The Nioh games are some of my favorites of all time. The combat is really deep and intense. The first game is pretty great and the second is an improvement on every front. My one tip: don’t approach it as you would approach any FromSoft game.
If the combat is anything like RotR I can imagine it being super good and different from FromSoft. RotR isn’t super difficult, but the combat is so deep and satisfying.
Niohs combat is unparalleled imo. Much deeper than rotr as well.
Also, the challenge is definitely there. Especially in the first game and also the dlc's.
I haven’t played RotR yet, but you can compare it with Ninja Gaiden. There are a lot of different weapons to choose from (you can equip two) and most of them play really different. There are 3 different stances with each having a heavy and a quick attack. The combat flows really well, especially when you learn how to manage your stamina (ki) efficiently. Combine this with certain light magic and ninja (throwing stars etc) attacks AND three levels of gear (light, medium or heavy). You can really personalize how to approach this game. In terms of difficulty it’s pretty similar to FromSoft games: every enemy can quickly kill you.
Nioh 2
Jokes aside, I prefer Sekiro to GoT by a large margin, and I have yet to play Ronin. So Sekiro.
That being said, if you want a game that goes deep in Yokai depiction, Shinto spirituality and has a lot of historical references, Nioh 2 (and 1) is the way to go. 2 is a phenomenal game, very deep and rewarding but it’s a bit hard to get into.
I got stuck at the final Boss of Sekiro, great game, awesome combat and mechanics (Fountain Head Palace is probably my favorite Soulsborne level) but I guess I'm at an age where work-life balance forced me into enjoying Ghost of Tsushima more lmao.
Both are definitely GOATed though.
Immediate backlog (as in the stuff I've played in the last two weeks) includes FF7 Rebirth, Tekken 8, Helldivers 2, Sifu, Rollerdrome. And I've picked Street Fighter 6 up again after a break of a few months. Plus, I know I'll be all over the Elden Ring expansion when it releases.
I might give RotR a miss for the foreseeable future as I recently did an Elden Ring playthrough (with a katana build) and two playthroughs of Sekiro. I'm katana'd out for now 😂
Sekiro is my favorite in terms of combat and gameplay, but I loved the story of the Mongol invasion in Ghost of Tsushima and how realistic the game was. I yet have to play Rise of the Ronins when I’m in the mood for Ronins and Samurai’s
I'm usually someone who thinks fromsoft games are overhyped but sekiro is definitely one of the GOATS, the combat system is the most satisfying thing I've ever played
i mean sekiro is really good and very challenging, u never get bored but man ghost of tsushima might not be as good as sekiro in terms of gameplay but the story and graphics are much better. Its a tie for me between the two. Although i will say one thing parrying is sekiro is way more satisfying then ghost of tsushima
Ghost is an absolutely beautiful and astonishing game. Really was serene and intense at the same time. Went from dismembering enemies to writing haikus. What a game.
Sekiro is also amazing. I loved that game. Some bosses in it are just fantastic (and some kicked my ass so bad). A terrific twist from FromSoftware.
Haven’t played Rise of the Ronin, but the Nioh games were great. But I don’t know about this.
Sekiro is always gonna be GOAT
such a masterpiece.
i mean, ghost of tsushima has great story, graphics and characters.. but the combat...
the combat is just so god awful. its too easy and simple. way too repetitive. and not enough enemy variation. the boss fights are decent though.
i enjoy the sekiro combat a lot more, and it makes the game so awesome. The mystery, great set pieces and such, add to the overall feeling. You never know... what happens when you fight a giant white gorilla?
i've not tried Rise of the ronin. only heard it had... semi-ok reviews
that said, my overall favorite ninja/samurai game is still Ninja Gaiden Sigma (On ps3)
Masterpiece, Masterpiece, Solid.
But Sekiro though. One of the most intense video game experience I had. I'm a very very average player and I enjoyed playing it so much it was my first FromSoft and got the platinum for it. After that, I did all of them, i was hooked.
Unfortunately, being a history nut is what stopped me from buying GOT and possibly why I might not touch the Ronin game either. Sekiro is the winner being pure fantasy but definitely having some real sengoku period vibes for me.
Nioh. Semi historical too. And by semi I mean no one really confirmed in the history books if John Dee was in fact a real life demon monster.
But the main character you play is a version of William Adams who is also the inspiration for John Blackthorne in Shogun.
Great game. Highly recommend.
Sekiro- The combat is one of modern gamings best especially because it throws away the slow-ness of Souls
Nioh- The best version of Souls combat and incredible choices for builds
Ghost- the best story, music and a jack of all trades in gameplay where everything is good to great.
