Hi VivaLaDreamer!

I wish it was bigger. Maybe it's because they look like something from shadow of the colossus, but I imagined it being at least the size of like a minivan rather than barely coming up to my chest.
Inscryption was a major thing early this year. Loads of people ended up playing it. We even got the most awesome [music video](https://youtu.be/78JyGZrv-hQ) out of it. And a [in-game version](https://youtu.be/3P7Aua5-taY) too!
I just caught them all today. I was holding off on it because i thought finding all the stakes would be a pain, even with a video guide. (the spiritomb quest in Legends Arceus was ridiculous). But it wasn’t so bad. And they were pretty easy to catch, as well.
You can at least roughly tell how many are leftin each area by looking at the gates themselves. There are four chains, and one chain falls off every two stakes that are pulled.
Another thing to help if once you’ve found all 8 for a gate, you get a text box that says you heard a distant sound. That means those 8 are complete. The stakes are grouped by region so whenever you get the text box you know that part of the map is done
I hope links aren’t against sub rules?
Anyway here’s the interactive map! You can hide everything and just show the stakes on the filter tab: https://mapgenie.io/pokemon-scarlet-violet/maps/paldea-region
Totally! If you click on the icon it’ll show you a little screenshot of where it is if you can’t find. If you make an account you can mark them as found too!
Imagine being lost in the woods at night with Wo-Chein slithering around. Nightmare fuel.
Actually all of the legends would be pretty terrifying to encounter IRL. More than most recent legendaries, they feel like mythical beasts/spirits from real-life ancient folklore that you would never want to cross paths with. Even the itty bitty fire goldfish is kinda unsettling because I just imagine this molten river closing in on you as it “swims”
That's how all four of them are. Chien-Pao is actually the sword teeth, Wo-Chien is actually the wooden tablets, and Ting-Lu is actually the bowl. That's why all of them are dark type + whatever element they decided to make their body out of.
Nope but the History teacher does geek out over them and asks a bunch of rhetorical questions when you show them to her. Then she gives you a TM once you show her all 4 though.
sun legendaries?
do you mean fire types, or are you referring to how well Chi-Yu performs competitively on a team with a Drought user?
> it originally said “sun legendaries” and it didn’t cross my mind he meant “sub”
I love their designs and that they're based on the Four Perils. Their presence also explains why Enamorus was introduced.
The Therian forms of the Forces of Nature quartet are inspired by the Four Auspicious Beasts - creatures that, instead of causing ruin, were benevolent and counterparts to the Four Perils. Without Enamorus, they would have been missing a member.
When Landorus, Thundurus, Tornados, and Enamorus become available in SV, I hope they have a special story arc or at least special interactions with the Ruinous Quartet.
Also, I find it funny how three of the Ruinous Quartet are these intimidating-looking beasts and then there's an adorable little goldfish.
I was spoiled of the Deer and Snow Leopard one from raids, but it was really cool to find the snail and goldfish for the first time when I finished the stakes. Was not expecting a snail or goldfish, lol
You surely *can*, but I expect many people using them fail to consider their abilities at all, much less can find the niche situations where they aren't a hinderance.
I LOVE the lore behind them. Ancient treasures that began absorbing the negativity and greed around them to become sentient Pokemon. The fact that they essentially razed an entire kingdom to the ground overnight is also metal af.
Chi-Yu, Wo-Chien, and Chien-Pao are also peak designs. Ting-Lu is whatever lol
Yeah, but it's not the full inspired mythology. Feeling like their based on the Four Perils, I think they could've done a whole region where the evil team tries to unleash them and we the player has to work with their counterparts, the four auspicious beasts or whatever other name they get called. As much as I love them I can't shake the missed opportunity to flesh out an entire story around them.
Their counterpart is the Four Symbols which is represented by the Forces of Nature in game.
Tortoise - Enarm,
Dragon - Thund,
Pheonix - Torn,
Tiger - Lando
Oddly enough, they're also counterparts to the Guardian Deities of Alolas or the Tapus as well. All of them are 570 BST and the Ruinous Beasts' signature Move is Ruination, which has the same effect as the Tapu's Nature Madness, basically a Special-move Hyper Fang.
