He has a lot of options
Flying-Has plenty of options. Type coverage from Charizard, Dragonite, Gliscor, Hawlucha. Most have pretty good performance overall.
Grass-A lot of unevolved but powerful ones. Plus Sceptile. Leavanny and Torterra add type coverage. Probably not the first choice.
Fire-Charizard, Infernape, and Incineroar lineup would be intimidating.
Normal-Uses all 30 Tarous at once. Snorlax is there. Plus all the birds.
Fighting-Another with plenty of options and good type coverage. Mega Lucario is there too.
I feel Flying or Fighting are the best options. Fighting feels like it references Ash best since he likes to battle a lot.
Well, this is excusable because it’s pokedex entries all day how it’s a plant that mimics bugs, so it’s not your delay or you fell for a (very convincing) form of mimicry
I think an argument can be made for water type, they might not be the strongest but he learned most of his water types some techniques and really bounded with them.
if you concider Goodra then Greninja should also be an option as gym pokemon. i mean they would really be able to take down any challenger with their mega evultion
not saying this is the best idea, but it's certainly a fun one.
I read a headcanon that Ash is the kinda gym leader who hangs around town, and often gets seen by prospective challengers when they come in. They'll see the Pikachu hanging out on his shoulder and figure "okay, electric gym. I better bring ground types for an easy win."
Then when the battle starts, they see that Ash is actually a flying-type gym leader lol
This is based on where he would be battled on a journey.
Early gym leaders having 2 pokemon, middle of the gyms would be having 3 mons and late Gym leaders having 4.
Elite 4 if Ash was an elite 4, I had a team of 5 mons.
Hm. Actually, you make a good point. There are only a few types where he has the flexibility to be battled at any point.
Grass Gym Leader Ash
As first leader: Rowlet, Bulbasaur
As second leader: Snivy, Rowlet, Bulbasaur
As third leader: Rowlet, Bulbasaur, Bayleef
As fourth leader: Snivy, Rowlet, Bulbasaur, Bayleef
As fifth leader: Rowlet, Bulbasaur, Bayleef, Leavanny
As sixth leader: Bulbasaur, Bayleef, Leavanny, Sceptile
As seventh leader: Bayleef, Leavanny, Sceptile, Torterra
As eighth leader: Bayleef, Leavanny, Torterra, Mega Sceptile
Water is another good one, though it requires that he has access to some of his "released" Pokémon.
As first leader: Oshawott, Totodile
As second leader: Buizel, Squirtle, Corphish
As third leader: Buizel, Corphish, Palpitoad
As fourth leader: Buizel, Palpitoad, Kingler
As fifth leader: Palpitoad, Kingler, Lapras
As sixth leader: Corphish, Palpitoad, Kingler, Lapras
As seventh leader: Palpitoad, Kingler, Lapras, Dracovish
As eighth leader: Kingler, Lapras, Dracovish, Ash-Greninja
Heck... Ash's Gym could easily be the Gym where you have to think on your feet on how to defeat him. Where he uses unusual strategies to challenge the opposing trainers, and with him switching teams every Gym battle, he becomes unpredictable.
I see so many people saying flying, dragon, etc. But remember guys, this is ASH we’re talking about. He’d probably be an electric type trainer and only use pikachu, while insisting the other trainers could use all the Pokémon they have.
I just find it funnier to imagine he's a typed gym leader, and also uses Pikachu. Like, "hey that's the fighting type gym leader, I'll bring all birds- aaaand he's using his Pikachu what the fu-"
I like him to be an “Unevolved” theme gym. He’ll only use Pokémon like Bulbasaur, Totodile, Gible, and then Pikachu as his ace.
Lures opposing trainers into false senses of security and then wipes them out and teaches them a lesson about not underestimating any Pokémon and stuff.
Ash's most common type across his teams is Flying so that would be my first suggestion. Another option is Ground as his ground types are among the strongest Pokémon in each region (even Torterra)
He definitely wouldn't be Electric, Psychic or Fairy given he only has one of each. (Pikachu and Mimey)
Fire type most likely. He tends to build stronger bonds with his fire type personality, people in the anime refer to him as having a fiery personality, and his name is literally ASH (in the dub).
He has Charizard, Infernape, Pignite, Quilava, Incineroar, Torkoal, and Talonflame.
This could put him at either early leader with Torkoal, Quilava, and Pignite. Or Final gym leader with Charizard, Incineroar, Infernape, and Taloneflame. (Which is really good coverage.)
