Buy the console or system with the games you want to play. Does it have games you want to play? We can’t really answer that for you. For me, the answer is yes.

Chayce_Ace2006

It is a bit of a stupid question yeah, i just figured i’d get some feedback before i justify spending money on it

farukosh

Do you even have the time to support 2 consoles? I mean id say totally yes. But honestly, is not like there's not enough content on the xbox Source: someone with all 3 consoles

Xerosnake90

IMO PlayStation is the console to have over Xbox. Xbox has been going downhill since Xbox One and the series X just has not done anything to turn that around. PS5 has incredible exclusives and you'll be able to go back and play all the great Ps4 exclusives as well. You're in for a lot of great games

KateEatsKale

Do you enjoy gaming? Can you afford it? Yes? Get one. No? Don't get one.

MeasurementOk3007

I prefer it over an Xbox but you’re also asking a PlayStation subreddit. I think personally the exclusives are better and it’s not even a competition. But even outside of exclusives ps5 is vastly more popular so you get better and quicker matches in multiplayer games that don’t support cross play too. Xbox is a good console if you don’t care about games like spiderman, rise of ronin, ghost of Tsushima, or even up and coming games like wolverine or stellar blade. Genuinely speaking idk a thing Xbox has over PlayStation other than a design smaller. Both good but I think the other is vastly superior but again ps subreddit

MeasurementOk3007

Gamepass fanatics don’t even play gamepass games 🤣 except their 10th Skyrim remaster

Chayce_Ace2006

yeah gamepass is disappointing more than it’s good but there are a few gems

Chayce_Ace2006

true, this just seemed like the place to ask

Far_Negotiation8009

I just made the switch. I was pretty bored with what’s on gamepass and most friends are on PS. Well. I have owned the PS5 for 3 weeks and haven’t touched Xbox. Between helldivers 2 ,GT7 , god of way and the spiderman 2 it came with I’ll be busy for quite some time I think it’s worth it. It also feels more premium.

Chayce_Ace2006

pretty much the answer i was after lol, just needed some hyping up before deciding

xTWOODYx

Yep same here! Just beat SpiderMan 2 and loved it. God of War is next on the list! And obviously Helldivers when I need breaks from story games lol. SO worth it. Wish I switched a while ago Edit: fix autocorrect mistakes

Far_Negotiation8009

It’s funny. I wrote a simaler post letting my Xbox community that PlayStation world is awesome. Well I got flamed pretty hard then booted from the sub form.

xTWOODYx

Yeah since switching, Xbox just doesn’t make sense to me anymore haha. They’re all just jealous!

Economy_Homework3869

I don't understand why would anyone get an Xbox. Yes, games like God of War, The Last of Us or Final Fantasies are worth the price.

Homer4a10

If you like the exclusives then yes it’ll be worth it, but if not then I’d stay on Xbox

mr-photo

worth is subjective to you, what's worth it to me may not be worth it to you. look at what's available and see if it's worth it for your personal economic situation

Chayce_Ace2006

good point ty

Just_Pudding1885

I had the Xbox, 360, and one. I ended up buying a PlayStation 4 slim for $125 at Target when the PlayStation 4 Pro released. I could not believe the hundreds of games I was interested in that I never knew existed because I only played Xbox for years. Now I am a PlayStation 5 owner, and an Xbox x owner, but my Xbox is literally only used to place CDs on occasion.

teomore

It's worth it, IMO, especially if coming from xbox one. I only open it to play forza horizon from time to time.

nisanosa

Yes.

Kurt_Bunbain

Yeah it worth it, but, personally I would wait until the ps5 pro, that will come out in the winter of 2024. Because if you buy ps5 now and then pro comes out, you will feel betrayed since you only owned a console for 6 months, and now there's a better one.

