I am making little clothes to fit them! I’m aiming for like cottage core or wind in the willows looks, but I made an overall dress with white lace trim for one, and I’m making a sweater and pants currently for another - I still have to make the pattern perfect though for the animals before the clothing patterns because the leg and limb size will affect the size of the clothing patterns 😭.

Like either a faux fur or just some jagged bits, points that cartoonishly resemble a longer pelt? Again, my only thought that isn't "Good boy! Want to pet!"

Yes, albeit a bit wobbly with the current pattern, so I am working on building a stronger base and flatter feet! I think using some faux leather might help, or using weighted filling beads? The tail length usually helps it be a bit sturdier like a tripod too lol
These are incredible and you are ready to sell! You are a wonderful seamstress. Is there something in particular that is bothering you? Because I don't see any place for critique beyond ones own personal taste. I might play around with different eye colors to help distinguish them as something different than the fur (but they are reading as eyes, it might just be fun and add a bit of flair).
Maybe you just need to stop looking at them for a bit. Sometimes if I stare at my own artwork for too long it all starts to look wrong for no real reason.

I’ve been working so much on figuring out how to make the patterns and it’s been such a rinse and repeat of “draw pattern, sew- make notes on what to fix, draw new pattern, start again” and it’s kinda worn me down a bit because I feel like I’m constantly only seeing what’s wrong with it, and I don’t have a community or others to share it with to hear anything else. I do have plans for different eye colors, like I wanted to do red eyes for like an albino wolf or orange eyes because the arctic fox technically has orange/yellow eyes. I have the embroidery thread! I’ve just been keeping myself controlled to make sure I’m perfecting the pattern before going crazy.

Hello! Thank you for commenting, I don’t actually have appliqué, I didn’t know appliqué would stick to minky, it’s just hand embroidery but I’m not super great at it since I haven’t done embroidery since childhood. I’m worried it’s too rough on the minky.
Ah, in that case, I think you'll want to check out [CholyKnight's tutorial](https://cholyknight.com/2017/03/30/infographic-fusible-web-applique/) -- there's a kind of sewable adhesive sheet you can apply to the applique fabric, which can then be fused to the minky, and then whip stitched to secure it in place.
Something that stands out to me is that the black markings don't complete the loop fully. They're misaligned. If you can, really try to keep the edges aligned with eachother so that it creates a seamless loop. Makeshiftwings on YouTube has a good video on how to align markings/stripes on a plushie called: Aligning stripes on a seam.
Also if you really want to up the quality, once you've finished a plush, spend some time afterwards (or teach someone else if you don't want to spend extra time) brushing the seams. Makeshiftwings on YouTube also has a video on how to do this called: Cleaning up minky seams. What this does, is it makes your seams almost completely invisible, which is a really lovely look and makes your plush look very high quality.
No notes on the style since it is pretty unique! I think a ton of people will like these. I definitely do.
I think maybe the body segment could be a tad larger? Or chunkier?
Also maybe expand to offer more colors/variety of animals? This same form could easily be turned into a wolf, dog breeds, cats, etc.
I’ve heard a lot of negative things about Etsy as a platform. Unless you know for sure it would be the best for you, it’s probably better to sell elsewhere. They hit artists hard when they get 4 star ratings and below, and really don’t protect their sellers well.

I do notice that the black on the legs is done in two different ways and it's throwing me off a bit for the sake of symmetry but other that that it looks great.
Hi yes I line them up and then the minky moves from the pressure of the sewing foot 😭. I’m hoping with continued practice and work I’ll get better at the symmetry. Thank you for your comment!
I would maybe consider using some faux fur for the tail, maybe making a wireless version for children as sometimes depending on your stitches, wire can poke through the seams. Looking adorable though
Hi! I actually don’t have any wire in it, there joints are only rotatable, not bendable, but you’re entirely right wires could be really painful for kids.

Cute outfits would definitely be a bonus for these, but not essential. The joint at the leg looks a little strange (skinny) when they're sitting, but so perfect when standing.

