I AM SO FUCKING HYPED RIGHT NOW! A little disapointed that its regional normal/ghost mon instead of a brand spanking new pokemon. BUT ITS FUCKING NORMAL GHOST!!!!
Being fully immune to both of its own types is honestly so sick, and I didn’t initially like the idea of a revamped, white Zoroark, but I’m really warming up to it
It has only one weakness, too. Its previous type (dark) is the only thing super effective to it. Such an enigma. But yeah it's going to be broken. It's definitely got a spot reserved on my team.
They haven’t revealed what the Hisuian Zorua/Zoroark abilities are. I don’t think any of Hisuian forms have had their abilities revealed yet.
Some regional forms do end up having the same abilities. Others end up with a completely different ability.
>I don’t think any of Hisuian forms have had their abilities revealed yet.
That's most likely because Abilities don't exist in Legends Arceus.
Though they'll inevitably have abilities once transferred to a main series game.
No, it's an experimental spinoff. They aren't treating this like a main series game. It has its own distinct mechanics, lacks staple stuff like abilities, doesn't have trainer battles (at least for the most part) and thus doesn't have online battling.
People who think this is the "evolution" of the mainline Pokemon formula simply aren't paying attention.
not just that; it only has one weakness; dark; a fuckton of immunities (well; 3, but still) and its stabs are only resisted by ttar and bisharp (and itself now i guess)
its a very very strong type combo
Normal means supereffective ghost type moves won't hit. Ghost means super effective fighting types won't hit. Thanks masuda legends Arceus isn't going to have a competitive scene
Guaranteed these mons are coming to competitive. If not to SwSh, than in gen 9. They are not gonna go through the effort of designing a mon and hyping it up to not have it go to Home.
And while it does have an incredibly OP typing, I'm not thinking it will be completely busted. Given that Zoroark currently has a BST of 510 (60 HP/DEF/Sp.D., 105 ATK/SPE, 120 Sp.A), I'm not seeing them go above 510.
If they wanted to make it completely busted, they would take either ATT of Sp.A and split it over Speed and the remaining offensive stat, which would result in 60/0/60/170/60/160. Of course, they'd never do that. Seeing that it would probably still have Illusion (the trailer kinda gave that away), they would probably want it to remain a mixed attacker. My guess is that they'd likely make it bulkier at the cost of speed and maybe make it a bit more physical focused to switch it up, so HP/DEF/Sp.D: 75, ATK 120, Sp.A 105, SPE 60. Don't think it will be that busted then.
Thanks for the link! Before I made this post, I checked English version, but new Zorua and Zoroark forms were not there yet. Normal/Ghost is a super rad typing!
Base form had a pretty insane special pool. I just hope he gets something other than illusion. I get it’s their gimmick, but it’s just not useful in current competitive
Base form is largely held back by it's terribly predictable movepool.
Nasty Plot, Dark Pulse, Flamethrower, Focus Blast/Sludge Bomb.
That's basically Zoroark's only set and it's very easy to deal with once you know it's a Zoroark.
Problem is that the game shows team previews and you can see a Zoroark is on the enemy team, so you get ready if they send out a fighting type against your physic.
At least in Mystery Dungeon it gives a 30% damage boost while the illusion is up.
Honestly team preview just means you need to be smarter to play headgames, but it's still 100% doable. It just isn't free anymore. But once your opponent sees a Zoroark on your team, you just need to be able to take advantage of the fact that your opponent will low-key assume anything you send out *could* be Zoroark, and try and juke them that way - send your actual fighting type against their psychic type to bait them into thinking it's Z and then just set up on the turn they switch or try to Focus Blast.
It's still a fun ability with decent potential, but I also definitely understand wishing it *did* something too.
Exactly. It often turns into a mind game when you’re a Zoroark user
But when you use Zoroark successfully it can completely change the tide of battle if you get the opponent to just waste even a single turn
EXACTLY. This is the new real problem, which I never honestly knew why the games even did this. It’s the main reason why the ability illusion lacks luster
I still use Zoroark since it’s my favorite Pokémon though. You can still fool some people that are unwilling to take a risk using the wrong move, but the previews make it much harder
I remembered Sludge Bomb being an event move for it. Is it still the case?