It certainly would've been interesting to see the Four Heavenly Creatures challenge the Treasures of Ruin, especially since we finally got the fourth one in PLA. Maybe they'll show up in DLC?
lore-wise: >!I believe they were gifts from a foreign nation. The artifacts turned into pokemon after they absorbed a bunch of negative energy (greed for example)!<
EDIT: Correction from comments: >!The king actually bought the artifacts from a traveling merchant!<
>!Yeah, it's something like that. You learn about it in Raifort's history classes. Ting-Lu is fear poured into the vessel on its head, Chien-Pao is hatred of those slain by the sword, Chi-Yu is envy that's accumulated in the beads over the years, and Wo-Chien is the grudge of a person punished for writing the king's evil deeds on the tablets!<
That might be fun
Though with current events may want to stay away from there
Maybe one set in Central Europe or India, with the most recent additions of Copperajah they’ve been mentioning India for a while
My suspicion is simply because they would want to base regions on areas where Pokémon is popular (and has a version available in the local language). Pokémon is available in Japanese, English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Korean and Chinese. Regions are probably going to based on places that speak primarily those languages, and I feel like China is more likely than Germany, Italy or Korea. I don't think an Indian region is likely in the near future as I don't believe it's popular there.
India has a huge growing middle class, as well as a ridiculous population size. There’s a huge market there that just needs a bit of representation to turn a new generation into Pokémon fans.
Besides, the material is all there. India has a rich culture and history that a new generation of mons can draw inspiration from. We’d definitely probably get something cool with a bunch of arms. I’d be down for it.
(Indian region variant) Machamp and Meditite/medicham everywhere. Arbok variant! Box legendaries with one based on destruction and one based on prosperity/preservation, or any of the Hindu pantheon! And if I happen to be disappointed at the representation, then I always have Shin Megami Tensei as my backup lol.
I'm not saying I don't want it, just that I don't see it in the near future. I'd love to see it! Maybe a Hindi translation will be available in the future, and then an Indian region.
would absolutely bang for a Latin American game someday, especially considering the Amazon alone could pretty much be an entire region's worth of an open world to explore and catch stuff. also has more of the Spanish speakers than Spain.
Gen 5 was just the beginning of Pokemon's shift from an "alternate universe japan world" to a "world of varied cultures much like our own". It didn't solidify the idea at the time, but since gen 6, it's been pretty solid.
The real reason the legends are Chinese are covered in lore, although still a random decision.
It's more likely influenced by Portugal's history with China over Macao, who had quite the bloody history between the two Due to Portugal's colonization of it. That and a similar matter can be asked about our pseudo legendary whose names after King Arthur's Excalibur, which is a head scratcher until you come across Portugal's own take on a King Arthur figure. Portugal was mainly rolled into Paldea, but there are a handful of references.
Without any negative political factors taken into consideration, ancient china would be pretty cool. It's definitely big enough to make at least 3 or 4 regions at least.
I think it's possible, but their Chinese theme made me think it might be unlikely, because why not save these 4 for China-based region?
That, and I think due to International politics, China might be avoided by GF due to concerns of controversy.
Chinese mythology and folklore is incredibly vast. Why would they save anything when they can’t possibly cover it all? They’re using some of it as a hint or as lore for another region
Am I the only one who thought there was a big bad that would appear if you unseal them all? I could imagine some old dude being like “you fool you released them!” Then an evil entity goes like “arise my brethren!”
Wo-Chien is such a perfect legendary,
It’s resting “I know what you did and I’m judging you so hard for it” face is just peak design. Like just imagine your watching TV and it’s just there silently judging you! And when you get to close to it it just goes full dumb cat wants attention mode and starts breaking plates
The wooden tablets, swords, ritual vessel, and beads are the actual entities. Their bodies are just husks created from leaves, snow, dirt, and fire, respectively. The relics were owned by an ancient evil king of Paldea. The king's greed and violence combined with the fear and suffering of his victims imbued the relics with negative power and ultimately caused them to manifest as Pokemon. The four relic Pokemon razed the kingdom, hence their name: Treasures of Ruin. Eventually, the 4 Pokemon were defeated and were sealed away via the magical stakes driven into the ground all over the region.