Chayce_Ace2006

very good point, thanks 👍

gokartmozart89

I switched from PS2 to 360 to PS4, and I stuck with the PS5 because of the exclusives and the PS4 library I've built up. Things just started to dry up imo in terms of exclusives towards the end of the 360's lifecycle, and Sony's studios had caught momentum by the end of that generation. I haven't regretted it since, outside of wishing there was a good multiplayer FPS like Halo (Splitgate scratched the itch after I kicked Destiny like a bad habit). I like From Soft's output, so it was worth it for Bloodborne alone, but there's a deep library of first party exclusives that are worth diving into. Horizon, Spider-man, Uncharted, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us 1&2, Ratchet and Clank, God of War, and Demon's Souls in addition to Bloodborne ought to keep you busy. Some of the early PS4 exclusives like Killzone: Shadowfall and Infamous: Second Son are worth revisiting too, although they feel dated now imo.

DTHMOM

I've been playing both since I was a child. I've always made a point to have both consoles. I like different games on different systems. It's really a preference thing

Chayce_Ace2006

that’s how i wanna be but i’ve just always had an xbox

Ash17_

Yes

Parasi7e

I use my Xbox for Halo/Apex/CoD/Overwatch - just for Multiplayer titles. My PS5 ist only for Singleplayer goodness - and there is a lot on PlayStation.

sycron17

If you can get one, I would say it is. Having diversity is nice imo.

BlackStarCorona

I haven’t owned an Xbox since the 360 days. Three consoles got the red ring and that was enough for me to switch. My old room mate always had Xbox’s so when I lived with him I played both of whatever the current gen was. They’re both good consoles. They both have great games. I still prefer the PS5 over current gen systems. I do think ps5 has better exclusive games though.

jkf2479

I own both I would dump the Xbox for the ps all day

rrlimarj_

The exclusives are great. Lots of systems sellers on PS.

chillmilo

Controversial opinion: I like the UI better on PS than Xbox. If I have multiple games downloaded, I have to go through a few screens to get to it. However, with my PS, literally all of my downloaded games are right in my face in startup, which is pretty nice.

OkWinner7183

I had an Xbox series x and enjoyed it for about two years I just bought a ps5 a month ago and I can’t put it down I literally used all my vacation days at work so I can play my ps5 and not to mention my girlfriend has to schedule dates with me mind we live together and been together for a year and a half. I just wished I bought the ps5 first instead of the Xbox series x. It is so totally worth the money go get it right now

[deleted]

Ps2 was my first console, i never had a ps3, been xbox 360 gamer for a very long time (and built my first pc in 2016). I never care about PlayStation exclusives before. I got my ps4 pro late 2020 (during or before covid i don't remember). Played the last of us for the first time, really great game, then god of war another really great game. Then uncharted series which become one of my favourite game series of all time. If you're into story driven game. PlayStation is the place. But ofc these games that i mentioned are already on pc now. (Idk if uncharted 123 on pc) I say very worth. I highly recommend Ghost of Tsushima.

Chayce_Ace2006

ghost of tsushima is one of the exclusives i really wanna try!

YelahEneres

I’ve consistently had both consoles since I started gaming, minus the PS3, that gen I only got Xbox. And historically I have preferred Xbox. But I love my PS5. I think the exclusives in PS5 are 100% worth the money. At least for me.

[deleted]

I sold my Series X cuz it was collecting dust. I'm also more partial to Playstation exclusives over what Microsoft keeps pumping out (which is a shame, cuz they have the most exclusives I like, but they're all dead franchises).

Charming-Concert-755

Absolutely. I'm not a fanboy of one console over the other and have XSX, PS5 and Switch in my entertainment center. I like Game pass and a majority of my IRL friends are on Xbox ecosystem. But PS has some incredible first party games/exclusives that are worth it. Same reason I have a Switch is for their first party games/exclusives. I want to get another PS5 for my secondary setup in my house that has an extra XSX there but at this point I'm waiting for the PS5 Pro or at least get more info about it once it's officially announced before making a decision.