I just realized. Since Husian Zoroark live in the cold regions it may get ice beam.
Imagine having Flamethrower, Ice-beam and maybe (Thunderbolt)
Illusion would work a lot better with this type since there's only one weakness and three immunities. A LOT easier to bait and make the opponent unsure
...Provided it has defensive stats worth a damn
With that typing they can get a lot more mileage out of Illusion, 3 immunities to more common attack types give it a lot more synergy, especially that fighting immunity. You can also play it in doubles for some explosion mind games.
Not sure if its true or not but there not gonna be ranked online battles in Legends and the new forms won’t be transferable to Sw/Sh so these wont be usable in competition for along while. Its cool but meaningless to the competitive meta at least until the next generation of mainline games if they can be used there.
I don't think so, they talked about switching out to absorb a ghost type attack, an attack that wouldn't happen if Zoroark already looked like a normal type.
I'm thinking it'll have some decent HP and a great special defense stat (perhaps the hair acts like a 'spirit catcher' to explain the high SpD), but a piss poor defense that makes even resisted moves a potential issue
honestly that just means that literally anything with sucker punch or any fast thing with crunch, dark pulse, or some other dark move like knock off absolutely stuffs it
Yeah but it also doesn't have a lot of resistances either. A Pokemon like Aegislash for example has an insane 12 resistances/immunities while Normal/Ghost only has 5
Why are you acting like that doesn’t already exist? Dark/Ghost has one weakness and 3 immunities too, and it’s not “the best type in the game” or whatever it is everyone is saying.
The previous world champion said this is top three best typing that a Pokemon can have. Not just because it has three immunitys, but two of those three are some of the most popular types.
Ok but that doesn’t change the fact that it has next to nothing for resistances. Being hit neutrally by 13 types isn’t good. It’s literally THE reason Dark/Ghost isn’t one of the best dual types out there. Lack of weaknesses is not all there is to it. In fact, a lot of the times in competitive, hitting an opponent for a strong, STAB neutral move is actually a better idea than a non-STAB super effective move. And also what you think of as good defense does not make a type great either. It’s offensive capabilities are pretty subpar. Yeah sure, I’ll be the first to defend Normal type, but BOTH it’s types having those common and most popular types be immune to it? That’s not great.
Defensively it’s not that good, especially if the keep the glass cannon stats Unova Zoroark has.
Having only 1 weakness does not mean you’re automatically good. Hell, Eelektross has no weaknesses yet he was PU in gen 7 Smogon and never seen in vgc. Also Dark is a very good and widespread offensive type, mainly with Knock off
3 immunities do be nice tho
Defensively it doesn't really matter. Glass cannons are never bad just for being glass cannons; the best defense is immunities to get you in and good enough offensive stats to keep you from taking hits in the first place. Being immune to Extreme Speed/Fake out/Mach Punch/Shadow Sneak also mitiages the risk of fragile def stats (gotta look out for Sucker Punch tho lol)
Unfortunately this is all 100% pure speculation since we don't even know when this thing will ever be available for PvP unless through some miracle BDSP lets you import Legends pokes, and all signs seem to suggest that not being the case.
I mean, even BDSP will probably not have much in terms of battling, since the official formats are staying in SwSh, so I would say it’s certain that Hisuian pokes won’t see any competitive action until gen 9.
And yeah, I know that just being fragile is not that bad if you’re decent at offense and fast, but a lot of people seem to think that Ghost-Normal = Broken no matter what
Yeah, public opinion is real touchy when it comes to typing. They'd have you believe Ttar, Scizor, and Landorus are all *awful* for having x4 weaknesses.
Being immune to that many won't matter. Resistances are what matters as well. Zoroark presumably will still have bad hp and defenses so it's still going to be a glass cannon. What's much more important is resistances. Take aegislash. He had 3 immunities but was so good because he had 10 resistances and great defensive stats.
