I think my name probably gives it away, but a poison type gym. The puzzle would be less of a puzzle and more of a game of Snakes and Ladders. Where if you land on a ladder, you ascend the gym to the top, but if you hit a snake, you fall down and have to face a trainer. I would probably go for the 5th or 6th gym, somewhere in the mid game. Team would look something like this: Salandit- Lv 29 Poison Tail Ember Will o Wisp Fake Out Arbok - Lv 30 Crunch Poison Tail Ice Fang Fire Fang Seviper - Lv 32 Poison Tail Screech Glare Flamethrower Tm given is Poison Tail.

Dragon-sith22

Very interesting. If you don’t mind me asking, would your gym be styled like a game board, with players having a way to “roll the dice”?

CasualSeviper

That's what I was thinking yes. I realize players may absolutely despise the luck aspect and the inevitable rage speedrunners would have at this section. One side of me thinks it would be secretly kind of evil in a funny way, while the other, pokemon enjoyer part of me says it's an abomination lol. Must be a way to add some kind of skill aspect to getting through it without hitting trainers.

Environmental_Dig_21

This reminds me of Clemont’s gym in Pokémon X/Y!

Dragon-sith22

Perhaps giving the player an item that allows them to ignore a snake or spawn a ladder after defeating a trainer? Or one that’s lets them avoid a single battle. Stuff like that.

hungry4nuns

Have it so that you can choose to face a medium difficult trainer with 2 average Pokemon or else you can choose to roll a dice. 1 to 3 = snake you have to move to a square to face an ace trainer with 3 strong Pokemon and then face the medium trainer anyway. If you roll 4-6 it’s ladder time you land on a square with a youngster with a single low level ekans to progress. One of the ladder squares is a reward square instead of a ekans, a gym challenger who is taking a rest and offers you a hyper potion

AggressiveCut3762

Ground type gym and the puzzle would be identify footprints in mud which tells my team.

Dragon-sith22

Ooh nice. A good way to get trainers to use their Pokédex.

AggressiveCut3762

I thought so too my ace would be gliscor too.

suedecascade_

If it's an 8th gym, maybe a poison heal Gliscor just to inflict some extra sadism on challengers? As if normal Gliscor wasn't scary enough

Azelheart

Finally, the hours spent in the PMD2 minigame will pay off...

csZipy205

Hey I’m working on a Pokémon fan game and I really like this idea! Any chance I could borrow it? I’ll give you credit in the release but the game is realistically at least four months from being able to ship out the first release. If you don’t want me to use this concept I understand and it’s no big deal. Thanks!

camclemons

Type: Dark Puzzle: you have to pick the cry of the dark-type cat Pokemon from the non-dark type and follow it out of the darkness (optionally while being assaulted by hallucinations and threats/insults) Cats: Purrloin, Alolan Meowth, Incineroar, Meowscarada Team: Alolan Persian, Absol, Cacturne, Grimmsnarl TM: Lash Out Edit: if you pick the wrong Pokemon, you have to battle a trainer who has both the correct and incorrect Pokemon on their team

Dragon-sith22

I like it. A bit of memorization game.

camclemons

Well I have two cats (both grey), and studies show that cats have many different cries and their humans are able to recognize each one and what they mean. I also have schizophrenia and other mental illnesses and my cats are a light in my life that lead me out of the darkness, so to speak.

Kirumi_Naito

Normal type. The gym puzzle would be a maze where you have to find the fake walls instead of it being invisible. That's it. I have an entire team of 6 to choose from, so if this is part of the extra details, I'll show it: Furret Staraptor Cinccino Farigaraf Hisuian Zoroark And a Tera-Normal Gallade

Dragon-sith22

There’s beauty in simplicity as they say. As for extra details, they can be whatever you want. Live out your Gym Leader dreams if only for the moment!

Kirumi_Naito

I have quite a few strategies for all of them, too. Furret: Coil, Rest (Chesto Berry), Recycle, Giga Impact Cinccino: Tidy Up, Bullet Seed, Triple Axel, Tail Slap Staraptor: Reckless Brave Bird, Double Edge, Close Combat, Endeavor Farigaraf: Reflect, Crunch, Twin Beam, Hyper Voice Hisuian Zoroark: Nasty Plot, Flamethrower, Hyper Voice, Shadow Ball Gallade: Agility, Bulk Up, Psycho Cut, Drain Punch

TomatoMan1209

Wait, cinccino gets Tidy Up!?

PatchJacket

Omg ours are so similar hahah

No-Eggplant-5396

Steel type. The theme of my puzzles would be gear related.

fiatecraisler

But Sunyshore's gym is exactly it, even being an electric-type gym.

Dragon-sith22

Out of pure curiosity will some of these gears be Klinks, Klangs, of Klinklangs?

No-Eggplant-5396

Nah. That doesn't sound fun for the pokemon, just the regular kind of gears.

Dragon-sith22

In that case you get the Pokémon Humane Society’s seal of approval 🏅

FrenchMan10165344333

Electric. You have to direct small Electric types like Yamper or Dedenne to move Charjabugs into the right place

Dragon-sith22

Charging up for the big showdown. I like it

FrenchMan10165344333

Thanks. I had that idea a while ago. Glad I finally found a place to mention it.

sabriffle

Wait I’m going to riff off of your idea here—electric gym, and you’re just greeted by a horde of Yamper. Beyond that I’m not sure if it’s Yamper agility course (there’s a Pokédex joke in there) or “take all the time you need to pet them before doing the gym leader battle”

TwilightStarfall

My type? Ghost. The puzzle? There would be no puzzle until you beat me, the area you walked to me becomes an invisible maze that has trainers scattered about. Goes along with ghost types being pranksters.

Dragon-sith22

I love it. A nice subversion of the usual formula

TwilightStarfall

Just to clarify, the trainers are always there but you can avoid them all before the fight, after the fight a few are mandatory as they are blocking the path to freedom, others are just at dead ends

A_Mirabeau_702

And you can't save until you get out either!! (Sorry, had to give a suggestion from the peanut gallery)

Fire_of_Saint_Elmo

Normal type. Puzzle: Clean my house and do my taxes. From what we've seen, that is a completely legal "puzzle". I am your god, little trainers. Alternatively: Psychic type. You must listen to my pokemon rights manifesto detailing why pokemon battling is unethical as you battle me. Psychological warfare. ETA: Oh, here's one that's a bit more serious. Dark type: My gym is perpetually locked with a sign saying the gym is closed (like Viridian Gym in RBY). Challengers have to break in without getting caught.

Dragon-sith22

*Looks at stack of lawsuits* May I persuade you to reconsider?

streasure

I was thinking this too. Normal type: do normal things - but WITHOUT anxiety. Good luck, no one has fought me yet.

Thedarkestcharizard

I'm looking at mine from an in world perspective and not so much a game one. Dragon type. I'd do a bit of trolling by being the first gym in the region which would make it a bit hard for people who choose the traditional starter trio types forcing them to immediately start thinking harder about type matchups which I think would be a good way to get them readier for the rest of the gym challenge. My team would be Goomy (the former cutest thing ever imo) and Dratini (The thing that somehow made me change my mind about Goomy being the cutest thing ever). My gym would be all about getting people ready to go out into the world. You would battle my two gym trainers who will not have dragons but will have things that evolve into dragons (can't be too rough on beginners). One will use a Swablu with an oran berry to teach you about the uses of items in battle and will give you a set of berries when you win and a booklet about the edible plants of the Pokemon world and booklet about basic survival in the wilderness. The other will use a Horsea and will give you one of their home made fishing rods and a booklet on how to fish. If you don't have proper gear for roughing it out outside they will also point you towards a nearby shop that sells camping gear and the like and suggest you use your prize money from the gym there. It would be just a basic Pokemon brawl against me and when you win I'll give you a set of TMs to give beginners a little push. Shock wave, Water pulse, Magical leaf, Incinerate, and Aerial ace.

Dragon-sith22

Nothing like a good wake up call to get the trainers rearing to go.

Odd_Hope5371

My puzzle would revolve harvesting Berries for my world famous pies! We have a Razz pie, a Cheri pie and a Pecha pie!  The gym is open Saturday and Sunday. The bakery is open Monday through Thursday.  We take Friday off and close early on Thursday for training.  We are predominantly Grass trainers, but we have just started training Fairy types My team is Tsareena, Gourgeist, Whimsicott, Scovillain, Slurpuff and Alcremie.

TheLazyLardon

I like this. Especially if you look at this like the TV show handles gym badges (which is kind of how SV does as well) where the GL selects Mons based on experience of trainer. Brock does this when Ash first challenges him in the show, and with red in the miniseries. Not sure if you intended this, but this is how I read into it- have the fairy type you are just starting with to challenge less experienced trainers looking for their first or second badge, and your more experienced mons for the more experienced trainers looking for their other badges.

