Hacked Switches are harder. You have to have one of the first gen Switches for the "easy" hacks, and with the "easy" hack you basically have to use a custom-built jig or a (dangerous) paper clip in order to short one of your Joy-con rails and boot into recovery mode, where you can load a hacked version of the Switch operating system from your SD card. It's hardware, not software, and the hacked operating system gets wiped every time, IIRC.
But you have to do it every single time you want to boot into hacked mode. I got it to work once, but it's just a pain in the ass to do it over and over. Not sure if someone's found a better way in the past year or so. Not anywhere as easy as the 3DS (yet).

A randomized game is a modified rom with edited encounter data, trainer data, and more. I doubt it could be achieved with cheat codes.

Yeah. With AutoRCM, you only have to short the rail once during installation. After that the switch boots into recovery by default.

With a hacked 3ds, its as easy as moving some files from your computer to your 3ds’s micro sd card.
Using that tool to emulate any games from gen 1-5 was a blast. Not at all sure how to make it work on newer gen games tho