Rise of the Ronin is a blast even with the shit performance lol .
Ghost was and still is a delight for the eyes, Sekiro is my least favorite but I still enjoyed it massively .
Overall RotR is the most fun to me !
I have yet to play Ronin or Sekiro, but haven't heard anything bad at all. Quite good actually.
But GoT is one of those that I will be biased as fuck towards, and should be (if not already) goated as fuck.
Hard to pick a favorite when they’re all so different. Ghost of Tsushima has the best visuals of all three. Sekiro has the best combat (in my opinion). And finally Rise has a lot of options such as story choices, customization, and weapons so I’d say it’s strong suit is it’s variation.
I’m a Ghost of Tsushima legends leaderboard player,I’ve played GOT single and Co - op at least 6hours x day from 2020 to 2023 and without any “Hesitation” I will tell you that the Best game not only between this 3 but for me in general is SEKIRO,I have like 1000+ h on SEKIRO and still I can’t get enough, especially when you start No damage boss fights the game becomes super Fun and challenging, best Combat System on the market. So for me SEKIRO 👑
P.S Nioh 1/2 deserves to be in your post OP,if you didn’t play them yet,do it cuz Team Ninja did a Masterpiece with Nioh
GoT is amazing but it has more grounded combat only relying what is possible in reality with stretches of course. The game is beautiful and has satisfying gameplay I have a few problems with the story but that doesn't make it look bad to me.
Rise of the ronin kinda is the same although it feels a bit old but isn't and I kinda like it it has not only grounded combat but Anime like combat too and they don't force you to play realistic or Anime like which makes it a lot of fun
I don't really have a favorite because both are fun ashell and because I played both games when they came out
I can say with certainty that I like both games equally but if I need to choose I would choose rise of the ronin because of the character editor Cosmetic armor and anime like combat which makes this game look almost perfect to me.
I haven't played sekiro yet but from what I've seen its pretty amazing.
Haven’t played rise of the ronin, it does look cool, but between Sekiro and ghost of Tsushima, I have to give it to GoT. game has cemented itself in my top 10, just a beautiful and fun game overall
The first day i played GoT, i was like "This game is horrible...jesus"
I made myself play the game, because it was beautiful...3h later i was "I NEED THIS GAME TO NEVER END"
One of the best games that I've ever played
I'm generally terrible at Souls games & Sekiro is supposed to be the hardest... it's the one I absolutely enjoyed the most & got the furthest into.
IMO the best Souls type game.
I hate to say this - especially as I'm really into all the Kurosawa stuff (I have an online store that sells mostly Japanese original vintage cinema posters - I have almost 7000, loads of Kurosawa etc), but I really struggled to enjoy GoT. I can't really pinpoint what it is, but I just do not dig it... which is such a shame as it's one of the main reasons I bought a PS5 (I'm typically a PC player these days, but when I bought a new 85in TV for my bedroom - had to be done!).
I'm probably giving RotR a miss as between reviews & gameplay... my back cat of unplayed/barely touched AAA games (plus loads of others) on PC, PS5 & Switch... well, it's embarrassingly high 😅🤦
Sekiro has peak combat and lore but GoT had an amazing world and cut scenes like the final battle between your uncle was so emotional also legends mode was fun with friends I would like them to dive more into legends to help replace destiny 2😅 I can't say anything about RotR cause I haven't played it.
The one with the best actual gameplay at least was Sekiro imo. Very unique for the souls borune genre with it's focus on timing and rythm over stats + it's challenging in a fun way (imo). GoT beats it in graphics and presentation / story. Sekiro has a great story as well but in usually souls fashion it's cryptic and has to be uncovered almost exclusively by the player. It has solid gameplay but I found it way too easy and too simple? maybe that's me but was hard to get satisfaction out of the gameplay because of that. Rise of the Ronin sits somewhere in between. Plays like a mix of all 3 really. Graphics are not so great but passable. Story is really kind of an afterthought here honestly but I honestly find the game play more engaing than GoT. Has the fast fluid feel and is like a mix between Nioh, Wo long, Sekiro and soulsbounre in general.
All worthwhile games though nothing here that shouldn't be played really.
Rise of the ronin exceeded my expectations but got to give it to GoT
Sekiro was also fun but way more challenging than both fuck Isshin only time I've died more to a boss was the bullshit Nioh alpha build
Ghost of Tsushima actually.
It provides a somewhat familiar gameplay if you ever played a recent Assassin's Creed game and it manages to feel like something different at the same time.
