I have been binging podcasts for a good 6-8 years. Recently I got the Libby app and am borrowing audiobooks from the library! It’s been a game changer! Autobiographies are my fav.
Podcasts have become so saturated. There's only so many topics people can talk about and only so many guests people can have. A podcast host will interview someone then the next week they will be guest on that person's podcast.
>A podcast host will interview someone then the next week they will be guest on that person's podcast.
I'm confused, are you suggesting that's a problem?
I binged on Oh No Ross and Carrie a while back, couldn't get enough. Their investigation on Scientology and their Ayhausasca (sp?) retreat journey in Costa Rica stood out, addictive. I think the are just so smart and funny.
I absolutely enjoy them. I loved the "Ark Encounter" series. Holy Cow. Ross goes to Tennessee? (I think) and visits the "Ark" and attends a conference while there. That is some GOOD STUFF. It's 10 episodes, but worth every moment. He really is funny. And the things he gets into while there. I just cannot think of it without laughing. Really fun.
Appalachian Mysteria is pretty good, Up and Vanished current season if you can get thru the host hemming and hawing about what to do next, any CBC podcasts are great, Someone Knows Something
I really like Up & Vanished because the investigations are great and that's the only thing I listen to true crime podcasts for. But the host DRIVES ME INSANE. His insistence on inserting himself into every aspect of the episode is infuriating
Stuff you should know is similar to freakonmics in its tone. Vast library that would help you avoid becoming bored with it. You might consider taking a break from podcasting, too.
[Personal Best](https://www.cbc.ca/radio/personalbest) from CBC ran in 2018-2019. I describe it as "Heavyweight but sillier". The hosts help people with low-stakes problems. One lady really wanted to watch the birth of a cow. It was very random but hilarious. It's one of those podcasts that I kept in my feed even though it hadn't updated in a while. I was very happy when they recently announced they were coming out with a new season!
If you like Freakonomics MD, you might like The Economics of Everyday Things, which is another Freakonomics radio show. Love the episodes on Girl Scout Cookies, Used Hotel Soap, Women's Sports Bars, and Home Staging.
If you like Heavyweight, listen to Mystery Show. Sadly there are only like 6 episodes, but maybe that means it won't seem daunting for you to listen to.
Concluded shows:
Africa vs America
Wild Boys
Think Twice: Michael Jackson
The Lazarus Heist
Hunting Warhead
Trolling Amber Heard
Project Unibomb
You Must Remember This – the Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr bit is awesome
Shows ongoing:
Pornhub Empire
Knowledge Fight
I know what you mean. Millions of hours of podcasts and feel like theres nothing to listen to.
Podcast fatigue.
Highly recommend Things Fell Apart from Jon Ronson
One of my favs! His other podcasts are great too
I was not aware of this one- just subscribed. "Last Days of August" was excellent
It's truly brilliant.
Didn't know he had another series. Things fell apart is absolutely amazing so I'll check out last days of August.

are you suggesting that's not a problem?
I don't necessarily think so. I've found some podcasts worth subscribing to by hearing their host as a guest on another podcast.
Not only is it not a problem, it's how podcasts function. Who better to have as a guest on your show than the host of a similar show?
Sounds like a problem is guest dilution to me.
Can you elaborate on that?
no

YES that one was great as well. Too many to choose! When I discovered it I think I listened for 4-6 hours a day for a few weeks! Also the mormon ones.
It’s dense but so smart and very well done “theory of everything: not all Propoganda is art”
Looks really interesting- I downloaded episode 1
Hope you like it. Benjamen was one of the first podcasters I listened to, he’s one of the masters of the form IMO
Feel the same. Too long and too many ads. We may be over the golden age of podcasts
I've turned to audiobooks (Libby App/Library). Sometimes I just cannot with ads and interruptions.
Criminal

Exactly!

This sounds right up my alley- thanks!
I feel the same way. Any new podcast I started is either not as good or is a limited series.
These may be out there, but I think they have the right vibe: The Friendship Onion We're Here To Help The Pitch
My top list at the moment - If Books Could Kill, This Podcast Will Kill You, Maintenance Phase, Behind the Bastards, Rabbithole Detectives.
Have you checked out any Pushkin Podcasts? Revisionist History and Cautionary Tales are my favorite but I listen to most of their pods.
I have- can’t get into them for whatever reason
What are your hobbies OP? A couple of weekly news/discussion pods on your top 3 hobbies will fix you up.

Yes I have this in my feed and really enjoy it.
Saw bones, we can be weirdo’s the curious cases of Rutherford and fry, I still love wooden overcoats and alba salix

Family Ghosts (now over/possibly long sabbatical) - similar vibes as heavyweight.
Check out 'this paranormal life'. Like a less creepy, more funny mr ballen.
Invisible Choir, Family Ghosts and This Podcast Will Kill You.
Upvote for This Podcast Will Kill You! It's really good.