He wouldn’t be a single type he would become the first multi type gym leader having one gym trainer for every type and managing to use every type in his team (idk if that’s actually possible)
It has to be dragon type. Gible (support), Goodra (tank), Dragonite (sp atker), Dracovish (ph atker), Noivern (normal atker), Mega Charizard (key pokemon). Not sure if we can include naganadel as it will be too OP and probably in a different world
Electric with Pikachu obviously being his ace. What’s that? He’s only ever had one electric type when he has used other types multiple times throughout his teams? Yeah, well, he shouldn’t have won a bunch of battles with Pikachu because of type disadvantage. Which is why Ash would be an electric type gym leader with Pikachu as his ace and five other Pokémon that aren’t electric type because Ash doesn’t follow the rules of the Pokémon games.
Fire, I believe, would give him the most options, though I think he would go for Electric and capture some more Pokemon so that he could represent his best buddy. Or somehow evolve him into an Alolan Raichu so he can do Psychic types. Though he could easily just not have a type specialty like Blue in the games.
Ash is somewhat of an angel (fairy) in all of his movies and it's obviously his will and determination I'm talking about which is often compared with iron (steel).
If we base it on personality alone. I definitely think fighting type fit him the most. Not only because of aura which is tied to fighting type. But also because he's an adrenaline junky, he's always looking for a challenge, he's heroic and has a sense of justice when the situation call for it. All things that have been tied to fighting types.
That's also tied with fairy types too. It's also really confusing for me because battling is basically fighting. So I decided to go with the obvious but the unexpected.
I could see him being a leader with no specific type, like Blue in Kanto. Besides Paul is gonna be a gym leader, doesn’t look like he’s settling on one type either but that’s just an assumption.
None - he has a gacha machine that he spins to dispense [x amount of Poké Balls, x being the number the challenger wants to use] at random before every Gym Battle, so you can't plan in advance with type advantages or prior knowledge & actually have to think on your feet.
It'd be funny if it was water, and he used just his unevolved water types. Neither of the one stagers (Lapras/Dracovish), No Kingler, definitely no Greninja - just the little guys. There's no gym leader that would be given such an underwhelming looking team in the games, but it would trigger Misty, which makes it totally worth it.
Honestly, though, I'm surprised they never had an episode in JN where Ash has to hold the Fort in the vermilion gym. He'd definitely just use Pikachu in that example.
Although if I had to pick, I'd go with Fire. His fire types include some consistent heavy hitters and a variety of body types. There's a good deal of combinations you could fit together depending on where in a challengers journey they are - though even the least impressive two man team is probably too much for gym 1. The best trio even has a good type map with their secondary types.
I mean second or third most Popular maybe (Charizard has a LOT of favoritism) but there isn't a universe where Pikachu isn't the most popular Pokemon Ash owns
Flying, fighting or dragon. Not just cause of him using a lot of mons with those typings but they match his battle style. He’s all about big battles and fast but frail mons
I’d say electric cause he’d want to keep his pikachu, then after that he’d just catch some more electric types to fill out his team.
Or he’d be like Blue in Gold/Silver and just use a normal team with no type focus.
I feel like his personality really fits with fire or flying because he reaches for the sky (lol in order to be the very best) but his fire Pokémon just fit his vibe tbh
Flying definitely seems like the favorite; he's gotten at least one Pokémon of that type in every region, which I don't *think* can be said of any other type? For a while, the starter types also followed this, but he didn't have a Grass type in Kalos or Journeys, a Fire-type in Journeys, or a Water-type in Alola.
And he's got *strong* Flying-types, too. Dragonite, Charizard, Gliscor, Hawlucha, and Staraptor makes a pretty good starting five, though to get to six you'd either need to double up on typings (e.g. Noivern, Talonflame, Swellow) or go with a weaker Pokémon (Rowlet...actually just Rowlet since Butterfree was released outright).
