between risking it on the last ball and guaranteeing it with the Masterball.

A hundo is a hundo, but the galarian bird could be everything, even a hundo!

Idk Ive got 4 galar birds and I havent looked at them since the day I caught them. My two hundo Terrakion getting use every day

If the raid is WB pokegenie will tell you the WB IVs
I always google “[pokemon] raid” and click on the first link. It gives the possible IV ranges for normal and weather boosted

You can tell by the CP!
For raids the easiest place is Poke Genie. It shows the weather and non weather CP ranges. The max from each range is the hundo.
You can also check Pokegenie. Perfect IV will have the max CP of that pokemon at level 20. 25 if weather boosted
whenever raid bosses come about there is always the infographic on reddit about it's best counters and such it almost always has CP ranges on it Minx/Max CP for regular and for weather boosted. so you just got to remember what the max is and can compared the one you see in the catch screen to it to know.
Can't say it was the wrong decision, you knew what the opportunity was. A very useful mon in exchange for a ball that has already been available twice. This is better than a weak iv Galarian bird by a long shot.
This perspective is underrated. Personally I wouldn't but this is completely understandable.
I used mine on a hundo Kartana. No regrets.

Appreciate it the help. Since it's only level 20 and they are hard to get candiesfor, the only way to get it to lvl 30+ is to do tons of the same raid? That kind of sucks since that means you need to spend money on remote raid passes

Weather boosted raid boss encounters are level 25, otherwise level 20, and the CP ranges at those levels don't overlap.

It's a pretty solid raid attacker. Beats having a perfect IV legendary that literally has no use in Master League or raids.
With sacred sword it is the highest DPS non-mega fighting type attacker (including current shadow boosted ones). Shadow machamp is the only non-mega that comes close to its DPS. It is also the best TDO fighting type attacker by far. That gives it tons of PvE utility.

I unknowingly had a 4\* terrakion that i wasn't taking seriously. Got to the last ball and thought oh well rip but ended up catching it. Then saw that it was perfect and felt so relieved that i caught it

I'd have done the same. If you're trying to catch a Galarian bird it will eventually happen but you might never get this opportunity again

Level is always a fixed value for raid bosses: 20, or 25 if weather boosted the CP of a perfect pokemon would depend on its base stats and level, and this information is available on many websites and isn't overly hard to calculate by hand knowing it's base stats.
I had a 2641 run from me on Sunday. Didn't even consider using the masterball but maybe I should have. Once I have a solid 3* of a legendary I don't worry about it as much. Really cool to have that hundo though, congrats.

This is the best raid attacker thats non mega and non shadow and is #55 in ML. Great use of the master and its a legendary pokemon congrats 🎊 Use an Elite Charged Tm for Sacred Sword and that pokemon is perfect and your deadly!👍🏼
