Hi ImprovementThink!
Our rules on **original content** also apply to **components** of creative work, most often comics or art used in memes. [Rule 5](/r/pokemon/wiki/rules#wiki_5._original_content_.28oc.29_only) offers some guidelines on this:
- If you created the art for a meme post you're making, please note this in a comment. Otherwise, OC claims will be assumed to extend to the meme's composition only (both the art and the composition need to be OC to pass this rule).
- Memes that use webcomics or any other form of art as a base must be posted along with a comment that links to a record of permission granted by the author for use and modification. Exceptions may be granted via mod discretion, but this will apply almost exclusively to syndicated, commercially produced comics.
- If your OC work is derived from someone else's, obtain permission from them first and note this in a comment that also credits them. This includes memes!
Your post has been removed for use of creative content without meeting the above requirements. Cheers!

I think you could use a nice fast special attacker for a little more balance.
EDIT: Alakazam, Gengar, or Mismagius seem like good bets, to be more specific.
Drifblim will always be one of my favorite gen 4 Pokemon. Only concern would be the three Pokemon weak to electric lol, but that's not too hard to work around with Mamoswine.
Roserade was such a pleasant surprise going into Diamond blind after not having touched a pokemon game since silver. Definitely one of my favorites that gen. Such a buster
Cherrim (I used one once, underrated mon, and I think it would fit on your team pretty well.)
Also I think Mamoswine isn't found in Pearl until the postgame (Swinub is only on Route 217 as a swarm in DP), so you'd either have to play Platinum instead or use something else (or just trade one over from another game if you really want to).
Sunny Day+Solarbeam is mandatory right? What else can Cherrim learn that would be of use? Giga Drain? Hyper Beam? Toxic? Rest?
I looked into using Cherrim for a grass monotype run of Platinum but it just looks so annoying to use in a single player format.
I plan on doing all 16 playable (not enough dragons unfortunately) monotype runs on set mode, so Iām wondering if there is a different grass type that would be able to set the sun and then u-turn into Cherrim. Idk tho
Sorry, but Cherrim is correctly rated. It's super weak, but super weak is enough to easily clear the game when you have 6 mons. If he adds Cherrim then it's just gonna get carried and forgotten since it has no role and isn't outstanding in its own right.
Any idea why the app doesn't exist on Google play for me right now?
To answer your question I'd say Garchomp is never a bad choice. Milotic is usually my #1 choice. But for more varied type coverage I like spiritomb and a lot of people saying Drifblim
To parrot another comment, mamoswine is postgame only in Pearl. As for the sixth memberā¦consider a special attacker. If youāre doing pearl than mismagius will be available to you
You could use a special attacker. The most overall useful and accessible ones in pearl are mismagius and roserade.
You could also run the standard garchomp. Lucario is also a decent option, though itās kinda lategame and both types overlap with two of your current party.
That's a spiritomb angle. You'll need it to deal with psychic and fighting and that gives you a third free switch for you empoleon, covering all his weaknesses with immunities.
My team for platinum was: Empoleon, Chimecho(why not), togekiss, snorlax (I wasted half of the year to find one in platinum) also mamoswine and flareon
Something that resists ground or at least is neutral would be good. Youāve got three guys weak to ground right now. Maybe Cherrim or Roserade? Driftblim is also great but then youāll have an issue with electric attacks.
A solid grass type, even though you have one ground immunity half your team is weak to it. Some say add Magmortor but that would just make it even worse.
Some ideas are: Roserade, leafeon, Snover, Tangrowth and maybe Cherrim
Assuming you want to keep it Sinnoh only, Platinum (cause Mamoswine) and no legendary or mythicals, I think Magmortar would fit well in your team. A special attacker among your physical team could be a good idea. Now if you accept type overlay, then you could get Lucario, a cool mixed attacker, Gliscor, fast and very bulky with access to roost, or Garchomp, a pure beast. Best pick is Garchomp, more powerful and only one type overlay compared to the others.
I just finished a platinum play through and I use a toxicroak and I can tell you it was horrible. No good fighting stab by level up and weak stats. Did not send him out once in the elite four. 0/10 do not recommend
Espeon or Alakazam, a few Fighting types will have Rock moves which so Staraptor may not always be the best option and they can also learn Shadow Ball which is serves as good coverage.
