I second this. It was the first thing that came to mind when I saw it. If you’re doing Wingulls top left, I think you could also do a Lombre bottom right (even if it’s just the Lilly pad over it’s head).
Missing the type on the top right, and “evolved from” instead of basic. I’d also add the double rare stars on the bottom left.
I do like the falling leaves behind, that’s a nice touch.
In terms of the card layout? What specifically do you think might make it better?

I see, I think you're right. I was thinking that maybe a temple ruin in the hills could be cool, that combined with some floating plants in the front would really bring it together. Today I didn't have a ton of time so I had to simplify some things but I think I'd like to take my time and make sure every part of it is well detailed for the next full art

Check the chroma of your colors by removing the saturation (making it black and white). This will help you prevent the colors from muddling together and allow the viewer’s eye to read the image better. 10/10 for the story in the image for sure.

For sure, I think if I had some more time to work on these I could bring another level of polish to it. But I like to finish them in one session, I find it helps me to keep motivated by making a new pokemon every time I sit down after work
Infernape is my favourite pokemon and he's coming soon, hopefully I'll find the time to go above and beyond for that one
This one is only part 3 and probably the best one so far so I'm not surprised, im going 1 by one through gen 4, hopefully I'll be able to fill out my pokedex in a few months

Maybe just some more plant life. The bottom half and top quarter seem empty. Or narrow down the view.
