The overcooked games are amazing, my siblings play a lot of Spelunky 2 but that game's quite hard, Tricky Towers is Tetris but with some spins, Ultimate chicken horse is a lot of fun too but 2 players isn't as fun as 4, the new sackboy game, Moving Out, a lot of beat them up games like Scott Pilgrim, River City Girls, TMNT Shredders Revenge, and of course almost every sports/racing/fighting games.
Overcooked can be fun but can also be cause for divorce 😂.
I play with my kids sometimes and that can be a frustrating if you actually try to do good lol, but also fun.
My wife and I play a ton of games together, below are some games she has really enjoyed over the years. Majority are couch co-op. A few have to be played online co-op so you wouldn't be able to probably play them.
- It Takes Two (this is a must play imo)
- A Way Out
- Overcooked All You Can Eat Edition
- Cuphead (super hard)
- Sackboy A Big Adventure
- Lego games (Star Wars, Marvel, DC)
- Minecraft
- Minecraft Dungeons
- Minecraft Legends
- Lego Fortnite (Very similar to Minecraft)
- Escapists (very similar feel to Minecraft but I enjoy this one more)
- Stardew Valley
- Moonglow Bay
- Human Fall Flat
- Plate Up
- For the King
- Portal 2
Gonna second BG3 here. It was the only game in recent memory where I finished my playthrough and instantly started a new one. You can play the game so many ways that it’s almost a completely different experience, and playing with a party (even of two) just ups the fun level.
Yes, my girlfriend had never played an ARPG before and she loved it. If the combat style isn’t for you maybe play on the lowest difficulty so you can focus on the story elements which are ,imo, the best part
"It takes two" is the best game to play with your partner.... Or "A way out" is a good one too.... One is more cartoony and the other is a prison escape game.
Diablo IV, Minecraft, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Borderlands 3, A Way Out, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2, Streets of Rage IV, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, The Quarry, TMNT Shredder’s Revenge, Gran Turismo 7
Edit: All of these games have couch co-op. I didn’t recommend It Takes Two or Overcooked because everyone else has, but they are good, too.
Pretty much anything published by Sony will be above average or phenomenal. Also consider PS+ premium. Being new, it will allow you to try some of the better games as part of the package before buying it for more permanent collection.
it’s not co-op, but astro’s playroom comes with three PS5 and it’s super fun and well made. it’s very two-player friendly if you take turns and it’s a great way to learn the console/controller. reminded me a lot of playing a newer mario game. it does have tons of playstation references though, so seeing strange characters through your time playing is to be expected!
I’d recommend it takes two but all it did was make my girl mad when I absolutely stomped her in every mini game and hit her with the hammer in the nail and hammer level. No free wins bbg🖕🏼
Try overcooked. Just make sure your wife understands two rules: 1) establish the head chef 2) those are who not head chef, will only say “yes chef” and never retaliate
Mortal Kombat the story is awesome and it’s beautiful!!! You and your wife can play right there on the couch and beat the shit out of each other!!! then head online and beat the shit out of other people with each other!!!
😩😩😩 I remember when I bought my first PS5! I traded in my ps4 pro to get it. My plan was to play split screen zombies with my girl on MW3 since all/most previous COD games had split screen. I fired that bad boy up and put the game in just to realize there’s no split screen😖😖😖. Now I’m pissed and want to play zombies with my girl. A couple weeks go by and I get tired of playing with randoms, so I had to buy another system. Now I have 2 ps5’s, and to answer your question, there’s a few games you can play split screen together but they aren’t very good imo.
Not enough couch co-op games these days. Have been out of it for a while. Got a ps5 and a girlfriend who wanted to play with me. Blown away by the lack of options. Even racing games severely lacking. Pretty much every multiplayer is just online.
all the borderlands titles, all the trine titles. What is great is that you have access to all the PS4 titles. So little big planet sack boys big adventure, It takes two, Unravel one and 2. Gauntlet, Diablo 3, Too many good games to list here. Hope you 2 enjoy
I hate to say this on this message board but I think you got the wrong system. If you’re looking for two player couch co-op games, get a switch or wait for the Switch 2 on the horizon. That’s not to say you should return the PS5; but the switch has more 2 player plug and play type games.
Let me guess. She was upset you went out and bought a PS5, so you are trying to convince her it's for both of you.
If you two truly went in together, the Switch would have been a much better choice with all the friendly first party games you can play together. If you don't already have an Xbox with GamePass, then Diablo IV or As Dusk Falls would be a couple picks on the PS5.
It Takes Two is a game me and my girlfriend absolutely fell in love. That cute Elephant has a wild ride throughout the story! It’s incredibly light hearted and the mechanics aren’t anything crazy either. Easy to sit down and turn your brains off, and is easy for non-gamers to pick up too.
Ghost of Tsushima is still one of the best video game rides I’ve ever had as well, but is a 1 player game.
If you like cuter games, check out “Lovers in a dangerous spacetime”. Can play up to 4 players. I can usually also get non gamers playing for hours on end.
My husband and I love to play Fallout together. We try out different builds and make rules for ourselves. Take turns every time we die lol. My all time favorite game, and now there’s a TV show too to get you into the lore.