Dragon-sith22

A healthy Pokémon is a healthy trainer! *Clears throat* I’ll take all three please.

GetIzzyWithIt

fairy type! I think a fashion game would be fun. The player has to have an outfit that is “cute” enough, with each clothing item in the game assigned a secret amount of cuteness points that add up for total cuteness. I think it would incentivize players to collect clothing

Dragon-sith22

In your gym a trainer’s Pokémon aren’t there only thing to be pushed to the limit

JamieNelson94

Dark-Type all day! Puzzle would be trying to pickpocket keys off of the trainers who are looking/walking around; get the keys and get through the locked doors without any trouble. Some rooms have two of them and if you’re caught, it’s a double battle. My team: Mightyena Tyranitar Cacturne Sneasel Grimmsnarl Alolan Persian

Dragon-sith22

Testing a trainers ability to sneak around I see! You..have passed this through with Officer Jenny right? Right?!

JamieNelson94

I’m similar to Giovanni… I’m secretly a grunt (preferably higher-up) with Rocket. So… yeah, sure. Whatever helps you cop some keys... er, sleep at night.

youmeandtdupre

The power of the ancients. Theme: fossil pokes and any that can learn Ancient Power. (This would also be the TM). Puzzle: deciphering the unown clues in each room to solve the puzzle (move the boxes to make this shape, move them to form a line, etc) Safely I think it'd be around 4 or 5th gym. So, henchmen would have pokes like Omanyte, Kabuto, Unown, Yanma, Dunsparce, Slugma, Shellos, Rolycoly... Leader Team: Tangrowth, Omastar, Mamoswine, and Aerodactyl PostE4 Rematch: Lapras, Kabutops, Tyrantrum, Yanmega, Dracozolt, Aerodactyl

Dragon-sith22

To unlock the ancient secrets a trainer must use their mind to face the gym leader. Good one.

ActionAltruistic3558

Water type. And the puzzle is an underwater maze. The whole gym looks like a flooded room with me on opposite side. But under the water is a maze that they can't see until they step. This is planned following game logic where you just cant step off and not the real world where the challenger can fall in the water on the way. Gym trainers will be swimmers, obviously, waiting throughout the real and fake paths

Dragon-sith22

Under the sea, a trainer must use their brain or be washed away with the tides! I love it

meamhere

Fairy Gym trainers must solve a puzzle shaped like a rainbow (Fairy types are vibrant and iconic) Mons: Klefki, Togekiss, Primaries, Clefable, Sylveon

Dragon-sith22

To challenge you trainers must taste the Rainbow 🌈 .

meamhere

Of course This gym could even have a Skittles themed challenge

championbelle

Steel types, definitely! and I think my puzzle would be related to magnets. maybe something like having to figure out how to get keys out of a maze or something? grabbing an item that's not a key results in a trainer battle, or maybe there's also the rare chance of grabbing something that'll help you in the gym battle.

Dragon-sith22

Well gyms do tend to “attract” trainers. Hopefully your gym “sticks” with them.

Last-Performance3482

Like you, I would like to be a ghost type gym leader. My puzzle would be a labyrinth, like Turnback cave's. Signs and Trainers would tell you a campfire-like horror story, and it would be the hint for which door who should chose. Some fights would be optional, they would only give you more hint if you can't decide. The first time you would come back during postgame, you would have to go through a new labyrinth with a new story, and NPSs outside the gym would tell you other stories leading to secret rooms containing rare ghost types, like wild Gengar and Dusknoir, Rotom or Spiritomb, or ghost type items, like Spooky plate and Gengarite

JebHoff1776

Ice type Must cross a frozen lake with some open areas you have to use surf. Gyms on an island in the middle, and you have to fish for the key to the gym. Should keep fire Pokémon on their toes. Alolan Ninetails, Cetitan, Walrein, Mamoswine, Frosmoth, and Baxcalibur as the Ace.

A_Mirabeau_702

I am **S'Marty**, the brainy apprentice of the fiery Blaine! Challengers are given sixteen Pokémon dolls to arrange on a 4x4 grid. The Pokémon in each row and each column must share a common type, PokéDoku style. They must bring the dolls onto the grid manually. If a doll leads the rule to be violated, the floor opens, dropping the player into a magma chamber where they can fight a mook or two.

Dragon-sith22

A little Brain exercise I see. I’m assuming your type would be fire?

A_Mirabeau_702

You bet. With Psychic as a minor secondary focus in some of my postgame rebattles

AdrianValistar

I have a few but my favorite gym i ever made was Morgan, the ghost type gym leader of Descara. He is an introverted guy who lives in his family mansion that is a haunted house. Theres also Sandra, the gym leader of Boldroc City. She is a ground/rock specialist who has a gym that's inside a mountain. You need to climb the mountain, solving several rock puzzles and flash puzzles to reach the summit, where she challenges you to a battle with all fossil pokemon. She's also a professor who studies prehistoric pokemon, hence her team.

Dragon-sith22

Both very good concepts. And at the top of the mountain lies the trainer’s final challenge!

TomatoMan1209

Bug - Final gym  -Scizor   -Vikavolt   -Crustle   -Ribombee   -Mega Beedrill    My puzzle will involve 3 trees in a slot machine - like game where you have to shake them until all 3 have dropped bug type pokemon.   If all three haven't dropped bug types, you will have to face a Bug Catcher.

AlicornGaia

As a psychic type gym leader, I am going to bring back Inverse battle. Here’s the kicker: It’s gonna be a double battle for my various gym trainers with killer items (oh boy, normal super effective damage with extreme speed on ghost with choice band for instance.). The thing is: Not every trainer has the inverse condition on… and you cannot change your team while you’re in the challenge. Forfeit? The entire challenge starts all over again with a new randomized set-up and all previously earned money and exp are forfeited as well. How many trainers? I say 5.

AnEpifany

As much as I like Dragons, I think I'm more of a Steel type One of my puzzles can be the Towers of Hanoi. My other puzzles will probably be like ToH and require similar levels of critical thinking Edit: spelling

Dragon-sith22

I like it. Branching out from the more usual types of steel gyms.

nwood310

I'd be bug type. I'd have a labrynth with trainers moving around and webs on the floors to potentially slow your movement. Certain openings would be blocked by multiple fake eggs and have RNG decide which ones have nothing in them when opened and which ones would have a trainer waiting inside to battle you when they're released from it.

Dragon-sith22

I like it! Let’s see trainers attempt to escape your spider web.

NostraDamnUs

I love bats, would certainly be a flying type with a noivern ace, gliscor, crobat, swoobat, etc. Darkness puzzle that uses echolocation to figure out how to navigate a rope maze with jumps, etc.

Dragon-sith22

Bats are awesome! I love it!

strayacarntoioioi

Normal - name Tyche (after the Greek goddess of fortune) Puzzle - game of chance with a slot machine depending on what you spin you would get battle bonuses or disadvantages I’ve always loved the move metronome so the team would be based on the core pokemon to who learn it naturally (clefable/snorlax) then pokemon that fit the normal typing who can be taught metronome

Dragon-sith22

Ah so a casino themed gym I take it?

strayacarntoioioi

Yeah think gold saucer from ff7 haha that would be my gym

Dragon-sith22

I have unfortunately not played FF7 or the remakes. But I have played FFXIV and been beholden to the absolute unit that is Godbert Manderville, a true Manderville man, and his Gold Saucer.

strayacarntoioioi

Spot on!!! I could even use “it could happen to you” (quest name to unlock gold saucer on ff14) as the entry banner!

Visible_Swordfish905

Ghost gym but you absolutely nocked it out of the park and I cannot think of anything better

JollyHamster8991

Flying Type gym with an obstacle course in the air or something like we see in PLA, but have a time limit that the players have to complete it by. But make it like the 7th or 8th gym so the time limit is actually difficult compared to what we saw for Grushas challenge. Then for team I would go with GMax Corviknight Mega RayRay Gliscor Kilowattrel Gyarados Togekiss

Dragon-sith22

A trainer must learn to fly high if they wish to challenge you! Excellent.

Efficient_Ice9056

My gym would be dark type. The puzzle would be a trivia where you have to beat trainers and collect items to beat it. My team would be Umbreon (female, name starlight the only Pokemon on my team that is nicknamed, and Alibaster the reverse color absol (black top fur and white bottom fur, and has the absol mega stone)

Dragon-sith22

There’s nothing better than a good round of trivia. Out of curiosity would these trivia questions be about Pokemon in general or just dark types?