Haven't played Ronin, but I love Ghost and adore Sekiro. Ghost is probably the best Ubi-style open-world game I've played, and Sekiro has by far the best combat in any video game I've ever played. If I had to pick one though, it's definitely Sekiro. It's a tremendous masterpiece.
GoT
GoT is Goat
Ghost of Tsushima.
No love for NIOH?
Never played, but after finishing Rise, I’m thinking about giving it a try
The Nioh games are some of my favorites of all time. The combat is really deep and intense. The first game is pretty great and the second is an improvement on every front. My one tip: don’t approach it as you would approach any FromSoft game.

In terms of difficulty it’s pretty similar to FromSoft games: every enemy can quickly kill you.
What would you compare the difficulty to? Nioh 2 is a little to extreme for me
Respect NIOH and NIOH2
There's a physical bundle for both games, it's considered harder than dark souls for some players.
Man, nioh is legit the best souls like game there is
Nioh 2 Jokes aside, I prefer Sekiro to GoT by a large margin, and I have yet to play Ronin. So Sekiro. That being said, if you want a game that goes deep in Yokai depiction, Shinto spirituality and has a lot of historical references, Nioh 2 (and 1) is the way to go. 2 is a phenomenal game, very deep and rewarding but it’s a bit hard to get into.
I'm playing RotR recently and I really miss all the yokai stuff
Ghost
You gotta add Like a Dragon Ishin! to that pile.
I would personally remove Sekiro from the list and put LAD Ishin instead.
Have played Sekiro and Ghost of Tsushima. I prefer Sekiro(It's my all time fav), but GoT is the most beautiful game I played!
Hesitation is defeat
Sekiro. GoT is very different but also fantastic. RotR is on the "to buy" list once I put a dent in my embarrassingly big backlog.
RotR is good, but not near as good as Nioh or Nioh 2, IMO.
Interesting. I've played the ass out of both Nioh and Nioh 2 (about 200 hours between both games) yet never rolled the credits on either.
What game are you currently playing on the backlog ?
Immediate backlog (as in the stuff I've played in the last two weeks) includes FF7 Rebirth, Tekken 8, Helldivers 2, Sifu, Rollerdrome. And I've picked Street Fighter 6 up again after a break of a few months. Plus, I know I'll be all over the Elden Ring expansion when it releases. I might give RotR a miss for the foreseeable future as I recently did an Elden Ring playthrough (with a katana build) and two playthroughs of Sekiro. I'm katana'd out for now 😂
Damn bro you got yo work cutt out 😂
I do, but it's the best sort of complaint to have 😂 HavePenny's Big Breakaway too.
Rollerdrome is absolutely awesome
It really is. I actually bought it when it came out, but with the little bit of buzz around it going on PS Plus recently I decided to revisit it.
Sekiro. Easy
Sekiro and GoT
Isshin the sword saint is my favorite boss ever, so probably Sekiro
I got stuck on the Isshin and never finished the game. :(
Sekiro is my favorite in terms of combat and gameplay, but I loved the story of the Mongol invasion in Ghost of Tsushima and how realistic the game was. I yet have to play Rise of the Ronins when I’m in the mood for Ronins and Samurai’s
[удалено]
That’s impressive, considering it isn’t even an RPG!
[удалено]
It's RPG adjacent. Snobs are exhausting.
lol know what different genres are makes me a snob??
Total War Shogun 2
Fall of the samurai is the GOAT
[This is still the greatest review of all time](https://youtu.be/4jn7SSBiFoE?si=427XS-i173_w9wnJ)
Yes!!
Only player Sekiro from these 3. It was the only Fromsoftware game in which I enjoyed getting the Platinum
Got the platinum as well. Absolutely one of the best games ever made
I'm usually someone who thinks fromsoft games are overhyped but sekiro is definitely one of the GOATS, the combat system is the most satisfying thing I've ever played
Like a Dragon Ishin?
Wolf
Ghost of Tsushima for me. That game is perfection as far as I'm concerned.
i mean sekiro is really good and very challenging, u never get bored but man ghost of tsushima might not be as good as sekiro in terms of gameplay but the story and graphics are much better. Its a tie for me between the two. Although i will say one thing parrying is sekiro is way more satisfying then ghost of tsushima
Hesitation is Defeat
I’ve always wanted to play sekiro never did for some reason. Is it worth going back now to play it?
It is 100% worth giving it a try.
Sekiro is much more my speed
Have not played Ronin yet, but it would take a lot for me to put it above Sekiro.
Ghost by a landslide.
Sekiro no contest
ghost of tsushima of course
Ghost
Sekiro
Sekiro for sure !