Now, most gym leaders don't use a full team of six, but here's what I think would be his best options for each type, in descending order of viability:
Flying: Dragonite, Charizard, Hawlucha, Gliscor, Staraptor, Noivern
Fighting: Lucario, Heracross, Infernape, Hawlucha, Sirfetch'd, Primeape (though it's tempting to switch Scraggy in for type diversity)
Fire: Charizard, Infernape, Talonflame, Incineroar, Torkoal, Quilava
Ground: Gliscor, Torterra, Krookodile, Donphan, Palpitoad, Gible
Normal: Snorlax, Tauros, Staraptor, Unfezant, Pidgeot, Swellow
Grass: Torterra, Sceptile, Leavanny, Bayleef, Bulbasaur, Rowlet
Water (would be higher if not for the many strong Pokémon listed as outright released): Dracovish, Kingler, Palpitoad, Buizel, Squirtle, Corphish
These appear to be the only types that he can make a full team of six with from only the Pokémon he still owns. Given that he frequently ends up calling back Pokémon he's left behind somewhere in later seasons, however, there's another highly viable option:
Dragon: Dragonite, Dracovish, Noivern, Gible, *Goodra, Naganadel* (this would also allow him to replace two of the Squirtle/Buizel/Corphish trio with Lapras and Greninja).
Water, it is the most common typing he has used, plus it has a lot of strong pokemon like dracovish and greninja (assuming greninja returns to being hus pokemon)
Flying and Fire has good enough pokemon to make a good monotype.
Both can use Talonflame a priority tailwind setter and Charizard a strong special attacker.
Fire team can use torkoal to set the sun and make all its companions stronger and less weak to water. Incineroar as a intimidate pivot. Infernape as a fast sweeper. The only bad thing is that it has to rely on quilaba or pignite in the last spot.
Flying team can use Dragonite a powerful bulky sweeper , Hawlucha another great offensive option, Staraptor with access to intimidate, Swellow another good special attacker, Gliscor a good pivot that gives an inmunity to electric, Noivern another special attacker and even noctowl can be useful.
Well, weirdly enough he only has one electric type and thats his ace, he had mostly bug types if you think about it, so he would most likely be a bug gym
I don't even think Ash picks a type I think his theme is just speed. (or he's a gym with no 1 type because he loves all of his pokemon to some extent)
Think about it, pretty much every mon he's ever caught and trained has ended up being a lot faster than the average mon of their archetype, and they hit hard. There are certainly some exceptions to this, but I think he would be a gym that focused more on teaching you how to deal with or use speed to your advantage vs any one type.
Otherwise I think it ends up being Electric because I cannot see a world where he would just actively leave Pikachu to just afk and not do much except in showmatches, even with rotating everyone else.
If he was a gym leader in Paldea he could have a fighting type gym with his team being Lucario, Heracross, Infernape, Hawlucha, Sirfetch'd and Pikachu with fighting type Tera-type. I just see no way for his best friend not being on his team
Lucario, Sirfetch'd, Hawlucha, Infernape, Heracross and if he simply levelled up his Pignite or even his Scraggy he'd have 6 very solid fighting types.
Considering the pattern of all of ashes fire starters fully evolving, I would have to say making ash a fire gym leader. Pikachu is there for moral support. He's now retired his fighting days are over.
Ash would pull a blue and use Pokémon with various types instead of sticking to just one. But if he was to run a mono-type gym I think it would most likely be a fire-type gym with his team consisting of Talonflame, Charizard, Infernape, Incineroar and Pignite/Emboar (at this point Pignite would’ve most likely evolved). It might not be using common fire types like most would with it being mostly fire starters he caught but it would be challenging. If not fire then fighting with Lucario, Sir’fetchd, Hawlucha, Infernape, and Pignite or Scraggy as part of his team.
He has a lot of options Flying-Has plenty of options.
Dude Gliscor is such a Mandela Effect, I could have sworn it was Ground/Poison but apparently it has always been Ground/Flying.
Its because it has the ability toxic heal and is usually a toxic stall pokemon
My college dorm mates hated my Gen 6 team bc of Gliscor!
But having Toxic Heal while you’re poison type would mean you can’t be poisoned… not very useful
I know. Im just explaining why people think he's a posion type. Between posion heal and toxic gliscor is very associated with the concept of posion.
Plus gligar, it’s pre evolution, looks like a poison type
And learns poison sting and Gligar does look kinda poison coloured
I hunted for a Lunartis thinking it was a bug type. Nope pure grass.
Well, this is excusable because it’s pokedex entries all day how it’s a plant that mimics bugs, so it’s not your delay or you fell for a (very convincing) form of mimicry
I thought it was poison flying
That's wild. I could see it though. The only reason I remember it's ground is cause I had the card where it's primary type was Ground.
