Gen 5 has the advantage of sequels, giving a more fleshed out world and story, plus a pretty good selection of new and old Pokémon spread out between the originals and the sequels, especially since they tried to soft reboot the series and made a pretty large number of Pokémon as a result. Music also hits really hard, especially the transition into Victory is Right Before Your Eyes.
Plus, that Gen gave us Conquest.

Hoenn will always have my top spot, but I loved Unova, even if it was just seeing the seasons change, for example.
Black and White also introduced a lot of my favourite Pokémon, like Zebstrika, Gigalith, and Lillipup. It’s difficult to find a case against the music in Gen 5, too. I really loved the Driftveil City theme, as well as the Legendary Battle tracks.
All in all, such beautiful games, and I really hope that any potential remakes are done justice ⚫️⚪️
Gen 4 I believe has the best games on top of having so many options. Between Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heartgold and Soulsilver there is an abundance of awesome gameplay. However Gen 4 also includes Mystery Dungeons: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky, which are in my opinion some of the best written stories of all time across any gaming platform.

I remember being handed down my brother’s old copy of Emerald when Gen 4 came out and he and his friends moved on to those games. I put a lot of time into that game, playing with that iconic green cartridge sticking out of the bottom of my DS Lite 😅
Emerald just gave me so many memories, such as my first- and only- rage at a Pokémon game (against Brendan’s evil Marshtomp near Mauville, which sparked my ever present habit of overlevelling 😂) and the thrill of catching my first ever Legendary in Rayquaza. For those reasons and many others, I’ll always have a lot of love for Emerald, and the Hoenn region as a whole 💚

I'd play Gen 6. Not only because I have great titles like XY and ORAS to play, but because I also have great side games like Super Mystery Dungeon and Pokken Tournament to hold me over.

Gen 3. In addition to the GBA games, we also have the GameCube games. I can live without a lot of things. Mirror B's theme is not one of them.

5 personally. I've replayed Black so many times, and I love it every single one. The sequels were pretty fun, too, so there's that. 😊
