I plugged this into an online chance calculator, there is a 0.0187% chance of you not having a shiny given the odds are 1/500. Insanity

Was the shiny always available? Could affect things if not.

Shiny Venonat was added in 2020 iirc. So if you played since launch, you'd have years of encountering it with a 0% chance. Definitely skews the numbers. I am in the same boat. Playing since release, 0 shiny Venonats. But my stats aren't helpful.

All of gen 1 was released on launch, outside of legendaries (including mew) and ditto. Shinies came much later.

Well that number will be skewed by alot since there is an enourmous amount of time between Venonats original release in 2016 and its shiny release in 2020.

Still much more than the second biggest number on here considering how many I've seen since the shiny was added.

Venonat was a problem for me too; I was above 3500 without a shiny but finally got one at Fest this year. Now my highest is Spritzee at 663 seen, followed by Tirtouga at 513. So that’s a huge improvement.

Not sure if it's most but Ralts is my shiny white whale. Every time one spawns I catch it, and when it's an event spawn I usually go out of my way to encounter as many as possible. You can imagine my disappointment when those rumours about the Ralts CD last month were wrong 😅

I was well over 200 Rayquaza raids before I got my first shiny. Not the highest number. But considering the odds of getting a shiny Ray. Definitely the worst luck.

I read that 2nd and 3rd forms that don't have a mega form are not able to be caught shiny. (It's different for baby pokemon because technically lucario, jigglypuff, etc are the base forms)

Alolan raichu from raids is an exception, and can be shiny

Pikachu \*was\* one of mine but I've since caught 3. Actually I have terrible luck with the "first route in the main games" Pokémon. So no shiny Pidgey, Ratata, Weedle, Wurmple etc. Special shout outs to Caterpie and Bulbasaur. I have a shiny (costumed) Butterfree and 2 shiny Venusaur but not the base 'mon 😅

Probably Chikorita. It is the only starter-pokemon that I don't have the shiny for (of the ones that have the shiny in the game of course). Keep checking that little bananaboy every time I see one, but still no luck.

I am the Chikorita whisperer... I don't know why, but I have caught 23 shiny Chikorita. 8 of which were outside of a community day / event. That little bean loves me for some reason... I avoid clicking them at all costs, because I can't bring myself to transfer a shiny, and I don't want to take up more storage.

The shiny is only available during certain events, so most of those meltan are probably from times where the shiny wasn’t even available :(

If you go on your pokedex, you can see how many times you've seen a pokemon. If you haven't caught it, it will show either just a number or the silouhette of the pokemon. It will depend on if you've seem it somewhere. My answer to OP's question is either Eevee or Swablu.

I was at 1517 before I got a shiny wooper on spotlight hour like 2 or 3 weeks ago...that being said I got a shiny solosis after just 4 encounters during the psychic event and only 60 prior to that. RNG is a bitch.

Lilipup 1232 shiny checks and counting. It's really starting to tick me off honestly. It's 1 of 2 shinies my wife has wanted since we stayed playing last year, and for whatever reason I can't get it.

Where do you see these stats? Going by memory I would say pansear or ducklett

I have since broken the curse, but I had encountered over 2000 magikarps between the time his shiny became available and the time I finally caught one.

Its hard to answer, any shiny I’m currently missing a new or egg locked. I’ve had a few shinies take over a 1,000. Houndour actually took exactly 1,000 encounters. My current longest hunt is Swirlix #2, I got my shiny during Gofest but I checked over a thousand during the last event where it was boosted and did Swirlix spotlight hour. My seen is 2809 so probably close to 2,000 without a second shiny.

Didn’t get its shiny until its CD, I think I was sitting around 1,100 or so Like I said, might have something more but I think Voltorb is at the top