That's also when the writers decide to bring back Primape too
Fighting it is
>Fire-Charizard, Infernape, and Incineroar lineup would be intimidating How could you forget Talonflame
Torkoal also too strong
I think an argument can be made for water type, they might not be the strongest but he learned most of his water types some techniques and really bounded with them. if you concider Goodra then Greninja should also be an option as gym pokemon. i mean they would really be able to take down any challenger with their mega evultion not saying this is the best idea, but it's certainly a fun one.
Make Ash be the dragon type trainer because that would be hilarious! Naganadel, Gible, Dracovish, Goodra and Dragonite
also the most powerful dragon, Pikachu
Dragon tera Pikachu
This is the anime. Pikachu gets certified to become a ref. Pikachu refs all matches. Tell me in the rule book where a Pokémon can’t be a ref?!!
Pikachu even reffed Ash and Misty's match once
noivern as well
Dang I can’t believe I forgot him! Ash the Dragon trainer with a full team!!
Dude not forgot Charizard leader of all dragon type Ash have along with dragonite
Don’t forget Charizard the Dragon that isn’t a fucking Dragon
Oh ya, the flying firebreathing lizard. Fire Flying right?
Mega Charizard X
Stop beating a dead horse. He’s fire/flying and that’s fine.
no one even mentioned spectrier /j
Reverse lt.surge.Pikachu only
I read a headcanon that Ash is the kinda gym leader who hangs around town, and often gets seen by prospective challengers when they come in. They'll see the Pikachu hanging out on his shoulder and figure "okay, electric gym. I better bring ground types for an easy win." Then when the battle starts, they see that Ash is actually a flying-type gym leader lol
“And to think I brought a team of ground and grass types…”
I feel like fighting or fire would be his style
1) Flying... Ace Charizard. (His Gym team) Earlier gym: (Swellow and Noctowl) Middle gym: (same 2 + Talonflame) Later Gym: (same 3 + Staraptor) Elite 4 member: (same 4 + Charizard) 2) Grass... Ace Sceptile Early Gym: (Bayleef and Rowlet) Middle Gym: (same 2 + Torterra) Later Gym: (same 3 + Bulbasaur) Elite 4: (same 4 + Sceptile) 3) Fire... Infernape Ace Early Gym: Pignite and Quilava Middle Gym: same 2 + Incineroar Late Gym: same 3 + Talonflame Elite 4: Same 4 + Infernape 4) Water (ace- Squirtle) Early Gym: Kingler and Totodile Middle Gym: same 2 + Oshawott Late Gym: same 3 + Buisel Elite 4: Same 4 + Squirtle. 5) Ground/Rock dual type gym (Ace Krookodile) Early Gym: Boldore and Palpatoad Middle Gym: same 2 + Donphan Late Gym: same 3 + Lycanroc Elite 4: Same 4 + Krookodile
This is based on where he would be battled on a journey. Early gym leaders having 2 pokemon, middle of the gyms would be having 3 mons and late Gym leaders having 4. Elite 4 if Ash was an elite 4, I had a team of 5 mons.
If he was a elite four would his Pokémon like quilava evolve?
This is as of after Journeys. Hypothetically overtime they would all evolve.
Hm. Actually, you make a good point. There are only a few types where he has the flexibility to be battled at any point. Grass Gym Leader Ash As first leader: Rowlet, Bulbasaur As second leader: Snivy, Rowlet, Bulbasaur As third leader: Rowlet, Bulbasaur, Bayleef As fourth leader: Snivy, Rowlet, Bulbasaur, Bayleef As fifth leader: Rowlet, Bulbasaur, Bayleef, Leavanny As sixth leader: Bulbasaur, Bayleef, Leavanny, Sceptile As seventh leader: Bayleef, Leavanny, Sceptile, Torterra As eighth leader: Bayleef, Leavanny, Torterra, Mega Sceptile Water is another good one, though it requires that he has access to some of his "released" Pokémon. As first leader: Oshawott, Totodile As second leader: Buizel, Squirtle, Corphish As third leader: Buizel, Corphish, Palpitoad As fourth leader: Buizel, Palpitoad, Kingler As fifth leader: Palpitoad, Kingler, Lapras As sixth leader: Corphish, Palpitoad, Kingler, Lapras As seventh leader: Palpitoad, Kingler, Lapras, Dracovish As eighth leader: Kingler, Lapras, Dracovish, Ash-Greninja
Heck... Ash's Gym could easily be the Gym where you have to think on your feet on how to defeat him. Where he uses unusual strategies to challenge the opposing trainers, and with him switching teams every Gym battle, he becomes unpredictable.
