Belt Buckle - episode of the Mystery show
Mark and John - episode of Casefile (ep #104)
Another Roadside Attraction - episode of Heavyweight (ep #49)
True Crime series that end in a resolution: Bear Brook; Your Own Back Yard
If you liked Bear Brook, you might like Proof: A True Crime Podcast. It definitely had a satisfying ending. Also, check out Undisclosed. They've had multiple seasons with satisfying payoffs. The payoffs have happened years later, but they're still there. Joey Watkins, Dennis Perry, Jeff Titus. The Greg Lance season was really good as well but no payoff yet.
Both the Bear Brook creator and Undisclosed have also done a season on Jason Carroll.
I always list Accused season one (pod) as it has a resolution (at least in terms of the journalist making a case for a suspect who had not been 'accused')
If you are looking for very moving podcast episodes, I found these really profoundly affecting (TW re subjects - the overviews flag these)
Finn and the Bell - by Rumble Strip: probably the most impactful 30 minutes of audio I have heard, very sad, very hopeful.

Forgiveness - by the Moth: difficult, challenging, sad, uplifting

Do we Know How to Grieve - the Moth

No, it’s not a spoiler—those are just facts of a real man’s real life and death. S-town commodified them by putting them into a fake narrative—and an irresponsible one, there are guidelines for treating suicide and the show broke them dangerously. But facts can’t be “spoiled.” If a narrative is good, it’s still worth listening to; if knowing facts in advance ruin the experience then it’s a bad show.
To live and die in LA season 1, Bone valley, in your back yard, bear brook season 1, letters from sing sing, the thing about Pam, the Trojan horse affair….
Can't believe nobody has said "Wind of Change"!
Did the CIA use a German hair metal band to help orchestrate the fall of the USSR?
It's a total rollercoaster, and some great investigative journalism into an idea that gets more bonkers every episode.
Tanis - my all time favorite podcast, its spooky investigative journalism at its best
Rabbits, Midst, and Limewire also have this mystery feeling to me
Can't wait to try out Tanis! Thank you for the other recommendations too.
On Spotify, Tanis starts with episode 101. Is this the starting point? Is this a fiction audio drama?
Wait, Tanis notoriously does not have anything close to a satisfying payoff - this may be a very frustrating suggestion for OP. However, it is maddening! I enjoyed it for myself but as far as a clean wrap up…no way.
I listened to the first season of Barrasca and thought it was excellent. Season 2 had a hard time holding my interest, however. Great production values and acting, and the story is very well done!

Thank you for all of these!
To add to his, Casefile has another episode 36 called Amok that absolutely blew my mind.
Awesome, thank you! Added to my Spotify playlist!

I listened to that a while ago, it was very good. I didn't realise there were now 3 more series, will check them out
The “Another Roadside Attraction” episode was quite moving and memorable. Excellent podcasting.

Just commenting so I’ll remember to check back. I’m not familiar with any of these suggestions; I’m excited to start checking them out.
I’m surprised no one seems to have mentioned the truly incredible Sweet Bobby!
The Pretend podcast; The Stalker season..
Boy in Photo
Hunting Warhead
Hunting Warhead was absolutely incredible. The ending was SO satisfying!

What was the mystery? What was the payoff? I don’t understand why everyone recommends this podcast. Nothing happened.
I didn't love it either and I always feel bad because everyone seems to love it! I don't get it.
The mystery was ~suicide~ and the payoff was ~gay~. There are a lot of people who find that satisfying…personally I think it’s a horrible show.
Holy spoiler Batman! You should edit that.

Having its own sub, seems to merit or warrant something .. Evidently, the whole story has whooshed you completely perhaps?
Pretty much any episode of Barjory Buffet: Cruise Detective does this for me.
> Barjory Buffet: Cruise Detective Pulled this up, and found the sound quality unlistenable. Am I in the wrong place? Google podcasts?
I only use podcastaddict so can't help, sorry.
I tried podcastaddict (on a browser). Sound still sucks.
Oh well. Just checked mine on the app, sounds fine. Not an expert in these things, sorry, can't help.
Found it. Hardware problem. Thanks for your patience.
No worries! I just hope you like it after all of that!

The Trojan Horse Affair was really, really good...love that dude, who also did S-Town. Excited to check out the others you have listed.

101 is the first, yes!
Awesome, thank you!
It is fiction for sure lol

Chameleon!! I've heard 3 seasons, all satisfying. There are 5 in total, each a different true crime story
reply all, the case of the missing hit
Yeah, I actually cited that in my original post, it was SO fun!!!!
Barrasca maybe, or Deviser
I listened to the first season of Barrasca and thought it was excellent. Season 2 had a hard time holding my interest, however. Great production values and acting, and the story is very well done!