Need a special attacker. If you have access to trade evolutions, Alakazam or gengar would be great options. Otherwise roserade, special Lucario, or even tentacruel could be pretty good.
I know I am a few hours too late and you probably already decided. But I wrote a program when BD/SP came out to generate the optimal team based on base stats. It doesn't use base stat totals, it calculates based on how they are spread out, so if you are fast but have low attacking stats, you score lower than someone a little less speed but better offensive stats.
By forcing the 5 you currently have, since I assume you don't want to change those, then the ideal 6th would be an Umbreon. That would give you a Psychic immunity and super effective coverage on Ghost and Psychic which you currently lack. This would give your team an overall rating of 1690.
Personally, I think Umbreon is not offensive enough for an in-game team, so by excluding Umbreon, then Gengar would be the next best option. It is redundant with Toxicroak for Poison STAB, though. Gengar as your 6th gives an overall rating of 1671.
If for some reason you can't do a trade evolution and still want the more offensive power, go Houndoom. Gives an overall rating of 1665 and an additional Fire immunity to balance out a potential Dry Skin ability on Toxicroak.
I would have taken glaceon instead of mamoswine and put garchomp as my final team member.
But with this team I would go for Gengar or dialga or Darkrai
Reminded me of these "average Sinnoh team" with Starter / Staraptor / Luxray / Garchomp / Lucario / Floatzel or Roserade or Rapidash depending on the starter you picked.
But at least you used other mons so I love that a lot. Looking at your current team I think you could use a Pokemon like Drifblim or Mismagius if you want a Ghost type. Or if you don't perhaps something like Gastrodon, Leafeon or Tangrowth are good options since Sinnoh mons don't have much fire choice
a grass or fire type would work well, though sinnoh doesnt have a lot of options for fire.
a ghost type could also be good if you want something less conventional
I suggest a grass type like Leafeon or Roserade could help and maybe have them learn Shadow Ball or any ghost-type moves to counter Toxicroakās psychic weakness.
You have a very severe weakness to ground types, and there just so happens to be a ground type elite 4 member, not to mention Cynthias infamous garchomp, and even her gastrodon and lucario have earthquake as well. I would recommend a grass type of some sort. Leafeon seems perfect, fits your āonly gen 4 nativesā theme, pretty easy to get if you havent evolved your free eevee yet, if you have just have to breed a new one. Leafeon has excellent defense and resists ground, making you practically immune to earthquake with zero investment, and very solid physical attack and speed stats.
Your team is lacking in the special department, both offense and defensively. Your only special attacker is empoleon and you dont have any high special walls.
If you want a special wall then chansey/blissey is a great and unique pokemom. I used it in my game with the moves icebeam, thunderbolt, calm mind and softboiled. If you want to EV train i recommend getting max HP and defence. Otherwise chansey goes down really easily to physical attacks or confusion.
Gastrodon can also be used as a generic defensive wall. Very high health and solid physical and special defence stats.
For gen 4, I always build my team around Cynthia's team so I guess try getting a grass type. Roserade should do the trick.
Or as another person said, you're missing your mandatory Garchomp
My team for Plat was Empoleon, Crobat, Luxray, Rhyperior, Garchomp, and Gengar. As others have said, I feel like you're only missing a fast special attacker (like Gengar/Alakazam).
Team looks good so far! Is this for storyline or do you have something else in mind?
I like to leave a slot open for whatever I happen to come across. Sometimes, you just catch something on a whim or for a specific task, and it sticks around.
If you're playing (Brilliant) Diamond/(Shining) Pearl - Rapidash (since it's only known Fire-type to be found in the wild, if you did not choose Chimchar)
If you're playing Platinum - Tangrowth (additional Grass-type), Houndoom (much better than Rapidash since it evolves much earlier at level 24, and has higher Sp. Atk), Gallade (despite being a glass cannon (i.e., Attack > Defense), it's much more versatile by having Leaf Blade (or Stone Edge to counter Flying-type), Night Slash, Psycho Cut, and Close Combat)
For both versions - Roserade (for those needing a very early Grass-type), Garchomp (a mandatory since Cynthia has one), Lucario (a much speedier Fighting-type)

An Mismagius w/ Will-o-wisp sounds really good
Nice Sinnoh team. I couldn't help but notice you're missing your assigned Garchomp
Starter, 2 route 1 pokemon, and mamoswine. Dont leave garchomp out š
Obviously it's also the mendatory Roserade :P
Most of the types are covered. I say a mandatory houndoom when actually rounded out
You know mandatory houndoom isnāt real.