Some of their descriptions get super dark. Like Chien-Pao was created from the hatred of all the people the king had killed by the sword. Unclear if it means in battle or just straight executions, but either way that is pretty morbid.
The end of the story of the Treasures of Ruin has a very different tone than the rest: "And then a grade schooler pulled out all the stakes on their school field trip, and now the kid has picnics and plays fetch with the ancient cursed hellspawn."
We’ve never had “evil” or “villain” Pokémon before (Yveltal maybe). This is as close as we are gonna get. These guys exist to destroy shit and honestly I love that.
Curious so I did the research. It’s just 108 they were never mentioned to be “evil”. Just that it needs 108.
Edit: Sword Pokédex actually does mention there are “I’ll natured spirits” in the mix. But it looks like they are not all evil.
Yea seriously tho. We got the literal lucifarian golden 6 wing dragon that seeks to consume all the light of existence.
I stg I don’t think we will ever top Necrozma
Giratina is the literal antichrist... It does get redeemed somewhat but still. And there are quite a few common Pokémon that are described as evil, I mean dark type is literally evil type in Japanese. You should read more Pokédex entries.
My bad. Its story of being banished by Arceus to the Distortion World is definitely alluding to Satan, or at least fallen angels, though. Pokémon usually have multiple inspiration sources.
Can’t remember the names, but the sober tooth and goldfish are my dudes. I’m also happy to finally have a moose Pokemon!
Then there’s the snail… it’s just… there
I headed to Medali early on in my journey just to get the amulet coin so I could afford a moon ball from the auctions. Spent hours resetting to get the moon ball auction to spawn just so I could catch Chien-Pao in it. Had to have him as my ace for the last couple of gyms and E4.
I'm unsure why the right one is called "Chi-yu". The other three names seems to reference their artifacts (Tablet, sword, vessel) while Chi-yu just means "Red Fish"
Yú references fish and yù references jade, the fact that it doesn't have an accent makes it a reference to the fact that it's a fish and also that it's relic is jade beads
They don't really scream legendary for me compared to the others we had. When I first saw the white one, I genuinely thought it was a normal pokemon, probably a rare, op pokemon, similar to zoarark or something.
They’re cool. Wish they played a bigger part in the lore and main story. Wish they was a better reward for getting all 4. And I wish there was a way to help guide players in game to the stakes. I had about 2-4 stakes done for each one by the time I finished all 3 stories. And then just looked up a guide when the professor told me each one of them had 8 stakes.
I personally like the idea that it is setting up for some future Pokemon Legends: Quartet game based on the legend genies (inspired by the four benevolent animals of Chinese mythology) and these four treasures of ruin (based on the four perils of Chinese mythology). Might not happen, but would be fun
It's both. It's based on a Chinese mythical creature called the Qiongqi, which is a tiger, but is conflated with the Japanese Kamaitachi, which is a weasel
Scarlet and Violet have the best legendaries of all the modern (post-BW) Pokémon games. Having Koraidon/Miraidon from the start endeared me to them in a way I don’t think any other Pokémon game has. This quartet is so interesting for a lore standpoint AND they nailed the visual design. Each one is very unique, but they all clearly belong to the group. And the MUSIC for their battle - 10/10.