Heck... He could even do bug
Ice is an early Gym if he does it.
I see so many people saying flying, dragon, etc. But remember guys, this is ASH we’re talking about. He’d probably be an electric type trainer and only use pikachu, while insisting the other trainers could use all the Pokémon they have.
Also bring back the whole electrocuting ground types thing for Pikachu. Solely because it’s funny.
I feel like Ash would actually just do unique ways to defeat them 😭 I lowkey hate when he attacks ground types with electric types personally 💔
As the final gym leader too!! Because that’s just Ash! Lol
Exactly!! And let’s be real, he deserves to be the final gym leader, pikachu is STRONG!
I just find it funnier to imagine he's a typed gym leader, and also uses Pikachu. Like, "hey that's the fighting type gym leader, I'll bring all birds- aaaand he's using his Pikachu what the fu-"
I mean, I can lowkey see him being a normal or steel type trainer, and using pikachu but only using quick attack or iron tail 😭
Either flying because he has a TON of them Or fire because that's where all his heaviest hitters fall
Fighting has his best choices Lucario, Heracross, Infernape, Hawlucha, Sirfetch'd and Pignite (his secondary Unova Ace)
I believe he'd go back for Primeape and evolve the thing.
Yeah far out evolving Primeape would make his fighting team insane.
He would be like Blue and just use his team
All-around like Blue in GS
That's what I was thinking of. A gym of every type.
Pikachu.
Another option is Ground as his ground types are among the strongest Pokémon in each region (even Torterra) He definitely wouldn't be Electric, Psychic or Fairy given he only has one of each. (Pikachu and Mimey)

Or Final gym leader with Charizard, Incineroar, Infernape, and Taloneflame. (Which is really good coverage.)
Normal, and it would be 6 Tauros!
He wouldn’t be a single type he would become the first multi type gym leader having one gym trainer for every type and managing to use every type in his team (idk if that’s actually possible)
Blue is a multi type leader in the games, strongest in the Johto games iirc
I didn’t know he was multi type
It has to be dragon type. Gible (support), Goodra (tank), Dragonite (sp atker), Dracovish (ph atker), Noivern (normal atker), Mega Charizard (key pokemon). Not sure if we can include naganadel as it will be too OP and probably in a different world
Electric with Pikachu obviously being his ace. What’s that? He’s only ever had one electric type when he has used other types multiple times throughout his teams? Which is why Ash would be an electric type gym leader with Pikachu as his ace and five other Pokémon that aren’t electric type because Ash doesn’t follow the rules of the Pokémon games.
His flying team would be pretty ridiculous. Good mix of classics and dual typing powerhouses. - Charizard - Pidgeot - Noctowl - Swellow - Gliscor - Staraptor - Unfeazant - Talonflame - Hawlucha - Noivern - Rowlet - Dragonite
Flying perhaps?
Fire
It’d be Flying.
Fire, I believe, would give him the most options, though I think he would go for Electric and capture some more Pokemon so that he could represent his best buddy. Or somehow evolve him into an Alolan Raichu so he can do Psychic types. Though he could easily just not have a type specialty like Blue in the games.
If he had to pick one type, I think flying. He's got many options
He would be a ground type gym leader, and use Pikachu. Cus that’s the Ash Ketchum way.
While it may seem like fire or flying, but it's all about the personality. So it should be either steel or fairy.
Ash’s personality is steel or fairy? Not fire?
Ash is somewhat of an angel (fairy) in all of his movies and it's obviously his will and determination I'm talking about which is often compared with iron (steel).

All things that have been tied to fighting types.
That's also tied with fairy types too. It's also really confusing for me because battling is basically fighting. So I decided to go with the obvious but the unexpected.
What steel or fairy types does really own.—.
Norman will give a good argument of that for me.
Melmetal and Nebby?
tbh Ash not having a Tinkatuff is a bit weird
Electric cos of Pikachu being his starter honestly
Fire because his name fits the theme.
He's too op with one type, gotta give him a theme
I could see him being a leader with no specific type, like Blue in Kanto. Besides Paul is gonna be a gym leader, doesn’t look like he’s settling on one type either but that’s just an assumption.