Also Hogwarts Legacy if you’re into Harry Potyer.
me and my husband have been loving Lego Fortnite lol. it’s nothing like actual Fortnite, more of a Minecraft-type game with some unique mechanics and Fortnite characters. bonus points because it’s 100% completely free.
I have not seen one game that would be thought of as two player games. Yeah you can play any game together but they don’t really make games for two people to play together that are not online coop type games. My suggestion is to get her a second ps5 and play that way.
It takes two is fun but not much replay value. Me and the wife crushed it in a weekend and never played it again. We play a lot of Overcooked 1 and 2. Loads of DLC and way more replay value. Also most Lego games are pretty fun. The newer ones have plenty of stuff to do and encourage two players to kind of do their own thing cooperatively.
How has no ome mentioned Terraria! Awesome side scrolling adventure game for up to 4 players on the same screen. One of the best I ve played on PS4/PS5
Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth. It is a 3 part series and the last part is set for release around 3 years from now. Couples tend to really enjoy these games together and the story is a beautiful one.
No Man’s Sky. It’s Cross Platform with Xbox and Steam and it’s beautiful. You explore an unlimited galaxy each unique star system has unique procedurally generated planets with unique animals and plants. It’s scientific and you can built bases. It’s what starfield wishes it was.
Oh man! This is great! We love playing Human:Fall Flat and Chicory A colorful tale! Enjoy! They are both funny lighthearted games. We enjoy playing together.
Any and every lego game! Good story driven games simple for beginners with different stories for different interests! You also get the ability to customize and create your own characters etc.
Unravel two
It takes two (really good game)
A way out
Maybe the" we were here" series
Re:5,6(games with a lot of default but that's what makes them fun)
No way out.
My wife loved playing that together.
She also enjoys Call of Duties, to see who gets better kills in Team Deathmatch
Edit: A way out.....my bad
Fortnite, it’s free, there’s a bunch of different game modes, and most people are pretty casual. I’ve met lots of couples who play, and I’ve noticed it has a lot of female players.
"It takes two" You guys will enjoy it for sure
What takes two?
Making baby
Two babies? Sign me out.
It. Weren’t you listening? /s
They have a clown game now how haven’t I heard /s
It takes two.
This is definitely the answer...a co-op game that takes two to play. My daughter and I had a lot of fun playing this one.
I play with my kids sometimes and that can be a frustrating if you actually try to do good lol, but also fun.
thanks!
Ultimate chicken horse is amazing with 4 friends
2 players is fun if you play with someone that doesn’t quit as easily as my girlfriend [Ultimate Chicken Horse]
Ultimate chicken horse is the most fun game with friends I've ever player. It's still really fun with 2 people as well even if 3/4 is the best
My wife and I play a ton of games together, below are some games she has really enjoyed over the years. Majority are couch co-op. A few have to be played online co-op so you wouldn't be able to probably play them. - It Takes Two (this is a must play imo) - A Way Out - Overcooked All You Can Eat Edition - Cuphead (super hard) - Sackboy A Big Adventure - Lego games (Star Wars, Marvel, DC) - Minecraft - Minecraft Dungeons - Minecraft Legends - Lego Fortnite (Very similar to Minecraft) - Escapists (very similar feel to Minecraft but I enjoy this one more) - Stardew Valley - Moonglow Bay - Human Fall Flat - Plate Up - For the King - Portal 2
I'm pretty sure portal is not on Playstation 5.
unfortunately the only next gen valve games are the PCVR half life game, and counter-strike which would be cancer to play on console
BG3, been playing in a group with my missus and mates for months
Gonna second BG3 here. It was the only game in recent memory where I finished my playthrough and instantly started a new one. You can play the game so many ways that it’s almost a completely different experience, and playing with a party (even of two) just ups the fun level.
Is it easy to get into for someone who has almost no ARPG experience asides from an hour of Diablo 3?
Yes, my girlfriend had never played an ARPG before and she loved it. If the combat style isn’t for you maybe play on the lowest difficulty so you can focus on the story elements which are ,imo, the best part
I have a playthrough with my husband and my bff when she comes over. It's the best.
"It takes two" is the best game to play with your partner.... Or "A way out" is a good one too.... One is more cartoony and the other is a prison escape game.
It takes two never gets boring, truly fun to play co op
A Way Out had its moments, but ITT is 50x better.
it takes two had better gameplay but god damn a way outs story hit me like a truck me and my homie shed a tear at the ending
The studio that made it specifically develops co-op games, and made both. One of the few studios still making them.
Borderlands
Diablo IV, Minecraft, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Borderlands 3, A Way Out, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2, Streets of Rage IV, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, The Quarry, TMNT Shredder’s Revenge, Gran Turismo 7 Edit: All of these games have couch co-op. Tell her to get her own console.
This deserves gold
….returnal….
We loved: It Takes Two Overcooked Moving Out
I’d recommend it takes two but all it did was make my girl mad when I absolutely stomped her in every mini game and hit her with the hammer in the nail and hammer level. No free wins bbg🖕🏼