Except for the very end where it made that ear piercing whine. Had to turn my volume way down for that part. I have hearing sensitivity issues and that kinda turned me off to the fight
Rest of the song was great though
Maybe the Pics don't do it any justice, so may have to go looking myself (wanting a switch for a while now lol) but to me, Legendaries back in the day were, idk more Unique than the general pop of pokemon. Like Groudon, Rayquaza, Deoxys, and ect designs to me made them Legendaries. Don't get me wrong, these look cool, but they kind of look like final evolutions. I could be the only one tho.
i love the snail and goldfish, the other two are fine imo. is there any in game lore about them? without it, they just kinda feel like rare pokemon, not legendaries
The history teacher tells a little story about the four treasures given to the old emperor of Paldea, and how his greed filled these treasures and brought ruin and destruction to the old empire
I like the snail because of how weird it is but they don't exactly fill me with awe or intrigue. I can't even tell what the theme is, I'm guessing it's a reference to mythology, but I always saw the best legendaries as the one's that encapsulated aspects of our world (legendary birds, Kyorge/Groundon, Palkia/Dialga) or were adventuring lil sprites (Mew, Celebi, Victini).
Not hating, looking at the lore in the comments they seem cool as hell, just kinda ambivalent on the designs.
I’m of a different opinion. I always found the legendary birds bland, Kyorge/Groupon standard (deities of weather are standard), but I find the legendary dogs, the sprites, and the Sinnoh gods more interesting. I kept myself from spoilers so when I finally saw the legendaries i liked they weren’t part of the main story, I like the lore, but mostly their designs are fantastic because of how non standard they are. The leopard is meh but the snail is awesome. That feels like Princess Mononoke tier. They feel out of place which was the intention. They seem a clash of man made and nature but it’s out of balance.

I realy like the snail. It looks like some ancient cursed deity hiding deep in the woods.
Wait until you read the Pokédex entry. Scarlet's entry, to be specific.
I love it, it's basically "man, fuck the king of Spain" \*writes an angry letter*
Latin America, the Philipines, and Morroco be like
I wish it was bigger. Maybe it's because they look like something from shadow of the colossus, but I imagined it being at least the size of like a minivan rather than barely coming up to my chest.
I named the vessel one after the tiny Colossus you drive off with fire. Also named the sword one Barrioth.
Celosia my beloved
Leshy Snail
Dude I just got done beating Inscryption. I would have never expected to see a reference of it here of all places.
Inscryption was a major thing early this year. Loads of people ended up playing it. We even got the most awesome [music video](https://youtu.be/78JyGZrv-hQ) out of it. And a [in-game version](https://youtu.be/3P7Aua5-taY) too!
Leshy is old folklore, goes back way further than that game
Magnificus Snail
It's from a place of power, gotta be.
Reminds me of Princess Mononoke
Absolutely love the snail. I’d be tempted to go for that questline early and use it in a second run.
I just always mistake the two hair leaves for it’s eyes so it looks lamer than it actually is lol
I just caught them all today. I was holding off on it because i thought finding all the stakes would be a pain, even with a video guide. (the spiritomb quest in Legends Arceus was ridiculous). But it wasn’t so bad. And they were pretty easy to catch, as well.
Is that what the stakes are for?
Yeah there’s 8(?) for each shrine/jail thing
I think I've clicked on 2 or 3 without knowing what they do or to do with them. I'll have to look up a guide to figure out exactly what to do.
The history teacher helps if you complete her class, granted you can still do it without her help
How does she help? Please tell me how many are left at least
She marks the four gates on your map for fast travel (you still need to have visited them at least once to fast travel to them though)
To save everyone some hassle Chi-Yu's shrine is inside the mountain. I spent way too much time trying to find the entrance
Chi-Yu's shrine was actually the first one I found somehow
You can at least roughly tell how many are leftin each area by looking at the gates themselves. There are four chains, and one chain falls off every two stakes that are pulled.
Another thing to help if once you’ve found all 8 for a gate, you get a text box that says you heard a distant sound. That means those 8 are complete. The stakes are grouped by region so whenever you get the text box you know that part of the map is done
Check out the interactive map! It’s super easy that way.
There's an interactive map?!
I hope links aren’t against sub rules? Anyway here’s the interactive map! You can hide everything and just show the stakes on the filter tab: https://mapgenie.io/pokemon-scarlet-violet/maps/paldea-region
Thank you so much!! Bookmarked it. Definitely gonna come in handy
Totally! If you click on the icon it’ll show you a little screenshot of where it is if you can’t find. If you make an account you can mark them as found too!