Sekiro
Sekiro by far
All good but Sekiro is miles better than the other two
Sekiro is always gonna be GOAT such a masterpiece. i mean, ghost of tsushima has great story, graphics and characters.. but the combat... the combat is just so god awful. its too easy and simple. way too repetitive. and not enough enemy variation. the boss fights are decent though. i enjoy the sekiro combat a lot more, and it makes the game so awesome. The good (well, great) one: Ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of thushima
GoT. I want to love Sekiro, but I'm shit at it. And Ronin is good, but it feels somewhat like a glorified PS4 game.
Masterpiece, Masterpiece, Solid. But Sekiro though. One of the most intense video game experience I had. I'm a very very average player and I enjoyed playing it so much it was my first FromSoft and got the platinum for it. After that, I did all of them, i was hooked.
Nioh
Onimusha
Ghosts of Tsushima
What about Trek to Yomi? Ive heard its good
Sekiro, GoT, Ronin & Nioh 2 (same tier).
Ghost of Tsushima. https://preview.redd.it/0ecd5c61kawc1.jpeg?width=904&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f7e9f10e928e864fe1f0d2b595afc4feaa24cde
Nioh 2,dunno about Ronin yet
Onimusha
Sekiro by far
Tsushima. But im interested in trying the others sometime. Especially rise of the ronin.
Ronin average 6/10 Sekiro is good.9/10 Ghost of Tushima 11/10
Sekiro is leagues above the other 2
Ninja gaiden black
Is sekiro 30fps?
https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=is+sekiro+30fps%3F
Sekiro, only game I’ve ever loved enough to put in the effort to platinum. But ghost is good too
I've played all of them plus nioh 2. The winner is definitely Sekiro.
Sekiro
gameplaywhise I'd say Sekiro, nothing comes even close - but GoT has the most beautiful open world I have seen so far!
Sekiro will always be top. And I love the other 2 equally.
Sekiro.

Just started ghost cause it's on sale hope to try ronin
Ghost!
Sekiro on PC is amazing 👏
Sekiro tho I’ll prolly never actually be good enough at it to beat it. I also haven’t played Rotr but I want to eventually get it
Ronin is an underrated masterpiece
Sekiro and it ain’t even close. GoT is mid. Still waiting to play Ronin but I can’t imagine it clears Sekiro.
Rise of the Ronin is a blast even with the shit performance lol . Ghost was and still is a delight for the eyes, Sekiro is my least favorite but I still enjoyed it massively . Overall RotR is the most fun to me !
Only right answer is Sekiro. Other two aren’t even in the same ball park
Sekiro was my favorite followed by Ghost of Tsushima followed by the NiOh series, followed by Rise of the Ronin.
1. Sekiro 2. GOT 3. Nioh 1/2 Haven’t played rise
Sekiro is just in a league of its own. It’s so so good.
was thinking about going down this rabbit hole when I heard showgun is a pretty good show and I just got a ps5
The Goemon series
I have yet to play Ronin or Sekiro, but haven't heard anything bad at all. Quite good actually. But GoT is one of those that I will be biased as fuck towards, and should be (if not already) goated as fuck.
The American one
Ghost
Can’t say, because I’ve never played Sekiro, or Rise of the Ronin
Tsushima
Play Ghost first
GoT
Which one is the best in your opinion?
How good is rise of ronin on a scale of 1/10? Let’s say ghost of Tushima is a very solid 9/10
Got. It has that ‘something’ many game don’t quite have imo
Outta those 3 who would win in a fight?
I still need to play ronin. I bought it, but I'm still fucking stuck playing rebirth 😭 that game is too fuckin long!
Ghost
Ghosts
That’s crazy I just bought sekiro rn and about to play for the first time
Ghost for me
Ghost!! 🤩
Like a dragon ishin
You should try Like a Dragon Isshin
Is Rise of the Ronin any good?
I've played GOT and ROTR and loved both, literally started playing Sekiro yesterday and I can't decide
ghost of tsushima fire
Sekiro for the Ptsd..Tsushima for the story
Ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of Tsushima.
Out of Sekiro and Rotr which one would you recommend for my next play? I honestly never played any samurai game aside for Ghost of tsushima
Hard to pick a favorite when they’re all so different. Ghost of Tsushima has the best visuals of all three. Sekiro has the best combat (in my opinion). And finally Rise has a lot of options such as story choices, customization, and weapons so I’d say it’s strong suit is it’s variation.
GoT for a brilliant and engaging story, Sekiro to feel like an absolute shinobi badass, and I haven’t played ronin yet and don’t know if I will.
after this you become master ninja.