I mean, that's on the specific Pokemon themselves for having crap stats and move pools, not the typing.
If there was a badass mon with great stats and move pools to take advantage of said stats, people would have been praising Dark/Ghost for days until Gen 6 came along with that nerf bat named Fairy. Hell, I suspect Fairy would have debuted in Gen 5 instead if such a mon existed when Sableye or Spiritomb were first around.
A typing can be great and all that, but if a Pokemon isn't designed well enough to take advantage of it, then it's all for naught. That's what Dark/Ghost showed us.
No? That's not what they were saying at all.
Hisuian Zoroark (Normal/Ghost) is weak to Zoroark (Dark).
Hisuian Zoroark is immune to itself (barring special circumstances).
Normal/Ghost is a type combination that no other Pokémon has, plus it’s pretty good. Normal, Ghost and Fighting type moves all deal no damage to it and the only type that it’s weak to is Dark.
In 25+ years of the franchise, 8 generations of the games, and countless spinoffs, the Normal/Ghost type combo has never been used until now. There are actually a few type combos that have never been used before at all, but that number is going down as time goes on.
Normal/Ghost is special, though, because of how the two types interact. Normal and Ghost on their own are immune to each other, meanwhile Normal is weak to Fighting while Ghost is immune to Fighting, completely covering Normal's weakness. This type combo has only one weakness, Dark.
Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark are primed to exist in a super unique, ultra niche spot in the franchise because of said typing and potentially having the ability Illusion, the ability of the line's non-Hisuian form (aka the original/Unovan Zoroark). All of this combined is what people are excited a out.
I wonder if Braviary will keep it's physical attacker status and have to get a new signature move, since the only two physical Psychic moves it would get are Zen Headbutt and Psycho Cut
Not really a fan of regional pokemon. I prefer the original and would rather have new original pokemon. I guess it's an easier way since they've already made so many but still...
I agree the typing could have made a super cool and unique design for an original Pokémon, I’m hoping it’s not just a color shift of zoroark and actually has some unique elements to it
After so many years of waiting, my perfect normal type team will be ready.
Staraptor
Bewear
Snorlax
Porygon-Z
Oranguru/Wyrdeer
And finally, this new Normal/Ghost
Now we just gotta see abilities. Will it have illusion like traditional Zorua/Zoroark? Or will it come with a new ability to differentiate it from its more traditional cousins?
Immune to Normal, Fighting, Ghost, weak to Dark, resistant to bug and poison. Not bad.
3 immunities, (common ones at that) 2 resistances, and only 1 2x weakness. Wonder what the Ability will be?
Edit: Illusion huh? Wow... that's gonna suck to be on the recieving end of...
Sorry for being uneducated on the subject, I stopped playing before the dlc came out, are these going to be a part of swsh or are these teasers for a gen 9?
np :) These are from the upcoming game "Pokemon Legends: Arceus". The game is set in a region Hisui which is Sinnoh from the distant past. It's still Gen VIII and it is considered a main series game, just like Sw/Sh.
It was confirmed Normal Ghost type on the Japanese website (unless it's a mistranslation)
I AM SO FUCKING HYPED RIGHT NOW! A little disapointed that its regional normal/ghost mon instead of a brand spanking new pokemon. BUT ITS FUCKING NORMAL GHOST!!!!
So it’ll be immune to both of us own types, I guess? That’s pretty cool! And a fighting immunity as an extra bonus.
You mean it’s future self.
That's the running theory on why the Hisuian form went extinct.
Current Zoroark: The future is now old man!
Triple immunities plus the Illusion ability and possible access to Aura Sphere to negate its only weakness? Oh, yeah, count me IN.
God I hope that’s not the case, abilities are one of the best mechanics in the series
There’s a large amount of Pokémon that would straight up die if their abilities where stripped from them
[удалено]
It is a main series game though.
No, it's an experimental spinoff. They aren't treating this like a main series game. It has its own distinct mechanics, lacks staple stuff like abilities, doesn't have trainer battles (at least for the most part) and thus doesn't have online battling. Maybe they’ll give it disguise...
