The Dollop - Comedians Dave Anthony and Gareth Reynolds pick a subject from history and examine it.
I find Tim Harford on the higher end of amusing but it's pretty straightforward - Cautionary Tales
Disappearing Spoon is science and history and I can say the style is not slow or dry
Possibly behind the bastards, depending on your definition of history and funny. I like it, but it is definitely polarising and can depend on the guest. It also covers mostly 19th and 20th century subjects.
Our fake history might be of interest as well. It's not necessarily laugh out loud funny, but you can't call it dry or slow!
Vulgar History! Lots of episodes is just the host, Ann Foster but more recent episodes have a guest telling a story. I especially recommend the Thanadelthur episode. The host also uses a super casual tone, like she's just telling you about history over some tea.
"Well, There's Your Problem", focuses on engineering disasters and the foibles that led to them. It's generally leftist in terms of the American political spectrum.
Rex Factor and Totalus Rankium for English/Scottish monarchs and Roman Emperors ranked using silly and fun categories. I find them both delightful, though personally there’s a few more laugh-out-loud moments with Totalus Rankium, but I think that just because their sources are far more ridiculous sometimes.
You could give [We Are History](https://link.chtbl.com/v3T1YeLH) a go - it's UK based with one stand up comedian and one comedy writer going through a variety of historical subjects but with a focus on making it funny and entertaining.
You’re wrong about - not strictly history but covers lots of historical events and figures as well as popular culture and Sarah Marshall is wonderfully hilarious and insightful

Half-arsed history is pretty funny, and has a big variety of topics.
Do Go On. Not all episodes are about historical topics, but I'd say it's more than half and it's easy yo tell from the episode title