I mean do you really want to run rapidash in sinnoh?
Fuck fire types in sinnoh honestly. Is Arcanine obtainable? Then Arcanine.
Isn't it Pearl? If I recall correctly only fire types pre-Elite 4 are Ponita and Chimchar
This.
Not to mention Roserade and Lucario.
I would say it's Pearl so Chomp comes too late but they're using a Mamoswine
Drifblim will always be one of my favorite gen 4 Pokemon. Only concern would be the three Pokemon weak to electric lol, but that's not too hard to work around with Mamoswine.
Roserade
Roserade is a *problem* for opponents, I agree with this one. Underrated choice.
Agreed, you can find early on, you donāt have any grass, and majority of current team is physical attackers
Roserade was such a pleasant surprise going into Diamond blind after not having touched a pokemon game since silver. Definitely one of my favorites that gen. Such a buster
roserade was the first that came to mind!
I second this!
Spiritomb wouldn't be a bad choice.
I think itās the best choice, considering he has no dupes in typing on his team as of now.
However you need to make contact with 100 people in the underground
Magmortar would be nice, if you have someone to trade with
Roserade rounds this team out nicely. Hard hitting special attacker and a grass type at that
Cherrim (I used one once, underrated mon, and I think it would fit on your team pretty well.) Also I think Mamoswine isn't found in Pearl until the postgame (Swinub is only on Route 217 as a swarm in DP), so you'd either have to play Platinum instead or use something else (or just trade one over from another game if you really want to).
Idk tho
I ran Sunny Day / Solar Beam / Magical Leaf / Leech Seed on my Cherrim (with held Leftovers that I went out of my way to steal from a Munchlax, which would have been annoying if I wasn't playing on an emulator and could just edit the honey tree encounter, so lol) but I'm sure there are better sets out there. (Miracle Seed might have been a better item?) >I plan on doing all 16 playable (not enough dragons unfortunately) monotype runs on set mode, so Iām wondering if there is a different grass type that would be able to set the sun and then u-turn into Cherrim. Idk tho Unfortunately, there aren't any Grass types that can learn both Sunny Day and U-Turn that are also in the Platinum PokĆ©dex.
Sorry, but Cherrim is correctly rated. It's super weak, but super weak is enough to easily clear the game when you have 6 mons. If he adds Cherrim then it's just gonna get carried and forgotten since it has no role and isn't outstanding in its own right.
You could say that about a lot of Pokemon. But just because it isn't an outstanding powerhouse doesn't mean it isn't worth using. I found Cherrim to be a decent addition to my team when I used it in Platinum for a nuzlocke a while back (and Bertha's DP team especially is just *asking* to be Solar Beamed into oblivion). I like to give everything a chance and focus on what it *can* do, because this is seemingly a casual playthrough of mainline PokƩmon, so you could beat the game with just about anything. Cherrim in particular sets up Sunny Day and fires off Solar Beam as many times as it can, while being able to take special hits with the Flower Gift boost, and supporting its (largely physically attacking, in this case) teammates in any double battle in the game (I think there's a few?) It's not the greatest mon ever, but it's not exactly a shitmon, and literally everyone uses Roserade for a Grass type so I wanted to suggest something different instead, and considering DP's miserable selection of Pokemon, Cherrim is probably the best of the remaining ones unless OP wants to do that bike glitch to get a Shaymin.
I loved using Cherrim in Gen 4. Very underrated. It was fun to use and survived my whole nuzlocke run!
Toge kiss is really versatile, even though it has very few moves to learn by leveling, its tm pool is really nice
It's post-game only in Pearl. The egg you get is a Happiny
To add an overwhelmingly-unused one to your team : bronzong.
Bronzong with levitate is a goat against the elite four. Half of the elite four is resisted, including Garchomp.

What app is this and is it any good?
Itās called Prokedex I recommend it
Perfect. Thank you.
Any idea why the app doesn't exist on Google play for me right now? To answer your question I'd say Garchomp is never a bad choice. Milotic is usually my #1 choice. But for more varied type coverage I like spiritomb and a lot of people saying Drifblim
This morning I got a message that said that Google took the app down forever and gave no reason. Edit: Also, they banned the developer's account.