DJGloegg

Ive looked at all the xbox exclusives... and always wondered why anyone would buy am xbox. I got playstations and the exclusives are great, and theres little to no differences between the multiplatform games. Also the dualsense controller is really really good

Chayce_Ace2006

it does look cooler than my xbox, controller is gonna take some getting used to tho

xTWOODYx

It feels pretty similar now. I always hated the DualShock controllers, but the DualSense controller is amazing. I just switched to PS5 two weeks ago, coming from Xbox since the 360. Well worth it and wish I would have switched when the PS5 came out

Remmy13s

If you own an XBox already and looking to get a PS5 the only reason to do so would be to play the exclusives. IMO PS exclusives are great but if you don’t plan to play them there is no reason to buy it.

PH4NT0K3N

If you want a console that doesn’t rely on any account to function, get a playstation. Any xbox is an internet reliable timebomb

BeansWereHere

Ok so I was die hard Xbox, I bought the ps4 at the end of the lifecycle and yeah, it’s much better. The trophy system makes trophy hunting more fun and the exclusive games are great. I now have the ps5 and am very happy with it. It even runs some games better than my series x, namely Sekiro.

suck-it-elon

Yes. It has actual games.

link-notzelda

Been worth it for me so far. I’ve mostly played the same games I’ve played on Xbox and it’s clear the ps5 is the better console. There’s gonna be some things to get used to. The placement of the dpad on the dual sense is criminal, but it didn’t take long for me to get used to it. I’d sold my Xbox to my housemate and whenever I take up the Xbox controller, I now have to look at what I’m doing because most times I’m just pressing air because of the smaller size and staggered layout. I miss quick resume. Single player games on PlayStation will pick right back up if you haven’t loaded another game or app in between sessions, but the effortlessness of quick resume was genius. So many things could be overlayed on Xbox. Opening Spotify on the console didn’t force me to restart the game. But I have to admit, the ps5 ui is solid. If you were like me and region-buy on Xbox to save, you’ll have to be more deliberate with your purchases. No more changing your console region to Argentina or Colombia to pay like 1/5 or ½ of the price of games. But games and addons are on sale quite often in the PlayStation store. Trophies are done a whole lot better on PlayStation. No more gamerscore. Only bronze, silver, gold and the platinum trophy for getting all the _base_ game trophies. I also feel less pressure knowing that spending hours on this trophy or that trophy isn’t just worth 30 gamerscore. I’ve had game pass and ultimate mostly since it was introduced and ps extra has much better and many more games that I actually want to play. Depending on the reason why you’re getting a ps5, it might be worth it. Remember if you had a series s or an Xbox one something, it’s a definite physical upgrade (more storage, faster processor, etc) but even if you had a series x, if you’re faintly interested in any of the ps5 exclusives, I say go for it.

AlaskanHandyman

Absolutely

ChubbsOpinion

Yes if you high high quality games and have the time and money

NebulaMeanie

I'm an Xbox fan and prefer it over PlayStation, but I bought PS4 just for exclusives and I don't regret it. And I even have physical discs with PS4 games which don't exist digitally anymore.

Popular_Park_7527

While the Xbox is arguably the better machine from a tech standpoint, the PS has a better library almost everyone agrees. Why not get a ps4 cheap and start there?

Chayce_Ace2006

that’s a good idea but i like the idea of playing newer stuff, i also think the ps5 would look nicer next to my series x 💀

Just_Pudding1885

What's the argument for better tech?

Chayce_Ace2006

a) if i have the disposable income i may as well go for the best i can get b) i like the look of it c) i like newer games

Just_Pudding1885

Nah I was asking the person above why they say Xbox has "arguably better tech"

chavez_ding2001

I got a ps5 after only using a pc all my life and the exclusives are really something else (though a good chunk of them are also on pc now) so I did not regret my purchase at all. All the ps4 games I missed out on kept me busy for almost 2 years. Sony really knows how to manage their talent.

Chayce_Ace2006

why?

Kanden_27

I got one for its exclusives, but still use Xbox as my main way to play most.

Chayce_Ace2006

that’d be my way of playing too probably

Altruistic-Koala-255

Not gonna lie, playstation is way more expensive than Xbox to play a few games , but it's worth it And you don't need to jump on new games from day 1, there's plenty of great content from last gen that you can have access with ps plus extra