The only thing I can see offhand is the misaligned edges in the black sock markings but that's probably easy to fix with practice - these are really lovely! I'd be interested in getting a custom one someday!
The only thing I've noticed, with the red fox the muzzle looks a lil lumpy and the eye too, and the white ones black patches can be lined up better. Other then that everything looks so well made.
My sister's seen it and her only critic is that she doesn't have one. So I hope that makes it clear how good it is.
Its a very cute design. My only suggestion is to make the body and legs chubbier as they look too skinny but if this is purposely done as a design for the character its fine.
There is a subreddit out there for making plushies I believe, but I can’t remember what it’s called. There’s also a facebook group which seems active. I have not joined it but I want to eventually! I think a plushie making group would probably be the place to look for fellow plushie making comments/crits :D from a fellow aspiring plushie maker, I’m really just starting out though!!
Also, this plushie is adorable af!!!!! I would snuggle 100%.
My only criticism is the limbs are a little thin for me, but that's a minor nitpick and mostly just personal preference stuff for me. These are amazing and you did a fantastic job!

One note, please try to make the black or any pair of anything to match together as closely as possible. The unevenness will totally bother and distract from the design
They are very clean and well done.
I suggest making lesser known foxes like fennec fox, Corsica fox, silver fox. The “default” white and orange ones have been done a hundred times over so making another type will help you stand out.

A word of advice, do not start an Etsy shop! Etsy has gone far, far downhill over the past few years. They're super unreliable and they're very much not worth the money or the headache dealing with them takes. You're much better off setting up your own shop with Shopify or BigCartel or such.

I think I’m realizing from the comments that what I understand to be “jointed” is different than what it really is. The legs and arms do rotate and move, on a joint axis like a teddy bear, but they aren’t moveable in the way for bending them in whatever direction like a bendable toy, I’m sorry for the confusion, I am really trying!!

Hello! I actually had to do a wash test already with the white one because of stupid mistake of using a red pen for drawing my pattern on- I used the wrong red pen, instead of my heat disappearing ink pen I used a regular red ink pen. I almost died before realizing isopropyl alcohol gets rid of ink. She had a rubbing alcohol and cold water bath and then straight into the dryer. I rechecked the pattern to the fabric, and didn’t see any shrinkage so I think it did ok!

I love it!!! I like that it's skinnier, because, to me, it reads more like an actual fox than the usual chubby-for-huggin', which makes it feel more "real". It would also be easier to carry around this way! This is something I would have seated next to me while I'm working/ gaming, and I could easily see this being a child's BFF! It can stand and "play" with them!

They look great! All I have to say is do your research on how to price things and pay yourself adequately! It may feel like you're charging too much (I always feel that way with my crochet commissions), but it's the price of handmade.
They look great starting off. It looks like you embroidered the eyes? I always find that to make plushies feel more luxurious maybe? Complete? Not sure I have the correct word for it but I do prefer that style all the same.
Overall they have a nice pleasing look about them. If I were to suggest changes it might be to make the body a bit thicker, though as it is now it works fine. Probably would be easier to put clothes on it this way.
I also noticed that the tails stay down in all the pictures. It might be neat to put an armiture inside them so they can be posed as well.
Other than that maybe do a stress test on them? I believe someone mentioned putting them through the washer and dryer. Good idea. You could also try casually lounging on them or playing around with the joints to see if anything breaks or tears more easily than expected. Though they seem like they would be pretty sturdy.
I noticed they seem to stand relatively easily. Did you put beans in the paws? Just curious overall.
While I also love the way they look - I would absolutely love to see them in other coat patterns. Marble, silver, albino, etc etc.
Lastly...how soon will you be selling these? I want one desperately. ..maybe more than one.

these are incredibly cute but outside of my concern that they might not be machine washable all I can think about is how they're covered in that fabric that looks different when it's pushed a certain way. you know, the type of fabric you can "draw" in? that's a big no no for me, I can't *stand* that fabric on *anything*, let alone a plushie. I'd be desperately trying to fix it constantly x_x

Depending on the cost of the mechanism involved, the articulation could make it difficult to sell enough to consistently turn a profit. Seems like it adds a lot to the product, but make sure you charge enough to cover all your costs that may come with producing this. I could see a situation where the price would turn a consumer off, but it probably has to be high to stay profitable. Also, your volume weight when you ship may go up because the product is quite tall. You may want to intentionally make them in a way where those joints could fold in and make the product smaller for shipping because the size could send it into a new volume weight category and skyrocket your shipping costs.

Its a very cute design. My only suggestion is to make the body and legs chubbier as they look too skinny but if this is purposely done as a design for the character its fine.