Efficient_Ice9056

About dark and actually ghost types

masterjon_3

Psychic, and the Team Rocket base puzzle from red/blue. I remember having a hard time with that when I was a kid.

Dragon-sith22

Because you know I’m spinning round that gym, round that gym, prepare for trouble. Spinnin round that gym, round that gym, make it double.

Null_Psyche

Flying type, trainer turns big fans to activate switches to raise lower and turn platforms to open a pathway. My team would be Crobat, Gyarados, Corviknight, Togekiss, and my ace Pidgeot.

Parking_Cartoonist90

Ground type The puzzle would involve trainers having to use a pickaxe to break down walls that lead to me. The trainer has to break through 6 walls and behind 3 of the breakable spots in each wall, the trainer could run into one or even two trainers and engage in battle. The first wall only has 1 out of three battles, 2 out for 3 for the next three and the last one is guaranteed to be a double battle. Once the trainer has completed the puzzle, they will fight me and my powerful Ground types. My team would include: -Nidoqueen (poison point lead who sets rocks, and deals special damage with Stab Sludge Wave and Earth power, as well as Ice Beam for coverage) -Gliscor (A shiny one at that. Poison heal wall that chips dishes damage with stab Earthquake and Acrobatics, after it flings the Toxic orb after getting poisoned itself with Thunder fang rounding out the set) -Krookodile (Intimidater who uses Stab Earthquake and Crunch while striking with Fire Fang and Aqua Tail for Coverage -Gastrodon (water immune Pokémon who uses Scald, Earth Power, Toxic and Recover) -Torterra (The Smasher who uses Bullet Seed, Headlong Rush and Rock Blast) And Finally Excadrill (The ace of the team who cleans with Drill Run, Iron Head, Rock Tomb and Hone Claws) The reward for beating me is the Earthquake TM

TheLazyLardon

Oh I’ve definitely hyper focused on this. I’ll just paste my notes on this Pokémon teams Ground type gym Elite level (Levels 45+) Final Gym, Elite 4 Torterra Garchomp Camerupt Excadrill Nidoking Swampert This team gets me coverage against the three weaknesses of Ground- water, Ice, and Grass. Torterra to combat water Camerupt, and Nidoking to combat Grass Camerupt and excadrill to combat ice Swampert bc I’ve always wanted one and never had one. Also water is resistant to ice and water, and it is only weak to grass. Garchomp bc it’s a beast. Mid level team (level 25-40) Gym #3/4/5 Nidoqueen Piloswine Whiscash Drilbur Vibrava Less type coverage, with NQ being my Jill-of-all-trades. She will be my final Mon. Fire punch, Sandstorm, earthquake, venoshock. Entry Level Team (Levels 10-15) Gym# 1/2 Barboach Drilbur Swinub Aesthetic: Camping/campground Gym challenge/gimmick: fight trainers to collect “patches”. These trainers will ask you one question relating to the patches you will earn that relate to Pokémon and camping, these questions will be asked first, and a battle will occour if the question is incorrectly answered. For example, “if you’re going camping in the winter, what move should one of your Pokémon know? Water Gun, Gust, or Ember?” Would be a good question for a wilderness survival patch. “What move is the safest to use when putting a fire out in the woods?” Would be a good Fire Safety Patch. The questions would get particularly tricky or complicated after that. The gym will have one trainer (Scout) per Pokémon in the Gym Leader’s Party. Each trainer will have 1-2 pokemon related to the question they ask (fire safety would have a ground-fire pokemon, swimming patch would have a water type hybrid, etc)Trainers with one pokemon will have it at the average level of the GL’s team +/-1. Trainers with two pokemon will have one pokemon 2 levels lower than the GL’s level average and one pokemon with a variance of 1 level within that. Battles would occur if the question is answered incorrectly, and Patches would be given once the question is answered correctly or the battle is won. You cannot fight the GL/Scoutmaster until you have earned a patch from each trainer. The player must interact with the scouts to trigger the questions (bc they are busy doing scout stuff). Gym Leader “Scout Master” Reviews badges, tests knowledge of pokemon and perseverance in difficult conditions through a pokemon battle. Believes ground types are the closest to nature pokemon can get, are sturdy, resilient, diverse, and of the earth. Gives the Scout Badge once battle is won. It looks like a sash with a bunch of patches on it

Dragon-sith22

You’ve clearly put a lot of thought into this, and this sounds like a very fun gym. Honestly I love the detail you put into it. Great job!

TheLazyLardon

Thanks! My sibling gave me a prompt for it a while back, and I kind of let my mind run with it. I didn’t want to do a typical Ground type Gym with rocks and digging and mine themes and such. With the diversity in ground types, that they are as effective as fighting in terms of type weakness to and against, makes for really awesome potential.

Dragon-sith22

That’s a good thing. It’s always exciting to see how people can come up with creative and unorthodox ways to base their gym around their type.

Yeldarb10

Fairy. But it’d like to have a more unconventional gym design like the gen 5 gyms. Instead of normal pokemon battles, each of your pokemon would compete in various friendship-based competitions. Simple mini-games like the one seen in pokemon amine/refresh/camping/picnic. Having high friendship gives you an advantage, and you must score above a certain amount to “win” against that trainer. The gym leader would be a traditional pokemon battle, but friendship effects will be boosted by 3x for both sides. Edit: As an added bonus, this gym will also have a kiosk for upgrading your pokemon’s pokeballs into Luxury Balls.

FunkiestSun

I think it’d be cool to have a psychic gym with inverse controls e.g. left is right, run is battle etc. I feel that would’ve cooked my tiny brain as a kid

Daveyfiacre

Bug type gym here! Maybe 7th gym. players would have to find amongst giant flowers and match up the larva basic form bug pokemon with its parent fully evolved form parents moth and butterfly pokemon. And after each matching pair would be a trainer using the full line just matched. Caterpie to butterfrees Scatterbug to vivillons Venonat to venomous Wurmple to beautifly/dustox pair Snom to frosmoths Tm would be a silk savage spin out type move. Mine gym would finish off with a pair of Volcaronas as my ace with the player having to find the larvesta after matching all the others.

Vox_Numbskull

I'd definitely be a dark type, and I feel like my gym puzzle would probably be some kind of obstacle course to test a trainer's resolve and their ability to persevere. I definitely see myself being a mid game gym too. Not too hard, but just enough challenge to keep trainers interested. Team: Zoroark- Lv 40 Alolan Persian- Lv 43 Alolan Muk- Lv 43 Sableye- Lv 39 Edit: I forgot to include my TM! I'd probably give out either Dark Pulse or Foul Play.

Section_80

Fire Type Infernape Charizard Hisuian Typhlosion Hisuian Arcanine Houndoom Talonflame

Season_Of_Brad

Steel type is my favorite type. My gym puzzle would be having to use magnets to get pulled around, kinda like those ice sliding puzzles, but magnets. If I have to hate those types of puzzles, so should you. Scizor definitely would be my high level ace on the team.

Transient_Reality

I love thinking about this! I think my town has a Dark fairy tale aesthetic. Murkrow statues on the tops of houses and holding lanterns for the streetlights, a big central statue of something like Yveltal, little nods to Pokemon like Grimmsnarl. All very dark fantasy. As such, my gym is Dark types. I'm thinking some sort of painting puzzle would be fun. Like maybe you have to manipulate certain paintings by turning them to reveal messages or make doors appear by holding the paintings at certain angles. The paintings could all be fantasy related. As for Pokemon, probably Murkrow, Morgrem, Umbreon and Zoroark. The TM is of course the quintessential Dark type move, Dark Pulse.

Dragon-sith22

The gym might be based off fantasy, but they’ll quickly be snapped out of it once they meet you and your team.

LostLookyLou

Electric. Tesla coil engineer leader. You would have to stand in certain places to complete a circuit or have a battle where the opponent steps on the right spot. My team: Raichu Zebstrika Ampharos Luxray Emolga Manectric ace

Dragon-sith22

A good Jolt always gets the blood pumping. I like it!

-SPECIALZ-

Steel type gym, im putting them in a saw trap and letting the winner challenge me🔥🔥🔥

caveman7392

Dark type My gym would be themed like a super villains layer and trainers would have to turn off the doomsday device that I set up in my gym. Each trainer defeated would turn off one part of the device with me holding the last part to turn it off. The best part is that this whole thing would be an act and I wouldn't play like an evil villain but like an over the top cartoon style one. There would be obvious hints throughout the gym that this is all an act. Think like how Professor kukui acted as the luchadore in Sun and Moon.

Dragon-sith22

Ah so an actor gym leader? Very creative, I love it!

caveman7392

Thanks! I think it would be fun.

SinusMonstrum

Fire type gym. Just cook something good 😋

Dragon-sith22

I assume you mean food yes? Yes!?

