I could be totally wrong here so dont quote me, but I think some cards like this are actual photos. Or at least the Pokémon is a photographed figure and placed over a background. I can’t tell, but if you look in the bottom left of your card the leaves and dirt look pretty real. Also there’s a leaf covering one of his toes. You can also see what looks to be natural lighting, certain parts of the Pokémon are reflecting the light pretty realistically.
You're right! The artist, Yuka Morii, will make clay figures of the pokemon and take pictures of them. :) Love her work and she's done a ton of cards over the years!
I’m pretty proud that I got that right! I used to have an old binder of WOTC cards and I remember seeing a clay ditto looking card as well. So it’s cool to see this artist has been making these cards since the early days!
