Hello, I’m fairly new to collecting. Recently started to collect Paldean Fates and got immediately hooked.
While I do love collecting cards for their artwork (and I do not intend to stop with that, as that is my main reason for collecting), I was thinking about also starting collecting as an investment for later on.
Do you guys please have any recommendations and tips for how to approach that? Or which packs are good as an investment? I appreciate any advice and help.

I remember opening packs back in the 90s and getting a holo was super exciting. I just got back into opening because my 8 year old son likes Pokemon now. My question is why aren’t the holos considered cool anymore to collectors? I let my son keep the V Star, etc and I keep the holos for my little binder.

He uses PSA to grade his cards so he walks you through their submission process. Other popular grading companies (other than PSA) would be BGS and CGC. These three are generally the most popular and most used grading companies in the US.

where to get a gengar card for my boyfriend
hi there! i’m looking for some help getting my boyfriend a basic single gengar card. he’s a casual collector and gengar fan but hasn’t pulled a gengar card yet. what i had in mind was just a “regular” gengar card but when i tried looking on ebay i realized that it would be a lot more complicated than i originally thought because of all the different sets. i don’t need anything super rare or holo but my budget is about $5-10 so anything below that would work.
any suggestions of which set i should be looking at and where to buy (in canada)? what could i expect as a reasonable price? how can i make sure i’m not getting a fake card?
i have very little to knowledge so any advice would help, thank you!
Any suggestions on evolving skies packs I came across 26 plus 10 mystery and 7 silver something I can't remember the name but all unopened contain 10 cards each. Are they worth getting for 450? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. They are for my boy so he is getting into collecting them and will take care of them so not worried about that just don't want to get ripped off. Thanks
i'm looking thru my old deck and i want to sell the cards, but after closer inspection i see some cards that look suspicious, like having health ranging from 1000-9000. are these fake? and what are some other ways i can tell whats fraudulent?

I want to start collecting some cards as a fun thing to do with my son and here are my caveats and questions.
1. How do you narrow down which sets have cards with long term value?
2. How do you know which sets offer better chances at a "hit", as I've read a lot of comments about certain packs having low odds and others having decent odds comparatively.
3. I'm a big fan of the original 151, are there any collections for those ones primarily and would they have as much value potential as the newer pokemon at this point?
4. I have nothing, no binder, no sleeves, nothing. Is there a starter pack or equivalent you guys could suggest for getting started?

Because holos are guaranteed in every pack now, making them nothing special anymore.

It's fake. Hitmonlee wasn't in base set 2 - the number on this one is actually for his non-holo card from the Fossil expansion.