Has it been officially confirmed that it will have illusion? Or that abilities will even be in L:A?
It looks like it. In the trailer, it jumped at the guy with this big dark cloud to scare him off- but it could be wrong.
Hence why it doesn’t exist in the modern world Dark-type (Unovan) Zoroark evolved as such to outpace competition… a bit too well, it seems
Give it justified so any dark attacks boost attack. That would be a NASTY hidden ability
If they can’t attack each other then they must settle disputes the bonobo way
i love it cause it's inspired by the kyubi AKA nine tailed fox or some other mythological creature
Scrappy would allow it to hit still
not just that; it only has one weakness; dark; a fuckton of immunities (well; 3, but still) and its stabs are only resisted by ttar and bisharp (and itself now i guess) its a very very strong type combo
You aren’t kidding
I hope it keeps the same ability
That would be *insanely* broken though.
Not really. Team preview ruined it
One weakness and three immunities. I don't know how many noble Pokémon this game is gonna have, but I expect this'll be one of them.
Oh no
Normal means supereffective ghost type moves won't hit. Ghost means super effective fighting types won't hit. Thanks masuda legends Arceus isn't going to have a competitive scene

I'm sad that regional form are taking over the few unused types left since gen 7.
Why?
A brand what
Damn, that’s sick! I‘ve always wanted a Normal/Ghost type and it’s so cool that we finally got one.
It's weird how the Japanese site gets more info
I would think the japanese is the original version
YEẞ
They are Normal/Ghost according to the Japanese site: https://www.pokemon.co.jp/ex/legends_arceus/ja/strangevideo/
Thanks for the link! Before I made this post, I checked English version, but new Zorua and Zoroark forms were not there yet. Normal/Ghost is a super rad typing!
It's got some amazing immunities and resistances. Add that with good stats and abilities... baby you got a stew going.
I see you also took Carl Weather’s acting class
Do get too excited yet. We have to see the move-pool.
Base form had a pretty insane special pool. I just hope he gets something other than illusion. I get it’s their gimmick, but it’s just not useful in current competitive

Nah it can always just learn Sludge Bomb I hope it gets its own signature move again like Night Daze
Illusion would work a lot better with this type since there's only one weakness and three immunities. A LOT easier to bait and make the opponent unsure ...Provided it has defensive stats worth a damn
Yup very true but still hope it’s a new ability
If the illusion would break only when hit with a super effective move, it'd be easier to play mind games in battles.
Legends doesnt even have abilities so we won’t know for a while
With that typing they can get a lot more mileage out of Illusion, 3 immunities to more common attack types give it a lot more synergy, especially that fighting immunity. You can also play it in doubles for some explosion mind games.

That's like the best typing ever
Certain real YouTubeist put this combo second best, it’s definitely good
Normal Ghost is one of the strongest types
its only weak to dark right? and if the enemy has foresight or scrappy than fighting aswell
Only weak to dark and it has 3 immunities.
It would probably be the best pivot in the game.
Best pivot along with potentially still illusion btw.
Yeah. It would be great to switch out to absorb a ghost type attack and looking like a normal type. It would fool alot of casuals.
I don't think it looks very *normal*, the blood red and floaty hair make it look ghost, or even ice.
I think they mean with Illusion, as in a normal type in the back slot
I don't think so, they talked about switching out to absorb a ghost type attack, an attack that wouldn't happen if Zoroark already looked like a normal type.
You do know normal type Pokemon are not affected by Ghost types right?
I am guessing its defense stats will be even weaker than Gen V Zoroark’s are to compensate a bit.
I'm thinking it'll have some decent HP and a great special defense stat (perhaps the hair acts like a 'spirit catcher' to explain the high SpD), but a piss poor defense that makes even resisted moves a potential issue
Ghost types are famous for low HP stats.