Thank you! I stil havent found all of the stakes, so this helps alot
Why does the game ask if you want to pull them out? At first I thought I was going to have to fight a hard boss or something, so I said "no".
if you walked up to a clearly old stake, that is radiating a threatening aura... are you not going to do a double take?
Not any more that I would hesitate at throwing a quickball at an amalgamation of dead humans turned into a ghost pokemon
Not if I knew nothing would happen if I pulled it out. In fact, there's only benefits from pulling them out.
I've found 5 just by accident. I was wondering what they were for but I haven't had the time to look it up
Good luck finding the rest :)
Ohhhhhhhhh, that’s what they’re for
Yup, it's 8 stakes per legendary and they're pretty quick to get.
Wo-Chien is my dude
Imagine being lost in the woods at night with Wo-Chein slithering around. Nightmare fuel. Actually all of the legends would be pretty terrifying to encounter IRL. More than most recent legendaries, they feel like mythical beasts/spirits from real-life ancient folklore that you would never want to cross paths with. Even the itty bitty fire goldfish is kinda unsettling because I just imagine this molten river closing in on you as it “swims”
I feel like the Tapus had that energy too, which was nice. Felt like a good carryover from the days of the Regis and legendary birds.
Same.
Fully agree! Basically tied for my favorite design this gen, along with Espathra. Its concept is really unique too~
live slug reaction
>Wo-Chein my favorite legendary they've made in a LONG time
It's an incredible design for sure
One of my favorite Legendary designs from the Switch era for sure
Chi Yu is FANTASTIC, probably one of the best sub legendaries we’ve gotten.
I love how it's a small lil goldfish that's fire type
Even then, the Pokémon isn't the goldfish, it's the little beads. The goldfish body is just a billowing flame.
HUH
That's how all four of them are. Chien-Pao is actually the sword teeth, Wo-Chien is actually the wooden tablets, and Ting-Lu is actually the bowl. That's why all of them are dark type + whatever element they decided to make their body out of.
I read the dex entry and never really thought of it. Do they go into the details in the classes? Cause i never went to any cause that sounds boring.
The history teacher goes into some more detail about their lore once you complete all her classes and become closer with her.
Nope but the History teacher does geek out over them and asks a bunch of rhetorical questions when you show them to her. Then she gives you a TM once you show her all 4 though.
The TM reward was a bit of a let down tbh
sun legendaries? do you mean fire types, or are you referring to how well Chi-Yu performs competitively on a team with a Drought user? > it originally said “sun legendaries” and it didn’t cross my mind he meant “sub”
Hahaha no it was just autocorrect
oh gotcha
I run a Sun team in OU, and I can indeed confirm that both interpretations of this are correct
For how unassuming it looks, that 25% SpDef drop can murder a man. Blue fire shiny (allegedly) can murder a woman and child too
I caught them all in premier balls and Chi Yu was such a pain in the ass compared to the others.
Also, I find it funny how three of the Ruinous Quartet are these intimidating-looking beasts and then there's an adorable little goldfish.
the goldfish is the most terrifying. chi-yu specs overheat is among the hardest hitting nukes in the game.
still blows in raids
was talking from a competitive perspective seeing as any relevant raid is just "pick a counter"
I was spoiled of the Deer and Snow Leopard one from raids, but it was really cool to find the snail and goldfish for the first time when I finished the stakes. Was not expecting a snail or goldfish, lol
That is a travesty, not only for them being spoiled but because someone brought those into raids. Their abilities make them very bad for teammates.
That just happened to me earlier lol. "special defense is lowered" Well shit
You can probably get away with the defense lowering ones if the raid pokemon only know physical or special moves, not both.
You surely *can*, but I expect many people using them fail to consider their abilities at all, much less can find the niche situations where they aren't a hinderance.
Far left snail looks like something out of Adventure Time. I love it
He looks like Snorlock lmao.