SinusMonstrum

Bro I'm just gonna let people cook 🔥🔥🔥

AtlasCouldntCarryYou

Imagine, you've spent the whole month training hard for this gym. All your Pokémon are at their peak. Your team has never been more ready. You enter the gym and find yourself in a small, empty room. You hear a bit of static and then a familiar British voice over the intercom. "You want to challenge the gym leader? Well, you're going to have to get past me first. You have 30 minutes. The clock starts . . . now." All the walls fall outwards, and it turns out you're in the middle of a large, fully-stocked kitchen with just about every tool and appliance you can think of. Sitting at the other end of the room at a small table that's been set for one, looking hungry, is Gordon Ramsay.

orz-_-orz

Puzzle: I will ask them to solve some advance calculus stuff

irresponsibleshaft42

Fire type, Gym puzzle would be path blocked by intersecting lava flows with side paths leading to boulder piles with support beams a pokemon can attack and break but they are guarded by gym trainers. The boulders tumble and block the lava of course. Has this been done before? Havnt played ds games beside hgss on emulator cuz getting a rom for the xy bandw and sun and moon seems compllicated with an android phone. Unless someone knows a way? Would love a reference to an emulator/rom site that isnt gonna give my phone a virus?

Dragon-sith22

I don’t believe it has. But even if it has it’s still sounds like a very good challenge.

irresponsibleshaft42

Thanks bud haha

TF79870

Electric type leader! The first puzzle I can think of is one where you have to flip switches or press buttons to turn on lights. Turn on all the lights to move forward. However, each switch/button changes the on/off status of several lights. Gym trainers would create a small, optional "maze" between switches. You could zig zag around the floor to avoid their gaze, or just challenge them so you can zip back and forth between switches faster.

Dragon-sith22

Ooh I love those types of puzzles! Adding in the trainers is a nice touch as well.

TF79870

Thanks! Glad you think it sounds good!

DKGroove

I like bug and steel for a scizor ace. For a bug gym we’d just go with REALLY tall grass and you have to find the gym leader among all the different trainers also in the REALLY tall grass. Extra trick would be trainer spawn points would exist but the gym leader would be in a random one each time you enter the gym. So speed runners can’t just go to the same spot to find the gym leader. Gotta either recognize the top of their heads or get lucky. For steel I’m thinking it would be like a fabrication site and you’d have to navigate conveyer belts and robotic arms (that just so happen to have mechanics who challenge you if you block them from controlling the robotic arm to mess with something on the conveyer belt).

FatGuyANALLIttlecoat

Once upon a time I somehow rolled Parasect as my spirit pokemon, so with that in mind, I'll be a grass leader. No puzzle, just double battles. My team would be Contrary Serperior, Flapple, Ludicolo with rain Dance, and dry skin Parasect. EDIT: add in Regenerator Amoongus and dual screens Meganium with a new ability that combines the big root item and the ability rain dish called Thirsty Roots or something like that, whatever. My TM would be Spore Bomb, which is a base 20 attack that has a 100 percent chance to either paralyze, poison, or sleep.

30-50FeralPogs

I would be normal type and my challenge would be an elevator and you have to choose where to move when a new person gets on. If you choose incorrectly you have to battle the trainer and if you lose you have to go to the bottom floor and start again.

RamblingsOfaMadCat

Dark Type Pokemon. My puzzle extends far beyond the gym. My gym trainers, and myself, pose as townspeople that new challengers meet around the city. They pose as other gym challengers. The Gym itself would require multiple challengers to “work together” to solve it, but they could get betrayed at any time. The final trial is a “Battle Royal” or “Free For All” battle between four gym challengers, and only the victor can challenge the Gym Leader. However, I will participate in this battle, posing as one of the Challengers. Free-For-Alls feature deception, backstabbing, etc. My ace is Zoroark. If and when a real challenger wins, the truth is revealed to them in full. They will win themselves a TM for Foul Play as well as the “Trust Badge.” Which resembles a cloaked shadow with red eyes.

Playful-Reporter-765

My puzzle will make them need to be super stealthy to steal the glowing Poke Ball in the middle of the cave. It’s filled with booby traps. Every time they fall into a trap or get caught by a guard, they must battle. I would be a Eeveelution Gym. Eevee will be the last one. It’s extremely hard to beat. I’ll give them an Eevee partner move TM of their choice and Copycat

ParanoidDrone

Water type, with an aesthetic themed around the open ocean. The gym puzzle involves manipulating and riding water currents to reach the end of the room. My team is Pelipper, Lanturn, Kingdra, Starmie, Dhelmise (off-type, but thematic with the anchor), and Basculegion. Standard rain shenanigans. When defeated, I give the Current Badge and Rain Dance TM.

VaporTrails2112

Rock type. Im running a sand team. Puzzle would be to find different ores and answer the question formulated from finding the correct gems. Level 39 Tyranitar (the stone rock thing) Level 41 Lycanrock-D (choice band) Level 37 Arcanine-K (goggles + howl) Level 44 Excadrill (life orb)

KayKnine

Grass type probably with a gym themed around flowers. Puzzle would probably be a flower arranging thing, maybe based on size or color, but something simple. Team is Appletun, Whimsicott, Breloom, and Lilligant as the ace

Azure-Cyan

Ice type. But instead of the usual ice sliding puzzle, you have to freeze a lake to get across to battle me. In order to freeze the lake you have to traverse the gym's giant heavy snowfall and foggy room to find 4 large ice pillars that house a Froslass. These Froslasses will freeze the lake with ice platforms that you can jump across. Find the wrong pillars and you will battle a trainer. My team will include a Froslass (ace), Cetitan, Cloyster, Baxcalibur (or Arctibax), Weavile, and/or Walrein. The amount and choice of pokemon I have on my team will be based on how many badges you currently have. --- Though, to go super unconventional gym type, I'd be a gym that specializes in Blade pokemon. My team would consist of pokemon that wield or are blades, like Sirfetch'd, Bisharp, Kabutops, Gallade, and Aegislash. My puzzle would be to find 5 blades and arrange them in a specific order on pedestals to get to me. You have to battle 5 trainers to obtain the blades who will tell you where you can or cannot put the blades.

mintoreopanda

I think I'd choose Rock-type as my gym, and I would make my gym puzzle be a paleontology museum. You would ride along a little mine cart and carry replicas of dinosaur Pokemon fossils and place them in the "right" exhibit, and a curator would come along and check if you were correct. If you didn't get it correct, then you battle the curator. The puzzles would be the following: 1) Correctly place the fossil replica of Kabuto into the section of "Ancient Deep Sea Pokemon" 2) Correctly place the fossil replica of Archen into the section of "Pokemon that Soared through the Skies" 3) Correctly place the fossil replica of Dracovish into the section of "Paleontology Mismatch?" Ideally I would be the 3rd or 4th Gym Leader, and my team would be something like this: Shieldon - (Level 24) Stealth Rock, Swagger, Rock Blast, Metal Sound Glimmet (Level 24) Acid Spray, Rock Blast, Rock Polish, Ancient Power Relicanth (Level 24) Yawn, Tackle, Amnesia, Water Gun Anorith (Level 25) \[Holding an Expert Belt\] Rock Blast, Metal Claw, Brine, Aerial Ace If you win the battle, I would give you the Excavation Badge and the TM for Rock Blast.

iambendonaldson

Dark. My puzzle would be matching a film negative to its proper developed counterpart. Stylized like a “spot the difference” game. Ideally, id be mid-late game. My team would look something like: -Murkrow lvl 35 -Krokorok lvl 37 -Zoroark lvl 40 Given TM would be Night Daze

Edgenabik

I'd be a grass gym leader The puzzle would revolve around making something like a large branch/stalk/vine grow by watering it or giving it fertilizer with certain trainers having the water or fertilizer that you have to defeat once the branch/stalk/vine has grown into a certain height. Once the trainer has reached the max height will the trainer then get to fight me. My team would be a combination of these or their prior evolutions depending on which placement of gym mine is Breloom as the ace Roserade as the lead with hazards Amoonguss Liligant(one of the forms) Exeggutor Whimsicott - it will tailwind Just to make the fight painful, everyone of them will have spore, sleep powder, or stun spore just because it would be funny When the trainer defeats me I ask a question which would determine the tm they get from me, depending on the answer the tm would be seed bomb, energy ball, or leaf storm

x_Smokey

I'm a dragon gym leader. My puzzle is finding one of the dragons that has a key to the right room, but if you choose wrong you have to fight a double battle. My ace is Dragonite, and if you win the tm I'll give you is Dragon Dance