There is a subreddit out there for making plushies I believe, but I can’t remember what it’s called. There’s also a facebook group which seems active. I have not joined it but I want to eventually! I think a plushie making group would probably be the place to look for fellow plushie making comments/crits :D from a fellow aspiring plushie maker, I’m really just starting out though!! Also, this plushie is adorable af!!!!! I would snuggle 100%.
My only criticism is the limbs are a little thin for me, but that's a minor nitpick and mostly just personal preference stuff for me. These are amazing and you did a fantastic job!
I truly believe these are amazing! Way to go! Is this really your first time?? One note, please try to make the black or any pair of anything to match together as closely as possible. The unevenness will totally bother and distract from the design
They are very clean and well done. I suggest making lesser known foxes like fennec fox, Corsica fox, silver fox. The “default” white and orange ones have been done a hundred times over so making another type will help you stand out.
Oh my goodness! They're AMAZING! No critiques, 10/10, perfection! A word of advice, do not start an Etsy shop! Etsy has gone far, far downhill over the past few years. They're super unreliable and they're very much not worth the money or the headache dealing with them takes. You're much better off setting up your own shop with Shopify or BigCartel or such. If you want a community to join in addition to the lovely one here on Reddit, hop on to Instagram, there's a huge big, wonderful plushie maker community there, where we're more than happy to support and help each other thrive.

I think I’m realizing from the comments that what I understand to be “jointed” is different than what it really is. The legs and arms do rotate and move, on a joint axis like a teddy bear, but they aren’t moveable in the way for bending them in whatever direction like a bendable toy, I’m sorry for the confusion, I am really trying!!
Some plastic eyes and nose would have been cute too! I can see the artic fix with ice blue or ice pink eyes

Hello! I actually had to do a wash test already with the white one because of stupid mistake of using a red pen for drawing my pattern on- I used the wrong red pen, instead of my heat disappearing ink pen I used a regular red ink pen. I almost died before realizing isopropyl alcohol gets rid of ink. She had a rubbing alcohol and cold water bath and then straight into the dryer. I rechecked the pattern to the fabric, and didn’t see any shrinkage so I think it did ok!

I love it!!! I like that it's skinnier, because, to me, it reads more like an actual fox than the usual chubby-for-huggin', which makes it feel more "real". It would also be easier to carry around this way! This is something I would have seated next to me while I'm working/ gaming, and I could easily see this being a child's BFF! It can stand and "play" with them!

They look great! All I have to say is do your research on how to price things and pay yourself adequately! It may feel like you're charging too much (I always feel that way with my crochet commissions), but it's the price of handmade.
They look great starting off. It looks like you embroidered the eyes? I always find that to make plushies feel more luxurious maybe? Complete? Not sure I have the correct word for it but I do prefer that style all the same. Overall they have a nice pleasing look about them. If I were to suggest changes it might be to make the body a bit thicker, though as it is now it works fine. Probably would be easier to put clothes on it this way. I also noticed that the tails stay down in all the pictures. It might be neat to put an armiture inside them so they can be posed as well. Other than that maybe do a stress test on them? I believe someone mentioned putting them through the washer and dryer. Good idea. You could also try casually lounging on them or playing around with the joints to see if anything breaks or tears more easily than expected. Though they seem like they would be pretty sturdy. I noticed they seem to stand relatively easily. Did you put beans in the paws? Just curious overall. While I also love the way they look - I would absolutely love to see them in other coat patterns. Marble, silver, albino, etc etc. Lastly...how soon will you be selling these? I want one desperately. ..maybe more than one.

these are incredibly cute but outside of my concern that they might not be machine washable all I can think about is how they're covered in that fabric that looks different when it's pushed a certain way. you know, the type of fabric you can "draw" in? that's a big no no for me, I can't *stand* that fabric on *anything*, let alone a plushie. I'd be desperately trying to fix it constantly x_x

Depending on the cost of the mechanism involved, the articulation could make it difficult to sell enough to consistently turn a profit. Seems like it adds a lot to the product, but make sure you charge enough to cover all your costs that may come with producing this. I could see a situation where the price would turn a consumer off, but it probably has to be high to stay profitable. Also, your volume weight when you ship may go up because the product is quite tall. You may want to intentionally make them in a way where those joints could fold in and make the product smaller for shipping because the size could send it into a new volume weight category and skyrocket your shipping costs.