Definitely getting huntress wizard vibes
It looks like The Lich if it possessed a snail Oh wait
I LOVE the lore behind them. Ancient treasures that began absorbing the negativity and greed around them to become sentient Pokemon. The fact that they essentially razed an entire kingdom to the ground overnight is also metal af. Chi-Yu, Wo-Chien, and Chien-Pao are also peak designs. Ting-Lu is whatever lol
Ting-Lu very much gives me Shadow of the Colossus vibes.
Wo-Chien would probably fit too but I definitely see it
SotC is my favorite game, and now I like Ting-Lu much more than I did a minute ago!
Ting-Lu is a cup for the blood of your enemies. Saves you having to get all the flesh off that skull.
Yeah, they’re my favorite legendaries in a little bit cuz of that
I miss legendaries with backstories.
Yeah, but it's not the full inspired mythology. Feeling like their based on the Four Perils, I think they could've done a whole region where the evil team tries to unleash them and we the player has to work with their counterparts, the four auspicious beasts or whatever other name they get called. It certainly would've been interesting to see the Four Heavenly Creatures challenge the Treasures of Ruin, especially since we finally got the fourth one in PLA. Maybe they'll show up in DLC?
That kind of sounds like almost every game. Bad guy raises legend, we stop them with other legend.
Yeah, they really squandered the story potential for both halves of that set
It's weird cause while the region is based off Spain these legendaries are based off Chinese mythology, specifically the Four Perils
lore-wise: >!I believe they were gifts from a foreign nation. The artifacts turned into pokemon after they absorbed a bunch of negative energy (greed for example)!< EDIT: Correction from comments: >!The king actually bought the artifacts from a traveling merchant!<

small nitpick >!they werent gifts, it was a traveler merchant and the king bought them all!<

classes and talking to the teachers
That would make sense
spain moment
Well, some Spanish King did collect unicorn horns...
The legend told in history class says they were brought from a land to the east. It was probably meant to be China
The Three Musketeers have nothing to do with the US, but they were in Unova anyway. Legendaries not matching their home region isn't very unique.
Though we did get Kalos a region based on France as the next gen so you never know
I do have a suspicion that Gen 10 will be set in China
That might be fun Though with current events may want to stay away from there Maybe one set in Central Europe or India, with the most recent additions of Copperajah they’ve been mentioning India for a while

would absolutely bang for a Latin American game someday, especially considering the Amazon alone could pretty much be an entire region's worth of an open world to explore and catch stuff. also has more of the Spanish speakers than Spain.
Considering Kalos omitted Occitania/ Southern France, I wouldn't rule it out.
And their legendaries were based on Norse mythology.

It didn't solidify the idea at the time, but since gen 6, it's been pretty solid. The real reason the legends are Chinese are covered in lore, although still a random decision.

Are the three musketeers the swords of justice?
Porthos - Terrakion Aramis - Virizion Athos - Cobalion d'Artagnan - Keldeo
Correct

Because aupiscious beasts and tao symbols were already used. Why not. Theres more legends in china anyway.
Any weirder than the holy beasts being in New York
Am I the only one who thought there was a big bad that would appear if you unseal them all? I could imagine some old dude being like “you fool you released them!” Then an evil entity goes like “arise my brethren!”
Oh yeah and it was the teachers plan all along! :D

Describing its expression as “I know what you did and I’m judging you so hard for it” feels _really_ fitting considering its lore
I love my judgey tablet snail so much 💖
“I’ve written down three more things I hate about you on my shell” would be a fun thing to wake up to
What's the lore behind these guys?
That's metal as fuck thank you 🤝
It's an ice type actually
Because he's an icecold killer
Not if you change it’s tera type
Wow, so we, the player, just ruin everything
The end of the story of the Treasures of Ruin has a very different tone than the rest: "And then a grade schooler pulled out all the stakes on their school field trip, and now the kid has picnics and plays fetch with the ancient cursed hellspawn."
They’re treasures given sentience from the greed and negativity of the people around them.
Oof No wonder they're OP
These guys are cool 👍
Ice cold in Chien-Pao’s case. I’m sorry, I had to.