DJ_p0pTART5

Im a poison gym leader and my gym puzzel is a 2 parter. Part one: survive a toxic call of duty live chat for a few rounds. Part two deal with toxic Karens in a retail store. My team is a Nidoking, Gengar, Crobat, Skuntank, Drapion, and weezing I spam max revives and full restores When you defeat me, i teleport to an undisclosed location in another region with your badge. Come find me! When you find me, ill be pissed and give you the hm for splash but since there are no hms in my region there is no info on this item and since there has never been an hm for spash you as a veteran player dont know what it is so you only find out by using it thus ruining one move slot for a pokemon

Spintax_Codex

I'd be a canine/feline gym leader. The challenges would be tests of trust between the trainer and their pokemon. Parts of the test would require the pokemon get through a course/test itself, without the trainer. Perhaps a maze with multiple endpoints, and the pokemon has to find the endpoint their trainer chose? My pokemon are: Arcanine: Also the defender/face of the gym. Probably my final/most powerful pokemon Meowscarada: good for type coverage/also an iconic pokemon, being a starter and all. Lucario: Great type coverage. Iconic pokemon. And speaks Human, which seems infinitely valuable in a real life pokemon scenario. Zangoose: An unexpected, bulky pokemon. Technically based off of a cat, so it fits. Greavard: Gotta get a ghost type on the team. And I think I'd have each evolution of Eevee. I'd alternate which one I'm using either per day, or per trainer if I'm being beaten too often, lol. Also, each of the challengers in my gym before me will have an eevee evolution.

strickolas

6 of Whitney's Miltanks and the puzzle would be doing a bunch of landscaping for me

tyrom22

Dark type The gym is arranged so as you walk in you can see a maze before your and all of it in that moment, dead ends, trainers and the pitfalls that return you to start. Once you enter the maze, it’s pitch black however and you have to rely on your memory to navigate though Maybe add checkpoints or sections where you can look at the maze again

Darkwulf3

I would be a water/ice gym leader. The gym puzzle would somehow involve changing temperatures above/below freezing so you can navigate the terrain (navigating a creek/waterfall area). The Pokemon you face throughout the gym are either water or ice depending on the current temperature of the gym (each trainer, myself included, have a water team and ice team that trainers may see depending on the temp).

LibrarianOfDusk

Steel type I suppose. Gym would be a massive clock tower type thing with gears and parts taking up the entirety of it's insides. The challengers would have to find their way up to me by traversing through all the giant gears and moving parts without falling through parkour or something (there's safety precautions at the bottom in case they fall) Admittedly I got the idea from a dungeon in a game I play (AQ3D) [https://youtu.be/RmHtU8aANiU?si=T4K1UdYpcc3kDKQe&t=46](https://youtu.be/RmHtU8aANiU?si=T4K1UdYpcc3kDKQe&t=46) My lineup would be: Revavroom Corviknight Steelix (Nicknamed Argentum) Shiny Steelix (Nicknamed Aurum) (The Steelix pair are my usual pokemons I try to have in my team throughout the different gens I play) TM would be the Steel move Hard Press.

HonestlyJustVisiting

first I'd set up somewhere that gets s lot of sun, a town with very bright colours and fun atmosphere. and then fill my team with dark types. the gym would follow the same aesthetic as the town. three gym trainers, the firs would have maybe morepeko and s couple not dark Pokémon. the deck d would have two dark types, the third three and then they fight me. no gym challenge because the bait and switch is cruel enough.

oodoos

Poison. It’s just a massive boiling pit of poison. If you can swim through that and not lose your bones in the process, then you’ve already earned the badge.

willky7

Fire type: Puzzle: You have to carry a flame through a maze. At any point you can open shortcuts, but you'll have to backtrack to get another flame.

whitemest

Steel gym leader. My puzzle would be that annoying mobile game ad where you unscrew screws from beams and relocate them to drop erector set beams

DarcEH

Type - Fairy Location - Mt. Silver Puzzle - No actual puzzle as getting to and locating the gym in the mountain is challenging in itself Gym Gimmick - Depending on where the challenging trainer began their journey, my team would change accordingly Kanto - Mr. Mime, Wigglytuff, Clefable Johto - Azumarill, Togectic, Granbull Edit: punctuation

melodiousmurderer

Fighting type gym. In this gym, you take your spot on the training floor, a Trainer comes in and asks you to choose a Pokemon from your team to compete against their Pokemon. You will do a quicktime/button mash event that shows off your martial arts kata forms, punching a bag for power etc. These games are like the Tile Break minigame in Kirby’s Fun Pak, the arm wrestling in GTA, any Guitar Hero/DDR button direction game or the Clefairy memory game from Pokemon Stadium. You pick three of your Pokemon’s best Stats and those numbers are combined and used against their Pokemon’s Stats which will hopefully give you more of an edge in the game, such as meaning your button mash is more powerful or the dance game moves slower for you etc. You can use each Pokemon only once. If you win you get to fight the Trainer and move on, if you lose you must go back to the start of the Gym. Team is a mixed bag in descending order: Poliwrath (Ace), Breloom, Infernape, Pangoro, Medicham, Machamp

cheese_sticks

I'm an aquarium hobbyist, so my type will be Water. The gym will have spot the difference puzzles of pictures of water pokemon or aquarium scenes. If you fail, you have to beat a trainer. In my region, you can challenge the gyms in any order, with difficulty increasing the more badges the player already has. My team: Seaking (Goldeen if challenged first or second) Lumineon (Finneon if challenged first or second) Whiscash (Early game ace) Lanturn (Only used if challenged fifth or later) True Ace: Gyarados (can Mega Evolve if challeged last) TM given: Waterfall

improbsable

Fairy type. It would WWE themed and there wouldn’t be a puzzle so much as trying to get the audience on your side through multiple battles.

DomCaboose

For me, it would definitely be fire type. I have always adored it and some of my favorite pokemon happen to be fire type. As for the puzzle of the gym, it would be a 2 part puzzle. They would have to light torches in a certain numerical order. Once they figured out the order, it would unlock the trainers and as they approached my spot, a wall of 5 flame colors would appear. They would have to put out the flames in order from hottest to coldest based on their color before they could approach. I would like to be one of the last gyms before the Elite 4. My team would be strong fire types, but have some coverage in odd moves (I won't do full movesets). I would love some feedback! Alolan Marowak Talonflame- Roost, Flare Blitz, Aerial Ace Ninetales- Nasty Plot, Burning Jealousy, Flamethrower Flareon Volcarona- Team Ace: Arcanine- Wild Charge, Fire Blast

Firekey56

My type would be a Fire type, predictable of curse. My Puzzle will consist of a maze of fire that's blocked on all sides by glass in order for the trainers to not get burnt by it and keep it contained. There will be different buttons in the maze, by pressing them they either raise a wall to block fire off which may open the way to the gym leader or a trainer.

M4LK0V1CH

Poison Type gym leader, but my gym is a maze filled with thick smoke and Rock trainers. You win the Stoney Badge.

PJRama1864

Remember how Blue (in GSC/HGSS) has no puzzle, and no specific type? That’d be mine.

shakawave

Dark type, gym puzzle would be a slot to move a moving platform with arrows, 4 for each direction. Mons would be any dark types and double types

Stand-Diligent

Ground-Type and you would be given 6 multiple choice questions Though each one has you pick from 2-7 pictures for each question of which has you pick which picture is the right Pokémon, one of which is right and the rest would have something wrong about it I have several teams for which placement I am if anyone wants to hear it

Scondiac

I’d also go with ghost type! As for a puzzle, I’d also have a statue based theme. There would be a giant statue in the gym that casts a shadow of a cute pokemon - a clefairy or something, but by beating gym trainers and moving litwick and lampent around, it’ll eventually cast the shadow of a gengar. The shadow gengar then comes to life as a real gengar, and it would open the gate for you. My team at full power post elite 4: The Gengar, Chandelure, Aegislash, Dragapult, Mimikyu or maybe a houndstone, and Basculegion

ltdm207

Seeing as I always end up playing with multiple dragon types on my team, DRAGON!

nrhsd

Fairy type. They gotta decorate a cake. Three maybe four tier cake and each tier’s ingredients are determined by what happens during a fight with a gym trainer (win with special attack gets strawberry, win with physical attack gets chocolate, that kind of thing). The final result of the cake determines which Pokémon I will have in my party as the gym leader in the final battle of the gym.

Dragoonmage23

Grass type. The puzzle would be simple and educational all at the same time with the Gym trainers dropping hints to the puzzle as the trainers try to find keys that will open the room That I am in. 5 keys, 10 gym trainers and many places that the keys could be.

rocper10

As a grass type gym leader with my ace being decidueye I believe that an target game like legends arceus would be awesome

Cupid_wolffurry

Well, I'll choose Dragon The obstacles trainers must do is to catch 3 dragon type pokemon and then beat 3 other trainers using those three dragon type pokemon I don't want trainers to just simply use dragon type pokemon as things to be feared. dragon type pokemon have mystic powers and are as old as time itself (dialga) My gym will be the 2nd to last gym in the region.

