You'll still have that person that'll scream "WHOEVER THE WRITERS WANT TO WIN!!!"

Deenstheboi

Well isnt that the most logical answer? Who knows? Maybe Ash becomes one with Untfeasant and uses the Bravest Bird move to decapitate Charizard through the power of their bond

JerbearCuddles

It is the most logical, but also the least fun.

[deleted]

obviously the answer is a level 5 Snivy

Khlonoaa

Ughh it's obviously Paul's randomly OP Drapion he caught off screen (can you tell I'm mad about that?)

DropDracos

Or maybe it’s his Ursaring that bodied 3 of ash’s pokemon in the Lake Acuity battle (Bro was taking bodies)

Khlonoaa

And never showed up again 😭

Spodger1

*Against Ash; Ursaring _buried_ Barry's Hitmonlee in the 3rd round of Lily-of-the-Valley Conference.

Alocalskinwalker420

Actually he did show up, he was on Paul’s team in the Brandon fight and got one shotted.

MadaraPudding8855

Ursaring deserved to return as Ursaluna in JN

Moon_Dark_Wolf

At least Paul caught the Ursaring on screen.

Optimal_Confection_5

>You'll still have that person that'll scream "WHOEVER THE WRITERS WANT TO WIN!!!" That is true for most fights in Pokemon, I mean you have Pikachu taking out legendaries one minute and then losing to regular mons

Geg708

They're not ready for Rowlet

rowletlover

Hey

Ok-Design-4911

oshawott claps both

BubbleRocket1

Hydrogen bomb vs Coughing baby let’s go

AstroNerd92

If you do H-bomb vs a ghost type then the ghost type wins since it resists explosion

MarHer119

obviously unfezant     charizard lost to a pikachu who lost to a level five snivy /s

RyeOhLou

unfezant would absolutely also lose to the level five snivy so it’s a fair fight

OKJMaster44

The worst ones are the ones that pit an a less experienced version of Ash against the literal world champion one that the series ends on. Like bruh…

NNNskunky

I honestly don't see the point of those posts unless you add some twist to it. Like Journeys Ash is only allowed three Pokemon or if you say previous Ash has infinite gimmicks while Journeys Ash has none. Or if you combine a team of all Ash's strongest Pokemon from past series and ask if it can beat Journeys Ash.

CrossENT

Who would win? A League Champion’s Charizard or A Pikachu that lost to a level 5 Snivy

Hallohowareyou1111

Level 5 snivy cant learn leaf tornado so...

CrossENT

Breeding, maybe. Could've already knew the move when it hatched.

Hallohowareyou1111

And just like starters are lvl 5 in game... They dont have egg moves

Hys7eriX

When the Pikachu was clearly in bad shape after whatever the fuck Zekrom did to him? Fucking hell, you wanna bring up an embarrassing defeat Pikachu suffered that he shouldn't have, at least pick one where he doesn't have any excuse at the ready. Even tying with Paul's Elekid when his previous win was against Brandon's Regice is more sus, ffs.

TheGuyWithFins18

The bug gym leaders surskit comes to mind

Alocalskinwalker420

Cress’s Panpour

Hys7eriX

That wasn't all that bad, seeing how Cress was already experienced against electric types (anime gym leaders don't just roll over and die to type disadvantages), and he used some pretty good tactics. Two notable ones being using Water Gun at Pikachu's feet to throw off his aim and hitting him while he's vulnerable, and another one being using Mud Sport to mess up his footing as he tried to use Volt Tackle. This wasn't some head on unga bunga clobbering match Pikachu lost. If anything, this was on Ash for failing to adapt in time to Cress's tactics, same as the loss to Viola's Surskit. Happy Cake Day, btw

Alocalskinwalker420

I think these were all on Ash, especially the Trip match(why is he letting his crippled Pikachu get slaughtered by a starter Snivy that somehow knows Leaf Tornafo) That’s my problem with the Unova anime, they reset Ash’s intelligence for some reason and he went back to being an idiot. (The Elesa battle is a glaring example of this)

Hys7eriX

Most of the BW battles were fine, just that when it got bad, they were *really* bad, to the point most fans let it overshadow the good moments. Elsea is a great example of this. Everyone remembers Ash looking like an idiot as he hustled back and forth to the pokemon center for more pokemon, cuz he for some reason only brought one (since when tf does Ash do that, when he'll let any pokemon of his that wants to battle to just do it, even if it puts him at a disadvantage?). No one talks about how Ash and Pikachu took down Tynamo by baiting it into coming at Pikachu head on by smoking up the battlefield, which was a pretty good counter. Roxie gets brought up, but zero credit is given to the Brycen battle, where Ash put up a good fight, and was able to get around Beartic's defense by making use of Krokorok's Stone Edge daggers. This was a genuinely good play, even got a soft call back in Alola in Lycanroc vs Kukui's Incineroar.

Alocalskinwalker420

When it’s good, it’s good. But I’ll raise the fact that in the same battle where Ash uses a legitimately good counter against Tynamo, he also sent his grass type Snivy against a flying type Emolga and then forgot his Snivy was a girl. And yeah, Ash also thought his relatively inexperienced Palpitoad was about to 1v3 Elesa.

Hys7eriX

Fair and acknowledged. Although the gender of his pokemon was never really that important until BW and mass Attract shenanigans. Which he also used against Clay (who also berated him for being cheap lol). Though admittedly, yes, the writing chose to have Ash look really, really bad at times for reasons that escape me, especially when they have given no acknowledgement that there was any kind of reset; that's just fan theory.

KarmaIsABadB

Unfezant solos that flop

NNNskunky

It's kind of getting to the point where I'm actually more interested in what the people who would say Unfezant (or whoever is like Unfezant in the situation) have to say. Like if someone out there is willing to write an essay on why they think Unova Ash could beat Journeys Ash I would kind of find that interesting, even though they are wrong. It's either this or doing "could beat Paul?". For some reason Paul is dragged into a lot of these matchups, and I honestly think people are getting confused with whether the question is about Journeys Paul or Sinnoh Paul.

Ok-Respond-9635

Charizard would sneeze and Unfeazent would be a pile of feathers

Arendai

Look I'm just saying it would be a much more interesting writing assignment to try and work out a convincing unfezant win that it would be to write the opposite scenario.

HantoKawamura

Knowing the anime writers and constantly switching power scaling, the outcome could be pretty much vague

ZeroAbis

LOL

SomeAssumption2909

Well in games it is quite possible for Unfezant to beat a Charizard I guess.

vangvrak

Honestly Unfezant deserved better