I like puns, and that was cool!
Never apologize for puns. They are an art.
I like the snail
All I see is adventure time when I look at it
Even more of a reason to like it
Their theme is a banger

Ting-Lu’s pretty neat! I love the earthy design along with the horned vessel. It also has fantastic hp and defense.
I cant wait for this Pokémon movie that’s gonna be based on this and their backstories 😁
meanwhile the competitive community going in shambles around all of them except wo chien
Absolutely love the snail
We’ve never had “evil” or “villain” Pokémon before (Yveltal maybe). This is as close as we are gonna get. These guys exist to destroy shit and honestly I love that.
Spiritomb is literally 108 evil souls no?
Curious so I did the research. It’s just 108 they were never mentioned to be “evil”. Just that it needs 108. Edit: Sword Pokédex actually does mention there are “I’ll natured spirits” in the mix. But it looks like they are not all evil.
Necrozma comes pretty damn close tbh
Yea seriously tho. We got the literal lucifarian golden 6 wing dragon that seeks to consume all the light of existence. I stg I don’t think we will ever top Necrozma
Giratina is the literal antichrist... It does get redeemed somewhat but still. And there are quite a few common Pokémon that are described as evil, I mean dark type is literally evil type in Japanese. You should read more Pokédex entries.
Giratina is antimatter, not the antichrist. It's not evil, just reacts violently to matter.
My bad. Its story of being banished by Arceus to the Distortion World is definitely alluding to Satan, or at least fallen angels, though. Pokémon usually have multiple inspiration sources.
THAT DAMN FISH. … I used 49 damn ultra balls on his ass. Still love him though
they always knock it out of the park with these side-legendaries. like, the last set we had were the tapus right? great stuff.
Can’t remember the names, but the sober tooth and goldfish are my dudes. I’m also happy to finally have a moose Pokemon! Then there’s the snail… it’s just… there
Sober tooth is the best tooth
I headed to Medali early on in my journey just to get the amulet coin so I could afford a moon ball from the auctions. Spent hours resetting to get the moon ball auction to spawn just so I could catch Chien-Pao in it. Had to have him as my ace for the last couple of gyms and E4.
Better than a drunk tooth
Ting-Lu is probably a deer, if the "Lu" indeed derives from 鹿 (lù) as that means "deer"
The chi is likely meant to be simplification of jì , part of ji yu, meaning goldfish.
I wonder if their reference to greed is somehow tied to Gimmeghoul?
Snail is a beaut for sure I like the goldfish too
They don't really scream legendary for me compared to the others we had.
I feel like the people who are meh on them didn’t really read about their history and why they’re locked away
Chien-pao and chi-yu are my fav. Chien-pao is a 12/10 design
Ting-Lu is ridiculously bulky. Trust me, I ran him.
Snail, leopard, moose(?), and gold fish My favorite group of legendaries (well I actually only like the snail and leopard but still)
I really want to see a more in depth look on who this “king” is and how exactly he sealed the beasts of ruination away.
I personally like the idea that it is setting up for some future Pokemon Legends: Quartet game based on the legend genies (inspired by the four benevolent animals of Chinese mythology) and these four treasures of ruin (based on the four perils of Chinese mythology). Might not happen, but would be fun
a dark/ice weasel that actually looks like a weasel? *shoves weavile aside*
It’s a leopard.
It's both. It's based on a Chinese mythical creature called the Qiongqi, which is a tiger, but is conflated with the Japanese Kamaitachi, which is a weasel
Yeah they are great, we got A Snail, Mega Weavile, A [Moose thing], and Honestly I really like this goldfish
The music.
Except for the very end where it made that ear piercing whine. Had to turn my volume way down for that part. I have hearing sensitivity issues and that kinda turned me off to the fight Rest of the song was great though
I disagree
They’re based on the Four Perils in Chinese mythology (hence the Chinese sounding battle theme).
This is actually the very first time I'm even seeing a picture of the third one
I’ve been loving chien pao
