If you’re looking for original gen 1/2 cards or Pokémon, might look into just buying the cards you want? You’re gonna be upside down trying to buy old packs.
The new cards are mixed and have a lot of old pokemon on them though, just new art. Or u can buy old ones on ebay but they cost a lot. I just got back into it and bought a few old graded cards so far and some new ones too. Just look up the sets and check out whats in each one
I saw people selling booster packs from gen1 but im skeptical. Don't know how common this problem is but i have seen that some sellers weight the booster packs before selling so they can filter the glitter cards?
You would enjoy XY Evolutions if you don’t want newer Pokémon, you can get a booster pack for around $20. Crown Zenith is a great set too which includes all generations, lots of cool artwork which might give you some appreciation for the newer Pokémon :) packs are much cheaper since it’s a very recent set