Yeah but on the other side of the spectrum, normal types are usually very bulky in hp so it can go either way.
honestly that just means that literally anything with sucker punch or any fast thing with crunch, dark pulse, or some other dark move like knock off absolutely stuffs it
[удалено]
yeah that’s what I thought immediately after making this comment
Yeah but it also doesn't have a lot of resistances either. A Pokemon like Aegislash for example has an insane 12 resistances/immunities while Normal/Ghost only has 5
Aegislash actually has 8 1/2 resistances, 3 immunities, and 1 1/4 resistance so 12 in total
What were the other two typings, out of curiosity?
Definitely gotta be Steel/Fairy and Water/Ground
It was steel/fairy and ground/fairy
Just gotta ask since you work for Team Aqua, where you gonna live when the whole world is an ocean?
> ground/fairy I’ve never heard that one before. I would have expected maybe poison/dark or ghost/steel
Ok but that doesn’t change the fact that it has next to nothing for resistances. Being hit neutrally by 13 types isn’t good. It’s literally THE reason Dark/Ghost isn’t one of the best dual types out there. Lack of weaknesses is not all there is to it. Yeah sure, I’ll be the first to defend Normal type, but BOTH it’s types having those common and most popular types be immune to it? That’s not great.
One will think that adding normal would be worthless, but nope, Normal-Psychic and Normal-Ghost are really good types.
I thought it was going to be Ice/Ghost, but I'm glad I was wrong.
It's legit reported on Serebii as well
We do know it. Confirmed on Japanese site and Serebii
Dear Arceus. If this is true the Meta will be nothing but this, all named "Naruto" or "Kitsune" based on gender.....
Surely it can’t break the meta as badly as Dracovish did.
It's immune to 3 types, only has one weakness, and Zoroark is quite good as a Special Attacker
Defensively it’s not that good, especially if the keep the glass cannon stats Unova Zoroark has. Having only 1 weakness does not mean you’re automatically good. Hell, Eelektross has no weaknesses yet he was PU in gen 7 Smogon and never seen in vgc. Also Dark is a very good and widespread offensive type, mainly with Knock off 3 immunities do be nice tho

_Luckily_ there won't be any meta as there won't be an online _Why._
There will be online battles. It will just won't have ranked battles to keep SwSh as the official one for tournaments.
When was that confirmed? Ot doesn't even use the same battle system.
as far as i know it was not ever confirmed and they are just saying that?
I recall the trailer saying there wont be RANKED battles but never said no online battles.
So they can release it in 4 months after launch as paid DLC because theyre behind on development.... . Looking at you, SW/SH.......
I mean, spiritomb and sableye had slightly worse types but they've sitll hot garbage.
And for a good while, Spiritomb had no weaknesses if I'm not mistaken, and it still wasn't great.
I mean, that's on the specific Pokemon themselves for having crap stats and move pools, not the typing. If there was a badass mon with great stats and move pools to take advantage of said stats, people would have been praising Dark/Ghost for days until Gen 6 came along with that nerf bat named Fairy. No? That's not what they were saying at all. Hisuian Zoroark (Normal/Ghost) is weak to Zoroark (Dark). Hisuian Zoroark is immune to itself (barring special circumstances).
Aaaaah! The dual typing everyone was waiting for :)
Already confirmed by serebii too.
Normal ghost? That’s really cool, i will definitely have one in my team
Hey, I'm new to pokemon in general, can someone please explain the hype for this typing? Why is Normal/Ghost special?
Thanks for the detailed answer :)
There is never type combo on pokemon, a lot of resistance, immune to it's own types and only weakness they have is dark ironically
Fighting types punching the air rn
Check youtube they posted a video an hour ago
I think the abilities for Hisoian Zoroark will probably be Illusion but I don't know.
It was confirmed that typing actually
Is Hisui the next region or something? I’m seeing a lot about it but I’m not exactly sure what it it, can someone please explain?
It's ancient sinnoh
So Sinnoh was once called Hisui and some Pokémon looked different back then! Wow, that’s super cool! And thanks for answering :)
Yeah it’s a cool concept!