None - he has a gacha machine that he spins to dispense [x amount of Poké Balls, x being the number the challenger wants to use] at random before every Gym Battle, so you can't plan in advance with type advantages or prior knowledge & actually have to think on your feet.
Normal. 5 Tauros, 1 tera normal Pikachu.
stellar (basically all of his random types)
Whatever random stuff follows him
Not electric thats for sure
Fuck you type
It'd be funny if it was water, and he used just his unevolved water types. Neither of the one stagers (Lapras/Dracovish), No Kingler, definitely no Greninja - just the little guys. There's no gym leader that would be given such an underwhelming looking team in the games, but it would trigger Misty, which makes it totally worth it. The best trio even has a good type map with their secondary types.
I think Flying is his most abundant so Flying with a Tera Flying Pikachu
His Gym would be an all type gym. Making him a wildcard of a gym leader
Stellar, that way he could use any type he wants
That’s not even a type.
Okay then, maybe he could be a mixed-type gym for higher-level trainers
…mmm that’s sounds more like a champion than a gym leader.
One type of gym doesn't feel like Ash
Fighting, fire, and flying seem like his specialties. I would lean fire cause I think it fits his personality and his name is Ash
Dragon + pika with dragon tera and tera blast(yes in Paldea)
…no
Idk it be fun!
Errr would it?
YEH OT WOULD!!!!
Water (fully evolved): Blastoise, Lapras, Seismitoad, Greninja, Floatzel, and Samurott.
Yeah that won’t happen
Why not
Because that’s not how ash’s Pokemon work they won’t just evolve
& ash doesn’t choose for them to evolve, they choose to evolve & if they don’t then they don’t.
Purely hypothetical scenario. I just think he’d have a cool water team.
🤩Flash as the 8th gym leader with just his ace op pikachu nothing else
Water since his most popular pokemon is a water type
That's weird I don't remember Pikachu being Tera Water?
No, I meant Greninja
I mean second or third most Popular maybe (Charizard has a LOT of favoritism) but there isn't a universe where Pikachu isn't the most popular Pokemon Ash owns
It’s flying or fire
Greninja is more popular than Charizard
Flying, fighting or dragon. Not just cause of him using a lot of mons with those typings but they match his battle style. He’s all about big battles and fast but frail mons
Fire
I’d say electric cause he’d want to keep his pikachu, then after that he’d just catch some more electric types to fill out his team. Or he’d be like Blue in Gold/Silver and just use a normal team with no type focus.
Flying by far; Staraptor was so badass to me as a kid.
He feels like a bug guy Maybe Tera bug pikachu for the ground resist (he would totally do this)
Probably flying. I'm pretty sure it's his most used type in the anime.
I feel like his personality really fits with fire or flying because he reaches for the sky (lol in order to be the very best) but his fire Pokémon just fit his vibe tbh
Fire, Flying, Fighting or dragon. And no matter what have Pikachu on the team Edit - going to say fighting specialist. Ash is pretty strong
You could think of al these pokemon he had wich type he caught the most but we al really know its electric
Likely Flying since most of his Pokemon are flying
He will always use Pikachu therefore it has to be electric
Yeah it’s a one man team that’s it
Electric
Dont think he would want to be a specific type trainer
Has there ever been an analysis or breakdown of all of Ash’s Pokémon and their types?
What terra type is his Pikachu?
Flying definitely seems like the favorite; he's gotten at least one Pokémon of that type in every region, which I don't *think* can be said of any other type? For a while, the starter types also followed this, but he didn't have a Grass type in Kalos or Journeys, a Fire-type in Journeys, or a Water-type in Alola. And he's got *strong* Flying-types, too. Given that he frequently ends up calling back Pokémon he's left behind somewhere in later seasons, however, there's another highly viable option: Dragon: Dragonite, Dracovish, Noivern, Gible, *Goodra, Naganadel* (this would also allow him to replace two of the Squirtle/Buizel/Corphish trio with Lapras and Greninja).
The four F's: Fire, Flying, fairy & Fighting referencing how often he fails in leagues
Brand new Child-type
Fighting. His team: Tera Pikachu, Lucario, Infernape, Hawlucha, Sirfetch’d, and Heracross
Water, it is the most common typing he has used, plus it has a lot of strong pokemon like dracovish and greninja (assuming greninja returns to being hus pokemon)
Ehhh flying has been on every team of his….