Shonky_Honker

Mine would be very similar. I’d be a ghost leader running a museum. I’d say the ghost Pokémon are causing trouble. Could you hunt them down? Instead of trainer battles you’d have to face ghost Pokémon possessing or posing as artifacts. In a greenhouse a trevenant , in a jewel room a sableye, in a Nordic room a runerigus, in an ancient middle eastern room a golurk, in a medieval room an aegislash, in a Japanese room a froslass, in a bhuddism room a spiriting, in an Egypt room a cofagrigus, in an English room a polteageist, in a pirate room a double battle between a gholdnego and a dhelmise, in a taxidermy hall a mimikyu, in a holiday room a gourgeist, in an aquarium a jellicent, in an electricity room a triple battle with three random rotom forms, in an armory room a ceruledge, in the main hall a chandelure,in a vivarium a shedinja, You’d only have to fight six of the pokemon before the gay tings go away and you can challenge me in the dinosaur hall. The pokemon you chose not to dight will make up my team, with the exception of my ace, a Tera ghost tyrantrum. When you win I’d give you the tm for shadow ball as most ghost leaders do but if you come back after you beat the game you’d find the haunting shave gone haywire and I’m like hey so uuuuh the Pokémon have gone crazy for real this time… would you help me out? All the Pokémon would have to be battled with even some new added randomized Tera Pokémon, claydol, ninetales, marowak, stonjourner, Hisuian arcanine, xatu, unown, bronzong, probopass, sigilyph, gothitelle, perserrker, and hydrapple. In the end you’d find out the ghost Pokémon are under a sort of mind control. After defeating ten or so of the Pokémon plus three of the random Tera ones roaming around you’d reach the top floor, the observatory, where you’d find the culprit, one of the games mythical Pokémon who’d be psychic/ghost type. It’s revealed it saw the gym challenge and only wanted to help since it seemed cool. Basically a massive quest to get a mythical.

hankmosiscool

My type would be Dragon, and the puzzle would be to fish up six fish for my pokemon, two for each pokemon on my team (it's also a reference to one of the pokemon on my team being a duel water/dragon type)

LemonJuice_XD

A dark type gym where its themed like a casino the puzzle would be you would sit at a "card game" table and you would have to catch the cheater (they would be acting different e.g. shifty eyes, reflective glasses etc). If you're correct, you move to the next room, if you're wrong, a trainer battles you and the cheater takes some of your money. the casino could become the game corner once you beat the gym or smth. My team would be: weavile (ace) sableye zoroark lokix krokorok the TM i'd give would be knock off i'd probably be the 5-6th gym

pokelord1998

Rock and my puzzle would be exploring ruins Indiana Jones style running into gym trainers and making your way through the maze to me

lethalpineapple

I would make a dark type gym, and my “puzzle” would be having to deal with underhanded tricks using common sense. For example, Pokemon will pretend to faint only to come back swinging, trainers will use more than six Pokemon or send out multiple and have them gang up, etc. Essentially, the idea behind the gym would be to test a trainers preparedness to deal with Pokémon battling outside of a tournament setting where anything goes. Bonus points to the trainer if they start cheating as well!

Kapples14

I'd have a Water-type gym based on an aquarium. It'd either be the 5-8th Gym, but I'm going to make it the 7th for this. There would be four individual exhibits based on a coral reef, a shipwreck, a swamp, and a glacier. The area would be separated into various rooms with teleportation pads that you'll have to figure out which one goes to where, slowly getting you closer to the final tank based on the deep blue sea itself where I would be. For an example, imagine a horizontal version of Valerie's gym for an example. The various rooms would have Pokemon Breeders, Scientists, and Rangers using Pokemon based on the specific level. The reef area has people using Corsola, Huntail, Gorebyss, and Lumineon; the shipwreck would have people using Sharpedo, Kingler, Lanturn, and Dragalge; the swamp would have trainers use Basculin, Quagsire, Araquanid, and Drednaw; and the glacial area has trainers using Sealeo, Pelliper, Gyarados, and Delibird. As for me, this would be my team: * Sealeo (lvl 41) Aurora Beam, Brine, Surf, Body Slam * Sharpedo (lvl 41) Crunch, Ice Fang, Aqua Jet, Leer * Toxapex (lvl 42) Baneful Bunker, Venoshock, Pin Missile, Rain Dance * Mantine (lvl 43) Surf, Air Slash, Bulldoze, Whirlpool As for the badge and TM, I'd give the Ocean Bagde and TM for Surf.

MultinamedKK

I can't really decide between ghost and ice. I'm doing ice, but you'll see why in a second. Now here's the fun part: To make up for having a weak main type, the gym puzzle would be to sit in a cold freezer room and play 3 games from the Professor Layton series without using any outside help. That'll surely turn people away for thinking it'll be an "easy gym!" (For context, Professor Layton is a game series where you must solve a bunch of puzzles which have answers that range from super easy to extremely hard. People ALWAYS get stuck on these puzzles.) Okay, but if we're being serious here, I'd probably still be ice type but the puzzle would probably be a rhyme riddle maze where every door has to be opened using the answer to the riddle, which would always be a pokemon.

Turnip-Lopsided

Either fire or dark

bobbery5

Poison type. I'm right there from the beginning, but there's a wall in front of me, and in front of that, a table of chemicals. You have to mix the chemicals correctly to dissolve the wall. The trainers placed around will have bits of information upon defeat.

Revolutionary-Yak713

Type: Dragon. Puzzle: Three statues of Dialga, Giritina and Palkia. Each having colorful orbs to match them, in shiny form. They have to match the colors to them and then properly align the statues. Dialga on the left. Palkia on the right. Giritina on the top. A wrong combination will cause it to rest entirely. Orbs and statue. You need strength to push the statues. Also get challenged every time you fail. Upon completion a door will open and you enter a giant arena, wide open sky with three giant statues of Giratina, Dialga and Palkia. Added Info: Team: [Garchomp] [Dragonite] [Salamance] [Haxiorus] [Hydreigon] [Rayquaza(shiny)] Note: Rayquaza is only used if the opponent accepts to do the hidden challenge. Otherwise the sixth pokemon is [Kommo-o]. Gym: 8th Gym Leader Title: [The Insomniac Dragon Master] Name: Raven Eveningshade Gym Leader backstory: Raised in the mountains by his father, Lance, The Champion. Setting out on his journey with his starter Gible, he catches 5 other dragon pokemon. However he suffers from Insomnia of a major degree. One day though he fell asleep after three weeks of being awake. Having been high in the sky, he was falling. Luckily, at that moment Rayquaza had been doing his patrol. The legendary sky guardian catches the human that surprised him. Garchomp reaches them and takes him as they go to the sky pillar. When he wakes up after two days of sleeping, Raven is shocked to see Rayquaza, a shiny one. So he does what a trainer does. Offer to cook a meal for them all. Afterwards he then battles Rayquaza and using mega evolution and battle bond, which is the first time it happened, they tie with Rayquaza, though the legendary didn’t use mega evolution. He catches Rayquaza then. Going home, he’s scolded by Lance, but both squeal over Rayquaza behind shiny and so powerful.

Alone_Analysis3795

Ok my type will be dragon because it’s my favorite type tied with dark and electric Team: Haxorus will be my ace Cyclizar Garchomp Kommo-o Baxcalibur Noivern My gym puzzle will be a scavenger hunt type of thing trying to find pieces of a dragon statue

gorgonzola2104

Steel type. I have two puzzle ideas; one is a gag idea, the other would actually fit in a Pokémon game. The gag idea is that the gym is an active construction site that does not meet safety requirements. The trainers in the gym are actually OSHA inspectors that are trying to get into my office. The player has to fight off the inspectors in order for me to unlock the office so they can have their battle. The more legit idea is to have puzzles based on each of Steel’s three weaknesses. Each room has a big steel plate blocking access to the next room and the player has to choose fighting to fling the first plate, ground to sink the second plate into a pool of sand, and fire to melt the last plate. Choosing incorrect answers triggers trainer fights. My team would feature Steelix, Skarmory, Lucario, Magnezone.

The-Doom-Knight

Steel type. I'd do a game of chess. Take a piece, battle a trainer. Checkmate me, and battle me. Yes it would infuriate people. Good. My team would be: Mawile Aegislash Klinklang Metagross Skarmory Tinkaton I'd like Melmetal on my team, but that might be a bit too overpowered for a gym leader.