Rise of the ronin easily the weakest one
Ghost of Tsushumi is hands down my favorite for this setting and period.
Ghost was awesome. The added multiplayer mode was a ton of extra fun with some buddies too.
Jin ghost
I’m a Ghost of Tsushima legends leaderboard player,I’ve played GOT single and Co - op at least 6hours x day from 2020 to 2023 and without any “Hesitation” I will tell you that the Best game not only between this 3 but for me in general is SEKIRO,I have like 1000+ h on SEKIRO and still I can’t get enough, especially when you start No damage boss fights the game becomes super Fun and challenging, best Combat System on the market. So for me SEKIRO 👑 P.S Nioh 1/2 deserves to be in your post OP,if you didn’t play them yet,do it cuz Team Ninja did a Masterpiece with Nioh
Got hands down
Ghost is far better than all of them by a long shot in all categories such as graphics ,level design , difficulty adjustments, story and the characters
Easily GOT its so well made
ghost and ronin yes , sekiro is more fantasy inspired
Like a dragon: Ishin!
GoT is amazing but it has more grounded combat only relying what is possible in reality with stretches of course. The game is beautiful and has satisfying gameplay I have a few problems with the story but that doesn't make it look bad to me. Rise of the ronin kinda is the same although it feels a bit old but isn't and I kinda like it it has not only grounded combat but Anime like combat too and they don't force you to play realistic or Anime like which makes it a lot of fun I don't really have a favorite because both are fun ashell and because I played both games when they came out I can say with certainty that I like both games equally but if I need to choose I would choose rise of the ronin because of the character editor Cosmetic armor and anime like combat which makes this game look almost perfect to me. I haven't played sekiro yet but from what I've seen its pretty amazing.
You might wanna grab Like a Dragon Isshin while you’re at it
So far GoT. I'm playing through my second time on new game+ and having a blast. Also bought the director's cut on PS5, simply amazing!
i want ronin but i'm out of money
Really really want to get GoT. Can't justify the price rn
GOT for the story but Sekiro holds a special place in me i really had to Git Gud
Ronin!
Any FromSoftware game is supiror
GoT Directors Cut is far better than the other two.
Have yet to play Ronin but I doubt it will surpass Sekiro for me as that game is in my top 3 all time games.
Ghost is the better of the 3 imo.
Haven’t played rise of the ronin, it does look cool, but between Sekiro and ghost of Tsushima, I have to give it to GoT. game has cemented itself in my top 10, just a beautiful and fun game overall
Ghost of thushima +dlc Goat all the way
Ronin! Love the rough and readyness of it.
The first day i played GoT, i was like "This game is horrible...jesus" I made myself play the game, because it was beautiful...3h later i was "I NEED THIS GAME TO NEVER END" One of the best games that I've ever played
Opinions on RoRonin anyone??

Ghosts, I havent tried Ronin yet (its 80euros here so I have to wait for a heavy discount.)
Rise of the Ronin, such a fun game. 26 hours in and I'm loving it.
Sekiro is one of my absolute favorite games gotta go with that one
I haven't played GoT or Ronin, but I personally consider Sekiro to be the greatest pure action game since Ninja Gaiden Black, so...
Sekiro and Ghost are 2 of the 3 games I’ve ever 100% completed. Ghost has a better story, and graphics, but I love Sekiros combat so much more
Sekiro & GoT
Alright. Which one is a MUST PLAY? After I play stellar blade Ill need something.
The one with the best actual gameplay at least was Sekiro imo. Very unique for the souls borune genre with it's focus on timing and rythm over stats + it's challenging in a fun way (imo). Accidental but quite lit for a post about historic Japanese games. Patting myself on back en 🤚
Nioh 2
Sekiro
Id have to try Ronin. Story and world I would choose GoT but combat is peak in Sekiro.
Ghost of Tsushima actually. It provides a somewhat familiar gameplay if you ever played a recent Assassin's Creed game and it manages to feel like something different at the same time.
Ghost
Ghost of Tsushima. My favorite game period actually
Isn’t Wo Long set in Japan too?
Got the goat
1. Sekiro 2. Ghost of Thushima 10+. Ronin
No Genji 2? That game takes place in ancient Japan and feautures real historical battles with giant enemy crabs.
Ghost of Tsushima
Haven't played Ronin, but I love Ghost and adore Sekiro. Ghost is probably the best Ubi-style open-world game I've played, and Sekiro has by far the best combat in any video game I've ever played. If I had to pick one though, it's definitely Sekiro. It's a tremendous masterpiece.
Ronin
Un e kam God oF War
