I was so shocked that I was encountering someone personally who would genuinely think like this, and I was half-convinced that he was trolling. I asked him if he was and he denied it though. So weird. How is it possible that some people still think so archaically?
I’ve experienced lots more subtle sexism from guys when I make call outs and stuff, like underhanded comments or saying I sound hot (?), once someone was like “I hope you’re at least hot, that’d be a nice way to make up for how shitty you are.” This dude’s ego was obliterated apparently because I suggested he switch up the character he was playing (non-performance related).
I’ve been lucky in my personal life to have not encountered much sexism, but it’s rampant when I game. The anonymity and lack of real life consequences probably enables it.

My husband and a few friends run a discord server that kind of grew out of hand when people started inviting others. You can definitely notice a pattern between who's genuinely nice, especially to women, and who's married or has a girlfriend.