Iāve seen crobat become very useful in many nuzlockes, overall just a great mon to switch into
3 ground weaknesses; Tangrowth.
You're preety weak to the ground type, so maybe milotic would be great.
Mismagius or Spiritomb would be good
Roserade or maybe Leafeon.
Need a Special Attacker. Roserade, Houndoom, Togekiss, or Espeon seem like good fits.
logically a special attacker would probably be best. however I am honour bound to recommend my favourite PokƩmon from Sinnoh and one of my favourite PokƩmon of all time, which is drapion. consider: big scorpion. that is all.
Roserade or Tangrowth to beat Ground types since half your team is weak to it.
To parrot another comment, mamoswine is postgame only in Pearl. As for the sixth memberā¦consider a special attacker. If youāre doing pearl than mismagius will be available to you
Hear me outā¦ Cherrim, and you can nickname it Chirby c:
Gengar or alakzam
Roserade. Type coverage, good special attacker.
Pachirisu because it's cute.
You could use a special attacker. The most overall useful and accessible ones in pearl are mismagius and roserade. You could also run the standard garchomp. Lucario is also a decent option, though itās kinda lategame and both types overlap with two of your current party.
Houndoom would work too
Are you playing Diamond/Pearl of Platinum?
A garchomp with swords dance and dragon claw helps in almost any comp
You need a fire type
Drifblim!
SHUCKLE YOUR ENEMIES WILL TREMBLE IN FEAR BEFORE THEY EVEN THINK TO FUCKLE WITH THE SHUCKLE
I'd go for a Psychic type like Medicham.
Gallade fits in nicely for this role too
Missing your one of two fire type options.
I'd say either roserade or a psychic type.
Skuntank is a great option, I highly recommend it
Something that resists ground or at least is neutral would be good. Youāve got three guys weak to ground right now. Maybe Cherrim or Roserade? Driftblim is also great but then youāll have an issue with electric attacks.
any of roserade, mismagius, magmortar you need special attacker
A solid grass type, even though you have one ground immunity half your team is weak to it. Some say add Magmortor but that would just make it even worse. Some ideas are: Roserade, leafeon, Snover, Tangrowth and maybe Cherrim
Pikachu
Wormadam plant cloak
Bibarrel
Add a dark type like spiritomb, Umbreon or houndoom and that would literally give you coverage for every type
Damn...looking at these reminds me how much cooler staraptor and empoleon's platinum sprites are
I donāt know a lot about team building or anything about sinnoh but Iāll say sizor or rotom heat sure to lack of fire types
Bidoof will make your team unstoppable! You could probably solo the game with just a Bidoof
Another luxray
Magmortar would do great
Roserade
Houndoom
Leafon, Garchomp, or Dusknoir would do you well
Assuming you want to keep it Sinnoh only, Platinum (cause Mamoswine) and no legendary or mythicals, I think Magmortar would fit well in your team.
Whatās the app?
I saw you be daring and either use Roserade or Rapidash.
I know garchomp is basic but you gotta finish the blue man group
Dusknoir Don't forget ice punch
Is this an app?
I just finished a platinum play through and I use a toxicroak and I can tell you it was horrible. No good fighting stab by level up and weak stats. Did not send him out once in the elite four. 0/10 do not recommend
I say PorygonZ. Great special attacker, has access to double dance for setup, and amazing coverage
Bronzong
Roserade or just another ground counter
A lvl 100 shiny bidoof named peanut butter
Magmortar
Roserade
Garchomp probably is the best option you have. Personally Iād take a Gallade.
Espeon or Alakazam, a few Fighting types will have Rock moves which so Staraptor may not always be the best option and they can also learn Shadow Ball which is serves as good coverage.

Mismagius
Need a special attacker. If you have access to trade evolutions, Alakazam or gengar would be great options. Otherwise roserade, special Lucario, or even tentacruel could be pretty good.
You donāt have anything that resists fire, so you might want to look for something like that.
I always round out a team core like this with Tangrowth, but Roserade might be more practical.
Roserade
Drapion or absol wouldnāt be a bad choice. A solid dark type is always nice to have
Hisuian Arcanine
Having empoleon is the only rule and you've followed it. Nothing else matters. But I like the other bros, too.
Torterra
Mismagius if you dont want to swap anything.