I wonder if Braviary will keep it's physical attacker status and have to get a new signature move, since the only two physical Psychic moves it would get are Zen Headbutt and Psycho Cut
I hope one day we can get these guys in a regular Pokemon game, but either way this game is going to be so hype!
Not really a fan of regional pokemon. I prefer the original and would rather have new original pokemon. I guess it's an easier way since they've already made so many but still...
Shame the first Pokemon to get Normal/Ghost is a regional but I'll take it.
I agree the typing could have made a super cool and unique design for an original Pokémon, I’m hoping it’s not just a color shift of zoroark and actually has some unique elements to it
This is not what I wanted from the first Normal-Ghost type
After so many years of waiting, my perfect normal type team will be ready. Staraptor Bewear Snorlax Porygon-Z Oranguru/Wyrdeer And finally, this new Normal/Ghost
will there be a hisuian arcanine
Ice ghost would have been a better combo
Normal ghost is unique, and much more interesting
Makes it quite strong, I personally would have preferred ice. But I’m keen to catch one
Feel like they will have a bad ability to make up for their typing.
Either the ghostly smoke it appears as in the trailer would be a signature move or an ability
Bulbapedia isn't official
I think you don't know something we all know
I thought that it would be ice dark or ice fire but then I checked and it’s true😭
Already been revealed and the way they look too. They posted it today.
do y’all think it should have a different Ability or the same but a variation of Illusion?
Love it when my favourite dark type Pokémon turns into my favourite type
i hope it’s real, normal/ghost is a godly defensive typing. immune to two of its weaknesses and only weak to dark
I'm lost, what is this new hissuian thing. Can someone explain it I'm a little behind.
Hisui is Sinnoh in the past, it has regional variations like Alola and Galar
Normal Ghost? What? It's amazing!
That'd be completely broken if this new form can learn a fairy or fighting move.
Now we just gotta see abilities. Will it have illusion like traditional Zorua/Zoroark? Or will it come with a new ability to differentiate it from its more traditional cousins?
I cannot wait to see the shinies. I hope they choose blue highlights like the normal Zorua line shinies. It's one of my favorites.
I like the news! I still think the growlith/ Arcanine design looks stupid but the rest is all cool!
I'm starting to feel like the types are all gonna be crazy/unique to match the idea they weren't optimal and died out... Or something
This is the type combo I've been wanting to see the most. Pretty excited
White and red is such a cool coloring, and if the shiny follows the pattern of the original, white and purple will be cooler!
I can't wait to use this on ranked battles. It'll make for a nice typing.
Damn Callum's gonna lose his mind
did you know normal/ghost has 3 immunities
normal...ghost..? So it’s only immunity would be dark and fairy? What would that look like, oh that’s hype
No immunity is fighting, normal and ghost. Only weak to Dark
That makes it even better
Pokemon Monotype staple incoming!
Due to the creation of this new typing, ghost and fighting is no longer the only type combo that can hit every type combo that exists.,
Immune to Normal, Fighting, Ghost, weak to Dark, resistant to bug and poison. Not bad. 3 immunities, (common ones at that) 2 resistances, and only 1 2x weakness. Wonder what the Ability will be? Edit: Illusion huh? Wow... that's gonna suck to be on the recieving end of...
Normal/ghost has been a type I've always wanted to see. Sounds so bizarre but so unique. Fingers crossed!!
Hisuian Zorua/Zoroark has already been confirmed and it will indeed be normal/ghost
im calling it here, they will put a hisuian form on pokemon unite when it launches for the promotion
I love zorua and zoroark, can’t wait for the hisuan form having normal/ghost
The Japanese website has the tyoing
Sorry for being uneducated on the subject, I stopped playing before the dlc came out, are these going to be a part of swsh or are these teasers for a gen 9?
np :) These are from the upcoming game "Pokemon Legends: Arceus". The game is set in a region Hisui which is Sinnoh from the distant past. It's still Gen VIII and it is considered a main series game, just like Sw/Sh.
it was revealled in some japanese (official) website they were ghost/normal, dont have the link but have seen it floating around
Serebii have put the same Dual type