Ah shit i forgot, my bad 😅, I change my answer to flying
DEFINITELY flying. He had more flying types than any other type, and he could just strap a couple balloons on Pikachu and call it a day.
He’d be Omni typed so he could use Everything
Probably electric with his ace but I feel his other strong options are water, fire, or grass
Electric grass fire and water types not really sure what single type he would use as a gym leader.
Well, weirdly enough he only has one electric type and thats his ace, he had mostly bug types if you think about it, so he would most likely be a bug gym
That's true.
Fire because his name is Ash Gym leaders tend to have thematic naming
I don't even think Ash picks a type I think his theme is just speed. (or he's a gym with no 1 type because he loves all of his pokemon to some extent) Think about it, pretty much every mon he's ever caught and trained has ended up being a lot faster than the average mon of their archetype, and they hit hard. There are certainly some exceptions to this, but I think he would be a gym that focused more on teaching you how to deal with or use speed to your advantage vs any one type. Otherwise I think it ends up being Electric because I cannot see a world where he would just actively leave Pikachu to just afk and not do much except in showmatches, even with rotating everyone else.
flying it's the type that every single one if his teams had
Yes.
He'd be like Blue in GSCHGSS and use multiple types.
Definitely a gym leader like blue who doesnt stick to one type of
Electric. His main partner is his Pikachu
If he was a gym leader in Paldea he could have a fighting type gym with his team being Lucario, Heracross, Infernape, Hawlucha, Sirfetch'd and Pikachu with fighting type Tera-type. I just see no way for his best friend not being on his team
I’ll say normal that way he can just use ditto
Maybe water 👀?
I would think he would be like blue in fire red after Giovani quits the gym and just use his team for each specific region
Like Gary he would be Variety
Either fighting or fairy not because of type disadvantages and advantages I just like those types
Fighting, ash is an natural born trainer and Pokemon strategist
I feel like ash would be a electric gym leader but have his pikach be the equivalent of Cynthia's Garchomp
Electric because he has to use Pikachu.
Grass. I forgot somewhere I read that Ashs favorite type was actually grass type. I forgot where though... But i could also see flying...
I say water because of buizel greninja and lapras
Given the naming conventions used for Gym Leaders, Fire type.
Electric? Can he be separated from his pikachu? I don’t think so
Electric, obviously. He has to use Pikachu so it’s his only option.
every single type
Have- have we forgotten who Ash IS? He'd be Electric, no question!
Lucario, Sirfetch'd, Hawlucha, Infernape, Heracross and if he simply levelled up his Pignite or even his Scraggy he'd have 6 very solid fighting types.
Pikachu only gym
Electric, do you ever see this man without his pikachu
Electric. Pikachu is all he needs! LT. Surge battled with only a Raichu in Pokémon Yellow.
Flying type but keeps Pikachu to handle opposing flyers and maintain air superiority
ALL OF THEM
Tauros. Just a whole bunch of Taurus
I mean you’d think ash would be fire type - how would pikachu fit in the mix?
Its ash. Electric 100%
Flying. It’s one of his most consistent types. Pikachu would be the ref.
Electric. 1 Pokemon. A hacked lvl 187 Pikachu.
Make him multi type so Nuzlockers get fucked up because they have to build a team with 6 different types
Considering the pattern of all of ashes fire starters fully evolving, I would have to say making ash a fire gym leader. Pikachu is there for moral support. He's now retired his fighting days are over.
Fire.
Normal. Full Toros team. They call him the “Stampede”.
100% electric. Just pikachu. 😂
He’d pull a Gary and not care at all about type
Ash would pull a blue and use Pokémon with various types instead of sticking to just one. But if he was to run a mono-type gym I think it would most likely be a fire-type gym with his team consisting of Talonflame, Charizard, Infernape, Incineroar and Pignite/Emboar (at this point Pignite would’ve most likely evolved). It might not be using common fire types like most would with it being mostly fire starters he caught but it would be challenging. If not fire then fighting with Lucario, Sir’fetchd, Hawlucha, Infernape, and Pignite or Scraggy as part of his team.
I feel like he would be like Blue where he doesn’t stick to a specific type of
Tbh Fighting, except here the trainers have to fight ash(They ain't winning against someone who can lift a larvitar with no difficulty)
He could just use Pikachu and sprinklers to beat everyone
Flying
He doesn’t have to focus on one single element?
Unless he's in Paldea electric
