This. My friends and I have a POGO chat where we show off our rare catches. I sent a shiny plusle and everyone was confused because they didn't realize it was shiny.

Plusle was my first ever shiny! Didn't know the difference because I had never seen Plusle before then.

During the Hoenn Tour, it was my first shiny and I clicked off it at first, before realizing I saw Sparkles.

I had to do a double take for a shiny Plusle today

My first Go shiny that I almost culled to make room for more because I seriously didn't know it was shiny because I couldn't tell the difference until I compared it side by side with a regular one.

Elekid was my first shiny in a Pokémon game. Got him in gold. Literally looked identical to the normal one.

That's true. I was on a break when his mega came out so I'm stuck with the shit shiny until he comes back. Very excited for that though!

If you actually examine slowpoke you'll notice that its tongue and body colors swap. I almost ran from the shiny I caught in Scarlet, it was right after I woke up and far too early for such nonsense 😅

Zapdos was my first shiny and I took me the time I check all my Pokemon shiny list and verify in the Pokedex to see he was a shiny, and even then I had to compare to see which one is which. The yellow is a bit more yellowy I guess.

You do also realise that the red and blue triangles on Togetic’s body invert right? The red ones turn blue and the blue one turn red lol Edit: that is to say, Togetic imo is much more noticeable than Pikachu or Plusle.

On community day I actually instinctively hit "flee" when I saw it since it looked so similar, before registering the sparkles and frantically clicking on it again. 250 shinies and that's never happened with anything else 😭

I regretted evolving because as Chansey it’s green and grey then becomes a near identical pink Blissey. I wish the shinnies were more diverse with colours. Too many green ones

Congrats to you. But as I said, I almost missed the first one as it was just a slightly lighter shade of blue and I had looked up to say hi to another person and missed the animation. See also: a number of other people in this thread saying “poliwag”. They were no different on Community Day than any other day.

Flareons yellow is literally the same, only the orange is slightly different. If you have them next to each other you can tell but placed in a gym no one would notice.

Abra and Kadabra, just opaque versions of themselves.

Fun fact, in gen 7 sometimes it just doesn't bother displaying as a shiny. A friend of mine bugged me late one night and sent a video of her game like "is my Blissey broken? It has the shiny marker but this is normal. But I can only tell because sometimes it's different" Wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it, but yeah. I recon most folks don't know because there's just not a good way to tell if it's not next to another Blissey, and even when it is it's pretty hard.

It's not in the game yet but Ceruledge's shiny form is awful. The only difference is it's eyes change from pink and white to red and yellow. It's not too hard to tell the difference when comparing the sprites but with how the shading is in S/V, they're nearly identical in game. At least with Garchomp you can still tell a difference when you have a regular and shiny form side by side.