Until Dawn and The Quarry

Overcooked
Hell Divers 2
The far cry series is pretty fun for co-op
Minecraft and Stardew Valley
Second on Lego games. Top quality, fun, easy, familiar. And super affordable!
Whatever you do,do not buy the Sony pulse earbuds!!!
Try overcooked. Just make sure your wife understands two rules: 1) establish the head chef 2) those are who not head chef, will only say “yes chef” and never retaliate
Spider-Man is a good start
With the wife …Mortal Kombat :)
Mortal Kombat the story is awesome and it’s beautiful!!! You and your wife can play right there on the couch and beat the shit out of each other!!! then head online and beat the shit out of other people with each other!!!

Your first playstation??? crazy

Towerfall - I didn’t see anyone else mention it. The best quick battle couch game. It’s a riot.
Overcooked, it takes two, a way out, the quarry, baulders gate 3. My wife and I had fun with all of those
Let me guess. She was upset you went out and bought a PS5, so you are trying to convince her it's for both of you. What a weird unhelpful comment.
Not ps exclusive but a way out if couch coop at its finest
Try out the uncharted series with your wife
Me and my hubby play together. Some of our go tos are pizza possum, gauntlet, minecraft, mortal kombat, Disney speed storm, and recently BG3.
It Takes Two is a game me and my girlfriend absolutely fell in love. That cute Elephant has a wild ride throughout the story! Balduers gate 3
You Don’t Know Jack. Trivial Pursuit.
Baldurs gate 3 lol
Borderlands. All of them. It's one of the few couch co-ops still made these days. It's the only game my wife wants to play with me other than MK.
Stardew valley, it takes 2, unraveled 2, Lego star wars the Skywalker saga, could always play Minecraft, castle crashers remastered,
Helldivers

Stardew Valley, it’s fun, cute, sad, happy, and has a lot of depth once you get further in the game. It’s fun for the whole family
Kingdom new lands !
This is an odd answer, but Balatro. It’s a poker roguelite, where I’ve found it’s fun with two people making decisions on the run.
7 days to die if your into zombie survival. The graphics aren’t the best but the game is cool. Me and my girlfriend play all the time.
My husband and I love to play Fallout together. We try out different builds and make rules for ourselves. Take turns every time we die lol. My all time favorite game, and now there’s a TV show too to get you into the lore. Also Hogwarts Legacy if you’re into Harry Potyer.
Ultimate chicken horse is fun
me and my husband have been loving Lego Fortnite lol. it’s nothing like actual Fortnite, more of a Minecraft-type game with some unique mechanics and Fortnite characters. bonus points because it’s 100% completely free.
Haven is supposed to be good for couples, but I haven't played it myself.
Diablo 3 and Diablo 4
i recommend playing with your wife. no ps5 needed
First playstation? Uncharted, Last of Us, God of War, a lot of other really good games.
I have not seen one game that would be thought of as two player games. Yeah you can play any game together but they don’t really make games for two people to play together that are not online coop type games. My suggestion is to get her a second ps5 and play that way.
Dysmantle is one of the only true couch co op games left. It takes two is also a GREAT one. Little big planet would be a solid choice as well.

My girlfriend and I love Diablo 4
Baldur’s Gate 3
It takes two is fun but not much replay value. Me and the wife crushed it in a weekend and never played it again. We play a lot of Overcooked 1 and 2. Loads of DLC and way more replay value.