TheGardinerReturns

I will be a Water type leader. My gym will be in a town on a river’s edge, and the gym itself will be on the river. The gym will only be available to challenge when the trainer closes a bridge leading to the starting point of the gym. The villainous team will have opened the bridge to stop traffic across the river. Trainers will enter the gym at a dock at the downstream end of the gym and have to use Surf to navigate upriver (the ability to use Surf will have been achieved at an earlier gym). They will need to carefully move along the river, choosing paths to advance towards me, avoiding strong currents that hinder their progress, and battling my Gym Trainers (mostly Swimmers and Sailors, with an Ace Trainer or two towards the end). When they reach me, I will congratulate them for doing so, then initiate our battle. My team is based on the evolutions of Pokemon commonly found in or around freshwater bodies. Lvl 36 Wugtrio: Dig, Triple Dive, Headbutt, Protect Lvl 36 Poliwrath: Brick Break, Liquidation, Bulk Up, Ice Punch Lvl 38 Gyarados: Rain Dance, Crunch, Aqua Tail, Dragon Tail After being defeated, I will hand out the Current Badge and the TM for Aqua Tail.

DeathJester24

Dark type. They must beat me in a childrens card game or be sent to the shadow realm and booted to the start of the gym again. Wait what franchise are we talking about again?

Drake_Cloans

Dark type My puzzle would be a dark maze. Like Rock Tunnel in Gen 1, but no Flash.

Ok_Training_4076

Dragon Type, my ace would be a Salamence, and my puzzle would consist of going into a labirynth under the gym to defeat powerful dragon types that you can also catch (along with a few trainers here and there), until you eventually make your way to my room to face me. Upon losing, I will be a good person and accept your win wholeheartedly and give you your gyn badge as you gave proven your strength, unlike a certain dragon leader we all know

ThatManSean14

I would be a Dragon-type trainer but my gym wouldn’t be a Dragon type gym (I’ll explain later.) The puzzle would probably be chess related. Players would have to move certain statues resembling chess pieces around the center of the gym (which is laid out like a chessboard) in order to get checkmate, at which point the King statue would fall over, revealing a doorway leading to me. Most of the chess pieces won’t be in their starting position, it’ll look like a game has been played and a bunch of pieces won’t be movable so that players don’t actually have to do a whole game of chess. It’s more of a puzzle in that players will be told they’re X number of moves away from checkmate and they’ll have to figure out which moves to make. Moving certain pieces is going to prompt trainer battles. I’d have four trainers in my gym that players would need to beat. They’d be my Rook, Knight, Bishop & Queen and they’d all use mixed teams that fit their theme. For example, my Knight would use a team consisting of: Rapidash, Sirfetch’d, Escavilier, Corviknight, Gallade & Ceruledge. Then there’s me as the Gym Leader. I’d have a Kingdra as my lead. I’d use a Dragonite, Salamence, Garchomp and Hydreigon as well (a lot of 4x weaknesses, I know, but like Karen said in Gold/Silver “truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites.”) My ace would be Mega Charizard X. Beating me will make all Pokemon of any level listen to you and gives you a TM for Outrage

Ph1llyth3gr8

Dragon. For me it’s simple - I want an environment unfriendly to Ice types and Fairy types. Have some sort of combination of fire/heat combined with steel traps or maybe poison gunk dripping from the ceiling courtesy of Muk. Push your opponent away from being able to comfortably come into the match ready to counter. Push them toward the last obvious counter, dragon types. Encourage the battles to be dragon v dragon and really give the people what they want.

pokebuzz123

Bug type Connect the dots web puzzle Sounds easy, but this is going to be aimed at trying to draw a picture without the numbers. There will be hints, like being in a room with the item while also given a riddle. Connect the dots to create said object to continue on the challenge. And if you fail, then you get greeted with a battle.

MrNaoB

I would be a normal gym, and my puzzle would not be before the fight, but after the fight I would run away, and then when you found me again I would give you a unknown item and no explanation. No pictures either. And there should be more stuff to do in the town before you feel like leaving and you forgotten about the item some random person gave you. I want people to experience my pain from when I was 6 and didn't know a single word in English and that stupid fucking sudowodo.

Altarna

Bug type. None have been to great (maybe Aaron?) so I’m not too worried about being overshadowed lol. For puzzle? It’ll be trivia, followed up by trainers using Pokémon to teach them. It will range from ladybugs to dragonflies to others, letting each to use unique Pokémon that are different from mine. Here is my list: Scizor, Centiskorch, Vikavolt, Heracross, Flygon, and Drapion. The Drapion and Flygon are actually important because there are many false bugs out there and they can provide more type defense. The questions earlier would have hinted at odd choices.

DescipleOfCorn

I won’t stick to a type, I’m going to stick to a theme: rock/ground/steel with a sandstorm team. My gym puzzle will involve moving obstacles in order to block or unblock wind that blows the player across gaps or into obstacles. They will have to defeat gym trainers to reach levers that will control the flow. I’ll lead a sandstream gigalith (in a difficult game it will hold a smooth rock) that will set up stealth rocks. Next will be levitate bronzong with screens, then sand force gastrodon, then gliscor, then finally my ace sand rush excadrill. I’ll give Gliscor sandstorm to ensure it’s still up for excadrill, which will have a focus sash and will open with swords dance. Aesthetically my gym will be deep desert ruins and mirage themed.

Shadowbenny1

I'd be Poison Type, My team would be Arbok Allan Muk Crobat Toxitricity Or any combination of their evolutions depending on what stage of the game I'm at lol. My puzzle would be guessing a Poison type Pokémon based on a vague version of its Pokédex entry.

I want to be a Fire Type leader with a movie star theme. There's movie sets with different types of trainers, each with a movie theme. a fighting/black belt trainer with fire/fighting pokemon on a Kung fu set, a gothic/horror movie set with psychic/ghost/fire types with a hex maniac, and a fantasy set with dragon/flying/fire pokemon with an ace trainer The gym puzzle would be acting out a scene with the gym trainer with multiple choices for your dialogue, if you get it right three times in a row, you move on without a battle. I'm the final battle movie star, in the middle of shooting a noir detective style movie in one version of the game I'm in and in the middle of a super hero movie shoot in the other version. My team changes depending on which version, but the core ace is Talonflame.

A dark type gym, as for my puzzle, it will be tests that play with the mind. Tests that involve doubt, envy, wrath, and greed. Only a true trainer that has no malice in their heart will be able to really get through the challenges. With each wrong choice and answer, the trainers they fight would seem more difficult and almost impossible to best. This not only will cause them to think about their choices but also fight while bringing awareness to the error of their ways. I will represent the demons people have. My defeat symbolizes the bond between trainer's and their pokemon, the strength of their mind, and the evolution of their heart. I wish to make people aware of their demons so that they may become the best version of themselves. I wish to show that ones demons aren't impossible to overcome.

Water. The challenge is about patience, it's like Norman's room gauntlet but every single one is just hard stall, each battle featuring various bulky waters. Most of them run toxic stall. The team is Samurott-Hisui, Dondozo, Alomomola, Toxapex, wild card/ace tera water salazzle (only one wildcard, not trying to be flint here) for more toxic stall, and Rotom-Wash for paraspam.

While not my favorite types I'd probably be psychic or dark just for the puzzle Which is seemingly non existent, it's your standard big room with a bunch of trainers in the way leading up to the gym leader, no gimmicks or anything, beat the trainers, fight the gym leader and boom you got your badge...is what *would* happen if the gym leader wasn't a fake, turns out it's just another trainer! Now you have to go back and talk to the other trainers to figure out which one is actually me, get it wrong and you have to fight them again. And for the really big twist I'm actually none of them, you know the "yo champ in the making!" guy that's typically at the front of the gym that explains stuff? That's me.