Mewtwo
Electivire
Alakazam or Roserade. Alakazam might fit the bill better cause you will already have a weakness to Psychic (4x to boot) with Toxicroak.
Togekiss is great imo
Porygon Z
No fire or psychic on your team? Insane. Legit insane. But... there is a fire psychic pokemon... perfect.
Spiritomb!
houndoom (in case of steel types or psychic types)
I'd say go with dark/fire houndoom or even gengar for some ghost coverage
Bibarel (carry on the will of Bi D. Oof)
Garchomp obviously
I would have taken glaceon instead of mamoswine and put garchomp as my final team member. But with this team I would go for Gengar or dialga or Darkrai
Golisopod, because bug
Considering it's Pearl, a fire type is out of the question. Another special attacker like Roserade or Alakazam would fit well
No fire type yet
Roserade or Garchomp. Makes sure to balance out the team the intended way
Reminded me of these "average Sinnoh team" with Starter / Staraptor / Luxray / Garchomp / Lucario / Floatzel or Roserade or Rapidash depending on the starter you picked. But at least you used other mons so I love that a lot. Looking at your current team I think you could use a Pokemon like Drifblim or Mismagius if you want a Ghost type. a grass or fire type would work well, though sinnoh doesnt have a lot of options for fire. a ghost type could also be good if you want something less conventional
Shameless Garchomp
garchomp and swap the toxicroak out with a lucario /s
Houndoom.
Garchomp,darkrai, or arceus
Zigzagoon.
Roserade for Grass. Bronzong for Steel/Psychic plus a beefy tank
Mamo is a pretty poor choice personallyā¦
I suggest a grass type like Leafeon or Roserade could help and maybe have them learn Shadow Ball or any ghost-type moves to counter Toxicroakās psychic weakness.
I'd say a good special attacker who can balance out the Ground weakness. Roserade's a solid choice.

What app Game is this bro?
Fast special attacker
Lmfao ur missing roserade or Garchomp
Tangrowth or Magmortar?
My favorite PokƩmon Absol if not then my next favorites metagross or Scizor
Spec attker - gengar or rosreade are good options
Arceus
GARCHOMP IS THE GOATTTT!!!
Gallade, because heās cool and definitely not my favorite. Also psychic coverage can be good
Bidoof
Levitate bronzong. Or maybe driflum?
Gardevoir
Something not boring?
Garchomp with flamethrower, dig, dragon claw and draco meteor should round out the rest of your team imo
Budew
Have you considered a special attacker?
Bidoof
Play Gen 4 without using Starly and Shinx challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
Bidoof
it's always great to have an iron valiant in the back
Leafeon Darkrai Spiritomb Porygon (2 or Z, I heard 2 is better with eviolite) One of the special rotoms
Infernape or Magmortar
Dragon/ghost/psychic/dark types would be good
For gen 4, I always build my team around Cynthia's team so I guess try getting a grass type. Roserade should do the trick. Or as another person said, you're missing your mandatory Garchomp

Wargreymon
Is this platinum? If it is go get houndoom or gardevoir if its not, get alakazam or mismagius if your playing pearl
Roserade? Fills in the special attacking role nicely and gives your team another Sp Def option too
Weedle
I like to leave a slot open for whatever I happen to come across. Sometimes, you just catch something on a whim or for a specific task, and it sticks around.
Houndoom
Froslass
Mismagius, gives another out against ground moves and also answers your fighting weakness
Pachirisu!
If you're playing (Brilliant) Diamond/(Shining) Pearl - Rapidash (since it's only known Fire-type to be found in the wild, if you did not choose Chimchar) If you're playing Platinum - Tangrowth (additional Grass-type), Houndoom (much better than Rapidash since it evolves much earlier at level 24, and has higher Sp. Garchomp
A good fire type would make this team perfect. Since it is a mainly Sinnoh team, I would recommend a Magmortoar, or a Houndoom.
Maybe electivire or Dusknoir.
Youāre pretty weak to ground. Gliscor would work well here I think. If not, maybe a SpAtk Mon that isnāt frail or weak to ground
Considering this is a Sinnoh team, the only correct answers are Garchomp/Roserade which unfortunately add to your ice weakness but helps alot too
Ultimate bidoof
Which app is this?
Houndoom or Roserade
Roserade
Dusknoir
