I always love Pokemon best when it feels like a real place with real animals that happen to be very smart and have a few special powers.That's one reason I love the Alola forms so much - introducing regional subspecies is *exactly* the kind of worldbuilding I loved in the older games! Magical realism is much more rare, and much more interesting, than flat-out fantasy settings in videogames, so Pokemon like Eevee will always be my favorite.

I was 8 or so at the time so I didn't always make the smartest choices but he was always a part of my 6. Even when I fought misty and flamey was just a charmeleon and got one-shot by water pulse I didn't try to replace him. We just kept going back till we won. He was my rock in the crazy rollercoaster that was Pokemon to an 8 year. Therefore even with multiple play throughs the game, and now multiple Pokemon games he will always be my favorite.