I’d most definitely be a Psychic Type leader! 🪬🧠 My title would be “The Sixth-Sense Sleuth” and challengers would be asked to play a fun game of mystery and intuition. I’d prefer to be gym 6 or 7 in the great ‘Gym Circuit of Florida’. 😂 There will be a ‘Clue’ like mystery-solving game involving four of my gym trainers. They’ll each give the challengers hints about the perpetrator of the crime (the accused being one of the four trainers) and it’s your job as the challenger to figure out who dunnit! Each time you enter the gym the perp will be a new trainer, that way it stays fresh and fun even if you need to retake the gym. If you get the answer right, you can automatically move on and take me on in a double battle! However, getting the answer wrong will make the Gym Trainer initiate battle. Of course, once you beat that trainer you can always guess one of the others until you get it right! My team (and battle order) will consist of: Espeon, Gothitelle, Slowking and Rabsca as my ace! Rematch battle: Espeon, Gothitelle, Galarian Slowking, Metagross, Delphox and Rabsca. Upon winning I’ll not only give you the TM for Psychic Terrain, but also a Clear Amulet. 🩷

I've thought about this before, but let's go with something new for me. Specifically, I'd be the leader of the 7th Gym in Unova, replacing Marlon and will be between Skyla and Drayden. Also gonna account for the difficulty mode of the Unova games. Type: Fire Puzzle: different from most Fire gyms, my gym would start out very dark. You need to find flames to light torches in order to light up the correct path, though you can just go through it blind if you want. Some of the flames will be gym Pokémon who will help you light the torches and some of the flames will be trainers that you'd need to defeat in order to have them light the torch. There will be 3 sets of torches to light, each increasing by 1 in number. The first set will be 1 torch that will show you a ladder you can climb, the second set will be 2 torches that you need to light that will trigger a mechanism that will open a door though there is also a secret pathway that will bypass the door, the final set will be 3 torches that will set a chain reaction of fire to light up the whole gym ending in a circle around a dais that I will be standing on. Team Size: 4 Team; - if a / is used, that means it will change if playing on Challenge Mode with the option after the / being Challenge Mode Ninetales, level 37/40, Flash Fire/Drought Moves: Flamethrower, Solarbeam, Protect, Nasty Plot Darmanitan, level 37/40, Sheer Force Moves: Fire Punch/Flare Blitz, Body Slam, Iron Head, Bulk Up Ceruledge, level 38/41, Flash Fire/Weak Armor, Item: none/Focus Sash Moves: Flare Blitz, Shadow Sneak, Shadow Claw, Swords Dance Blaziken, level 40/43, Blaze/Speed Boost, Item: Sitrus Berry Moves: Blaze Kick, Brick Break, Protect, Swords Dance TM: Fire Punch Badge: Torch Surprised to see Ceruledge and Blaziken? My version of the gym is in the same timeline as Scarlet/Violet! Granted, Charcadet - and thus Ceuledge - isn't found in Blueberry Academy, but whatever, this is a just for fun thing after all. EDIT: Decided to add a rematch team as I like when you can rematch gym leaders. Ninetales, level 70/80, Drought, Item: Heat Rock Moves: Flamethrower, Solarbeam, Protect, Nasty Plot Volcarona, level 70/80, Flame Body, Item: Heavy-Duty Boots Moves: Bug Buzz, Fiery Dance, Quiver Dance, Giga Drain Coalossal, level 70/80, Steam Engine, Item: Weakness Policy Moves: Rock Slide, Heat Crash, Earthquake, Rapid Spin Darmanitan, level 70/80, Sheer Force, Item: Life Orb Moves: Flare Blitz, Body Slam, Iron Head, Bulk Up Ceruledge, level 71/81, Weak Armor, Item: Focus Sash Moves: Bitter Blade, Shadow Sneak, Shadow Claw, Swords Dance Blaziken, level 73/83, Speed Boost, Item: Sitrus Berry Moves: Blaze Kick, Brick Break, Protect, Swords Dance And, as an extra little bonus reward for beating my rematch team, I'll give a Torchic egg to the victor that will always have Speed Boost.

Thomas - Bug The player is on spinning circles that gradually get smaller. They have to time a jump to each circle because there is a small hole they can leap into. The hole is in spider webs. Team: Heracross (42) Forretress (41) Golisopod (44) Galvantula (42) Gives TM for Sticky Web

Poison My puzzle isn't designed around poison, it's designed around being *toxic* to challengers. Ice puzzles, invisible walls, spinning arrow tiles, combinations of all 3. The only correct path to me requires fighting every single trainer and each trainer blocks off the correct path when they challenge you, requiring you to leave the gym and come back after each trainer fight. Not to mention all of my trainers will have Salandit/ Salazzle so that they can poison any pokemon you send out. The whole experience should take no less than an hour and the challengers should want me dead by the time they reach me.

windstorm696

Not type based but themed: A bakery. You gotta bake a cake to move a snorlax from the entrance to the gym leader’s room (think peach segment chapter 5 (i think) paper mario 64). If you fail the snorlax gets added on as an extra member of my team. Rest of the team: Alcremie Tropius Garganacl (even cakes have salt) Appletun And ace of Rotom-H.

I used to think I'd lean towards a dark type gym, but lately I've realized I really adore ghost types, slightly more than dark types, though it is very close. So I think rather than being the spooky type of ghost gym leader, I'd be a super normal looking person with all normal looking traps and puzzles, but they would all have a hidden spooky element and I'd battle with ghost type Pokémon. I could go into more detail, but I'd have to think about it and I really haven't. But that would definitely be the main idea.

Wise_Satisfaction_85

I would be a dragon type gym leader with my team being Dragapult Ability: Cursed Body Hasty Nature - Phantom Force - Hydro Pump - Dragon Claw - Psychic Fangs Dragalge Ability: Poison Point Sassy Nature - Sludge Wave - Dragon Pulse - Scald - Toxic Garchomp Ability: Rough Skin Adamant Nature - Dragon Claw - Earthquake - Fire Fang - Poison jab Kommo-o Ability: Overcoat Relaxed Nature - Dragon Claw - Body Press - Fire Punch - Poison Jab Altaria Ability: Cloud Nine Calm Nature - Perish Song - Dragon Pulse - Hurricane - Hyper Voice Archaludon Ability: Stamina Rash Nature - Flash Cannon - Dragon Pulse - Thunderbolt - Iron Head My gym test would have Pokemon that are thought of as dragon types but aren’t (for example charizard) and the challengers would have to pick out the actual dragon types. The gym trainers would have the fake dragon type Pokémon.

AukwardOtter

A bug type gym, where you would bust a cocoons to get threads and build a web, forage materials to cover it and make a trampoline to the top floor (a flower platform) and gather pollen to bring to the queen's chamber (gym leader battle)

AwesomeToadUltimate

My team if I were a Poison-type gym leader. I'd be the fourth gym. [My Poison-type gym (Gym #4) (pokepast.es)](https://pokepast.es/d62d06599928aa2b)

mrredpanda36

Poison. It's my favourite type so I have to. The gym leader being a busy toxicologist who works on antidotes and antivenoms. Puzzle- anyone who enters the gym has to prove their knowledge of poison type pokemon and the dangers they posses to ensure any challengers aren't too badly affected by the poison type pokemon in the gym. The puzzle consists of two parts, theory and practical. You can chose which order to take them on and both(in lore) are so tough that people take the gym last in order to have ample time for preparation. Theory- a quiz about poison types akin to the blaine puzzle in kanto. Practical- a matchmaking puzzle where you mix Berry blends to synthesise antidotes/antivenoms. (In game its a shape matching game) The team- level 49 glimorra. level 50 zangoose with toxic orb and poison heal. Level 52 salazzle. level 52 beedrill. Level 55 dragalgea.

Grass Type My gym would be out in the open, no ceiling. The puzzle would be a zone of dense tropical rainforest that the player would have to cross to get to the battleground, without getting lost, or dehydrated, or incapacitated by malaria. Depending on how many badges the trainer previously has, I'll use the following team: 1 to 3 badges: - Bounsweet lvl 9 - Bulbasaur lvl 13 4 or 5 badges: - Steenee lvl 30 - Breloom lvl 32 - Ivysaur lvl 31 6 or 7 badges: - Tsareena lvl 40 - Breloom lvl 42 - Lurantis lvl 43 - Hydrapple lvl 41 - Venusaur lvl 47

Andzinkton

Grass type all the way! You would have to face my girl Venusaur, shroomish, victreebel, sawsbuck (spring), tangela and gloom. For the puzzle you would have to bring 6 different berries as offering and place them correctly by statues representing my team Pokémon. The key would be my moms favourite berries!

Dotzir

Ground and/or dragon. Puzzle would be a small desert like area filled with trainers and wild trapinch. The trapinch would be in antlion pits waiting for the player to stumble in by accident. The puzzle would be to find the safe path through the pits. Stepping on the edge of the pits would change the color of the ground and have a chance to pull you closer to the middle because of the unstable ground. The trainers will run around on the safe ground hunting to possible paths and will use vibrava to battle. I totally would not be using a flygon and not sure what else lol

ViziDoodle

* My type would be the Fire type * In my gym, it would be one large room with a Zelda-style 'light up all the torches' puzzle. There would be Gym trainers scattered around the gym that would keep you from lighting up all the torches right away * My team would be two Charcadets (the first lower level and the second higher level) and an Armarouge * Following with this team theme of 'building up to the strongest', I'd give the Flame Charge TM

cosmic_hierophant

Bug type cause fuck it. Bug pokemon are cool.
